Whoa nelly

Well we slipped off the program last night and had a nice night out having a bbq at the Harris’s house. Lori and Carrie set it up and we both bought some ribs that were on sale. The nice thing about going over there is the kids play outside non stop for the entire time. I managed to stay away from gluten, dairy and most carbs (Carrie did make some delicious garlic mashed potato’s) but we did indulge in a  couple of adult pops!

Earlier in the day Jag and I ran some errands while Ty went to play at a friends house. Then Jag went out to sell some first aid kits for baseball. Tom and Ali also took him to lunch, lucky boy! Jimmy across the street had his truck stolen by two black kids (not stereotyping here but it is what it is) who then wrecked it but he’ll get it back Monday.

The Final Four is set and Wisconsin lost in the last 10 seconds, sorry Mom. It looks pretty nice outside this morning, maybe it’ll be a warm one.

Everyone is still sleeping (Jag was up until almost 1am watching tv) and it’s 7:30 now. Hope everyone is fine, have a great day and God Bless.

Thank God for the weekend

I made it home with the boys a bit after 3pm and then Ty went to Vinny’s. Jag and I cleaned the house, or at least the kitchen and living room and then Mom arrived home around 5:30. We had some scallops for dinner and a glass of champagne and that was it. We were both ready for the weekend. I think we went to bed at 8 or so and everyone but me is still sleeping.

Not sure what we’ll do today. I might go trade a rifle in for one with a lighter caliber for Jag as he can hunt big game this year after he passes the mandatory Hunter Safety course.

Baseball was cancelled yesterday as the field was too muddy. Today he’d better get on selling his first aid kits, so expect a call!

I’m not sure what the weather is today, it’s supposed to warm up by the end of next week but could rain or snow again before that. Guess I’ll run to the gym while everyone is sleeping, hope you all are well, God Bless.

Finally Friday

We need a break, a break from work, from bills,  from snow, from the mess in the house, from itching (from our sunburns), from just about everything that adds any stress in our life. Maybe it’s just a rough week due to coming back from the laid back island life where we pretty much ignored all of the above for 7 days or, as I think, maybe we just need another vacation!

Anyhow it’s not that bad, just adjusting back to reality.

I had a good day up north and managed to get home by 4pm so when the boys were dropped off 30 minutes later, all was well. Mom strolled in around 5:30 or so after saving the World at her office for another day. It’s supposed to warm up now and hopefully it will as we’re ready for summer.

Today I’ll be working around the house for most of the day and Lori will be back at the office. Jag has baseball practice from 4 to 6 and needs to get busy with selling his first aid kits that are due next week, so get ready to send a check to him for his baseball team!

Mojo’s here with me and I just promised him a walk today so he’s all excited. Did you know that dogs have an average of 200 words in their vocabulary? Pretty impressive if you think about it. No politics today as I’m trying to ignore all the crap that comes out of Washington. Hope everyone is well, have a great day and God Bless.

Snowing right now

5am and it’s snowing. I thought I was headed up north yesterday but I was off one day as its today! Lucky I called or I would have had a long drive for nothing. I had April 2nd and April 3rd mixed up.

Jagger went to Jen’s after school and was home around 6pm and Ty had D.I. practice and I picked him up at 4:30. Mom made it home around 5:15 and then it was homework and dinner time. She’ll need to cut out of work early today to pick up the boys as I’ll be up by Wyoming.

Lots of bills (medical and taxes) around here. Not much I can do about them at this point. Oh well, it is what it is.

Easter is late this year, like the 19th. Not sure what we’re doing, hopefully it’ll warm up by then. Time to run as I’m out of material. God Bless.

Rain and snow?

We thought, or were hoping, that the winter weather here in Colorado was over. But not so fast, looks like the rain/snow mix will arrive this afternoon and then turn to snow overnight. Maybe this will be the last blast of the season.

The boys had a good first day back at school while Lori and I worked our tails off with headaches we think were from allergies. Today I’m up north near Wyoming most of the day and Lori has a long day at work. She’s going in early for a little surgery on the back of her head where we think she had a tick. She felt it the other night and pulled what we think was half of it off and now she needs to be cut open to get the rest of the little bugger out. Throw in a dose of antibiotics and she should be good to go. We’re both also really itchy from how dry it is here and our sunburns. We really need to get a humidifier but that’ll have to wait.

Last night there was a big earthquake in Chile which is only the latest one in a string of quakes over the past few weeks. From Yellowstone to California to Alaska, the ground has been shaking. Hopefully there’s not a big one coming up!

It’s starting to get a little green around here which means Spring should be arriving soon. We can’t wait for the snow to melt in the mountains so we can get up there camping and fishing. Between mid April and June it’s known as the muddy season as the ski areas are all closed and the run off keeps everything pretty muddy. Restaurants close down and people head out of town until the summer season begins. The same thing happens between Labor Day and Thanksgiving so those are good times to go as the tourists are all gone.

That’s about it, hope everyone is well, take care and God Bless.

READY TO GO BACK!

Alright, after both of us working all day, we decided we are ready to head back to the beach! Both Lori and I have headaches so I think it must be from the wind and some sort of allergies. The boys were off yesterday but are back to school today. They were pretty well behaved considering I had to leave them alone for most of the day while I was on the phone. We did all run down to the DOW (Department of Wildlife) to submit our hunting tag applications.

Jagger needs to start selling first aid kits for his baseball fundraiser so all of you should expect a call and get ready to send a check. They have kits as cheap as $15 or so and all the way up to $100!

I think the swelling in our bodies from all the sun has pretty much gone away. I’m back down to 219. I should make it to my goal of 205 within a couple of weeks. We sure feel a lot better when we eat clean meaning no gluten, dairy (except eggs), sugar and most carbs. It sucks the inflammation right out of your body which is terrible for you and the root cause of most diseases.

I think I’m in Boulder today and Ft Collins tomorrow. Mojo is in on his bed and happy everyone is home. Hope everyone is well, take care and God Bless.

Finally home

After leaving Casa Tortuga around 8am, we finally made it home around 11pm! We managed to get out of Belize early on the 11 o’clock in the morning flight only to be delayed in Houston until 8:30pm! Needless to say, everyone was dead tired. I threw in some laundry while Ty jumped in the bathtub and Jagger went straight to sleep. Lori had a bad stomach ache all day and finally we were all in bed by midnight. Then around 1am, the projectile vomiting began. Ty sat up in bed and boom, there it was. So up again we were stripping the bed sheets and getting them into the wash. We were too tired to put on new sheets so we just pulled up blankets and went to sleep.

Today we are back on the program, I must have gained 10 pounds in a week. Guess that’s what good cooking and pina colada’s will do for a guy. It was a great experience but we decided in the car ride home that we prefer Hawaii much more. First off, it’s easier to get to. Sure the flight’s longer but there are many more conveniences and there are waves. The one thing about Belize is there are no waves unless you are on the other side of the reef and that’s too deep of water to go in. The weather and tropics were great. We also decided that there’s lots of places close to home that don’t require multiple plane rides like Yellowstone and Mt. Rushmore. Both places we plan on getting to this summer.

We’re all up now at 7:33 sitting downstairs trying to wake up. I think everyone is peeling from too much sun and Mojo is glad his pack came home. (we’re the pack!)

Time to run, lots to do starting with the grocery store, then the gym, more laundry, a weeks worth of mail and on and on. Guess you all are doing fine. It’s like when I go to Europe for a week, I have no tv, American newspapers, etc. and nothing really changes. Our travel day could have been much worse but we skirted a bunch of long lines due to some brains and my travel status but after all, we were traveling during Spring Break, so it is what it is.

God Bless and God Bless home!

Headed home

Well our vacation has finally come to the end. It was so much more than what I could write each day. It will be good to get home, as its home. Yesterday we pretty much hung around the house, swam, played some games and had a bunch of laughs. Dinner was over the top again, jerk chicken, pork ribs, salad, beans and rice and banana cream pie. I’ll be spending a lot of time in the gym next week!

We’ll leave the house at 8am and be on our puddle jumper hopefully at 9am for the 15 minute flight to Belize City International Airport. Then 3 hours later will be on our way to Houston International Airport, clear customs and then head to Denver. If all goes right we’ll be back home around 9pm or so.

I peeled a bit on my back and chest from the sun but nothing bad. I think everyone is a little ready to get home although Lori is a beach girl at heart. Lots of pictures and stories to come but for now, time to run. Hope everyone is well, wish you all would comment sometimes as we always wonder how everyone is doing but never know. Too late now though as we’ll be home before we get a chance to read anything. Oh well, see you soon, God Bless.

Jagger is part fish

Boy can Jagger swim. He swam so hard today that he took a 2 hour nap in the hammock when we came back from snorkeling. Ty and Mom stayed back at the house and we made it back to meet them around 11:30. Maria made this chicken salad to die for, along with shrimp cerviche for lunch. It was again, of course, fantastic.

The rest of the day was spent hanging out around the pool. Some folks went to town but we stayed here as we did San Pedro yesterday. Lucky for us, we stayed as it was hot and crowded.

I think today we’re just hanging out here by the pool also. Maria is making her famous jerk chicken for me/us for dinner. She’s also making coffee cake for me for breakfast again as it was one of my favorites. And oh yeah, the pork chops last night, well they might have been the best I’ve ever had in my life! No wait, they were the best.

It was really windy all day, a nice breeze. It did make for tough snorkeling as the current really pushed us around. It’s still windy but that’s the tropics. I think it has something to do with the storms in the southern U.S.

That’s about it, time to run, take care and we’ll be home tomorrow with lots of pictures, God Bless.
