May 3rd

Hurray..the snow has melted and my tulips made it through the freeze.  The temperatures are supposed to be in the mid 70’s this weekend.

The Mr.  is off to see  the knee specialist in Vail this morning.  He is seeing Dr. Sterritt(Lindsay Vonn’s doc)at 8:30.  The Mr. says, “If he can fix Lindsay’s knee just think what he can do for me.”  If just hope the Mr. doesn’t start dating Tiger Woods .

I’ve been trying and trying to get a hold of my friend Kristin (Aunti Kristin to the boys)The Mr. took things into his own hands and actually got in touch with her yesterday.  She is flying in tonight for my birthday present and flying out early Sunday morning.  I’m super excited…we are going to spend Saturday morning at a friend’s Spa and just chill out and relax.

The oldest wants to hang out with his Dad and go to Vail this morning(Dad’s suggestion)I am just not sure about missing school.  Both boys are already awake and sitting in either side of me.  The dogs are lobbying for attention…meaning they both want us to pet them and rub their ears.  The big dog keeps putting his paw up to be rubbed and his nose on the computer keyboard…you’ll have to excuse the typos.

The oldest has a baseball game on Saturday at 11:00 and the youngest wants a…..playdate. I can’t believe the week has already flown by.  Mother nature keeps tricking me into thinking that I have months and months to get into shape before summer and come up with a continuing education plan for the boys.  Yikes!

The youngest is in desperate need of a haircut sometime today, Lacey has her 3rd follow-up appointment at the Vet for her ear infection, and I have an acupuncture appointment at noon.  In between I need to clean the house before Kristin gets here.  Lucky for me her flight doesn’t get in until 10:00p.m…. only 2 hours past my bed time.

The Mr. is hungry, so I am off to make breakfast.

Have a great day and…

Record Low Temeratures

Good morning.  Outside the trees and yards are surrounded in a winter wonderland.  The temperatures dropped down to 20 degrees last nigh.  The roads were so bad last night that they sent out warnings not to drive.  The roads had sheets of ice covering them and boy were there a lot of accidents! I’m glad we didn’t need to go out.

The boys had a relatively quiet night and we got them to bed at 8:oop.m.  After two nights of staying up until 10:00 they were in desperate need of a good nights sleep.

I seemed to work on my presentation for today’s meeting at the Plastic Surgery office all day yesterday and I really don’t feel that I got anything done.  I’m sure that I did, but the Practice Manager is still not very supportive in my opinion. I’ll continue to “Kill her with kindness.”

The Mr. and Lorenzo had a couple of meetings yesterday and then we all went out to lunch.  After lunch the Mr. drove Lorenzo to the airport…luckily his flight left before DIA started canceling flights.

Mojo is loving the snow and Lacey is like a puppy these days.  She is on steroids for her ear infections and boy does that take the signs of old age away.

I’m off to make breakfast and prepare for my day.

Snowy May Day

L1030506The snow is falling at a steady pace.  The temperature is supposed to get down to 21 degrees tonight…Oh how I hope the Cottonwood trees freeze their buds off.  Although, they say, “If you don’t like the weather in Colorado wait five minutes,” it still feels very strange to wake up on May 1st to falling snow. The snow is heavy and wet and it is sticking to the tree branches…beautiful.

The oldest had practice after school for the Talent Show.  When I got to school to pick him up he asked that I wait outside while he finished up.  One of the parents at the school has volunteered every year to be in charge of the Talent Show including volunteering to hold practice twice a week.  We have the most supportive group of parents. When the oldest was done with practice we headed home to finish up homework and get ready for the WFCO meeting and wine tasting.

The kiddos said, “Bye Mom, love you” and walked down to Uncle T. and Aunti B’s for the evening.  The Mr., Lorenzo and I got in our SUV and traveled slowly in traffic to our friends palatial dream home.  We arrived early enough to help finish all the preparations before the rest of the 2o something ladies arrived.  We had a productive meeting and the Mr showered me with wonderful compliments.  Lorenzo and the Mr. were the hit of the night as always.  The women soaked up every little word that rolled off their tongues.  The wines were fabulous as always (I believe most of the ladies ordered wine) and the two gentlemen were captivating.  The men were so captivating in fact that the women who usually leave right on time stayed an extra hour plus.  I called Aunti B. to let her know that we wouldn’t be there to pick up the boys until 9:30 or so.  Thank you Uncle T. and Aunti B. for hanging in there with our ever changing schedule.

The Nuggets won last night, so the Mr. and Uncle T. are ecstatic….we now have to win in Oakland.

I’ve got to run to make breakfast and get this snowy day started.

God Bless

Good Food and A Lot Of Support

The boys played together most of the day.  Sometimes well…sometimes not so well.  They had all sorts of toy swords out in the backyard.  The boys moved lawn furniture and Mojo’s dog house around to make one base camp and used the play structure for the other.  That was the backyard…in the front yard they had the wiggly sprinkler attached to the hose and turned it on full force…the laughter was intoxicating and the tears were minimal.

We found a child sitter at the very last possible moment.  A friend of mine has a daughter that drives..I thought she was only 12 or 13…time does really fly by. Anyway, I was happily surprised that Madeline was available to watch the kids.

The dinner was a success.  Everyone raved about the food.  We had a really fun table..Carl, Libby, Libbys’ 89 year old mom, Patty,  Allen and Steph, Doug and I and Lorenzo would stop by every so often, as he was working the room.  The wines were of course fabulous(I did not partake).  I had shrimp and scallops with creamy polenta and the Mr had braised short ribs with horseradish mashed potatoes.  Yummy.

The Silent Auction did well…everything sold!  All in all we probably raised 3to5 thousand dollars for the Sherrif’s Employee Assistance Fund.  Not bad for our first try!

Today is another busy day.  Tonight is as well.  We have the WFCO Womens Foundation of Colorado)committee dinner and wine tasting tonight.

I have to run…time to get breakfast for muchkins ready.

Have a great day, apologies for the short post.

No School

Good morning.   The old dog started barking at…yep..5:15 a.m. We told her “No”, she kept on barking, one shrill yelp at a time.  We continued to tell her “No” and finally called her back upstairs and had her lie down.  She did come up and lie down, however she was panting so loudly that we could not go back to sleep.  The Mr. got up with her this time and put her in the crate. He then fed the big dog and the old dog continued to bark in that pleasant high pitched yelp.  When she finally quieted down I fed her. Bossy old dog.

The boys had a blast yesterday.  The oldest was all suited up to ride when I came down from my shower, and the youngest had already been to the store with daddy to buy a birthday gift for his friend.

We all went up to Grandma’s so the boys could ride their bikes…one motorized…the other powered by 9 year old legs.  The oldest learned to shift which is not as easy as it sounds, since the bike is a full size bike and he has to shift with his foot and the clutch.  Not your little kid type bike that shifts from the handle bars.  They both had a lot of fun and we had fun watching them.L1030505L1030504

The Mr. has to pick Lorenzo up from the airport at 9:00 a.m. and I have two days of laundry to catch up on. Bummer!  I would prefer to be outside planting something pretty, or something we can eat.

The boys are off school, as we mentioned before.  I do not have a sitter for tonights event or tomorrow nights event.  I’ve called every sitter we have ever used, but they all have something…work, soccer, lacrosse, etc.  Maybe Grandma or Uncle T. would enjoy their company?

The Mr. also needs to go to the distributer to pick up wine sometime today and I still need to go to Kinkos to have cards made up.   It is time to make breakfast and start the day.

God Bless

We Won!

The baseball game was great to watch.  The boys all played so well.  The third baseman and the second baseman trapped a runner that was trying to still third and tagged him out.  The catcher and the third baseman caught a runner of guard and tagged him out on the runners way to home.  The Mr. told that catcher that the play was incredible and the catcher replied, “I’m having and incredible game!” Our guy got a great hit, it was a close race to first base, but the first baseman dropped the ball, so our guy was “SAFE!” The next batter got a hit as well…directly to the second baseman…our guy ran right into the second baseman and the kid dropped the ball.  When the oldest made it to third the third base coach said, “Let me touch you, so I can buy a lottery ticket on the way home.  You are the luckiest kid around!”  After scoring a run our guy had the biggest smile…intoxicating!  The umpires stopped the game about 25 minutes early due to a “Mercy Rule” I guess we were up by so many runs that they call the game.  I’m not clear on that rule yet.  Needless to say our team was really happy to have the win.

The youngest stayed home and played with his friend that lives across the street.  They had dinner over here and then returned to Ben’s house for a sleepover.  Today is Ben’s birthday party, so we will be spending the afternoon at the Rec Center for a pool party.  The youngest reminded us that we have yet to celebrate his “Friend” party.  At this point I may as well wait for summer and have a pool party.  We’ll see.

Guess who started barking at 5:35 on a Sunday morning?  Yep…Lacey.  I can attribute some of her bad behavior to the steroids she is on for her ear infection, but the rest is just Lacey believing that she is in control of when she gets fed.  I got up and put her in the crate…fed Mojo, and went back upstairs until she finally stopped barking.  I then came down and fed her. Grrr!

The Mr. has a torn meniscus in his right knee.  We have Lorenzo coming into town tomorrow and the boys are off school.  We have events Monday and Tuesday night, so the Mr. won’t be able to make it to the Dr. for any relief until Thursday.  His knee is really swollen and he is in quite a bit of pain.  Poor guy.

I think we will try to get a little yard work done this morning and I have to make a trip to Kinkos to have $50 gift cards made for one of the aesthetic office procedures.  I want to give them to the women at the CWFC wine event Tuesday night.

The oldest will most likely ride his dirt bike today while I am at the Rec center with the youngest.

My first birthday card arrived in the mail yesterday.  It is from my dad.  His is always the first to arrive.  I wish I were on top of birthdays like he is.  I always seem to send mine out at the very last moment and that actually causes me internal stress.  Maybe that can be a “Half Yearly” New Years Resolution, or just a life resolution.  I believe the next birthday after me will be Aunti B…July 7th.  I should just send hers out now and really be ahead of the game.

Speaking of Aunti B….she stopped by yesterday with treats for the dogs and super cute cupcakes with little green frosting turtles on top.  The boys were ecstatic when they saw them.  The dogs, the boys and I thank you.  As I’ve said before, if it weren’t for Aunti B. our dogs would never get treats or new toys. Here’s a comment from Annette.

Annette says:

Cute picture. Post some of him ridding. Sounds like you all are busy all day as usual. It is going to be in the high 80′s here tomorrow. Yea. Now you are getting smart and feeding Lacey when she is’t barking. Have fun at baseball but leave a blanket in the car just in case.

Saturday

Good morning…the darn dog started barking at 5:36a.m.  When she finally stopped at 6:00a.m. I got up to feed, water and let her out.  The Mister is still sleeping, as are both boys.  They all need a few extra zzz’s.  All is quiet downstairs…except for the continual panting of dog breath and the sound of clicking doggy toe nails as Lacey paces around the house on her life long hunt for morsels of food that someone may have dropped.  She let herself out for mini walks yesterday.  I’m so glad that she is smart enough to open the door when she wants a little fresh air.

After picking up the boys from school yesterday the Mr. took the oldest on an errand for the Fundraiser and to grab a bite to eat. I, on the other hand took the youngest out for noodles and yogurt.  He said it was the best lunch ever…not because of the food, but because we were together…just the two of us.  He even told me that I am the best mom.  I will cherish 4-26-13 forever!

When we returned home the oldest was all suited up to go and ride his dirt bike in Grandma’s pasture with the Mr.  The youngest and I had to wait for the plumber.  They were gone for about an hour and came home without the bike.  The oldest wanted me to come to Grandma’s with him and watch him handle his dirt bike.  As we walked up together he explained the mechanics of the clutch and shifting gears.  All very interesting. When we arrived at Grandma’s he jumped on the bike and after a couple of failed attempts to start it…off he went.  Round and round…turning right and then turning left.  Toward the end of his run he decided to ride around the bank of the pond(the pond is empty)and then jump the edge.  He handled himself very well and had a blast riding.  He looks so darn grown up in all of his gear.L1030499

I believe he would like to ride again sometime today(probably all day, everyday).  Later today he has a baseball game.  We will all need to load up on sunscreen since game time is 3:00p.m. (he has to be there 45 minutes early to warm up) and that is when the sun is at it’s strongest.

The youngest just came down to snuggle with me on the couch.  His little feet are so nice and warm…like two little mini heaters.

I hear the Mr. moving around upstairs, so I am off to preheat the oven to cook BACON…yummy.

Have a great day and God Bless

Early Release

Yep…the kiddos get out of school at 11a.m. this morning.  The District is testing to determine placement for the next school year.  That just seems crazy to me, because over the summer the kiddos do not retain all the information they learned the year before….and the kids are off on Monday, because the school tests alphabetically.  This morning is A-F.  This afternoon is G-L and so it continues through Monday.

The youngest had to stay in during recess yesterday because I told him not to take his unfinished homework to school yesterday since he would be there on Friday and Friday is when homework is due. OOPS! I guess thats what happens when you are a micro-managing mommy.  He was quite unhappy when he got home, but on the brighter side…the youngest did get to hone in his reading skills during recess.

The oldest had Talent show practice and the youngest went over to…yes…a friend’s to play for a couple of hours.  After talent show the Mister took the oldest to baseball practice and dropped him off in order to return home and watch “The Draft”  The Mister stayed up late watching the draft, and waiting for Denver to choose their player(28th overall pick).  The Mr. was not overjoyed at Denver’s pick and even less overjoyed that the team that picked right after us traded with Minnesota for 4 picks.  He came upstairs grumbling distastefully, “Where were ya on that one Elway?” ” Our pick was a good pick, just not a flashy pick.” We will have to wait to see if our 28th pick pans out.

I have to pick up a few donations for the Silent Auction and dinner we are putting on for Jefferson County Sheriffs Dept. Employee Assistance Fund this morning.  The Mister did an amazing job throwing this together.  We have some great items being donated by some of our very good friends.  An oil painting from our friend at the Gallery, 2 organic sugar scrub pedicures, an entire Anti-Aging system from Dr. Rodgers, a facial renewal treatment from Libby just to name a few.  Lorenzo our friend and winemaker is flying in for the event and is graciously speaking at the EAF dinner.  To top it off…when the Mr. picked up the youngest from his buddy’s house, my friend gave a $100 donation to the EAF fund.  Hurray!!!

I posted a facebook post for the event that I am putting on for Dr. Rodgers, as the website people, haven’t gotten the email blast put together or sent out and we only have 3 weeks until the event date.  I feel like the Practice Manager is undermining me at almost every turn.  I confronted her on the lack of support she is offering yesterday, but of course she told me how happy she is that I am at the office.  Yet, when I got home she had sent an email that was quite frankly…not supportive of my efforts to grow the practice.  That is okay…all the other girls are thrilled that I am there. Now I’ll have to recruit all of my family and friends to come to the Beauty and Bellinis event, because I feel that the reason that the eblast has not been sent out is…the practice manager.

I did get one of the drug reps to give me 6 syringes of a filler.  In the 9 years that she has been working for the company she has never done such a big incentive….yea me!  That was my favorite part  of work last week!  It is quite fun!

Time to get the boys going for school.

God Bless

Take Your Kid To Work Day

Good morning.  The sun is just coming up casting an orange and pink glow across the horizon.  There is not a cloud in the sky and the temperature is already 15 degrees warmer than it was at this time yesterday.

The youngest is doing research on football for a 3rd grade project.  He started telling us about the Roman football games and that the coach of the losing team would be decapitated.  He went on tho say, “That would certainly be unpleasant.”  He says the funniest things.

Here’s some comments from yesterday. I will now be doing the blog for the foreseeable future until I can hopefully talk the mister into doing it again but that might take a while. He’s  just burned out on it a little bit.

  1. Lori says:

    I’ll do the post.
    llf

  2. Blondie says:

Good because I would miss all the main characters: Mister, Misses, The Dogs, the Youngest, Oldest, LOL, Aunt B and Uncle T and more! You must carry on the legacy of these people! It is fun to read also….we only discuss Blog with each other and don’t discuss with others! Hope you continue:)

  3. Annette says:

Please, please, please don’t stop. This is a way for me to be part of your everyday life. I feel as if I am so much closer to you guys and the kids through the blog. I get to know your side of the family, Doug and your friends and neighbors. I don’t know what happened but please know Jean and I love the blog, politics and all, (besides you know I’m on your side in politics). I brag to all my friends about you all the time. I don’t care who writes the blog, but please don’t stop. Doug put your chin up and know that that a lot of people love you and opinions are like assholes (sorry) and everyone has one. L give him a hug and I don’t care who writes but someone please write.

    • Please don’t stop writing the blog, it’s very important for both of us, especially grandpa bob! We have enjoyed it everyday, you have been informative. It’s fun to hear about the kids, and you and Lori’s adventures. We love you!!

Thank you for all the support.  I know(we know) that it keeps all of you that don’t live in the area in the loop of our “growing and changing” lives.

The kids want to stay home today because it is National “Take Your Kid To Work Day.”  The oldest said he could hang out in the basement with his dad and take notes.  The youngest wants to go with me to Dr. Rodgers office and see what goes on behind the scenes for a surgeon.

I got the guest room cleaned out yesterday,if you all remember the boys turned it into a fort by taking a twin mattress and laying it across the two twin beds.  They also had the floor covered with giant pillows, sleeping bags and blankets.  The fort was complete with a T.V. dvd player and a cozy chair.  Needless to say…it took a bit of time to tare down.

I donated the extra twin mattress and box spring to a church that is taking care of a little old lady with the beginning signs of dementia.  She has no family and her friends are members of her church.  The woman that picked up the mattress was so very thankful, full of light and good energy. She also had an Australian accent that made it that much more fun to chat with her.

I’m off to make breakfast..the oldest has a band performance, May 9th, the Talent Show, May 10th, and a School performance, May 17th.  Busy month…mark your calendars.

      God Bless.

A good run…04-24-13

L1030496Today I believe will be my last post. It occurred to me the other day that if you don’t want people talking or gossiping about you, keep your words and thoughts to yourself, so that’s what I’ve decided to do.

You see, a little bit of information or knowledge in anything is a bad thing. It usually gives people what they believe, the ability to judge or make decisions when in reality, they are usually way off base as they don’t have all the facts. With the limited amount of time I have to write every morning, this can and does easily happen here. So to save you all any more concern or worry, I’m done. I will miss sharing my views on politics but feel better knowing I’m not causing anyone any concern. I’m really disappointed and maybe down the road I’ll change my mind but as for now, I have to let it, and the blog go.

So there you have it, take care, God Bless.
