Yesterday we headed out to Aspen around 8am. We arrived around 10 and the town was packed. When the kids were young, maybe 4 and 6, we took them to their first July 4th Parade in Aspen. Now with them 18 and 20 we pretty much came full circle. Not much changed, a bunch of Harley’s leading it off followed by fancy cars from Ford GT’s to Ferrari’s and Porsches and then the Pitkin County Sheriff Dept. cars with sirens blaring followed by cowboys on horses and then the floats. All threw candy out for the little kids lining the streets. We’ve been to more than a dozen parades, but I can’t ever remember so many people at one.
We stopped in at Ralph Lauren to see some friends and exchange a shirt and then hit Clark’s Seafood Bar for lunch at 11:30. Next up after a little walking around town and shopping was Jing to see some more friends and of course the boys had some more food. After that we went to Billie and Greg’s, our longtime friends from Aspen who have literally known the boys since they were 4 and 6! We hung out at their house for a couple hours before heading home. It was a great family day.
Today everyone works and I’m running down to Denver to the bank. I should be back by 11am. Lots going on and it’s 6:07 so time to get moving. Six months left in the year, 60 days until Labor Day then a bit less to Halloween and even less to Christmas, here we go, hold onto your hats! God Bless.
