Lori is in Frisco today and I’m thankfully hanging around the house. I was in and out of Denver by noon yesterday. Lots going on at work. We’re making more changes to deal with the new normal of a slower economy. Won’t bore you with the details but no matter what they tell you, things continue to be tough these days. The main issue is the govt. and all their regulations and new taxes on the people. Say what you will about Trump, but lower regulation and just getting out of the way of business is a good thing. Lots of prognosticators warning about the market and the state of the economy.
Warm up here until the weekend. Then we’ll get a little slushy rain snow mixture, so they say. Before then, mid-60’s, maybe even 70 up here. Jag has a new place in Boulder for next year. He’ll move in in August.
Ty works again today. I stopped and saw him on my way home yesterday. James and Addy were having lunch there. Marty and Melanie are coming over for dinner on Friday. Lori is in Denver tomorrow for a derm appointment at 1:30. Not sure if I’ll go with her or not.
It’s almost 6am. We woke up at 5:20 this morning. Have a great Wednesday and take care. God Bless.
50 up here today, probably in the 60’s down in Denver. I’m dropping my truck around 8:30 or 9 for service and then will run a few errands while they fix it up. Then it’s back up the hill.
Lori worked until probably 8 last night here at home. She has a lot of patients from Mexico that are private pay meaning big bucks. They also require more work.
It’s 6am now and I should be out of here in 45 minutes so time to get moving. But before I go, a reporter asked Biden why he declared Easter Trans Day of Visibility. When asked, he said, and this is a quote, “I didn’t do that”! Just proves the point that other people are pulling the strings. The man had no idea that this happened or that he supposedly did it. Of course, it could be that maybe he didn’t remember he did it. Either way, we’re screwed. What a mess. I think I’ll create a new acronym, WAM, for What a mess.
Spring is here! Unless it’s an April Fool’s joke. We had some rain yesterday and this week it supposedly going to warm up. If so, soon the mountains will be turning green. There’s a thin layer or dusting of snow outside but nothing you could even shovel.
Jag and Ava were out of here by 11:30 headed home. Ty worked all day and then after coming home, went to spend the night at Madi’s. I watched some basketball and finished off the lamb which was oh so good.
I have a call today at 9 and Lori works in Vail. I think Ty is headed to the mountain as he took his board with him last night.
Hopefully we’re through with any large snowstorms, although you never know. It’d be nice to actually have a Spring as sometimes winter just blends into summer. I’m going to Costco today to stock up on some more supplies.
Water is the number one thing everyone should make sure they have a good supply of. We always keep at least a hundred gallons in the garage. Sounds like a lot, but it’s not. All tap water these days is somewhat contaminated, so is most bottled water, so they say. We have a water delivery service out of Leadville that comes by every two weeks with the 5-gallon jugs. We bought a dispenser we keep in the garage that provides hot and cold water on demand. I might add another 10 jugs so I have 20 or so at any given time but will need to clean out the garage first. We have a lot of Dixie’s stuff to go through and get rid of. I’m also cleaning out the storage unit where I have a lot of Mom’s old furniture, once it warms up. Most of it just needs to go. Don’t really want to get rid of it all, but we’re not using it and probably never will.
Time to get moving. Lori is making us salads as she does every day, for lunch. So tired of politics and what’s happening to us all. It’s surreal as a few years ago, no way you’d think we’d be where we are now. if you agree, try to think where we’ll be in five years and get ready. That’s about all you can do these days.
In closing, the Bible says in Proverbs 27.12, A prudent person foresees danger and takes precautions. The simpleton goes on and faces the consequences. Don’t be the later. The majority of people are walking around with their heads buried in their cell phones and living on social media. Try going a week without getting on social media! Not easy for most people. Impossible for a lot! What a mess. God Bless.
Happy Easter, today is the holiest day in all of Christianity. If you’re not sure of what I mean by the title of today’s post, look it up. Christians all over the World will greet each other with He Is Risen.
Ok, when I first heard this, I thought it was fake news, as it’s just too outlandish to actually be true. But no, it’s 100% fact. Sadly, yesterday, our President decided to declare today Transgender Day of Visibility. So so sad. They are literally mocking us. They hate you, hate God and want to destroy western civilization and Christianity. It’s like they’re some sort of cult. You can’t make this stuff up. People have stood by and watched this administration do a lot of things, but this is the worst. I’m ok with recognizing or even honoring any group of people, but why would they do it on the holiest of days for any religion? Because they don’t care, they want to provoke you. All I can say is I’ll pray for them. It’s so sad that this even has to be discussed or that I desecrated today by including it in today’s post. But it has to be said. And here’s the kicker, they banned any Easter egg from the National Guards Easter Egg Contest for kids that has any religious theme, like a cross on it, wow. I’m sure they’d be ok with an egg with the devil on it as they’d call it free speech or freedom of religion. CNN or any other liberal media isn’t mentioning this. They’re covering for the White House as they always do. If they’re so proud of this, why don’t they have it front and center? Because even they know, this is wrong. This will be remembered in history.
Now on to the day, last night we had a really nice Easter dinner. Lori made lamb shanks, grits and a bunch of sides including homemade ice cream for dessert. Ty works at 7 this morning and just left and Jag and Ava will head down later morning.
I met up with Clark yesterday to watch the CU women’s game. We were outplayed but good for them for getting this far. Great to have both boys and Ava here. They all had a fun time over Spring break. It was fun hearing all the stories.
Robi and Robert are going to church this morning, good for them. Then they’re having homemade macaroons and I think she said, Jello shots, ha. Tom is having a bunch of people over for honey baked ham and other stuff. Glad he has company, and we’ll be here at the house. Here’s a few pics of Lori’s great dinner, yum.
That’s it, fight the good fight, thank God for his only son and take joy in the fact that He Is Risen, May God Bless and save us all! Happy Easter.
Jag and Ava rolled in sometime late last night. We weren’t up but it had to be midnight or so. Ty made it home at 8 and headed to Madi’s to spend the night. He works this morning and we’ll see him after the gym. Think we’ll have Easter dinner tonight as Ty works tomorrow and Jag and Ava will need to get home to get ready for school on Monday.
I had a good breakfast in Grand Junction with a candidate for Colorado’s 3rd District. This is crazy Lauren Bobert’s old district. Stephen is a 39 year old veteran who was a democrat before he woke up and realized the party is no longer the party of John Kennedy. He’s Latino and Italian and been involved in the community in Pueblo for years and sits on the State school board and other community boards. The Dems are scared of him as they should be. Aspen Adam, a lawyer from back east, who is trying to buy the seat, is his main competitor. There were four of us at breakfast who he drove down to meet with. Seems like our best shot so we’ll be supporting him.
After a quick stop at the farm to pick up some fresh asparagus, (it comes up first in the Spring), I was off. I drove back through constant rain until I made it to Glenwood. Then I took a right and headed up to Basalt to go to Whole Foods. After grocery shopping I headed home. Once home, Lori and I went to Costco and then Mitch and Kellie’s for eggs and bread. Then it was home for the night until Ty arrived.
This morning we’re working out and then Lori and Addy are having coffee. The kids are sleeping and probably will be when we get back around 10.
Headed west this morning for breakfast with a guy running for Congress. He’s from Pueblo and is running to take Lauren Bobert’s seat. My buddy asked me if I’d come to meet him so we could check him out. There’s a guy from the east coast (democrat) running against him, who is a train wreck. He was caught having an affair in a storage unit, on camera, and the owner released the footage after the den denied it. He has a lot of east coast money (Shumer and the party) behind him, trying to win the house seat. Obviously it’s important to try to keep it in the hands of the republicans.
On the way home I’ll run up to Basalt to grab groceries for Easter dinner. Both boys arrive home this evening.
Five of us got together last night for our weekly cigar fellowship. James told us all about the Elton John event he played at the Gershwin Center last week. It was pretty cool, from what he said.
No snow last night. It’s actually raining outside right now. That’s just fine, as we can always use the water. Lori is still sleeping. Hope she gets some good rest.
Yesterday in New York, Biden, Obama and Clinton held a fundraiser at Radio City Music Hall. Tickets were either $250K or $500K! For an extra $100K you could get a picture with all three. This is exactly what’s wrong with the Country. People that can pay that kind of money influencing an election. Could you dream up a scenario that is more out of touch with the majority of Americans? Meanwhile Trump was visiting the family of a police officer who was killed by a guy with 21 prior convictions, that New York didn’t prosecute and released. What a mess. Couldn’t be more of a contrast. The great thing is that we all have the right to vote for whoever we want.
Today both boys rooms are going under a transformation. Ty’s will be the biggest challenge. We’ll go through all the crap in his room and bag up anything we deem no longer needed. The cleaners come at 12:30 so we need to get moving. Jag’s room is pretty good, but we will change up his bedding.
We’ll head to the gym soon, (it’s 6am now) so we are back and can get started. Maybe a couple inches of snow this evening, not sure if it’ll hit us or not. Jag and Ava come home tomorrow, not today, as I had previously thought. Both boys should arrive around 8 tomorrow night.
I managed to work a little in the basement yesterday, still lots to do. That’ll have to wait until the boys’ rooms are done. Another shooting in Denver. Happens every day now. Keep up your guard wherever you are, every day, different World these days.
Talked to Ty who is having fun. He really likes Bozeman and says it’s a really nice town. Guess he gave $12 to a homeless person who he said was really nice too, not like the crack heads (his words) in Denver, ha.
Lori works in Vail today and I have a conference call at 9:30. Then I have a bunch of other work to do on a couple of other projects.
No new snow last night. It was blowing a little bit but nothing came down. I haven’t talked with Jagger in a few days but am sure he’s doing well. They’ll fly home tomorrow night and then drive up. That’s about it, time to go as my battery is running low. Have a great day and GB.
We had a nice, uneventful anniversary. After the gym, we messed around the house and then later in the day, decided to go to Glenwood to get the boys new bedding for their rooms. After a 2-hour delay in Eagle and another hour and 20 minutes in Denver, Ty finally made it to Bozeman. We’re sure he’s having fun with his buddies.
We woke up to big time wet snow. It was one of those, as advertised Spring snows with a ton of water. By the time we got out of the gym, the roads were already dried off.
Lori is in Edwards today and I’ll run some errands. We’re excited for the kids to all be here for Easter. Looks like 70 degrees in Denver this weekend so it should be nice up here too.
Think we’ll have lamb for Easter dinner. Lori has been searching the internet for some new recipes to try.
6:19 now, the moon has been bright at night. We missed the eclipse as it was snowing that day. There was also a large geo-magnetic storm (G4) that hit us on the 24th into the 25th. Here in Colorado we were not directly in its path but those storms can cause issue with the electrical grid. The northern lights were extra bright due to the crack in the magnetic field surrounding the earth from the storm. It would be devastating if we have another event like the Carrington Event in the late 1800’s. Everything electrical would stop working. The internet, all cars made after about 1972, phones, planes, anything that uses electricity. No matter how you try to imagine what it’d be like, it’d be worse. Hope that doesn’t happen, right?
Well, that’s it, time to go, have a great day and may God Bless and watch over you.
Today is our 24th anniversary. 24 years, six months and one day ago, I met the kindest, sweetest, most caring and obviously, most beautiful woman in the World. Still not sure how I lucked out. On top of all her endearing qualities, she also turned out to be the best mother our boys could have ever hoped for. It’s been an unbelievable journey, which I hope continues for another 24 years!
Now to yesterday. Thankfully we did go for lunch instead of dinner, as on the way home, we hit the forecasted storm. By the time we made it home, it was coming down. We didn’t get a lot of snow, maybe an inch last evening, but it was wet. We have more this morning with a few inches of wet frozen, blanket type snow that is on the truck but only half the driveway. I think we’ll be in this Spring wet snow pattern most of the week, where it switches back and forth between snow and rain.
It was great to meet Guiseppe and we had a really nice lunch. He’s a great guy and will be a good partner and friend. He and his husband, who was a highly regarded international business lawyer and was going to become a magistrate (judge), decided to check out from the rat race and move back to their family’s land and the rest is history. That was 2017. They own one of the top estates (vineyards) in all of Italy with tons of international accolades. He carried a signed magnum of one of their wines (#82 of 200) as a gift for me which he gave me at lunch. Super grateful.
At 7:30 we’re off to drop Ty at the airport here in Eagle for his flight to Denver and then to Bozeman. The flight is delayed like an hour due to the snow. We’re all excited for him to go hang with Sonny and Will for the week. He’s been really working hard, and it’ll be a fun break. Jag and Ava made it to San Clemente and are doing well. Our kids are basically adults now, even though we still see them as kids. Thankfully there’s times each day or so, when they still need help in some way, from Mom and/or Dad. Not sure how we’ll feel when they stop calling us, ha.
I was going to Grand Junction after dropping Ty but will put that off until tomorrow. Lori might go into work for a bit. We’ll probably hang out tonight, maybe go grab a bite somewhere, but we try to avoid restaurant food when we can.
That is it. Time to go kiss my lovely bride and tell her I love her! Have a great day and God Bless.
