Another win!

No matter what’s going on in life that’s a challenge, when the Broncos win, it doesn’t seem to be such a big deal. That was especially true yesterday when we laid over 50 points on the Eagles, what fun! The boys had a blast as always, as they always seem to get some fun eats and Bronco swag out of me as that’s what Dad’s do. Anyhow, again, what a great win!

This morning our water gets shut off at 8am for the whole day while the water company digs up the street on our block to replace the 50 year old pipes. Wonder what we’ve been drinking?

Also today we have a looming government shutdown, whoo hoo, go ahead, shut it down. But of course the Congressmen and Senators still get paid. They are fighting over delaying the individual mandate on Obama Care. What galls me is none of the Senators or Congressmen have to participate but no one seems to notice or care. I guess everyone is used to the “elite” ruling class getting special treatment. They’re awful good at sitting up there making rules for the rest of us that they don’t have to follow.

I have to go as the more I think about this stuff, the more I get pissed off. Plus Jag has to go to inter-murals and I need to shower before the water is shut off.

God Bless.

PLEASE BE ADVISED, I AM SICK AND TIRED OF ANSWERING QUESTIONS ABOUT MY DOG!!!!!

YES, HE MAULED SIX PEOPLE WEARING OBAMA T-SHIRTS,
FOUR PEOPLE WEARING PELOSI T-SHIRTS,
NINE TEENAGERS WITH PANTS HANGING PAST THEIR CRACK,
THREE FLAG BURNERS, AND A PAKISTANI TAXI DRIVER. For the last time, my dog is NOT for sale!

NO, I DO NOT APPROVE OF HIS SMOKING, BUT HE SAYS IT HELPS GET THE “BAD TASTE” OUT OF HIS MOUTH!

Take a deep breath

The misses worked and worked for the past 3 days virtually non stop. I should have been paying her instead of Harry she did so much. When I asked her why she did all this work she said she felt bad not helping and wanted to learn about the tile. The problem was Harry took this to mean he didn’t have to “finish the job” and I think in his mind figured the misses was supposed to do half the work. If I was home I would have told her not to do such and such and reminded Harry what we (he) agreed to at the start of the job. The one common theme with workers these days seems to be that they all forget what they agree to at the start of the job and then want to renegotiate or do less than what was agreed to when it takes longer or seems harder than first anticipated. Oh well, it is what it is. I’ll jump in and help her finish the job and we’ll move on.

She picked me up and then Jag and I dropped her at the Brown Palace and were supposed to get her at 1:30. One of the girls coming to the tea was almost an hour late so she texted saying she had a ride home and would be a bit late. The boys and I then headed off to 2 hours of baseball tryouts and I unfortunately left my phone in the car. When I checked it I had 13 missed calls from the misses! Turns out after going to another friends remarkable 1900 something mansion in Cherry Creek after the tea, our Aspen friend had one too many glasses of champagne and didn’t feel comfortable driving the misses home. So she was stuck downtown until 4:30 when we could pick her up after tryouts.

We finally made it home after 5pm and threw on some steaks and settled in to the construction zone for some much needed rest. I think everyone in the family had no more than 4 hours of sleep the night before.

Even though I was tired, I have to tell you about how I fly and get through airports these days. Remember I’m now a 1K Premier, the highest level on United. Well much to my surprise, I’m now also a TSA Pre Screen meaning I go through a super duper special line that is really no line at all, I don’t have to take off my shoes or belt or jacket, I don’t have to take my laptop out of my bag or even take my liquids out or put them in a plastic bag! I had no idea as this must be a new program, all I know is it makes me happy happy happy! It’s like flying 25 years ago with no security! When I asked how I was lucky enough to get in this group, they told me it was because of my status, whoo hoo! It literally saves me almost an hour on each flight, plus I hate freakin standing in line, any line!

Today we’re all going to the Bronco game as we go as a family to one game a year. The misses would rather stay home and work but she needs a break even if I have to force her to take one. I should send her to the spa as she says everything on her body hurts, even her teeth!

My meeting was great in Seattle, probably the best one in ten years, humbly thanks to me. Anyhow, glad its over as it’s a lot of work and pressure.

It’s almost October and we could have snow this week, they say as low as 7000 feet. Today though will be a super nice day.

So time to run, lots to do, take care and God Bless.

High Tea

Another late post.

Harry left at 1:20 a.m. to sleep a bit before he left for Colfax, CA where he lives. I told him to go and rest and I would finish up on the bathroom. Silly me! I didn’t realize that cleaning off the tiles would entail a minimum of 15 trips up and 15 tips down the stairs with a full bucket of water. Unfortunately, it took me until 3:38 a.m. to finish the first round of cleaning. No wonder Harry said, “Thanks!” when I said I would finish up.

When I crawled into bed the oldest woke up, so I told him to please not wake me when they(he and his brother)woke up in the morning…feed themselves leftover pizza for breakfast(the staple of the past 3 days). Of course the Mr. was flying in from Seattle at 10:21 and I had to be at the Brown Palace Hotel for High Tea at noon. I would have loved to cancel tea, but I could not do that to my friend from Aspen…especially since the High Tea reservation was made well in advance of the remodel.

Last night…this morning…I left a text for the Mr. to pleeeeease take a cab…get a ride…anything to ensure that I did not have to drive to the airport in “High Tea” attire and readiness. Unfortunately, he called and texted at 7:00 a.m. that I did in deed need to pick him up…Ugg. Reluctantly I got up, showered fed one of my kiddos(the other was already playing across the street) and headed off to DIA.

Happy to have him home…I’m very tired, so the Mr. will write the post tomorrow and fill you all in on the goings on in Seattle at the “All Hands Meeting”

xoxoL

Darn Dog

Good morning….not! Lacey barked at us all day yesterday. She literally stood 12 inches away from Jagger and barked for 2 hours straight. We tried letting her out, throwing the ball, checking and changing her water along with anything else we could think of.  I think all she wanted was food. She is so deaf now that I’m afraid she doesn’t hear herself barking and just keeps going….I’ll take her to the vet next week…another ear infection and perhaps we will take out her bark box out. (Just kidding)

Both boys were train wrecks last night. They miss their daddy, as do I.

I have to drag all of the trash…bathroom guts… out to the curb for the sweet garbage man to pick up for us. The Mr. gave the Trashman a big tip last week and the Trashman said he would take away our rubbish.

Time to go….

Love to all and god bless.

Late Post

So, the Mr. was awake at 2:30, the oldest at 3:30 and we all got out of bed at 5:00 a.m. Well everyone but the youngest…he slept until 6.

The Mr. left for Seattle at 6:15 and I took the oldest to intramurals at 7..I also picked up the youngest’s homework that he thought he brought home…I was back home and helping with homework at 7:10 and off to take the youngest to school at 8:00.

I went to Lowes after that for a few extra supplies, then down to the office for 2 hours…stopped at Home Depot for 3 pieces of tile, a 4ft x 2ft board to put over the floor tile and some brown calking.

Harry got to the house a little before 8… worked a bit and enjoyed some quality time with his mom and Lois for Lunch at Lois’s. Harry and I arrived at the house at the same time. I started working on the walls and he continued on the shower tile

I picked up 1 child at 2:45 and had to return an hour later for the oldest, because he had the High Jump for an hour after school….back home…more mud on the wall…and I just caved and ordered them a pizza.

My dad called yesterday and had quite a fall and a long trip to the Emergency room to stitch up his head and run every test known to man. Fortunately Grandma Eleanor was there to call 911 and spend the night in the ER with him. I hope they are getting some well earned rest! You are all in our prayers…please take care.  More to do tonight…

Love to ALL AND GOD BLESS!

Another great game

In a year of upsets (sorry 49r fans) the Broncos continue to roll on. While the day was filled with construction and conference calls, the night was filled with touchdowns!

We left about 4:45 and after picking up our friends, were at the game by 5:45. It was a fun filled game with Jeff and Tina who are a blast. We left with about 4 minutes to go to beat the traffic as we had to run them home before heading home ourselves. We’re dragging a little bit this morning but up and about which is good as Harry will be back at 7am to continue working on the bathroom.

Lots to do today so time to run, hope all’s well, God Bless

A big week

Lots going on (what’s new) this week. Today the misses and Harry (our friend from Colfax CA) hopefully start rebuilding the bathroom. The misses has it stripped down to the sub floor and its ready to go. Then tonight we’re going to Monday Night Football and then Wednesday I leave for Seattle for 3 days. Hopefully the bathroom will be finished when I arrive home.

Snow fell last night in the mountains and it looks like we might just skip Fall! It’s my favorite season so I hope we don’t but it’s supposed to be a cool week with more snow in the hills.

I have lots of computer work to do today and tomorrow to get ready for our Company’s annual meeting this week so I’ll be little to no help with the bathroom. This shouldn’t matter as the misses has done most all of it anyhow. My main job is to figure out how to pay for it all. Not sure which is more difficult. We are accepting donations otherwise when you visit you just might find we now have pay toilets!

Hope it’s not raining tonight at the game, it will be cool though, just like football weather should be.

Time to run, no politics today, nothing has changed, the Country is going to hell and you know who is out of control and a total train wreck. (guess that’s a little politics!)

God Bless

Good morning

Hope everyone’s weekend is going well. We’ve been busy as usual. After some work around the house and two trips downtown in the morning, we headed out to the youngest guys lacrosse game where he played well. Meanwhile Jag was at Jens. After the game, the youngest went to his friends Scotts house until around 7pm when he and Scott then came to our house for a sleep over. Jag came home about 4pm and went to the party with us downtown.

The party was fun, complete with a food truck specializing in Argentine food. It was a fun idea as there was no cooking or clean up. I don’t know what they charged our hosts but it was a pretty good idea.

We came home at 7, watched a little tv and then headed to bed. Lacey the lab was barking at 4:30 or so again this morning. I’m not sure what to do with her, I get up, feed Mojo and put her in the crate where she seems to be quiet. She doesn’t want or need to go out so she’s purely barking for food, which I won’t reward her with. One way or another, this is going to stop. We’ve even tried feeding her a little extra right before bed but that doesn’t seem to help. My next step will be getting her a crate of her own and having her sleep in that, maybe that’ll work. All I know is the family cannot be woken up every morning between 4:30 and 5am. We’ll keep you posted. She’s quiet now at 6am and still has not had breakfast.

Time to run as the boys want some cinnamon rolls for breakfast. The store doesn’t open for another 90 minutes so maybe I’ll get in some exercise. We have baseball today at 3 and football to watch before that and tomorrow night is the Raider game and Monday Night Football. We’re going with some friends, can’t wait.

Take care and God Bless.

Outdoor Lab

This morning we’re all going up to the mountains to visit the 6th grade Outdoor Lab. This is a place where every 6th grader in Jefferson County (I went when I was a 6th grader) goes for a week. You may remember when we started school we were surprised by a $350 registration fee that was for Outdoor Lab, well this is it.

Lots more to do like some work and then a big party this evening at our good friends Jeff and Tina. They’re doing things a little different this year with the food. They’ve hired some great food truck to pull up at their house that will be feeding everyone all night long, should be fun.

The misses enlisted the help of Steve our neighbor to take the mirror out of the bathroom which had to be broken as they glued it to the wall. She, on her own, went to the store and turned off the water, installed some new valves to keep it off and then took out the sink. She’s pretty handy, at least with the demolition part. Here’s Annette’s thoughts,

Annette says:

Call Jim for any tricks on tile. He is doing someones bathroom now and has done a lot of tile in his life time. You are right you are very good at all that stuff and I’m sure it will be beautiful. Doug you should know bathrooms and kitchens run about 2x the budget no matter what the budget . YOU GO GIRL!

Well the budget part is true as I know she’s already twice over. She has no idea where she is at financially but does have an idea what she wants to do, I hope!

Oh well, whatever makes her happy right? Take care, time to run, have a great weekend and God Bless. Now read this,

“Give Me My Food Stamps”

As of this week fully 25% of American households – about 48 million people – are dependent on government food stamps to put food on the table.

The system is plagued with fraud on every level. Food stamp scams are rampant, with recipients often off-loading their monthly electronic benefit transfer cards for cash value. Mega lobbies spend tens of millions of dollars a year just to keep the pump primed and the funds flowing so that companies like Walmart and 7-11 can keep their revenues up. Big banks, including behemoths like JP Morgan, are cashing in by providing the processing facilities to make it happen.

It’s a racket.

There are hundreds of billions of dollars on the line every month and as an American taxpayer you are paying for it all.

Earlier this week Congressional Republicans passed a bill that would eliminate food stamp loop holes, requiring adults between the ages of 18 and 50 without minor children to find a job or enroll in a work training program in order to continue receiving benefits. The move was immediately rejected by Democrats and social aid groups, who claimed the new regulations would force millions of people into poverty.

If this new measure were to make it through the Senate and the President’s desk (which it likely won’t), millions would be thrown into poverty according to opponents.

Now consider what happens when the government of the United States hits a brick financial ceiling, where they can no longer dole out these funds. Or, we continue to print more money keeping the food stamp system operational, but insufficient with respect to supporting the needs of recipients because the price of food goes through the roof.

Fifty million dependents would immediately run out of the ability to use these cards for food (or extra cash if they are reselling them).

The result?

It should be clear.

There will be riots on the streets of America , likely turning to looting as people hit back at the system that is no longer providing them the welfare they need.

When the Food Stamps stop all hell will break loose.

At least the GOP is trying. There used to be a provision that if you received food stamps, you had to work or at least look for a job but of course the Pres eliminated that little detail years ago when he first took office, hmmmmm.
