One more time

Lori and I are off to Denver for lunch. We changed it from a dinner to lunch due to the incoming snow today. Plus, Ty leaves in the morning for Montana. Yesterday we watched some basketball and messed around the house. We did make a Costco run. Jag flew out last night for L.A.

We’ll leave around 9:30 or 10 for our 12:30 lunch. Should be ahead of the ski traffic. It’s nice outside now. This week is supposed to be a mixture of rain and a little snow up here with temps in the 40’s. Don’t think much will stick on the ground, but time will tell.

Another shooting in Denver. This is pretty much a daily occurrence. Not surprising. The govt. just launched a new anti-gun program teaching those in power how to take individuals firearms away. This is all thanks to the new funding bill the GOP caved in on. $750 million to strip Americans of their constitutional rights, nice. How many criminals do you think will be affected by this law? I say zero. We don’t have a gun problem, or a knife problem. What we have is a lack of respect for the law and your fellow man problem. Doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure that one out. Just look at the attitude of the people today. Everyone expects free stuff, ignores law and authority and is divided by race. Throw in illegals from all over the World with no money and no respect for our laws, (staring with the immigration laws) and there you have it. This is all by design as the Dems know the more people they let in, the more representatives they can get from the census and the better chance they have of staying in power. God help us. Man, we need term limits. That’ll never happen though as the people that want to stay in power would need to vote for themselves to not stay in power.

Have a great day, stay safe and God Bless.

Another weekend

I had a good lunch with Luisa yesterday and did some shopping for our anniversary which is Monday. Also made a couple other stops. On the way home I listened to the CU basketball game which we won in dramatic fashion. Then Mark and Clark called and asked if I wanted to meet them at James on the way home to watch some more b-ball and have a cigar. After that, I strolled in around 7:45.

We’re supposed to go to dinner tomorrow but I’m thinking we might change that to a lunch as Denver looks like it’s going to get snow. Talked with Tom a couple times and briefly saw him when I dropped off Jaggers snorkeling gear, which he’ll pick up today. He and Ava are going to leave his car at Tommy’s and Uber to the airport. Good thinking.

I received a text last night that our longtime family friend and Mom’s long-time jeweler in Scottsdale, passed away from a sudden heart attack. Glen had been a friend and known Mom and Dad for over 40 years, maybe more, and took care of them every time they needed any jewelry. He then did the same for me, making Lori’s original wedding ring and all others since we’ve been married. We just saw him within the past year as he was semi-retiring as his wife had a stroke and his brother wasn’t doing well. So shocking and so sad. Patrick texted me last night, still kind of in shock. You never know when your time is up so cherish each day and be kind to everyone.

Another shocker, Princess Kate of Great Britian announced she has cancer. Bad things happen to good people. Hope she makes it through this as she’s such a classy lady. They say there’s much more cancer coming out these days from the vaccines, who knows. Numbers don’t lie so something is up, as there is a spike in countries with the highest vaccination rates, hmm.

I could go on but I’ll leave it at that for today. Have a great day and tell those you love, you love them! God Bless.

Lunch

Today I’m off to Denver to have lunch with Luisa who lands around noon at DIA. I need to drop Jagger’s snorkeling gear at Tommy’s so he can pick it up on his way to California tomorrow. He and Ava are headed there until Thursday when they’ll fly home and head up here for Easter weekend. Ty is off to Bozeman Monday until Friday evening. I borrowed a snowboard case from Andres at cigar night so Ty can take his gear. Lori’s thrilled, and so am I, that we’ll all be together for Easter.

Yesterday Lori and I made it to Denver, and she had her hair done while I ran some errands. Today I have a Custom Shop 1962 Fender Telecaster arriving. Not sure if I mentioned it a few weeks ago, but Jeffrey called and told me to jump on it. It’s a super cool, pretty rare guitar that is worth way more than I paid. Excited to get it.

Lori will stay home today while I make the trip. I think I-70 is closed right now from Silverthorne to the tunnel. Need to check that out.

Time to get moving, Ty’s already at work and Lori is working away at her computer. Have a great Friday and God Bless.

Glenwood

Yesterday around 11am, I took Ty to get his car from the Audi dealership in Glenwood. The car has a bit of a worn link in the turbo but the advisor said it’ll run for years before it’ll have any issues. So, home we went.

This morning Lori and I are off to Denver and Ty is headed to work. Last night we got his ticket to go to Bozeman next week to hang with his buddies who have Spring Break. He leaves Monday and comes back Friday. He had enough miles to go First Class. Good for him. He’ll fly from Eagle through Denver both ways. Super excited for him, should be fun.

Lori and I should be back by 3, hope so anyhow. That’s it, have a great Thursday, GB.

Spring is here

Guess Spring officially arrived sometime last night. Today is the first full day of Spring, so they say. Good news is it’s here.

Lori is in Frisco today and Ty has the day off. I’ll be working around the house. Even though the garage is somewhat organized, I just have too much stuff in it. We have a lot of Dixie’s stuff that needs to go away. Lori needs to process though so it’ll take some time. I still need to get rid of Mom’s old furniture in our storage unit! Once it warms up, that’ll move to the top of the list.

Tomorrow Lori has a doctor and hair appointment. I dropped in to see Phoebe yesterday and she squeezed me in for my haircut. That frees up time tomorrow while Lori gets her hair done. Then it was up to the PD (police dept.) dealer get some things sorted out on some accessories that require federal approval.

Big settlement on real estate fees. Good news for everyone but real estate agents. Commissions have been fixed in that industry for as long as I can remember. Now you can negotiate your commission when buying or selling a house. Interesting.

6:30 am now, think I’ll head to the gym since I’ll miss the next two days. Have a good day, stay safe and God Bless.

3/19/24

Dates these days are kind of surreal. Seems like some science fiction movie, 2024, wow.

I’m off to Denver this morning and then back up the hill. We took Ty’s car to the Audi dealer in Glenwood yesterday. Should be fixed by Friday as we’re waiting on a fuel pump that was recalled. Talked to Jag for a couple minutes yesterday, all is well.

Lori is in Vail today. Ty stayed at Madi’s and will be taking the bus to work. Then I guess he’s off tomorrow and works again Thursday thru Sunday.

6am now so time to move. Have a great day and God Bless.

Here we go

Busy week, lots going on. Lori is in Vail today and I need to get Ty’s car in for service. Thankfully it’s still under factory warranty. Just need to make sure the guys up here do warranty work.

Going to be a nice week with a little rain and maybe a little snow on the weekend, but nothing big. It’s 7am now as we slept in a bit. Two weeks from today will be April 1st! Bring it on.

That’s it, short post today, time to go, God Bless.

St. Patrick

Ever wonder the story behind today? Well, here it is. Feel free to skip down a few paragraphs if you’re not interested.

The dates of Patrick’s life cannot be fixed with certainty, but there is general agreement that he was active as a missionary in Ireland during the fifth century. A recent biography on Patrick shows a late fourth-century date for the saint is not impossible. According to tradition dating from the early Middle Ages, Patrick was the first bishop of Armagh and Primate of Ireland, and is credited with bringing Christianity to Ireland, converting a pagan society in the process. He has been generally so regarded ever since, despite evidence of some earlier Christian presence.

According to Patrick’s autobiographical Confessio, when he was about sixteen, he was captured by Irish pirates from his home in Britain and taken as a slave to Ireland. He writes that he lived there for six years as an animal herder before escaping and returning to his family. After becoming a cleric, he returned to spread Christianity in northern and western Ireland. In later life, he served as a bishop, but little is known about where he worked. By the seventh century, he had already come to be revered as the patron saint of Ireland.

His feast day is observed on 17 March, the supposed date of his death. It is celebrated in Ireland and among the Irish diaspora as a religious and cultural holiday. In the dioceses of Ireland, it is both a solemnity and a holy day of obligation.

So there you have it. Enjoy your green beer and corned beef today. For me, it signals sort of the beginning of Spring. Usually, it’s downhill from here towards summer. Let’s hope so. I’m ok with a few good super soakers of rain, but let’s bring on the green colors of Spring.

Hovey is closed today (where Ty works) as due to the snow, they didn’t get their shipment of supplies (food) from Denver. His Check Engine light came on while driving home last night, so tomorrow we’ll get his car in to check it out.

Lori and I will go to the gym and then head home for the day. I did some work in the basement yesterday and have some more to do today. I have a busy week as I’m in Denver alone Tuesday and Friday, and down with Lori on Thursday and Sunday. More to come on what we’re doing next week. Two weeks from today is Easter. Hard to believe. That is it for the day, wear some green and God Bless.

The Weekend

Saturday, ah, a day of chores. When young, it was more of a day of fun. It’s still fun, but mostly chores. Our dinner is off as John and Kathy can’t make it up from Boulder due to all the snow. I guess it’s melting fast down there, but things are still a mess. That’s ok, we’re fine with it.

Yesterday I picked up a few fresh chickens, 4 dozen eggs, and a loaf of freshly baked bread. Kellie refused to take any money as we give her lots of vino. As an old Indian would say, good trade. Speaking of Indians, the All-Nation Pow Wow is in Denver today. If it wasn’t such a huge drive with the snow, we’d go. Tribes from all over the Country and Canada travel here to kick off the year.

Blue sky outside with no snow. Spring like outside with 50 degrees headed our way today, nice. Have a great weekend and God Bless.

Nice day

Yesterday while Denver battled the snow, we were basking in the warmth of the sun and 50 degrees. Our roads were dry and the little snow that was on the ground was melting fast. Today it should be even warmer. Our old hood in Denver, where Tommy lives, looks pretty nasty. Wet heavy snow makes for rough going and isn’t good for the trees. The high moisture content though, is always needed.

Tomorrow John and Kathy are coming over for dinner. Today we’ll just hang around the house. Last night, six of us made it to cigar night. Good time. Always great to get together with the guys.

Yesterday after the gym, while at Hovey (where Ty works), we ran into Ryan, my buddy who owns 10th Mountain Whisky. His whole family was up from Texas including his brother-in-law and buddy who are both Texas Rangers. He introduced us and we hit it off as we always try to support law enforcement, especially these days. I offered to supply some wine and a few concert tickets for any fundraiser they have, and they were super appreciative. Ryan’s brother-in-law’s, buddy, who is head of the Texas Rangers, said “hang on a minute”. He went outside and came back and gave me a Challenge Coin from the Rangers and a key chain/money clip from the Rangers too, embossed with their logo. He told me if I ever get pulled over in Texas, just flash this and I’d be ok. Lori saw this and said, “hey, I’m taking that”, so of course, it was now hers. The Captain saw this and went outside and brought me a second one, ha. So now we’re golden in Texas. I have quite a few Challenge Coins from various departments and agencies, which are highly coveted, as you can’t buy them. The only way to get one, is to be given one, and they just don’t hand them out to everyone. We joked, that now we’re moving to Texas!

Ty’s on the road to work. In a couple weeks, he and a buddy are driving up to Bozeman to see friends. Then after that, he’s planning on going out to Santa Barbara to stay with his buddy. Jag and Ava are going to Laguna Beach for Spring Break. In the summer, Ty and three buddies are wanting to go to Ibiza Spain. We’re excited for him as he works really hard and at 20 years old, he should be taking road trips. Not sure if they can afford Spain. He’s paid off nearly half his car and the first bill isn’t even due yet. In fact, we don’t even have the paperwork yet. Good for him. Lori’s happy he’s going without Madi. Jag has a snow day today as classes are cancelled in Boulder.

That’s it, almost 7am so time to get moving. Take care, be safe and God Bless.
