Moved

Yesterday we moved most all of the big furniture from Jag’s place to his new place. The new place is a nice little apartment in a complex of about 10 or 20 buildings. It’s an older place with lots of grass courtyards and individual entrances for each unit. There seems to be a mix of family’s, students, and other people in the place. The A/C works really well too which wasn’t the case at the other place. Plus it doesn’t smell! The old building had this stench to it in the hallways that was not good. It’s a bit farther from school, maybe a 1/4 to 1/3 of a mile but will be a much better place for him. We made it home around 3pm.

The nights are perfect up here. We sleep with the window open which lets in the perfect amount of cool air. Looks nice outside now. Ty went to his buddies and will be home this morning. Lori has something like 27 surgeries to schedule so she’ll be busy most of the day. Her and the team are going to Matsu tonight with Dr. B for dinner.

Time for me to get moving. I’m off to the gym for a 7am workout. This week I’m in Aspen Thursday and Denver Friday. Might try to get down to the farm also. Make it a great week, GB.

Moving day

5:20am, one cup of coffee down, time to get moving. Jag went down to Boulder last night to start packing and Lori, Ty and I will leave in 45 minutes or so. We don’t have a lot to move, but there are a few large things we need the truck for. We have his bed, desk, futon, tv stand and tv to move. The rest is stuff like clothes, kitchen stuff, and other personal items. I set up the power two days ago and Comcast yesterday. Hopefully we’ll be there before 9 and done by noon.

Yesterday we went to the gym of course. When we walked in, one of Brent’s little bulldogs ran across the room as he usually does, but this time bit me on my shin! WTF? Not that big of a deal, but again, WTF? After working out we picked up a box of veggies from the restaurant that brought them back from the farm for me so we could take pictures of them. Then we headed home.

James texted from Newark around noon on the way home from Portugal. Around 6 or 7 last night he texted again saying the flight from Denver to Eagle was cancelled and he had to get a driver, ugh. 20 hours of travel and they cancel the last 20 minute flight.

Ty hung out at home last night. It’ll be good to have his help today as we moved in by ourselves. Jag’s roommate left the place a mess. I mean really a mess! After we’re out I’m texting pictures to her mom as Jag already cleaned it once. It’s beyond describable.

It’ll be good for him to live alone. Time to go, be well, stay safe and God Bless.

New Apartment!

Yesterday we finalized the lease on Jagger’s new place. It’s nice with its own entrance and close to school. He doesn’t have underground parking but other than that. it’s a great place. Glad to have that off my plate.

We were going to Aspen this weekend but Ty didn’t find out he was off until after noon yesterday. Not sure what we’ll do today but first we’re headed to work out and then are picking up a box of veggies to take pictures of so we can start taking orders next week.

Not long until school starts. I need to get a handle on what Ty needs to take to Gunnison. He went golfing yesterday and then to the new Thor movie.

Yesterday both Biden and Kamala once again made fools of themselves. Honestly, you can’t make this stuff up. First up, Biden was at an event reading off of the teleprompter which all Presidents do, but at the end of the sentence, he read, “end of quote”! Then, not realizing what he had done or missing a beat, at the beginning of the next sentence he read, “repeat the line”! Next he went on to talk about a girl who had to cross State lines for an abortion and said “in order to end her presidency”. This went on for 5 minutes with gaff after gaff. The internet eviscerated him comparing him to Will Farrell in the movie, Anchorman, Ron Burgundy! Then Kamala, and I have to cut and paste the quote as it makes no sense at all, when talking about Roe v Wade said,

“I think that, to be very honest with you, I do believe that we should have rightly believed, but we certainly believe that certain issues are just settled. Certain issues are just settled,”

Better yet, the day before when talking about the shooting in Illinois, she said,

“We’ve got to take this stuff seriously, as seriously as you are because you have been forced to take this seriously,”

Good God! Can no one in the administration speak basic English? Neither of them can form a basic coherent sentence. Whoever controls the teleprompter is running the Country and it’s certainly not Biden, or as I said yesterday, Bozo. God help us.

Strange times. A week ago a Biden advisor said “we all have to endure high gas prices to maintain the New Liberal World Order”! WTF? Every campaign ad should be running that quote as most all Americans didn’t sign up for a New Liberal World Order! I’m shocked the guy even said it out loud. Then we have Biden’s coke head, womanizing, crook of a son but I’ll save him for another day as in the next couple days he’s going to get a slap on the wrist from a Grand Jury in Delaware for crimes any other person would go to jail to for life. Stay tuned!

For now, make it a great day and look at the upside, if you like Saturday Night Live, all you need to do is turn on the news and watch Biden or Harris! God Bless.

Bozo

Remember Bozo the Clown? What a show. I’m sure it would somehow be deemed inappropriate today for something. In fact, most of the shows we enjoyed as kids from Leave it to Beaver and McHale’s Navy would be cancelled. Some people call Biden Bozo these days, but I say that’s unfair to Bozo! My how society has changed. To be clear, the World hasn’t changed, just some of the people who live on it. Most of the World’s population, well over 95% they say, hasn’t changed, it’s just the vocal minority that seems to be driving the things most of us don’t agree with. Yesterday the Teachers Union officially changed the word “mother” to “birthing parent”. Excuse my language but what the fuck? Thankfully there was immediate backlash. These changes to appease the few are like if you went to another Country that didn’t speak English and demanded the entire Country change their language to accommodate you! Makes no sense does it. What a time we live in.

Back to us. Ty went camping, Jag is sleeping, Lori is working, and I just took the trash out. It’s going to be hot in Denver, close to 100 if not higher. Should be 90 or so up here. It’s cool at night, in the high 40’s, which makes it great for sleeping with the window open. I have another photography class today with my black and white Leica camera. I love black and white photos and am learning a lot. I started my closet and will finish it today and get on the basement. Time to get moving. I went to the gym twice yesterday but will only go once today. Lori’s dressed and ready to go, so I’d better get moving, God Bless.

Good food

Made it to the farm by 9 and left about 45 minutes later. Had a few boxes of veggies and canned cherry jam in the car. Had to get back early to make sure I didn’t get caught on the other side of the canyon in case the afternoon thunderstorms moved in.

Ty worked late as someone didn’t show up for their shift and Jag was home a little after 5. Lori was home a bit before 7. Today Lori and I are off to the gym at 6:30 and then I have a breakfast meeting at 8:15 and H&H.

Then I’m tackling the basement and my closet. I’ve been putting it off for weeks and am determined to get after it today. Guess I’ll get going. Looks like we found an apartment for Jag for the year. Good news is we have a 10 month lease instead of 12 which saves us about $4500! I get why they all want 12 month leases but the place just sits empty for a couple months. Won’t be long until both boys are at school. In about 5 weeks Lori and I will be empty nesters, ha. She’ll probably rescue a puppy.

Last today is Ali’s birthday. Hard to believe it’s getting close to a year since she’s been gone. RIP sweet sister-in-law. God Bless.

To the farm

Today I’m headed west. In 45 minutes, I’m off to Grand Junction to the farm to pick up some boxes of vegetables. Yesterday I was in Denver by 8:30 and out by 9:15. I hit the gym twice and did some shopping on the way home. We’ve had good rain on and off for the past few days. I actually like it.

We’re all working again today, and Jag has his second day of new classes. We’re waiting to see if Ty can get Saturday off and if so, we’ll rent a condo in Snowmass for a couple nights for fun.

Trying to stay away from politics as the people in office make little to no sense on just about everything. The problem with government is that they think more government is the answer to everything! Nothing could be further from the truth. I’ll leave it at that for today.

Enjoy, live life and God Bless.

Just like old times

Yesterday we headed out to Aspen around 8am. We arrived around 10 and the town was packed. When the kids were young, maybe 4 and 6, we took them to their first July 4th Parade in Aspen. Now with them 18 and 20 we pretty much came full circle. Not much changed, a bunch of Harley’s leading it off followed by fancy cars from Ford GT’s to Ferrari’s and Porsches and then the Pitkin County Sheriff Dept. cars with sirens blaring followed by cowboys on horses and then the floats. All threw candy out for the little kids lining the streets. We’ve been to more than a dozen parades, but I can’t ever remember so many people at one.

We stopped in at Ralph Lauren to see some friends and exchange a shirt and then hit Clark’s Seafood Bar for lunch at 11:30. Next up after a little walking around town and shopping was Jing to see some more friends and of course the boys had some more food. After that we went to Billie and Greg’s, our longtime friends from Aspen who have literally known the boys since they were 4 and 6! We hung out at their house for a couple hours before heading home. It was a great family day.

Today everyone works and I’m running down to Denver to the bank. I should be back by 11am. Lots going on and it’s 6:07 so time to get moving. Six months left in the year, 60 days until Labor Day then a bit less to Halloween and even less to Christmas, here we go, hold onto your hats! God Bless.

Happy 4th

Independence Day, what a great day for our Country. Hard to believe some want to protest and cancel one of the greatest days of our nation’s history. That’s all the time I’ll give to those people today.

Those of us that are older, remember well learning about July 4th, 1776 and the Revolution. Some of my earliest memories of school was learning about patriots like Paul Revere and George Washington and our fight for independence from the British. Not sure if they teach that in school anymore. If they don’t, that’s part of the problem. There’s an old saying, freedom isn’t free! Happy Birthday America! I’m sure glad I was born here and there’s nowhere else I’d rather be.

Yesterday was a blur. It started out with Dixie packed and ready to go around 7 am and the rest of the day was just an extension of that. We were down there at least 4 times. When I say we, I mean Lori, I was there maybe twice. It wasn’t a good day and it wrapped up with Dix calling at 11:47 pm last night wondering where she was and why some girls left her there. Hope today is a better day. She’s losing weight too. Seems to be declining a bit more than usual.

Think we’re headed to Aspen at 8 this morning. The parade starts at 11 and if we go, we’ll grab lunch and visit some friends. Ty was camping last night and rolled in a little before 6am. Jag went to the gym around 6 last night and stayed home after his workout.

That’s it, Happy 4th of July! Friends, Family and Freedom! Celebrate the day! God Bless!

Packed and ready to go!

Happy Sunday. First, we’re not going anywhere, but we did just get a call that Dixie has packed all her things and is waiting for her Mama to pick her up! So, she’s packed and ready to go! Guess Crystal, one of the caretakers, found her out in the hall heading for the exits, ha.

Crystal called Lori so we’re headed out to Castle Peak where Dix lives. It’s upsetting my morning routine a bit, but what are you going to do. Tom knows the drill. So, short blog today.

Ty worked yesterday and picked up his first check, $1365! He was a little upset when he saw $9.63 an hour but when we did the math it turned out to be $23 and change per hour with his share of the tips. Pretty darn good for making latte’s. Both boys were out with friends, strolling in between 12 and 1 this morning. Lori and I watched a new series called the Terminal List on Amazon Prime. I had just read the book although a lot in the movie was different. Earlier Lori and Jag went for a short hike halfway between Minturn and Leadville. The rain and thunder shortened their hike but they had fun.

Tonight, weather permitting, we might go to Avon to watch the fireworks. We’re supposed to get a bunch of rain so we’ll see. Yesterday James called from France, they had a show the night before and have 3 more to go. One of the guys, (can’t say who) had the vid but I guess played two shows not knowing he had it. Wasn’t James. The guy with vid is flying separate and stuff to each show. James is at some small cool town on the French coast that he said is nice. It’s a good tour but he’ll be glad to get home. We’re planning a bbq for when he’s home on the 10th or 11th.

That’s it, Dixie is still out in the hall so time to go get her back to her room. Enjoy the day, God Bless.

The Weekend

Glad to live in the mountains. Heard the city is hot and crowded from my buddy who made it up to his condo in Breckenridge last night. We feel blessed to live where we live.

Ty’s working today and Lori and I are headed to the gym in an hour or so as she has a workout with Rod, the owner of our gym who is super hard to get a training session with. Jag was top of his class on his final yesterday. He went to the gym after class. Ty’s headed out now, thank God he’s only 5 minutes from work. Let’s him sleep in.

Lori wants to get a hotel room at the Westin tomorrow to watch the fireworks in Avon. Not sure we’ll see them from there. We might just go down to Nottingham Park with the rest of the entire valley.

We made it through the week. I managed to close the Quarter strong as that’s what I do. We have tons of balls in the air right now, all good. Looks like the back half of the year might be pretty prosperous if all goes right.

That’s it, time to move and groove. Enjoy the weekend. Block out the noise from those that want to sew hate and division. Be thankful you’re an American and be kind to all those around you. You make a difference! God Bless.
