Snow

Man, if you turn on the tv, you’d think Colorado never had a snowstorm before. Yes, it looks like it’s coming down, but having lived here most of my life, I’ve certainly seen this movie before. Up here in God’s country, we might have an inch on the cars with only half the driveway covered. Looks like a wet snow so I’m happy this one missed us.

I have a call at 10 this morning, Ty works at 8 and Lori, well, she works all the time, no matter where she is. Last night we had some filets from Edwards as the Nuggets beat Miami and took over first place. It was a good win. If you could take one thing away from the Denver Nuggets, it’s how they always have the ability to turn it on and close strong. It’s a good life lesson, as it shows how important the mental aspect of the game, and life, is.

My lifelong buddy Jeffrey who lives in Hawaii and is known as the Guitar Doctor (you should remember him; he plays with Fleetwood Mac and all the other pros) called me a few weeks ago and told me about a 2005 Custom Shop 1962 reissue Fender Telecaster that was coming on the market. He knew I always had a soft spot for tele’s. Jeffrey told me to buy this as he said we’ll more than double our money in less than a year. So, it’s shipping from Seattle on Monday. Jeffrey brokers vintage guitars and amps for all the professional musicians and if he says buy it, you buy it. He’s working on a 200-piece collection in L.A. right now for about $300K. But this piece he says is a no brainer. So next week, we’ll have a new tele to play around with. We have about half a dozen guitars right now, the boys two Fender Strats, (both from Jeffrey probably ten years ago), and 3 acoustics with one being a killer Martin D-35 that James played for a few months and set up for me. Think he used it on a few tracks on the new album. Just another side hustle. Good timing as my inner Keith Richard’s can come out to get ready for the upcoming concert.

Yesterday afternoon, four of us got together for a quick cigar. Cigar night is actually tonight, so we’ll probably all get together again, weather permitting. Saturday we’re having John and Cathy over for dinner. Marty and Melanie want to go to Frisco Prime tomorrow night, but we’ll have to see how the roads are. That’s it, time to start Ty’s car for him and get ready to go to the gym. God Bless and have a great Thursday!

Snow’s a coming

Looks like tomorrow the snow will be measured in feet. We should be ok up here, with the forecast being maybe six inches, but Denver and the foothills are in for a whopper. It’ll be a heavy, wet snow that is almost too hard to shovel. You either need to plow it or wait for it to melt. We’ll see.

Yesterday I was at Libby’s by 8:30 for my appointment. After a full body skin check, she carved a hole out of my left lower leg. I had a bump, not really a mole, there for years. But Libby said she wanted to cut it out, so off it went. Otherwise, she said my skin looks really good but said I should start wearing a hat as I’m getting sun damage on the top of my head. I was shocked and said, “but I have hair”, to which she laughed and said, that doesn’t matter. So, guess I’ll start wearing a hat. I’m due for a new look anyhow, ha. Everyone over 50 should get skin checks, and apparently, stay out of the sun, or at least wear sunscreen. Libby told me to even put sunscreen daily on the back of my hands to avoid dark spots which all three of us kids are prone to due to our complexion. I was out by 9:30 and off to see my buddy Art at the jewelry store.

Art and his dad started Hyde Park and are the watch guys. Art runs the nationwide secondary market for a group of four stores called the 1916 Group. Carlos who works for him, and runs the Rolex boutique, has been looking for this one rare Rolex for me for months. He thinks he’s getting close to getting me one. Bored with my Omega, I traded it in for a new manual wound Panerai. It’s a really cool, interesting piece that weighs about half of what the Omega did. It has a soft blue lambskin strap and a blue dial with gold hands and numbers. With the Rolex almost here, I don’t need two heavy watches.

Lori works in Vail today, Ty of course in Edwards, and I’ll head out to the gym. I went to Costco and the grocery store yesterday so we’re pretty good on stuff. I also bought four steaks and a small corn beef at Edwards in Denver. My truck needs some new module they had to order but drives fine. Just a light thing that has now been gone for the past 3 days, ha.

That’s it, time to get moving. Have a great day, and if you’re in Denver (Tom), get to the store today! God Bless.

Up and down

Back to Denver for a quick trip today, then back up the hill. Same thing with the weather, it’s up and down with snow and sun, and then snow and sun. Thankfully the snow is measured in inches and not feet. Looks like Denver will get it worse than we will.

Pretty quick, uneventful trip yesterday. But there’s something in the air. This is not my normal heightened awareness, but something else. I just have a gut feeling we’re in for some kind of trouble. Might be wrong, but one thing I’ve learned is to trust your gut feelings. Your gut is usually right. Nothing really to do except be a little more aware, watch your pennies and top of your supplies. No need for alarm.

Ty works today and Lori works in Edwards. I should be home early afternoon, depending on how long it takes them to figure out the light on the dash of my truck. 5:20am now so time to get going so I can be on the road by 6. Make it a great day and God Bless.

Here we go again

I’m in Denver today and tomorrow. It’s really not that bad of a drive, as long as there’s no ski traffic. I hope to be on the road by 6:30 and back by noon or 1. Tomorrow I have a 9am dermatologist appointment.

Yesterday was a day of rest, especially for Lori who was a little hungover. She had one too many sips of wine at dinner. Some snow again this week. March is our snowiest month, so no surprise. Then by the weekend, we’re back to warm temps.

Ty spent the night at Madi’s but will be home tonight. A bunch of his friends are back in town for Spring Break. He then works for the next six days.

Not much else happening here. Another Monday, let’s go! God Bless.

Home late

Last night we had a good time at Jeff and Tina’s. The food wasn’t all that good as she had trouble with her oven and Jeff had trouble with the meat on the grill, but the company was great. With the time change, we pulled in about 1am.

I woke up at 6:30 to wake Ty up as his alarm didn’t switch over. He had work at 7 so was probably 20 or 30 minutes late.

We’ll just hang out around the house today. Glad I don’t drink. It was like a movie watching everyone slowly deteriorate, over half a dozen bottles of wine. Traffic was fine coming home, with almost no one on the road once I got out of Denver.

Have a great Sunday, 8:54am now. I think Lori went back to bed. I’ll probably go to the gym and grab Ty a bagel and drop it off for him. Be well, stay safe and God Bless.

Dinner in Denver

We’ll be in Denver tonight for dinner, as mentioned yesterday. Looks like the snow has stopped and warm temperatures are on the way. Should be a fun time. We all in Colorado lose an hour tonight as Daylight Savings Time is over.

Think we’re going to go to Costa Rica in May and Copenhagen in June. The kids will go with us to Costa Rica and then Lori and I will head to Europe with Shultz and Jane to see James and the boys play a show. Lorenzo and Jen say Copenhagen is the best city in Europe to go to right now. The Olympics will be going on in Paris so that should thin out some of the crowds.

Ty is up and out the door as he works at 7 this morning. I need to wash the truck before we head down this afternoon.

Craig our landscaper was over yesterday afternoon, and has some extra aspen trees left over from last year, so I think we’ll add some more to the backyard. He always gives us a great deal as I pay cash. Years ago, I had to train him on this but now he’s addicted to getting paid in cash from me and I always get a good discount on everything. Need to wait about a month for the ground to thaw out. I think when it warms up, it’s really going to warm up so we’ll take all the moisture we can get.

That is about it. Time to go. 6:30 now. We’ll probably go to the gym. I worked out with Brent yesterday and did legs and chest so I can take it easy today. Have a great Saturday and God Bless.

Hmmm

Last night Lori and I went to cigar night! Lori didn’t actually smoke a cigar, she and Addy hung out with Meliss and Jennifer. Melissa is visiting from Palm Springs where she moved about a year ago. The girls did come out to the cabin to say hi though so they could see it. Lori and I made it home around 7 and then the Nuggets game started at 8. It was a great game against the Boston Celtics who are the favorites in the east to make the finals. We beat them for the second time this year which is a big thing.

We’re working out at 8. We think Ty works at 7 as his music started blaring at 5:30. Tomorrow we’re headed to Jeff and Tina’s for dinner with Shultz and Jane and Manny and Silvia. Tina is working up some fancy dinner. We’ll drive home after dinner putting us here probably around 10 or 10:30. We could stay the night but it’s not that bad of a drive, especially at that time of night.

Sunshine all weekend long. Looks like the 60’s. Time changes back tomorrow night. Time to spring forward meaning we lose an hour. I don’t know why we’re still on Daylight Savings Time. Makes no sense as I don’t think any other State around us is still on it.

Horrible partisan speech by Bozo last night, embarrassing at best. Not sure what drugs they gave him to keep him going. Word is it’s Adderall. I really don’t understand how half the Country is fooled by this fool. God help the United States of America!

On to the day, make it great! God Bless.

Buying spree

I was in Denver trying to get a light on the dash of my truck to stop going on and off on a whim. The dealer couldn’t figure it out and has a call into Detroit. It doesn’t mess with anything mechanical, so I picked up my truck and drove it home around 1.

While they were looking at it, I ran up to see Shad at MHS. They’re a military and law enforcement dealer. I asked how business was and he told me, lots of rich people buying lots of guns and ammo. They mostly sell to police departments and govt. agencies but in his words, the rich are on a buying spree.

Next up, to waste some more time, I went to see Lisa at the Rolex and jewelry store. She said the same thing, lots of people buying Rolex’s and gold, hmm. Sounds like a trend.

Then I headed to Tony’s Market to get Ty a couple dozen corn dogs. He loves them and they’re an easy snack for him. By then I headed back to the dealer to grab my truck and up the hill I went. Of course, the light was not on in my truck, ha.

No snow last night. Looks like some in Denver but I hope we’ll miss this last round. Then the 60’s are headed our way. I have some organizing to do today in the garage and basement. Time to get some things in order. Call it Spring cleaning. Once it warms up a bit, I’m getting rid of the storage unit, time to purge things even more.

6:10am so time to get going. Have a great day and God Bless.

On the road again

Yesterday I took Lori to Glenwood for a meeting at the hospital. She and Dr. B are maybe going to start operating out of there too. We drove Dr. B back to Vail as he had a 3:30 surgery and had to get to the OR. His wife Molly, drove home after dropping him off.

Today Lori is in Frisco, and I’m headed to Denver. I’m having my truck serviced and need to run up to Frederick. I’d like to get a new Suburban, but Chevrolet isn’t offering any interest rate specials on them right now, just trucks.

Ty will be home this afternoon and Lori probably around 6. Jagger is better today and was back in class. No snow yesterday, maybe a flake or two, but nothing on the ground. We’re invited to a dinner party in Denver this Saturday, but we’re not sure if we want to make the trip.

That is about it, hope all’s well, be safe and God Bless.

Warming up?

There’s an uneasy feeling these days. Something just isn’t right with the World. Not sure what’s going on, but something is in the wind. Don’t let your guard down.

Yesterday I had twice as much snow to shovel than the day before. Nothing, thankfully, came down last night. Ty and Madi made it up from Denver ok. They went to see the movie Dune before heading up the hill. The concert was fun, so I’m told.

Jagger is sick, didn’t even make it to class. Guess Ava had it last week. Sort of cloudy outside but not too bad. I was headed to Denver today but think I’ll wait until tomorrow. Lori has an appointment in Glenwood at 1 so I’ll drive her instead.

We had tons of birds outside all day yesterday munching down on bird seed. In the morning, a large herd of elk were outside across the street. Snow doesn’t bother them. I need to get them some more bird seed today.

That is it for the day. Hope all’s well with everyone, take care, be safe and God Bless.
