Did you say a prayer for your football team?

I did! The Bronco’s won but it was closer than it should have been, although they say Indianapolis will probably be in the AFC Championship game with us. Andrew Luck (Indy’s qb) is also my fantasy football quarterback so he’s a good one. In the end though, a win is a win, 31-24 Denver! By the way, our cornerback who had two interceptions when interviewed after the game, first said, “I got to thank God” and then the last thing he said when the interview came to a close was “God Bless you” to the NBC reporter. Guess he understands the importance of the day!

Earlier in the day jag and I went to the grocery store and then he had a baseball game and played well. He might turn into a pretty darn good pitcher if we get him some instruction. A coach who was helping out on our team (as his kids playing fall ball with us) said after warming up with Jagger, that he has a chance to play not only high school, but college ball, and then who knows. Jag doesn’t much care though, he just wants to hit.

Bob fell last night at 3am going to the bathroom and I guess cut up his arm a bit and hurt his leg. He also lost his hearing aid which they eventually found. Lori will be going back out in a couple of weeks and Dixie of course, who’s Mother Teresa reincarnated, has been helping out a lot.

Lori has been working relentlessly on decorations for the school dance and also found time to make a couple of gallons of homemade salsa to freeze with our fresh Colorado tomato’s and cooked up some great meatloaf, mashed potato’s and gravy for dinner. She says she’s not ready for another work week yet but we’re both back at it today.

Ty helped Mom around the house and then both boys roasted hot dogs over the fire we made in the front yard after the baseball game. That was about it, we all spelt in to 7:30 which is some kind of record. Hope everyone has a great week, take care and yes, God Bless.

Sunday, a day to rest, or…..

Sunday is the day of the week following Saturday but before Monday. For Christians, Sunday is observed as a day of worship of God and to rest, due to the belief that it is the Lord’s Day, the day of Christ’s resurrection. In some Muslim countries, Sunday is a normal working day whereas Friday is the day of rest, when Muslims go to jummah prayer. According to the Hebrew calendars and traditional Christian calendars, Sunday is the first day of the week, and according to the International Organization for Standardization, ISO 8601 Sunday is the seventh and last day of the week. No century in the Gregorian calendar starts on a Sunday, whether its first year is ’00 or ’01. The Jewish New Year never falls on a Sunday. (The rules of the Hebrew calendar are designed such that the first day of Rosh Hashanah will never occur on the first, fourth, or sixth day of the Jewish week; i.e., Sunday, Wednesday, or Friday).

So what are you doing today? Are you worshipping God or just resting? You see if you’re just resting, you should, in some way, according to our history, if you’re a Christian and not Muslim or Jewish, also worship the Lord. Now most people these days have forgotten all about the worship part but embraced the rest part wholeheartedly, but throughout history, until recently, one has always gone with the other. So when did it all change? I think it’s only like in the last 40 or 50 years that we forgot about the most important part. It’s not 1000 years ago as some might think, I’ll bet my Mom, when she was a young girl, always had some sort of worship on Sunday whether it was going to church or something else like a family gathering or dinner, where grace was most certainly said.  If you don’t remember this from your childhood, ask your parents, you might be surprised.

We must now ask ourselves, why did we stop giving even a brief thought as to what Sunday is supposed to be all about and turn it into only a day of games, rest, parties or whatever we do. I don’t know about you but I would suggest that it’s high time we think about the meaning of the day and take a look at how we give thanks to God for everything in our lives. Don’t be afraid to think about God or what you believe. It’s hard when you’ve gone for decades not giving it a thought, but it’s never too late! God is there for you, for all of us, just waiting for you to ask him into your life. You don’t have to do this out loud or discuss it with your spouse or for that matter, anyone, it’s just between you and our Lord Jesus Christ. Trust me, you’ll be better off and glad you did!

Ok, enough sermon for today. Yesterday we were busy all day. Between going to pick up a bunch of vegetables and a birthday party and dinner and Lori working all day long on decorations for the dance, we had not a moment to breathe. Finally at 7pm we were all home winding down with laundry still going. The boys were still in play mode and ran across the street to get in a few more hours of fun and games. Today we have baseball and more work around the house. Then this evening the Bronco’s are playing the Colts. We were going to go but I sold the tickets and gave the money to my Mom (she graciously buys them each year) as we’re all still kicking our colds and we’d be out way too late with work and school in the morning. We’ll go next week.

That’s it, hope you all are well, take care and God Bless you all!

Finally the weekend

Thank God it’s the weekend, boy do we need it. Today Jag has a birthday party from 2:30 until 5pm but before then he and I are headed up to Boulder to pick up 40 pounds of tomato’s and a bunch of other fresh veggies. We ended up with enough for 12 quarts of canned tomato’s and 12 of Colorado peaches last week and now I think we’ll make up some salsa and then freeze it.

Yesterday it rained again as it’s getting cooler. Jag did have baseball practice from about 4:30 until 5:45 when the rain forced it to end. Ty and I ran to the bookstore to get him Treasure Island. While there I couldn’t resist picking up a hunting magazine. Normally I don’t buy magazines as they’re too expensive but tis the season.

I did drop into Lori’s work yesterday as I was in the neighborhood, and dropped off some wine for all the girls. They were down two girls who were sick but they rest were there and thrilled.

Lori’s neck, head and body hurt. I think she has her cold still and then of course, our bed sucks.

Here’s a comment from Eleanor,

Eleanor Tafoya says:

Grandpa bob is going to watch the 49 ers in the big room ,with a big t.v. Screen,I am going to bring him his 49 er cap, for his sake I hope the 49 ers win.

Glad she’s bringing him his hat, her loves the 49rs, sure hope they win and that he’s feeling better.

After Jag’s party today we’re having a quick dinner at Elway’s (our favorite restaurant) so I can check on things as they pour our wines. Then we should be home by 7:30 or so to get some rest. Jag is up with me now but Lori and Ty are still sleeping.

That is it people, no politics today as it’s the weekend, take care and God Bless.

A bad night of football

That is, if you’re a Green Bay fan. The Seachickens beat the Packers soundly. On top of that, Green Bay’s running back has a concussion. There’s something about Seattle’s style of play that reminds me of college ball and it’s working. Oh well, hope Grandma didn’t throw anything at her tv. At least she only had to see it through one eye! Hope the 49’rs do better for Grandpa Bob!

It rained here hard last night, so hard, it woke me up. Lori and Ty now seem to have the worst colds as Jag and I have somewhat recovered. I have lots of computer work today and Lori has lots going on at the office. Jagger has a birthday party tomorrow, baseball practice tonight, and a game Sunday. Then we have the Broncos game Sunday night and it’s supposed to rain pretty much the whole time.

The hair on Mojo’s back from where they shaved him is finally growing back. Lori says lucky he can’t see it as he’d be embarrassed. He seems to be all better from his illness.

Lots of crap going on here we’re having to deal with but no point in sharing with you all as there’s not much you could do to help. It just hasn’t been a good few weeks but we’re trying to stay positive and come out of it smiling.

Time to run as Ty has math homework to finish. It’s almost 7am as we all slept in. Hope everyone is well, take care and God Bless.

Get it out of the way

A cold, that is, referring to todays title. That’s what I’m trying to get out of the way. It seems everyone but me is pretty much better while my throat, nose and head is still going strong. Maybe I can skip the flu shot as I feel like I’ve been battling it for the past three days and should be immune.

The kids were back in school. Turns out the Harris kids were also sick but they were vomiting! Guess we were lucky. Lori had a wart or something cut off between her toes yesterday. They had to go real deep so it’s pretty sore. I had three or four calls after a morning appointment. Today will be more of the same.

Tonight NFL Football starts! I guess it’s Green Bay and Seattle which should be a pretty good game. It was over 100 degrees yesterday when I picked up Ty and it supposed to start getting cooler today.

On the World Stage, I don’t know where to start. Now our Pres is even contradicting himself in the same press conference???? Even dems are running away from him, not good for our Country. Guess I’ll just let it go for now but shit’s coming down, excuse my language.

Take care, say a prayer for our Country and everyone you care about and God Bless.

Government-to-government foreign aid promotes statism, centralized planning, socialism, dependence, pauperization, inefficiency, and waste. It prolongs the poverty it is designed to cure. Voluntary private investment in private enterprise, on the other hand, promotes capitalism, production, independence, and self-reliance.

Watch out for her good eye!

By about 10 am I heard from Uncle T who said my Mom’s cataract surgery went well and she was home. I guess it went so well she’s thinking of getting the other eye done in 2 weeks! Wow, amazing things that can be done today.

Both boys were home sick with me today, whoo hoo, and not in a good way! I too was sick but had to work regardless. I was off to the Ford dealer before 7am to get some diesel additive the truck needed. Lori left for work (not feeling well but going too) by 8:30, leaving me with both boys. They did pretty well considering they were not feeling well and were home inside all day.

Finally around 3pm I knocked off for the day as I just couldn’t keep going. I cleaned up and threw in a couple chicken breasts for the misses and I for dinner.

On the World stage, they (the World Health Organization) says we’ll have over 100,000 ebola cases by December, super. Next up is another beheading by the bad guys overseas, and last, 11 commercial jetliners have disappeared from Tripoli’s airport after being taken over by militants. Wonder what they’ll do with those, hmmmm. I could go on but that right there is enough to chew on for the day. I know many of you are still in denial thinking none of this will affect you personally, and I hope you’re right, but I think you’re wrong. Too many people living in denial is a major contributor to the problems we have in society today. If everyone were to stand up and say “stop”, things could change. But alas, most are far too concerned with their new tv or fancy clothes to realize what is happening right in front of their eyes. I’ll stop now as I’m sure some have already tuned out for the day. Oh well, a guys gotta try!

Proverbs 27:12: “The prudent see danger and take refuge, but the simpleton pass on and suffer for it.”

Have a nice day, God Bless.

4 out of 4

That’s how many here at the house have a cold right now! Jagger, Lori, Ty and I have sore throats and stuffy noses, and everyone is well,  just a little tired.

We were up early and Ty arrived home around 8:30am from the lake. He was beat from 3 days of boating, camping, bike riding and general playing. Sunday night after I picked up Lori I had a sore throat but it didn’t take full hold until around 10am in the morning. Jagger soon followed in the late morning and Ty in the afternoon with the same sore throat and runny nose while Lori brought up the rear with it hitting her at 7pm. Lori was still tired and she and I basically watched movies all day on the couch. She did get up and run to the grocery store for us all, and then threw a chicken in the oven.

My Mom is going in for cataract surgery this morning, hopefully that’ll go well! We talked to Bob (or Lori did) and he seemed in good spirits as I could hear in the background. As my Mom always says, getting old is hell!

Today we’re all back at it, the boys at school and Lori and I at work. Hope you all are doing well, take care, God Bless and Happy September.

A day off

Lori arrived home physically and emotionally exhausted last night about 5pm. Jag and I made it down from the mountains by a little after 9am and then cleaned up and did some laundry. Then he and I went to a movie as Ty is staying one more day up at the lake. By 7 the three of us had some food and then we started to wind down.

Today we’re just going to take it easy and try to get back into our normal routine. I guess everyone must be really busy as we haven’t heard much from anyone. I hope you all had a great weekend. Time to run, God Bless.

All moved in

By about 6pm last night, Lori had her dad all moved in to his new place. I guess the place is ok but has a small crappy tv. Bob needs to get his tv and some clothes from Eleanor’s so at least he has a decent tv to watch. Luckily he recently bought himself a new one! Maybe it’ll feel a little more like home once he gets it in his new place. Thanks very much to Eleanor for all she did for Bob as she cared for him for a long time. I know Bob and everyone appreciates it.

Jagger and I headed to the mountains around 8am to beat the traffic. We ran around the hills for most of the day and then had dinner at TiAmo. We both had a really good time. Meanwhile Ty is out at the lake having a blast as I talked with him early in the morning.

Today Lori gets home at 5pm, we’re all excited for Mom to come home. It’s been anything but a restful time for her. I’m glad she has Monday to decompress. She not only had lots to do, all in a matter of a few days, but also had to stay strong emotionally around everyone. We’re really proud of her as it has not been easy.

That’s about it, hope everyone is having a good holiday weekend. Take care and God Bless and everyone say a prayer for Bob!

Moving Day

This morning Bob is moving from the hospital to a new home. I guess it’s an assisted living center that’s pretty darn nice about 5 minutes away from Dixie. This is great news and all thanks to Lori. Today she worked her butt off with the case manager and medicare of California and a completed a bunch of other things I don’t even know about, to get Bob accepted into a place where he’ll be looked after and treated well. Hopefully the drive over will be smooth and then she can get him settled. I think Eleanor is coming over Sunday so she will bring some of his clothes. Hopefully Lori will get some rest tonight and then feel better tomorrow when she’ll fly home. One funny story, I was talking to her as she came out of the hospital in a rush to go to the bank to get a copy of Bob’s bank statement for Medicade when she said, “oh my gosh, someone stole my rental car”! Turns out, thankfully, it was in another row or something but for a moment, she thought it was gone. That would have been the icing on the cake after all we’ve been through lately!

Meanwhile back at the ranch, Ty is off camping at the lake with Vinny until Sunday and Jag and I are headed to Vail today for a quick trip. We just decided to get out of town for the day. It rained again yesterday, hard. This has to be the wettest summer on record. Tomorrow I have another fantasy football draft for my second league, wish me luck. I’ll need to cut it short as Lori gets in around 5pm. We’re hoping to win the lottery tonight and will keep you posted.

No comments from yesterday, well, that’s ok. I just hope that inside you think about what’s important in your life, as there are no do-overs! God Bless!
