Sleeping in

It’s 7am now and even though I first woke up around 4:30, We managed to sleep in until about 6:45. Going to be warm today, so they say. Lori works in Vail today. I have security camera and tree guys coming to the house today.

I hope to go through a bunch of stuff around the house today and stock up on some things for winter. This includes everything from more chicken stock and batteries to snow melt. I ordered up snow tires for Lori’s car yesterday and will get them put on probably Monday of next week after I get her car back. We still have leaves on the aspen trees although they are slowly falling to the ground.

Lots going on work wise, haven’t talked much about the changes lately but they’re happening, all for the best. More on that later. Lori just put a chicken in the crockpot for dinner tonight. We’re cooking some tenderloins on the BBQ now so they don’t go bad.

Hope cooler heads prevail in the Middle East but I have my doubts. Looks like things are still escalating with one side wanting revenge and the other wanting to pull in other groups and countries to expand the fight. You can see the division here in our own Country between the people. This is part of one sides plan too. Everything that happens these days is orchestrated with some end game in sight. Don’t think for a minute that things are spontaneous and not pre-planned. It all is. Key here again is to think for yourself.

That’s it, time to move and groove. Make it a great day and God Bless.

Busy

I’m taking Lori’s car to Glenwood at 7:15 and then I have a ton of work. So does Lori at the office. Ty went to the pre-season Nuggets game last night as tickets were only $10. I’ll pick him up Wednesday when I go to Denver. He called from the game and was having a blast.

Nice outside, warm during the day and cool at night. Just perfect. Think it’s going to be cooler later this week.

Tax Day today. What a joke. We work six months out of the year just to give the money away in taxes. The system needs to be fixed, but probably won’t. Democrats want to tax you more and spend even more because what they’re doing now is working so well, (sarcasm).

Time to get moving so I can get out of here and get back on time. Lori will wait for me to get back with the rental car and then head into work. Make it a great day, only about two weeks left until November, wow. God Bless.

Lunch

We were out of here by about 8:30 and in Boulder about 3 hours later. Upon arriving I stopped for gas and then we went to Whole Foods for groceries we can’t get up here, mostly non-perishable. Then we were off to meet Jag and Ava for lunch. We had a nice time hanging out. They were tired, and we were too, from staying up late with the game the night before. After lunch we drove to Jag’s house to unload the dresser that was in the back of the truck. The we said our goodbyes and headed up the hill. Arriving around 4:30, we fed Harley and then went for a walk trying to work off some of the pizza we had for lunch.

It’s 8am now and Ty’s in Denver so we slept in. We’ll head out to the gym as soon as I’m through with the blog. Lori woke me last night as she heard some noise so I had to do a sweep of the house so she could go back to sleep. All was normal. Nice outside and the warmup continues.

We did stop at the Halloween store in Denver West and picked up some costume stuff for our party in 2 weeks. I have to find a few things for me, but I think we have Lori all set up. Lori wants to get the Christmas tree out now! I think it’s a little too early but Jagger asked when she was going to set it up so who knows. Ava is spending next semester in Barcelona so we’ll see how that goes. They seem to have a plan, but Jag obviously isn’t going. Ah to be 21 again. There so cute!

Time to go, have a great Sunday and God Bless.

Not worth it

What a game. It started out well but ended up disappointing. We were up until after midnight and staying up that late was definitely not worth it! It’s 6:40 am now and we are tired. Oh well, it is what it is. I’ll bet Jag and Ava are really tired but I’m sure they’re still sleeping.

Yesterday we bought a new tv at Costco only to get it home and have it not fit our wall mount. So back we went to return it and then buy another one. That second one was $100 more but fit well and it’s up and running in the bedroom and is great. Brian, our neighbor, helped me lift it onto the bracket on the wall.

We stopped for Mexican food on the way home which was good but super salty.

We’ll get ready and get out of here in probably an hour. We need to get on our Halloween costumes asap. We have lunch in Boulder with Ava and Jagger at noon. I also have his dresser in the back of the truck.

Some good news from our accountant! We only owe $5800 to the Feds, instead of $12K and a couple grand more to a few assorted States, primarily Colorado and Arizona. So this means will be paying about half of what we thought, whoo hoo! Prayer does work!

Warming up a bit outside. Should be in the mid 70’s up here Tuesday before a cool down on Wednesday. Hopefully the big snow stays away until mid or late November. It’s going to be an El Nino winter which means pretty good snow, but we’re right on the edge of where they project a warmer winter so again, we’ll pray!

7 am now so time to get moving. Have a great day and God Bless.

Dodged it

Well we missed the snow here at the house. The pass and places like Breckenridge though did get snow. It’s warming up steadily today through early next week when it will be 80 degrees on Tuesday in Denver. That translates to about 70 to 75 degrees up here. We’ll take it.

Tax day is Monday. We thought we were all paid up but no, we owe another $12,000 to the Feds. We’ll probably owe a few thousand to the State too, unbelievable. We’re in the 32% tax bracket according to our accountant. That means 32 cents of every dollar we make, or about one third, goes to the government. Throw in local State tax, sales tax on everything you buy, property tax, gas tax, and a few other assorted hidden ones you don’t even know about, and we’re probably paying about 50 cents off every dollar we bring in. Don’t know how this is sustainable. Of course over half the people in the Country pay nothing. Throw in all the illegals now here, and those of us that actually work, have to pay even more. Marty says we should just stop working. Not as crazy as it sounds.

Last night I went to James and dropped Lori off to hang out with Adriana. We made it home a little after 6:30 and watched the Bronco game until around 9. Same old result as the week before. Hopefully we’ll be better next year. We might not keep our season tickets any longer as at $5000 a year and with us living up here plus with the team being so bad, it might be time to let them go.

Tomorrow we’re headed to Boulder for lunch with the kids. I’ll finally get Jagger’s dresser down to him. Monday Lori’s car goes in to get fixed. Probably another two months before the garage is fixed. 6 am now and Ty’s showering and Lori is still sleeping. Time to make him some breakfast. Have a great day and God Bless.

Great Day!

Today is a great day! I feel like I’ve been given a second chance at everything. Work was taxing as I reassigned one of my Partners into a different role. More to wrap that up today but overall things went well, better than expected. A couple other things happened in our personal lives too but happy to say, everything turned out great! Snow on the pass but none here so far. Ty missed two buses yesterday and ended up on the 7:30 bus that had him arrive in Eagle around 11pm. I just couldn’t stay up and laid my head down around 9:30 and next thing I knew, Lori was coming to bed at 11:15 or so after running down the street and getting Ty from the bus. What a great mom!

The Avalanche won their season opener! Tonight, the Broncos play the Chiefs and tomorrow CU plays Standford and then Saturday we’re headed to Boulder for Parents Weekend. We’re not staying the whole weekend but are taking the kids (Jag and Ava) to a Michelin Star restaurant for lunch. Should be fun.

6:07am now and time to get moving as we leave at 6:30 to take Ty to work. Make it a great day, and please, be thankful for all you have and live every day of your life to the fullest. Be well, stay safe and God Bless.

Here we go

Making some changes today at work. Too detailed to get into or explain but making some changes. I made it down and up in good time yesterday and was home a little after lunch. Today Lori works in Vail, and I’ll be working from home. My first call is at 8:45.

Our tv in the bedroom seems to be unfixable. Rather than call someone to come out to the house, we think we’ll move the one from the living room to the bedroom and run to Costco for a larger one for the living room. Tv’s are way down in price, and we’ve wanted a larger one for the living room anyhow. Everything happens for a reason.

Funny I’m talking about tv’s while people in Israel are worried about getting shot or blown up. Crazy times. I read yesterday that there are two important days in everyone’s life, the day you were born and the day you know why you were born. Pretty profound, think about it. That’ll keep you busy for a while.

6am now and time to squeeze in a quick trip to the gym. Have a great day and may God watch over you and bless you.

Coming soon

Tomorrow the weather changes. Looks like the last day of warm weather up here before Fall kicks in. Might get snow Thursday, we’ll see.

Lori is in Edwards today and I’m running to Denver to get a case of samples I need for work. Hope to be back by 1 at the latest. Last night in the middle of the night, our bedroom tv came on. No channel, just a white screen. Finally I just unplugged it. Not sure what’s going on as it’s sort of a blank screen now with SONY on it but nothing else. I just tried pressing the reset button. Neither remote works either. I did change the batteries to make sure but no luck. Always something.

6:16 now, not much else going on. Guess I’ll hit the shower and get moving. Have a great day, God Bless.

Birthdays!

Today is my good friend Harry’s birthday and it’s also John Lennon’s! Happy Birthday guys!

In a week it’ll be mid-October, then it’s all downhill through the end of the year. Ten weeks has half a dozen birthdays, four major holidays and lots of festivities. Hold on tight.

This morning I think we’ll try to run to the gym before my 9am conference call. Ty’s in Denver as he is every week, Jag has a big test today and Lori and I have lots of work to do.

Israel declared war for the first time since 1973. It seems a World away but it’s closer than you think. The World is a small place these days as we’re all connected. This is not good. These are the kind of things that force people to pick sides and there’s way too much instability out there for this to be good for anyone.

Take stock of things in your life and always be prepared for the worst. Then you’ll never be surprised! Have a great day and week, God Bless.

Great game

Yesterday’s CU game ended with a win. Hopefully today’s Bronco game will be the same. Ty was out with friends until late and is up and off to work now. Chandler is driving him which is good. It’s nice up here with it not being too cold. We sleep with the windows open, and it’s been nice. Also hasn’t froze up here yet. Think that’s coming Thursday.

Lori went all out yesterday decorating for Halloween. We went to the storage unit and found her Halloween boxes. I need to get the last few things out of there as it cost about $500 a month for old antique furniture and some boxes of the kids’ old toys and some paperwork to live there. I’d like to get that done before winter sets in. What a waste of money.

Lori is taking Ty for his physical sometime today. James is playing in Indio CA today and either home late tonight or tomorrow. Knowing him, he’ll have the pilot ready to go and be in the air before people are out of the parking lot. Marty leaves tomorrow for Jacksonville to take his youngest son on a couple of college visits. Then he has a real estate meeting in Tampa next weekend.

Time to get moving. 6:40am now. Have a great Sunday and pray for the people of Israel. They’re at war for the first time in 50 years. Hope it doesn’t escalate into a wider conflict. God Bless.
