Spring forward

We moved our clocks ahead an hour and it’s now 7:35. It’s a little cloudy outside but no new snow. Yesterday the inch we had, was basically all slush so it was real heavy. Lori and I made a Costco run as well as Walmart. Walmart is just gross.

Today it’s the gym and then some cleaning up around here. The Oscars are tonight, (we don’t watch since it went all woke) but we just saw they replaced the red carpet with a champagne carpet. That too has something to do with not offending or pandering to some extremist group, who knows, who cares.

We can’t wait to go to Arizona! Super excited. So are the boys!

We found out yesterday that Greg Erwin, our friend from Aspen, passed away. If you remember, he was the first attorney with a trillion dollars worth of securities under him, which were basically derivatives. He single handily invented them. Greg was a brilliant guy who came from humble beginnings, a lot like dad. He though was from Nebraska, not Kansas. He battled a bad case of Parkinson’s for years. You might remember, they sent Jagger to a seminar when he was 15 or so, down in Texas, for future leaders. He was worth over a billion dollars, easy. There’s a celebration of life in Aspen June 24th. We’ll all go. He loved talking with the boys. He’ll be missed. We talked with his wife Billie yesterday and she’s doing fine as it was kind of expected. She kept him alive a good ten years past what he would have lived. Sort of like what Lori has done with Dixie.

Speaking of Dixie, she had a bad day mentally. She was in martyr mode and kept saying she didn’t feel wanted and wanted this and that. Lori went to bring her up to the house, which is what she wanted, only to be spurned and told that no, “nobody wants me, I’m not going”. You just have to roll with it, she’ll be 92 in about 3 weeks.

Time to go. Enjoy your Sunday. God Bless.

Snow

Well, we didn’t get the 2 or 3 feet forecasted but it did snow. We probably have an inch outside here at the house. Last night, at the last minute, Lori, Addy, James and I went into Vail for dinner at a new tappa’s place owned by long time friends, and when we left, it was dumping. The drive home was not fun. I drove so Lori and I dropped James and Addy about 9:30. Dinner was so so but they just opened. Addy made reservations and called us about 4 in the afternoon. Steve and Lisabetta who own La Bottega where the boys worked years ago own it. La Bottega had a flood a few months ago so their whole staff was now working here. We had a lot of fun. At the end of dinner, a table or two of out of towners started taking pictures but James, as usual, handled it well. Still annoying but it is what it is.

Andrea took Ty to get his license so we didn’t have to drive to Denver. Lori and I worked most of the day. I think the snow is done but am not sure. We could get another inch or so.

SVB, our former bank 10 years ago, went belly up yesterday. This could just be the beginning of some poorly managed banks troubles. Biden wants to raise taxes such as capital gains to 39.6% and the worst part is he wants to tax unrealized income. This means if you have a million in the stock market and your stock goes up $500K, you have to pay tax on the $500K even if you haven’t taken it out of the market! Unbelievable. More here later, hopefully it never passes.

Lori and I stopped by the Sheriff’s department yesterday to renew our concealed weapons permits. They expire in four months and we never let those lapse. Daylight savings time starts tonight. Turn your clocks forward and hour!

Time to shovel. Make it a great day and God Bless.

Wish us luck

Snow coming to the mountains sometime today. We’re leaving at 7:30 to get Ty his drivers license in Golden. We’re hoping we make it down and up before any weather rolls in.

Last night Jag and Tommy went to the awards ceremony and I guess it went longer than they expected. Still it was good they went.

We have our flights, hotel, rental car and everything else set for Arizona. We’ll be staying at the Hyatt Regency Gainey Ranch which is a great property close to mom and dad’s old place. I booked a great French restaurant for our anniversary and we’re going out to dinner with Robi and Robert one night too. We can’t wait, we’re super excited for some warm weather and to see Robin and Robert.

Last night a few of us met up for a cigar. As always, we had fun. Good stuff going on at work. A few of our new brands are really taking off across the Country. Lori has a bunch of scheduling today but is coming with me as of right now.

Tomorrow we spring forward meaning we turn the clocks ahead an hour. Things are melting outside, finally. Hope this latest storm misses us. That’s all folks ! Who said that? Hint, he was a cartoon character! Have a great weekend, God Bless.

Uncle CB

Today at 5pm the Jefferson County Sheriffs Department is giving out the Clarence B. Fugate annual award. We’re always invited but have never gone. Well this year, Tom and Jagger are going to represent the family! It starts at 5 and is an awards dinner. Since we’ve never been, I don’t know what else goes on. So more tomorrow.

I was in Denver and out pretty quick. Turned out Ty could not just walk in for an appointment for his drivers license as I finally got through on the phone. So now we have an appointment for tomorrow at 10:45. I made my other stops and headed home arriving around 2.

No weather up here so far. Going to Denver, I hit the cold and fog about Genesee. Other than that, it was sunny. Dixie has a dentist appointment this morning at 10 so we’re off to the gym early. It’s 5:36am now. Lots of wind last night but that was it.

Time to get moving, have a great Thursday and God Bless.

5:33 am

Trying to get on the road by 6:30 so I can take Ty for his drivers license before class. Then I need to get my haircut, meet up with Toby and I have a conference call at noon. Hopefully I can do the later while driving up the hill.

Nice and warm and Spring like up here. Guess it’s a little foggy in Denver. James flew home a day early as they wrapped up shooting his scenes. He arrived sometime last night. I think we have cigar night tomorrow although it’s Addy’s daughters birthday and she wants us to go to dinner. Her birthday is then next Monday and we’re all going out to dinner then.

All else is fine. We’re deciding where to have our sales meeting this year. One of our Partner’s said they’d fly us all to France if we want to, we’ll see. Time to get moving, 47 minutes until I should be on the road, God Bless.

Doing well

Yesterday I decided to run down and up in a flash to see the boys. I made it to Boulder by 9:45 to see Jag for a minute between classes and then to Ty by 11 to drop some food and see him before class. Then I quickly left town and headed for home. When I made it to Vail I stopped to see my buddy James Rush and we sat outside in the sunshine and smoked a cigar. After that, home I went.

Today I have some work around the house and tomorrow I’m off to a couple of accounts down in Denver. Lori is working in Vail today and Frisco tomorrow. We need to get Ty to the DMV to replace his stolen drivers license so he can get on a plane at the end of the month. I’ve been calling and calling the passport office for days and it keeps saying “we can’t take your call right now”. Making an appointment is the only way to get the boys passports renewed quickly. I’ll keep trying today.

Our Colorado dems are just as out of control and misguided as the ones in D.C. Looks like they’re making all kinds of laws that are useless and only push their agenda of more control. I’ll stop now as it won’t do any good. Just vote! And stop voting for people that continue to take away your rights.

Have a great Tuesday, God Bless.

Pretty sky

It’s warming up and Spring is on the way. Our egg lady, Kellie, has started to let the chickens out of the coop and graze during the day in the pasture. That’s another sign of things warming up too. Above is the sky this morning at 6:15.

Lori is working today until around noon. I might run down to Denver today to see the boys, haven’t decided yet. We’re waiting to see if Ty can miss class on Monday March 27th and will then book our tickets and hotel. We’re excited to go get some sun! Then we’ll do a beach trip the last two weeks of May.

That’s about it, time to get moving, have a great week and be part of the change we all need! God Bless.

Hanging with Ms. Dixie

Yesterday after the gym, Costco and some other stuff, we went to visit Dixie and hang out for a while. She’s fine physically which is a miracle. Don’t forget, she has heart failure, kidney failure, ankles and feet the size of an elephant, stomach issues and dementia, but just keeps on ticking. She’ll be 92 in a bit over a month. I call her the energizer bunny after the old battery commercials. For the most part, she’s happy which is good. She does think her parents and siblings are all in Europe on an extended vacation. We started that a few months ago as it was like Groundhog Day having to tell her over and over her parents passed away years ago. She was shocked and saddened every day as she’d wake up thinking she was just with them or had talked to them. So there, she’s fine, jokes with us and watches tv and is stubborn as ever, but happy. Not sure I want to be that way though ever.

It’s a mix of blue sky and grey clouds outside. No snow and I think even though it’s forecasted for the mountains, we’re in the eye of the storm. They say strong winds though today, we’ll see. It was a little windy last night.

Looks like covid was a joke for the most part. Yes in the beginning it killed people and yes, it was man made, no doubt about that, but the big killer was the shot. A new study shows 8 times as many people died in six months from the shot as did die from covid in 18 months! WTF? Everyone I know regrets getting the shot. Even those that were all pro-vaccine a year ago. Woody Harrelson had it right when he said last week on Saturday Night Live that the largest drug cartel in the World made everyone stay in their homes until they took their drugs. Even Bill Maher, the liberal comedian on HBO said all the covid deniers are looking pretty good now. Lesson here, don’t trust anyone, think for yourself. What a mess we’re in. God we need new leadership. Now the administration is trying to get us into a World War. The idiot comedian running Ukraine said yesterday that our sons and daughters are soon going to have to fight and die over there like theirs are! Fuck that, our kids are never going to fight some proxy war over there. What happened to the 8 million men they had? This is all a huge money laundering scam. You’ll see a bunch of new propaganda promoting saving them as public opinion is changing. Guess I had too much coffee this morning.

Lori wants to go to the gym so I guess I’m going to the gym. I could take a break today but what the hell, I’ll do a few miles on the treadmill. Looks like we’re going to Arizona at the end of the month! A close friend for 20 years, Laura, will be there and we have a business deal we’re working on. Jag has Spring Break then too so we’ll get a nice hotel somewhere and hang. Think we’re coming down on the 24th.

Have a great Sunday, read a book, take a walk, call a friend or call us! That’s all folks, God Bless.

In the groove

Lori and Addy had another great day at the range. They’ve come a really long way in a few short hours. I ran up valley and picked up lunch for them while they were training. Later in the day I ran to Costco and the grocery store. After that we settled in and watched a movie before the big showdown between the Nuggets and the Grizzles. The first half was rough as we couldn’t hit a 3 pointer but after 3 quarters we were tied and in the 4th, dominated! It was a great game in true Nuggets fashion where if were not leading from the start, we hang around and then stomp. It’s a fun year for basketball in Denver.

Today, well, you guessed it, we’re headed to the gym and then I’m not sure what’s up. Jag might come up to visit, we’re not sure. No real snow, just a dusting that I can blow off with the leaf blower. Lori had a patient who we’ve known in the valley since we moved here, text from the ER last night as they wanted to do a spinal tap thinking he had meningitis. You don’t want to fool around with that as you could lose a limb or two so she went into instant “I got this” mode. In minutes she had a PA and Dr. B, who was in Miami, calling the patient and doctors in the ER. Not sure of the outcome as I was sucked into the game. I’ll ask her this morning.

Marty is back from Grand Caymen late tonight and James is having a so so time in Calgary. I guess shooting a movie is a lot of sitting around. Cold up there too. He’s not back until next Wednesday. He texts daily updates though.

That’s it, no bozo talk today, I’m taking a break pretending he isn’t President, ha. Enjoy your weekend and God Bless.

Good news

It’s Friday! Seems like a Saturday so guess I’m getting a 3 day weekend, at least in my mind. Yesterday the girls went shooting. It was a big day, pretty traumatic. I’m not going to go into details but in Adriana’s past there was an incident that involved a handgun that would scar any of us. After 12 years, she was ready to face her fears and handled it well. Today the girls are going back for another range session. Need to stay on the horse. By the way, they both did really well, especially Lori.

First up this morning we’re headed back to the gym. It’s like Groundhog Day. Sometimes it’s a challenge to go but it’s pretty much part of our daily routine now. Ty worked the Bruce Springsteen concert last night. Excited to hear how it went. Jag might come up this weekend, we’ll see.

Not much else without diving into how fucked up things are in the Country. Think I’ll spare all of us today as we all pretty much know it. God help us. Have a great 3 day weekend, ha! God Bless.
