Lots of playing

First up, Happy St Patricks Day! Make sure to wear some green!

Now to the weekend, boy can our kids play! They play inside, outside, morning, noon and night. We just don’t know where they get all the energy. Yesterday Jag and I ran to Cabela’s early in the morning then we all ran to the mall and it was all surrounded by a bunch of playing. Ty had a friend come over from 2 until 4 but before that he, Jag, Ben, Sam and Sloan (the neighbor kids) all were playing and skateboarding outside. Of course they were in and out the front door so many times I think they wore out the hinge on the screen door. Finally they wound down at 7pm and came in to watch a show, eat some pancakes and udon noodles and get ready for bed. They’re like a blur, it’s great to be a kid!

Today Lori’s off to work and I have conference calls at 9 and 10:30am. Then I need to box and ship a little more wine and run up north to a few accounts. Tomorrow it’s off to the distributor and Wednesday to Vail, lots to do.

Haven’t heard much from anyone lately, hope you all are well, have to run as it’s 4:57 and I think I’ll hit the gym.

God Bless

Sunday sunday

Man the weekends almost over! I can’t believe how fast it went. Yesterday was a cold one, and I don’t mean like a beer. It started out with me going to the gym and then doing some work in the morning and then it was time for Jagger’s baseball clinic. Sports Authority put on two clinics, one in Miami and one in Denver. I signed Jag up for it while he was at camp as it was free, first come first serve, and was put on by a bunch of former professional baseball players and pro scouts. He was reluctant to go at first as he was still jet lagged from camp. (turns out this was common among all the kids that went to camp!) Ty came along as Lori went to get her hair done. We arrived and it felt like 15 degrees with intermintint snow showers (I sound like a weatherman). They were supposed to have 110 kids but only 42 showed up, 5 from our team.

This was great as that meant their was a better coach/player ratio and each boy had much more individual attention. There were 5 stations from pitching to hitting to fielding and more. Jag was great, always running first ahead of everyone when told to and listened well and soaked it all in. A former Chicago White Sox pitcher singled him out saying he’s got some ability even though he doesn’t yet know how to pitch. He told me that 95% of baseball can be learned but the other 5% is a gift from God meaning size, talent, drive, etc. He said he thinks Jag has the other 5%!

Anyhow at the end all the kids had a great time. Jag went up and shook each of the 13 coaches hands and thanked them personally, something we taught both boys years ago. We made it home a bit after 5pm and Mom was shortly behind us. We had some dinner, watched some tv and that was it. Today I’m not sure what’s going on, you’ll have to come back tomorrow to find out!

God Bless.

Everybody back together

After running all around town all morning, I made it to school around 12:20. Soon the school bus full of luggage showed up and I decided to give them a hand unloading it. After all there were just a few Mom’s and smallish dads and a whole bus full of heavy duffle bags, back packs and sleeping bags. I took charge right away and jumped up into the bus and started throwing the bags to the back of the bus where a Mom could easily hand them down to another parent who would then stack then against the fence. It took only 20 minutes or so and I had it unloaded. Then we all stood around as more parents arrived waiting for the two buses that would bring home the 6th graders from their week long adventure.

About 1:15 the buses pulled in and I heard “Dad” coming from the back window of the first bus. There was Jagger looking like he just came home from college all grown up. Now how could this happen, I mean it had only been a week? We jumped in the truck and headed home. I had some taxes to prepare and then we were off to the post office and then decided to go get Ty 20 minutes early. I took the boys to Dairy Queen and then home. Ty had planned to play with Vinny so after a little work around the house (starting laundry, Jag checking himself for ticks, cleaning the kitchen), we dropped Ty at Vinny’s house. Jag and I then ran to the mall where I had to return a couple things, we found him a $400 pair of shoes for $50, yea, hit the grocery store and headed back home. Vinny’s mom called saying the boys wanted to play until 9pm and that she’d feed them so I said ok. After all, Ty had been cooped up for two days sick.

Mom arrived home around 5:45 and Jagger, even though dead tired, wanted to go out to eat. So the three of us headed to Elways (our favorite restaurant) for a quick bite to eat and were home by 8. I picked up Ty at 9 and then it was off to bed. Jagger was so tired that he was starting to melt as it was bed time. Soon we were all down and headed to sleep.

Today Jagger has a baseball clinic with a bunch of professional players that’s held in only two cities, Denver and Miami. I think we might get snowed or rained out as his time slot is 2:30 until 4:30. Let’s hope not.

Time for me to get to the gym, hope everyone is well, take care and God Bless.

Jagger coming home

Today around 1pm Jagger will be arriving at school from Outdoor Lab. We’re all excited for him to come home. Ty has been home for the past two days but will be going to school today. Lori had a long day and Ty had to run with me to Fed Ex, Boulder (a couple of wine shops and the grocery store) and then downtown. After cleaning part of the house, and another trip to Fed Ex, we were done traveling for the day.

We had fresh halibut with a macadamia pesto sauce for dinner and boy was it good. Today I have to be across town early and then back here for a meeting at 12:30 and then I’ll pick up Jagger. Lori will undoubtedly be working until 5 or so.

Ty’s still coughing but no fever and he needs to make up two days of missed Tcap testing. Time to run, hope everyone is well, take care and God Bless.

back to school

Not sure if Ty is all better but he has to go back to school today as no one will be home to take care of him. He had an ear ache last night but no fever so he’ll be going for sure. Jagger comes home tomorrow, yeah, we can’t wait!

The house is a mess and I mean a real mess. With both of us working we just can’t seem to get ahead of it. We really need to just throw a bunch of stuff out. We so need to move just to get a fresh start, maybe we’ll get it all together by next month as this ones already gone.

Not much else, time to get moving, St. Patricks Day is next Monday and all the grocery stores already have corn beef ready. We love the buffalo corn beef we get out here, not sure if its available in California, but if so, go with it, just don’t overcook it!

Take care, God Bless.

One gone, one sick

We hope Jagger was warm enough last night up in the mountains as the temperature had to be zero or below up at camp. Meanwhile Mr. Ty, who had been complaining of a sore throat the day before, came down with a stuffy nose, cough and still had his sore throat. The only thing he is missing is a fever, thankfully. I always make a barrier with pillows as he sleeps with us when sick and I don’t want to catch it! I also pout Mom in the middle! He might have to stay home with me today, hope not but if he’s sick, there’s not a lot I can do.

I have a meeting at 4:30 in Cherry Creek so Lori will have to head home early either way. After I picked him up from school I made some chili and according to Lori, it was better than hers! It sure was good, I think we were both just starving. I’ve broken through the 220 pound barrier and am now about 218 1/2. I haven’t weighed below 220 for years. I’m not sure just what to call our new eating style (sort of paleo) but we both feel great, are not hungry and are losing fat not muscle. Anyhow most importantly, we’re not eating any processed food anymore. There’s just so much crap in our food, especially anything with a bar code on the package!

Guess I’ll run, hope everyone is well, the Broncos are doing great in free agency which started yesterday. (this is where we can sign guys away from other teams!)

Take care, God Bless.

Missing Jagger

It’s only the first morning but it sure is quiet around here! He’ll be home in 78 hours or Friday around 1:30. I’m sure he’s having a blast. When I dropped him at school, he said “bye dad” and ran off, I had to yell, “wait, give me a hug”, he came back and said “sorry, love ya, see ya” and just like that, he was off. It was like he was going to college or something. A few of the other mom’s said their boys were a bit nervous on the way to school about being gone from home for a week, but Jag seemed just fine. We wrote him 5 letters and mailed them up there 2 weeks ago so he’ll get some mail from us while he’s gone. Today it’ll be snowy and cold up there, but I’m sure the kids won’t mind.

Meanwhile after school, Mr. Ty and I had to run downtown to see a new restaurant. We then made it home around 4 or so and Mom showed up around 6pm. She had a big day as the girl at the front desk was out with the flu. Today she has another big day as Dr. Rodgers is overbooked. Lori had to talk with Diane who schedules appointments and tell her to stop booking so many appointments each day. Diane is on commission so she tends to cram as many people in as possible.

I need to run a bunch of samples around today in Denver and get the boys some water shoes for the ocean to protect their feet. We overslept until 7 so Lori’s rushing around right now and Ty’s with me on the couch. I don’t think we’ve quite recovered from the weekend trip and daylight savings time meaning moving the clocks forward.

That’s it, time to run, busy, busy, busy. Hope everyone is well, take care and God Bless.

Home safe and late and Outdoor Lab

We landed right around 9pm and were home by 10. It didn’t take us long to get in bed as Jag has Outdoor Lab this morning and Ty is back to TCAP, the annual school testing which is a waste of time and money. I had been upgraded to First Class but gave my seat to the misses and sat a few rows back in coach with the boys. It was good to see everyone in California even though it was quick. Don seemed fine yesterday when he woke up and is as sharp as ever. I told him we’ll have to do this again next year and he said yea but he’ll try not to be the entertainment. I’m sure it was a combination of not having been out for a good party and being 20 pounds or so lighter, other than that, he would have been fine.

It’s going to be nice today but then snowy tomorrow, which is too bad as Jagger will be up  on the mountains at Outdoor Lab. Ty yesterday on the plane was saying how much he was going to be missing him this week and then they hugged each other and Jag gave him a kiss on his head. See what Mom missed being in First Class! I think all of us will miss him for the next 4 nights as it’ll sure be different around here. Hope he has fun, I’m sure he will.  have a meeting today downtown at 3:30 so will need to find someplace for Ty to go for an hour. I think I’ll call my Mom to see if he can come for a visit.

Time to run, lots to do, hope everyone is well, take care and God Bless.

What a party

Yesterday we had a fun day, first off to see Bob and Eleanor, then back to the house, then a walk to the park and then everyone arrived at the house. We all headed to dinner at 5:30. It was in a great restaurant not too far away. The party went on for 3 hours or so with our boys and Kano who is Larry, ( Lori’s brother) and Haruko’s son. The kids played hard and had a great time.

We left to get the house in order and around 10:30pm received a call that Don was taken to the hospital in an ambulance! Lori and Kristin headed over around 11 or so to emergency to meet everyone while I stayed with the boys. Turns out he was unresponsive, apparently from whooping it up a bit too much with adult beverages at his 88th bday party. They made it back around 12:30 or 1 and then we tried to get some shut eye. Then the phone rang at 4:30 am or so as Don was ready to come home! So Lori and I jumped in the car and headed to the hospital with his oxygen (they wouldn’t release him without it) to pick him up. By 5am we were all back at the house. Don went to bed and so did Lori and I.

So, what a fun evening. Today we’ll leave for the airport around 3pm. I’m running late already due to daylight savings time. Gotta run, God Bless.

Sunny California

Well after an hour and a half drive in sleet and snow to the airport, a quick dinner at Elways (the new one at the airport) and an hour flight delay, we boarded for California. We landed at 10:15 and made it to Grandma Dixie’s around 11:15. Needless to say, everyone fell right asleep, the boys on the airbed in the living room and Lori and I in the guest room.

This morning we’re running over to see Bob and Eleanor and then I think back here. Kristin is driving up from Los Angeles and the other 3 kids (or family’s are arriving this morning. Tonight we’re all going to a great restaurant for the birthday celebration at 6pm.

It’s warm outside compared to Denver and the boys are climbing the tree in the front yard. Dixie looks good and is getting around great! I’m surprised she’s doing so well.

Time to get moving, hope all’s well, take care and God Bless
