Out of time

Well yesterday Ty was home sick with a stomach ache and might need to go to the doctor today. I didn’t make it to Costco, Lori didn’t make it to the ballet (Dr R was called in at 2:30am the night before), one of her PA’s was sick so the other had to come in and bring her little boy to work and I needed to take the car in as I had pulled the door handle off trying to open it when it was frozen the other day. I did get it covered under warranty as otherwise it would have been $230!

Looks like I’m getting out of my day trip to Houston on Monday as it’s going to snow and I can’t chance my plane taking off late. The guy I was having lunch with is double booked anyhow so we decided to have a conference call at noon my time today to handle our business.

Baseball was good but I don’t much care for 7:30 to 9pm practices. Jagger is playing really really well. He looks like a man among boys. The Triple A teams practicing along side us are always watching him. We’re hoping for a good year for him and the team.

Dixie called yesterday to tell me how she 100% agrees with yesterdays post that we’re slowly being infiltrated. She mentioned that it makes sense for anyone who wants to do us harm to attack our infrastructure little by little and she’s spot on. There’s so much behind the scene, manipulative stuff going on in politics, war, and business that nobody ever thinks about as it seems so far fetched and is hard to believe. People can be devious and will do unimaginable things to get what they want. All this terror overseas and these horrific acts are being done with some sort of end game in mind. These guys actually believe that there’s a coming holy war that will lead to the end of days, according to their beliefs, and they believe they need to draw the enemy (us and anyone who’s not a follower of their beliefs) into battle. Hence, they’re doing whatever they can, no matter how horrific, to try to suck us into their war. The difficult thing is our Pres won’t even admit that we’re fighting people that have certain beliefs based on their religion. The past few days at a summit in D.C. they’ve been floating the idea that we need to give these guys jobs! Hell, we can’t even give our citizens jobs!

It’s a different World these days and I’m afraid things are only going to get worse as there’s now a new normal. There are small things you can do and it all starts with a change in your mindset. Time to revisit buying a little extra food, a few extra rolls of toilet paper, keeping your gas tank always at least half full, having a little spare cash on hand at all times, and just having a new sense of always being aware. On top of our international problems, our domestic issues are getting out of hand. It’s not the 50’s anymore and people in general are more desperate than they used to be as the ranks of the “have nots” are growing, and when you’ve lost everything, you then lose hope and will do things you would have normally never ever considered to survive. Enough said, just don’t let yourself become slowly conditioned to the new normal without taking the required precautions and shifting your mindset to deal with what is the new normal. OK? Got it? Good.

Now go have a good day, we’re off to the big black tie gala tonight and God Bless.

The ballet and masquerade

Tonight Lori is going to the Colorado Ballet event Madame’s and Martini’s with Dr. R. Chris asked her to go as she didn’t want to go alone so Lori graciously said yes. Then tomorrow we’re going to some giant black tie masquerade benefit party downtown at the Sheraton with Roseanne Barr. We don’t really want to go to either event but are committed so off we’ll go. We don’t have any clothes for the black tie event so we’ll just wear what we do have and stick out in the crowd. We do have our masks we carried back from Venice Italy a few years ago that we’ll wear. Hope it’s fun. It’s also supposed to be starting to snow tomorrow night as we’re going to get a foot or so on Saturday, super.

Last night I took the boys clothes shopping and $350 later we came home with a bunch of new stuff for each of them. They sure needed it as they grow so fast. Today after school both boys will get haircuts and then at 7:30 tonight we have baseball practice so here we go.

Today I have some long overdue paperwork I have to finish and then I need to get to Costco. On top of that I need to go to the Fed Ex distribution center to ship a package and then next week have 150 cases of wine flying in from Italy. Never a dull moment.

I’ve stayed away from World events and politics but it’s not good out there. Don’t let your guard down as the crazies overseas are trying to infiltrate America. The gov says hundreds if not thousands of suspected terrorists are already here waiting to make their move. In any case, just be careful no matter where you are. There now, that wasn’t so bad was it.

Time to run, God Bless.

Overslept

It’s 6:45 and we’re running around here like some family in a movie that just realized we all woke up late and are going to miss our flight! Not sure how we overslept as Jagger’s alarm goes off at 5:45 and I’m the usually the King of waking up early all the time. Anyhow we’re late!

Yesterday morning it was so cold that I pulled the door handle off our suburban trying to open the frozen door to take the kids to school. That’s it, defective car, time to get a new one! (just kidding)

Lori went to the museum with the kids yesterday and finally made it home from work at 7pm. Ty was hit in the head with a snow/ice ball at school and was in the clinic. Some kids told him they didn’t want him to be friends with another kid as that kid was gay (he’s really not) and an asshole, all in 5th grade, wow! Good for Ty though as he stood up for himself and said that he’ll decide who he’s friends with and who he’s not.

Throw in a bunch of bills and work and that was the day. Time to run, hope all’s well, God Bless.

Back to school

Well at least the kids had a 4 day weekend. They played a lot too while Lori and I pretty much worked. Today they’re back at it but it’ll be a short week. Today Ty has a field trip to the Museum of Natural History and Lori is a chaperone. I have to run up north and visit a few accounts and then get on some paperwork that needs to be done.

It snowed some more last night but only a few inches. We had a good 8 or more inches and I’m sure the roads will be pretty messy today, especially this morning. Not much else going on except in about 10 days it’ll be March! They say March is our snowiest month so probably more of the white stuff to come. Time to go, hope you all are well, God Bless.

Snow and a milestone

The snow is back, in the form of about 3 or 4 inches of heavy wet snow and it’s still coming down. When the snow is wet it seems like much more than it is as it’s so dense. This is the kind of snow where lots of people have heart attacks when shoveling as it’s so heavy. It’ll stop tonight but then return next weekend in the form of a foot or more, so they say.

Yesterday was sort of a milestone. It was our 1500th post. 1500 days doesn’t seem like a big number until you realize that it makes up 4.109 years! If fact if you live to let’s say 80 years old, that’s only 29,200 days. So if you’re let’s say 50 years old and you live until 80, you have 10,950 days to go! If you’re 80 and live to 90, you have 3,650 days, you get the picture, right! Makes you not want to waste a single day, doesn’t it.

Yesterday we left Aspen around 10:30 but stopped at their Ranch in Basalt with Greg and Billie. After a short visit there to check on the 12,000 square foot home, we followed them to their storage units to help them load up a bunch of red carpet for their Oscar Party this coming Sunday. They’ve invited 170 people! Billie said last year they had 140! We in no way would ever want to have a party with that many people, ever.

Anyhow we made it home by a little after 2pm after stopping for some sandwiches in Edwards on the way. We beat most of the ski traffic which was a good thing.

Today the kids are off school and still sleeping. Lori is going to try to get into work but it’s pretty messy out there and as I said, still coming down. Thankfully I’ll be close to home for the day.

That’s about it, a whirlwind weekend. Lots to do this week, take care and God Bless.

Gotta love Aspen

Aspen really is a great town. The trick is knowing it well enough to get beneath the surface of money, glitz and egos. Once you do this, it’s a really great place to visit or live. We pulled into town about 11am and went straight to Greg and Billies. Lori and Billie changed to go up the gondola to the Aspen Mountain Club where they had the fashion show. There were lots of friends that Lori knew who were also going which was a surprise to her.

Meanwhile I gave Jag and Ty an American Express card and they headed into town while Greg and I went to lunch at the Hickory House for some ribs. I asked the boys to go with us but they wanted to head off on their own. Aspen is about the only place I feel ok letting the boys head out on their own.

Greg and I and the boys made it back to their house around the same time and then worked and played until about 4pm when we went to pick up the girls. After we all made it back to the house, we visited until around 6 when we headed out to dinner. Right outside of the restaurant (which is a great account of mine) there was a concert with a band called Cracker, which is a pretty big national act, that came to town to play for Valentines Day. It was neat for the boys to see as they’d never seen a rock concert up close. Anyhow it was a great dinner and we had a good time and then headed back to the house.

This morning we’re heading out early to get home by early afternoon. It was a short but good and productive trip that included a nice drive. Hope everyone had a good day, take care and God Bless.

3 day weekend?

Well our 4 day weekend didn’t get off to a very good start, in fact we’re now hoping for a good 2 day weekend. Lori went to work and made it home by a bit before 4 and I was gone at 8:30 and then worked around here and was also running around town. We’ll see how the rest of the weekend goes but it looks like Monday is at least half way out as it is. So with a little luck, it’ll be a 2 and 1/2 day weekend at most, or as I said, a good 2 day weekend.

This morning we’re off to Aspen. We are supposed to be in town between 11 and noon. Lori is then going to some fashion show from Paris at the top of the mountain and has to be on the gondola by I think 12:30. Our friend Billie committed a while ago so she has to go and is dragging Lori along with her. Meanwhile Greg and I and the boys will hang out until they get back and then we’ll all go to dinner. Sunday we’ll get up and head out pretty early so we make it home by early afternoon and beat the ski traffic. I have some business to discuss with Greg and we haven’t seen them since last summer so we all decided to get together.

We could have gone up today and stayed until Monday but we were just too busy. Time to run so we can hit the road, Happy Valentines Day!!!

Hope everyone has a great day, God Bless.

4 day weekend

The boys have the next four days off and Lori is supposed to too. But alas, she’s going in this morning after all. Now me, I work every single day in some form or another as there’s always some issue that I need to personally handle.

We had baseball practice and Jagger’s school conferences last night. In short, while he’s a great student, praised by all his teachers as a joy to have in class, which we knew, the common theme from all his teachers is that he’s become a leader in the classroom that other students look up to. I’ve been stressing this in baseball trying to get him to set an example for the other kids and be a leader on the team and it apparently is transferring over to school as well. All good stuff.

Meanwhile Ty and Vinny came home from school with their Valentines Day boxes (Mom made a giant Rubix Cube for Ty) full of Valentines from classmates and candy. Ty then went to Vinny’s house until we were done with baseball.

Tomorrow we’re off to Aspen for the night to stay with our friends, do some business and have dinner. It’s be a long drive but not too bad and we’ll come home Sunday.

Hope all’s well, need to run, God Bless.

A roller coaster

Today we’re starting to warmup again but on Monday the snow will return. Looks like we’ll head to the mountains tomorrow and be in Aspen until Sunday morning when we’ll drive home. The kids are off tomorrow and Monday for Presidents Day. Tonight we have conferences at Jag’s school and then baseball practice at 7:30. Ty has his Valentines Day party at school this afternoon.

Yesterday at recess the kids were all playing Ultimate Tag which is some sort of tag when a girl, I think with some issues, went sort of crazy and attacked Ty and another boy by using her fingernails as claws and was hissing and the kids and ended up scratching him in his neck. I received a call when I was down at Lori’s work and headed right to the school. The girl scratched him hard enough so it bled and the nurse washed it with soap and water. I took him out of school and sprayed Bactine on it when we arrived home. When the kids were asked what happened, nobody could explain why the girl went off and began attacking everyone. I think we’ll find out more today as the Principal was busy with another incident at school all afternoon which required the police who were there when I picked up Ty. All of this in elementary school.

Lori has a sales meeting this morning meaning she’s off early and I have a few things that have to get done as well. Time to run, hope you have a good weekend, God Bless.

Looking good

Last night was our first outside baseball practice and the kids looked really good! Jagger, despite having a cast on until two weeks ago, was particularly sharp, in all three phases. He threw well, his fielding was flawless and hit hitting was solid. He said his arm hurt a little bit but I think he’s almost past it. Most of the other kids looked good too. There’s one kid who really struggled last year who we haven’t invited to either of our two practices so far as if we have this one boy back, we’re going to probably cut him from the team. That may sound heartless but we’re now at the age where we owe it to everyone to put the best product out there that we can. Still it’s too bad as it won’t be fun to be that kid and being told the team doesn’t want you. Oh well, that’s life, unless you follow the dummycrats and  Obummer’s philosophy where everyone gets a trophy. (sorry to any dems out there but giving every kid a trophy, which they advocate in school, just sets kids up for greater disappointment later in life when reality hits)

Last night it snowed a bit but just enough to be a nuisance. It’s just wet and sloppy outside.  Not sure what we’re doing this weekend. We’re supposed to go to Aspen but might change our plans, we’ll see.

That’s about it, I’ve run out of things to say, hope everyone is well, take care and God Bless.
