The weekend

Finally, it’s the weekend. It sure seemed like a long week. Next week is Lori’s birthday on Wednesday! Her doc is off to Cuba for a week of vacation so it’ll be a bit easier around work. It’s also supposed to warm up around here but this morning we have a dusting of the white stuff.

Both boys are still sleeping and it’s 8:21. I’m sure they’ll be up soon. Even though there’s a little snow it’s melting and we have the sliding door open as it’s not that cold. I have some work to do today and a call at 3:30 but other than that, am going to try to take it somewhat easy.

Round 2 and 3 of the NFL Draft took place last night and we grabbed a couple of good guys. It should be a fun year next year. First up though, for sure, is some house cleaning. We keep saying that as we never quite get to it. There’s always something else like laundry or dishes or errands. We have to do a little deep cleaning today for sure.

No politics today but one thing I have to say is that no matter what you think about Trump, all these protesters are bought and paid for.

How do you non Trump or Hillary supporters like this? Illegals basically wanting to turn America into Mexico. Nice. If it comes down to TRump vs Hillary, we have to go Trump. I’m sure he’ll settle down and surround himself with some great people. We’re not sure of what all he’ll do but we do know what Hillary will do. She’ll continue to shred the constitution, make govt bigger, and take more and more rights away from the people and continue to lie right to our face. The misses and I cannot believe that people would actually vote for someone that has repeatedly lied to us all. I’ll stop now, but the mere fact that it’s coming down to those two people show just how screwed up it is. Check this out from former Senator Tom Coburn.

“You’ve Lost Their Confidence” Tom Coburn Exhorts Congress “America Doesn’t Trust You Anymore”

“America doesn’t trust you anymore. That’s the truth… and that’s not one party, that’s both” raged former Senator Tom Coburn during a hearing before the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs this week. As FreeBeacon reports, Coburn, making his first appearance before the Senate since his farewell speech when he retired in late 2014, pleaded with Congress to take action to reform government, quoting de Tocqueville, that an ever more centralized control reduces its citizenry “to nothing better than a flock of timid and industrious animals, of which the government is the shepherd.”

As FreeBeacon.com’s Elizabeth Harrington reports, Coburn is leading a movement of more than 1 million activists working to hold a Convention of the States, allowed by Article V of the Constitution, to force Congress to balance the budget. He said 10 of 34 states needed have passed resolutions so far.

“I would just tell you a little of my background this last year in 2015 I spent my time in 21 different states,” Coburn told the committee. “And America doesn’t trust you anymore. That’s the truth. Because they don’t see the actions coming out of Congress that should be coming out.”

“And that doesn’t mean that they’re right all the time, but you’ve lost their confidence,” he said. “And that’s not one party, that’s both. And so when you have hundreds of billions of dollars that could be saved and aren’t, and they know it. You know, they actually read your reports. People online, and then they use social media, pass it around.”

“The important thing is to restore the confidence in the country what you’re doing, and why you’re doing it and how you’re doing it,” Coburn said.

“The unfunded liabilities of this country, with its debt, is $142 trillion,” he said. “That’s $1 million per family, or that’s $1 million per taxpayer. Nobody knows what a trillion is but when you’re telling a young family with small kids, ‘Oh, by the way, here’s the debt burden that’s coming to you over the next 25 years, you better be prepared for it.’”

Coburn said “too much government” and “too intrusive a government” is to blame for median family incomes being the same size as in 1988. Throughout Coburn said Congress needs to stop focusing on fixing the symptoms but focus on fixing the disease. He called for a more simple and fairer tax code, which he said could eliminate 90,000 IRS agents, who make 77 percent more than the average American.

He pointed to Alexis de Tocqueville, quoting at length the French political philosopher’s Democracy in America, to explain the current upheaval in American politics and the presidential race.

“Some of you may have read it, some of you may not have, but it tells me where we are today in our country,” Coburn said. “And having been in 21 states the last year, and 15 already this year, and what I’m hearing, I’m hearing what Tocqueville described back in the late 1700s.”

Coburn cited Tocqueville observations that centralized power of “small, complicated rules, minute and uniform” leads to the “will of man … not shattered, but softened, bent, and guided.”

“Such a power does not destroy, but it prevents existence; it does not tyrannize, but it compresses, enervates, extinguishes, and stupefies a people, till each nation is reduced to nothing better than a flock of timid and industrious animals, of which the government is the shepherd,” Coburn said, quoting Tocqueville.

“That to me in my experience, my opinion, is where we are today in our country,” Coburn concluded. “I think that’s why you see the presidential race that we’re seeing.”

A New QB!

Last night after waiting about 2 1/2 hours, we ended up with our new QB of the future. Leave it to John Elway, our former QB and now GM, to work his magic. It was a good pick.

Today Lori might come home early as she’s still under the weather. Speaking of weather, it’s totally dry up here but raining and snowing in the city. Ty is feeling a little better but still is sick. Jag and I will head to the gym this morning before I get on the phone.

We hope to clean up around here this weekend, still lots to do. Guess I’ll run as we slept in and it’s now almost 7am. Go Broncos! and GB.

NFL Draft

Yea, it’s here, the draft. I think it starts at 6pm tonight, whoo hoo! Of course, we pick last in the first round but it’s still fun to watch. Ty still has a cold and now Lori does too, sore throat, fever and all. Hopefully I won’t get it!

They say rain and snow down the hill today but I think/hope we miss it. I was in Denver yesterday for a couple appointments and to get my truck fixed. I had no time to spare (sorry Mom) and was home by about 6pm. Luckily I don’t have to go down for a while. Guess I’ll run, hope you all have a great day and Go Broncos!

Another Day

Yes, it’s Wednesday and Lori and I have more work as usual. Yesterday Jag and I went to the gym while Ty tried to kick his cold. Lori said he has a fever. He needs to take it easy for at least another day. Dr. C comes back from Mexico today and then is off to Cuba next week so there’s a break in surgeries at the office. The NFL Draft is tomorrow. Should be fun. Time to go, have a good day and GB

Big snow on the pass

It was great to see Lorenzo last night along with our friends at dinner. We made it down around 4pm and then left for home about 8:30. All was fine until Vail Pass. This is where we hit a wet slushy snow that was coming down so hard it was like something out of a Star Wars movie. This slowed us down and added 20 minutes or so to our drive. Anyhow we made it home around 10:30 and everyone went straight to bed. Today the boys and I are going shooting down at the range after Jag and I make a trip to the gym. Ty has a cold and hopefully is better today although I just heard him cough.

It’s almost 7 so I’d better get moving. Lori is still sleeping as are the boys. The NFL Draft is in two days. My brother and I really enjoy that so we have that to look forward to. Hope all’s well, take care and God Bless you all.

Dinner in Denver

Sounds like a movie, Dinner in Denver. Anyhow tonight that’s what we’ll have. We’re heading out a bit after noon and then will drive back up tonight as we have no one to stay with Mojo. The boys are on break and will sleep in. Yesterday we cleaned up some more and made another trip to the storage unit. Rain and snow mix on and off for the week and that’s about it. Guess I’ll run as not much else going on today. Have a good week, GB.

To the gym

jagdcAfter my quick trip to Denver, Lori, Jag and I made a trip to Costco. Next up Jag and I headed to the gym for a quick 45 minute workout. He’s at the age where he can start lifting weights and is all into it. Then it turned out to be almost time to get ready to go to dinner. We left at 6 for the 20 minute drive up to Wildridge to our friends Rick and Devons house. We’ve known them for over 10 years and Rick now is high up at the hospital where Lori works. We made it home around 9:30 or so and went to bed to catch up on our sleep.

Here’s a picture of Jag and 3 friends in D.C. I told him they look like a band! He didn’t like that, ha ha.

It rained pretty hard yesterday and is snowing lightly now. I’m sure it’ll turn to rain as it warms up in a few hours. Today we’re cleaning up more around here and going for a hike. One of the benefits of living in the mountains!  We’re headed to Denver for dinner with Lorenzo tomorrow at our friend’s house. There will be 6 of us plus the kids. Not sure what we’re doing with Mojo, guess I need to find a hotel that takes big dogs! Time to run, enjoy the day and get ready for a week of politics as we’re still in the crazy season, God Bless.

The weekend

Today I need to run to Denver and back to drop off a few bottles of wine for Lorenzo and a sales rep to use Monday am for work. I hope to be on the road by 7 and back here before 11. Yesterday I was also in Denver for a couple of doctor appointments and apparently I’m really healthy. Sometimes I don’t feel that way but I guess they know what they’re doing, or at least I hope they do.

The kids are off school for the next week for Spring Break. Tonight we’re going to dinner at some friends which should be nice. First though we need to clean this mess we call home. We need to get a cleaning person as we’ve never had one come in and deep clean this place. Time to run so I can get on the road, hope you all have a great day, GB.

Look at this and then think about who you trust more, hmmmm.

Fine tuning

Yesterday afternoon I had my new teeth tuned a bit as the dentist trimmed them a little here and there. They do this after you see how you feel after living with them for a day or so. In any case, they feel even better today.

Today I have a couple of doctor appointments, a physical and an eye appointment. Hopefully I’ll be able to drive with dilated eyes!

Lori had a good day at work but sure needs a day off. Ty went to school while Jag stayed home with a sore throat. Next week both boys are off with Spring Break. We’re not going anywhere but I’ll try to do something fun with them on a day or two. It’s warming up as it was in the 60’s here yesterday and even warmer this weekend. I think Denver is going to hit 80!

Guess I’ll run, have a great weekend, take care, be safe and God Bless

Nice and white

What a change, my smile that is. I made it to the dentist a bit after 8 as I had to go back after dropping the kids to get some headphones and my Ipod. Thankfully I did as this blocked out the drilling sound and made the time go fast. 4 and 1/2 hours later I was done. I have to say, I look pretty good. Right now I have temporary teeth in while my porcelain veneers are being custom made. I go back this afternoon so they can adjust them. I think the length is a little long on one or two teeth. It’s quite advanced how they do this these days. Lots of pictures, digital scans, an artist (to make the teeth and get the color right) and other hi tech procedures. It’s pretty amazing, anyhow overall, I’m really happy.

Today Lori has a 7am meeting and I’m off to Denver to get the car serviced. Jag has a sore throat, probably from being on a plane. It’s warming up but next week we are supposed to get some days with rain and snow mix before it really starts getting warmer. It’s 5:45 right now so I’d better get moving. Tom and I are hanging out this morning while the car gets serviced. Hope all’s well, GB, and Happy Birthday to Serena, Lori’s sister!
