Off to Vail

I check in at 8:30 and hopefully will be out around 10 or so after 45 minutes of surgery for a chrondoplasty which is where the smooth off cartilige on my right knee. We need to drop the kids at 7 at school and head up the hill. I can’t have food or drink although I’m calling to see if I can have coffee in a few minutes. Not a good week for the misses to do everything as she’s super busy at work and I have therapy Wednesday and Friday. I think Uncle T will take me on Friday as the misses is not around.

Here’s a comment,

Annette says:

Thanks again for the flowers. Jean and I went to see Mud at the movies. Really good movie but the kids wouldn’t like it.

Time to run but what a pickle old Obama is in, let’s see, first there’s Benghazi where he had the nerve to go back on tv yesterday and basically lie to our faces as there’s now proof that what he’s saying isn’t true. What is he thinking? Even Tom Brokaw says the White House has lost all credibility on this. Next up the I R S has been illegally targeting conservative groups for years, this is one of the things that got Nixon impeached. First they said it was low level staffers in Ohio but now we find out it goes all the way up to Washington D C, (surprise surprise) and last the Justice Dept admitted illegally stealing phone records from the Associated Press! Now no matter how much you support this administration, the jig is up! Some people will ignore all this but if they do, sorry to say but they’re just blind. Imagine if Bush did this, wow.

So there you have it, bet you’re glad I wrote today. Take care and God Bless and we hope to be home by 1 or so.

12 Days of School

L1030525L1030526Ah…the countdown begins.  The kiddos have only twelve days of school left in the year, and I don’t have a plan for their vacation yet.  I believe the school offers a summer reading program and I always get the “Bridge Books”…workbooks so the kids don’t feel the impact of what is called the “Summer Slide.”  The Summer Slide is what happens when the kids don’t practice what they learned during the school year over the sumer…they “Slide” backward and have to relearn things at the start of the year.  I have them do the workbooks just to keep some structure in an otherwise free and lazy summer.

Yesterday was a nice Mother’s Day.  The oldest and the Mr. went to the neighborhood nursery  and bought Grandma two more geraniums…this time they were Giant.  I’ll take pictures and post them tomorrow.

The youngest brought me breakfast in bed.  My delicious breakfast consisted of, Gorilla Munch cereal, four organic oreo  cookies, four tortilla chips(the chips and cookies were staggered to make a lovely pattern) and a non-alcohol ginger beer. Yum?

The youngest and I took a short walk together while the Mr. and oldest were off running errands.

We all went up to Evergreen for Mother’s Day Brunch.  Uncle T., Auntie B., Gandma and the four of us.  We had a nice time visiting and eating too much.

After that we ran home, changed clothes and went to Grandma’s  to plant 13 gallon size geraniums and the two giants.  The planting went very fast with the help of my three men and her yard looks amazing!

After planting we stopped by the nursery one more time to pick up a couple of blueberry plants and three small geraniums for our house.  I planted in the front yard and the boys shot their bows and arrows in the backyard.  I still need to find new pots for my front porch that are tall and black…not so easy to find.

We had a nice mothers day and the countdown to summer begins, God Bless

Happy Mother Day

Happy Mothers Day to all the mothers out there, we have quite a bunch. Grandma Lois, Grandma Dixie, Grandma Annette, Grandma Eleanor, Aunt Robi, Aunt Ali (to all dogs everywhere) and the misses. Hope you all have a great day.

Here’s a comment from Aunt Ali,

Blondie says:

Congrats to the Young Man! I have always known he was something special:) Sorry I couldn’t have been there….you need to talk to the school about doing these things later for the people who work! Also, have you thought about feeding the dogs dinner at 6pm and then breakfast at 6am? Maybe they are so used to dinner at 4pm that they have a 12 hour clock ….just a thought! The only other thing I can think of is one of those dog feeders that are on a timer! Good luck:)

Yes he is special as is his younger brother, we’re really lucky and blessed to have such great kids.

Today after some planting, we’re going to lunch or brunch at the restaurant we went to with Kristin a week or so ago when she was in town for the misses birthday.

Yesterday we picked up a bunch of geraninums for our yard and Grandmas. After that and a trip to the grocery store, we had friends over for dinner. It was warmer yesterday with a few afternoon showers but is supposed to be in the 80’s all week. Of course we will have those afternoon springtime showers mixed in all week.

There’s 12 days of school left, hard to believe it’s already over. Not much else going on, the misses will be back tomorrow but I thought I’d give her a break today for Mom’s day.

One bit of good news before I go (and just to bring back politics a little), it seems 4 or 5 democrats are going to soon lose their jobs for pushing through overreaching gun control in our great state. There are recalls underway that have majority backing. Finally some common sense.  It seems no one paid much attention to little local house races in the past but now, they have awakened a sleeping giant. This is a blow to the democrats here and well deserved. Hopefully our Governor and a few others will lose their jobs as well in 2014! Maybe we won’t have to move to Wyoming after all.

God Bless

Master Of Ceremonies

Our young man was an amazing MC!  He was funny, poised and absolutely adorable.    I took a video, so I’ll try to post some clips.  Even during the few technical glitches, he ad-libbed and covered making everyone laugh. Everyone came up to him after the show telling him how wonderful he was. Grandma came with us and enjoyed the show. Our guy looked so grown up, like he was going to prom or something, it was one of those life changing moments for us and him. We wouldn’t be surprised if he’s elected student council president, is in some movie, or something, you’ll have to see the video!

Right after that we rushed home to change clothes and head to his baseball game. The youngest brought along his friend Nick so he was assured of a playmate. The game was tough for the first few innings as we were down 11 to 0 but then our bats came alive! In the end we lost 14 to 15 when our coach sent a guy on a steal and he was called out. Our guy had a good hit and was hit in the left arm again! Oh well, you win some and you lose some.

One of the players Mom’s and I left early to hold tables for the boys at a great pizza place. We took the little kids with us and the Mr. and the oldest along with his teammate and his dad (who is a coach) joined us when the game was over. There were about 15 of us in all and we had a good time. By the time we arrived home it was 10pm! We quickly rushed off to bed to try to get some sleep.

This morning the Mr went to the gym after Lacey woke us up at 4:40am! I finally got up and fed Mojo but put Lacey in the crate and didn’t feed her for at least 30 minutes after she stopped barking. In any case, our morning was ruined. I feel like a truck hit me I’m so tired. The youngest came down around 7am but our MC is still sleeping at 8:32 which it is now.

I think were getting geranimums today for my Mothers Day present. I set aside 2 large red ones a week or so ago at the nursery. Hopefully it won’t freeze anymore here. It’s supposed to be in the 80’s Monday.

I need to shut my eyes and get some rest. Best wishes to Grandpa Don who is in the hospital for some complication from his leg injury. Hope he gets out soon! We’re all saying prayers for you.

Have a great day, God Bless.

The talent show

Last night was the oldest guys musical performance at school. He was dressed up and he looked and acted like a man among boys. The kids behind him were screwing around the entire show while our guy was attentive and respectful of everyone performing.

Meanwhile the youngest decided to change his name to in his words, Butt Saggington! When questioned why he was changing his name, he said “don’t question the all and mighty Butt Saggington”. He says it’s awesome!  It seems he found this name on some video and thinks it’s really funny, which it really is. The Mr and I can’t stop laughing, Butt Saggington. We just hope that that doesn’t make us Mr and Mrs Saggington.

Today at 3pm is the school talent show where our guy is the Master of Ceremonies. We’re all excited to see his performance. We’re told he’s really good as he hasn’t let us watch any of the practices. After that we have a baseball game at 5:30 and then the team is going out for pizza afterwards. We’re hoping it doesn’t rain as it’s pretty wet outside right now.

I have an acupuncture appointment at 8am so the Mr will have to take the kiddos to school. He then has to go to the distributor and pick up some wine before he has knee surgery next week.

Time to get breakfast and make lunch for the gang. Have a great day.

Busy Busy

Here are comments from yesterday. The first one is particularly interesting, as it shows how clueless people really are.

Doug says:

  1. Great job on the blog honey, here’s a fun fact for all the people missing politics!

Americans Convinced Gun Homicides Soar Despite Actual Plunge In Gun Crimes
    05/07/2013 – 20:14

In yet another example of the massive gap between the American people’s perception of what is going on around them (whether by propaganda channels or simply cognitive bias) and the actual reality, Reuters reports that while gun-related homicides are down 39% from the 1993 peak, only 12% of people believe that gun crimes have fallen. Non-fatal firearm crimes declined by 69% to 467,300 in the same period but 56% of Americans believe that gun crime is higher now than it was 20 years ago, the Pew Research Center said its poll showed. The dichotomy between record food stamp usage (and non-employment) and multi-year highs in consumer sentiment comes to mind – we wonder which is more ‘real’.

  2. Annette says:

Good one Mr. He will wear the same size as his dad and you can save money on shoes (yah right).

Yesterday the Bocelli Sangiovese was featured on The Today Show with Kathie Lee and Hoda. This is quite the big deal for the Mr. as they say 4.3 million people watched the segment. Let’s hope it turns into more sales! Those girls sure are funny, drinking wine all day and telling jokes.

The oldest had dress rehearsal for the talent show for 2 hours after school. The Mr. had picked up his suit, so he could wear the jacket.  He wanted to wear the entire ensemble, but I didn’t want to wash and iron the shirt.  He is really excited about the Talent show. So are we. None of us has seen a rehearsal yet.

Tonight is the oldest’s 5th and 6th grade musical performance(totally different from band and orchestra…which is the 17th). The kids will perform for the entire student body at 2:00p.m. and 7:00p.m. for the parents, grand parents, aunts and uncles.

The oldest will miss baseball practice tonight due to his conflicting schedule.  He has a game tomorrow night and most of the team is going out for pizza afterward.

Mr. Collins, the school Principal has challenged the third grade to a “Mad Minute” multiplication contest.  He will bring Subway to the winner.  The kids are really excited…what a fun way to ramp up the kiddos for math.

The youngest is in the basement playing cool math games on his dad’s computer.  The Mr. had to go downstairs to do a little work, so the youngest jumped on the drums and said, “Daddy, tell me a joke.” The Mr. told the youngest a joke and the youngest hit the drums….da dun dun, ting.  He cracks me up.

I’m off to prepare for my staff meeting.

Have a great day and God Bless

Darn Dog

Good morning.  Yesterday is a bit of a blur.  After the Mr. left in the morning the kids and I got ready for the day.  We were out the door by 8:00a.m and after I dropped the kiddos off at school I met my friend at Red Rocks for a walk.

Lacey decided to take herself for a little exercise as well.  I was getting in the car to go to my acupuncture appointment when I noticed a yellow lab down the street.  I got out and called her name…gave a quick whistle and she  turned…looked at me, and ran.  Yes, she ran between two houses.  I drove down the street where my sweet old dog had disappeared just in time to see her squeeze through a fence.  She has a friend, Roxy the red dog that lives down the street that she apparently decided to visit.

Auntie B. was in her yard and heard me whistling and calling for Lacey.  Auntie B. came to the fence to witness my dog’s ability at selective listening.  She wouldn’t come for the words, “Treat, “Leash”, or “Car Ride.” Auntie B. was going to take her four legged friend for a walk, so she graciously told me to go to my appointment and she would get Lacey.  I was halfway to my appointment when she called to reassure me that Lacey was okay and playing in her yard with Bodie(sp).  Needless to say, Lacey had a fun day.Thank you again, Auntie B.

The youngest went to a friend’s to play after school and the oldest had Talent show practice.  I picked up the oldest, grabbed the youngest from his friend’s home and made a quick stop at home, so the oldest could change into his baseball uniform.  We were out the door in 12 minutes and off to the game.

The game was okay.  The Coach let a couple of the back up pitchers start and combined they walked in 6 or 7 runs.  Our team rallied to tie it up at 12 to 12 when the catcher over threw the third baseman and the other team scored their 13th run to win the game.  Oh well…at least our coach lets all the kids have a chance.

We have to make a Costco run and find an inexpensive pair of dress shoes of the oldest….size 9 1/2 or 10 mens…I wonder what size he’ll wear when he is 17?

Well, that’s it for today….

God Bless

Off to Seattle

The Mr is off to Seattle this morning returning tonight around 10:30 and needs to take this computer with him so todays post will be short.

I have acupuncture today (hope it helps) and then the oldest has a baseball game tonight that we’ll go to. Yesterday after school we went to Nordstroms to get the oldest his outfit for the talent show this Friday. He looks so grown up in his sport coat and pants. I’ll post pictures later this week when we pick up his clothes after being altered. The coat was fine but we needed to let the pants out.

I need to start on lunches and breakfast so have a nice day.

Back To Reality

Good morning.  The party’s over….we went to Grandma’s and met up with Uncle Tommy and Auntie B for birthday presents.  Of course I received lovely gifts.  I wanted wooden place mats from MacKenzie-Childs(they look like checker boards)Lois surprised me with a really fun outdoor garden bowl complete with a frog that hangs off the side and  Aunt Robi sent a super cute dress. Thank you everyone…and thank you for the gifts inside my birthday cards.

Today, it is back to reality.  The Mr has a conference call.  I have website and Plastic Surgery Practice research to do.  I need to find out if we are missing out on anything important.  I also need to put the skin care re-launch into a plan on paper….seems a bit daunting at this point, but with the help of my “Super-man” it will go more smoothly.

My event for the surgery office is fast approaching, May 16th is just around the corner and I have many details to finalize.

The Mr. is off to Seattle tomorrow for an all day meeting and I’ll be taking the oldest to his baseball game.  We also have to find a suit long enough and slim enough for our young man to wear for the Talent Show….Friday night….the MC must be appropriated attired!

We sent the boys up to bed at 6:33 last night, as the weekend festivities had pretty much wiped them and us out.  They were so quiet that the Mr. went up to check to see if they were watching a movie(We said, no T.V.).  The youngest was fast asleep in his sleeping bag on the air mattress, and the oldest was close to follow. The oldest slept for 11 1/2 hours and the youngest had a solid 12 1/2. Nice!

Here is a reply from Gram Annette:

Annette says:

I’m glad you had such a wonderful day. I think Auntie Serena had fun texting with Jagger and may be making musical suggestions for his ipod.

Have a great day and God Bless

And The Party Continues

Wow! I had such a special day!  Auntie K(Kristin) and I left for the Spa at 8:30.  Woodhouse is on the Historic Homes of Denver list.  The home has 17 foot ceilings, 8inch baseboards, crown molding and gorgeous hardwoods throughout. woodhouse-spa2 Kristin  and I were greeted in the parlor and escorted to the changing room and instructed to make our way to the relaxation room before our services began.  We both started off with Anti-aging facials(every face should have one)when we were finished with that treatment we went downstairs for manicures and pedicures.

We talked non-stop about all the fun we had as kids….climbing up to the roof of Woodlake School (our elementary school)on weekends and running all around.  We would end up over the top of the Kindergarten playground and jump of the roof into the sandbox(my idea).  It was a 4ft x 6ft sandbox and the drop was about 15ft.  Kristin said she was always thinking, “This is a bad idea!”, but she would jump right after me anyway.  We spent our afternoons in the tops of the Mulberry trees in my front yard and then climb on to my roof.   We would scale our way up the shake shingle to the very top and then I would race walk…sometimes run from one end to the other…Kristin took a bit more slowly and cautiously, always thinking this may not be the best idea, but okay.  I’m sure my Dad was not thrilled that we were trampling across the shingles.  We did play on the ground once in a while, but usually in the tops of trees.

The Mr. had arranged for special treats throughout our spa day…plus much, much more!  He is the best hubby, so thoughtful and genuine…he even brought home new jeans for Kristin and me to try on when we got home from the spa.

While our morning and afternoon was spent at the Spa the youngest was…at a playdate and the oldest a baseball game. The oldest made it on base 3 times, scored 3 times and got hit in the arm with a ball 1 time.  The ball had so much velocity that on the bump and bruise you can actually see the stitching from the baseball on the welt. Poor dude.

The oldest used the iPad to instant message Auntie Serena.  They had quite the conversation…the texting continued throughout the afternoon and evening. The oldest even sent pictures of my birthday card and himself in a very sophisticated pose.

We had dinner at a new place in Evergreen, The Hideaway.  Our friend Rollie made the reservations and the food was fantastic!  The kids were great…texting us, Kristin, Rollie and I along with Auntie Serena most of the night.  The oldest took a picture of himself in his dad’s sport coat and once again asked Auntie Serena, Do I look sophisticated now?”  Uncle Matt said he needed to get it fitted.  Funny.

Anyway we got home around 10p.m. the kids were still texting Auntie Serena…they used up 50% of my data last night…to funny…Kristin and I stayed up talking and watching SNL(She had a commercial that aired)I actually fell asleep on the couch.  I woke up at 12:23 and headed to bed.

It was a really wonderful day, and today we get to have family over and cake. Yummy!

Thank you all for the gifts, cards and birthday wishes.  I had a very special day.

God Bless
