Taco Tuesday

Guess what’s for dinner? Taco’s! But before then we have a big day of work, school, intramurals, band and errands. I’m supposed to go to Vail but am not sure I can make it up there.

Yesterday after school we stopped by Grandma’s as Ty’s been bugging me to take him up as he wants to switch from the flute to the saxophone. Grandma has her old one from probably like 100 years ago but it still works. Jag managed to get some sound out of it and Ty did once with some coaching but still, he wants to play the sax! Before that we ran him over for a quick buzz cut at the barber. It’s one of the few places where $10 bucks can still get you something.

This morning Ty needs to be at school by 7am so we’re up early around here. I’ve been trying to stay away from politics but I have to say, please vote Republican! No matter which party you belong to you have to realize, and admit, that something has to change. Unfortunately the current Pres was never really qualified for the job. Even his own party is running away from him. To sum it up, read this, it’s pretty appropriate. God Bless

While walking down the street one day a Corrupt Senator was tragically hit by a car and died.
His soul arrives in heaven and is met by St. Peter at the entrance.”Welcome to heaven,” says St. Peter. “Before you settle in, it seems there is a problem. We seldom see a high official around these parts, you see, so we’re not sure what to do with you.”

“No problem, just let me in,” says the Senator.

“Well, I’d like to, but I have orders from the higher ups. What we’ll do is have you spend one day in hell and one in heaven. Then you can choose where to spend eternity.”

“Really?, I’ve made up my mind. I want to be in heaven,” says the Senator.

“I’m sorry, but we have our rules.”

And with that, St. Peter escorts him to the elevator and he goes down, down, down to hell.

The doors open and he finds himself in the middle of a green golf course. In the distance is a clubhouse and standing in front of it are all his friends and other politicians who had worked with him.

Everyone is very happy and in evening dress. They run to greet him, shake his hand, and reminisce about the good times they had while getting rich at the expense of the people.

They played a friendly game of golf and then dine on lobster, caviar and the finest champagne. Also present is the devil, who really is a very friendly guy who is having a good time dancing and telling jokes.

They are all having such a good time that before the Senator realizes it, it is time to go.

Everyone gives him a hearty farewell and waves while the elevator rises.

The elevator goes up, up, up and the door reopens in heaven where St. Peter is waiting for him, “Now it’s time to visit heaven…”

So, 24 hours passed with the Senator joining a group of contented souls moving from cloud to cloud, playing the harp and singing. They have a good time and, before he realizes it, the 24 hours have gone by and St. Peter returns.

“Well, then, you’ve spent a day in hell and another in heaven. Now choose your eternity.”

The Senator reflects for a minute, then he answers: “Well, I would never have said it before, I mean heaven has been delightful, but I think I would be better off in hell.”

So St. Peter escorts him to the elevator and he goes down, down, down to hell…

Now the doors of the elevator open and he’s in the middle of a barren land covered with waste and garbage. He sees all his friends, dressed in rags, picking up the trash and putting it in black bags as more trash falls from above

The devil comes over to him and puts his arm around his shoulders.

“I don’t understand,” stammers the Senator. “Yesterday I was here and there was a golf course and clubhouse, and we ate lobster and caviar, drank champagne, and danced and had a great time. Now there’s just a wasteland full of garbage and my friends look miserable. What happened?”

The devil smiles at him and says,

“Yesterday we were campaigning, Today, you voted..”

Vote wisely November 4TH.

Last week of October

Here we go, starting the last week of October. But first up, there was Sunday. The highlight of the day was Jagger’s game where he mostly played shortstop. In one inning, he made a spectacular double play first catching a hard hit line drive and then threw the runner out at first base. After the game we all went for pizza in Golden where 8 kids had a blast. Then it was off to home where Lori had been cleaning since she made it home from the game.

Today we’re back at it, work and school. The big event of the week of course is Halloween this coming Friday. Looks like we’re having a party with some kids and their parents over for trick or treating. Should be fun and best of all, Lori gets to dress up!

My shoulder, or to be more specific, the outside muscle of my right shoulder, has been killing me for a few weeks. I’d better get up to my doctor in Vail before we have to switch insurance or it gets cancelled. Hopefully surgery is not in the cards but if so, I’ll have to get in quick.

Meanwhile lots of work to do. We all need a break but that’s not coming anytime soon. Guess we should be thankful we have so much to do that keeps us occupied, right?

That’s about it, didn’t catch who won the baseball game last night but heard Aunt Serena (Lori’s half sister) was there, what fun! Time to run, colder today and this week, snow should be coming soon, take care and God Bless.

Sunday sunday

Last night we went downtown to dinner and sat outside on the 16th Street Mall in the heart of Denver. While our meal was fantastic, the thing to take away from our adventure was that we would never ever live in the city! Sitting on the sidewalk and people watching for two hours was down right scary, and not just because Halloween is a week away. The caliber of the general public is just horrible. What are most of these people thinking?

Anyhow our meal was great. At one point Ty healed up a lamb chop and said “I love meat!” Meanwhile Jagger had three entrees. This kid can eat you out of house and home. Earlier in the day I went down to meet my friend Steve at his buddy’s Harley Davidson shop as he was getting a new bike. Vinny, the owner, I had met before at a charity event but didn’t get to spend much time talking. Today we hung out a bit more and he’s hooking me up with some liquor distributors in the British Virgin Islands. Steve, who we’ve known for years, invited us to go to the BVI in January also. He’s been inviting us for years but we’ve never taken him up on his offer. Maybe this time, you never know.

Today we have church, then Jag’s baseball game (the last one) and then some more cleaning. We ended up skipping the party last night as we don’t really know many of the people there as their kids are much younger than ours. Lori missed dressing up I’m sure so I suggested that for our Christmas party this year, we make it an 80’s themed Christmas! She didn’t say much right away but I’m sure she’ll come around.

That’s it, no football today as the Bronco’s just played Thursday. Take care and God Bless.

The Dance

I guess Jagger had a great time and the dance was great. He said kids don’t really “dance” but just hang around and stuff. In any case, he stayed at school all day and night until he called me at 9pm. Meanwhile Ty and I ran some after school errands before making it home around 4:30.

Today we’re determined to get some cleaning done around here. Seems that’s what most of our weekends are full of. Lori was deservedly tired after a long week so we both hung on the couch and watched a movie last night.

I made it back from Vail by a little after 10am and then wrapped up my office work before heading to the distributor. That’s about it, same old, same old, have a good day and God Bless.

A great victory

Once again the Bronco’s rolled to a 35 to 21 victory over the Chargers who give up only 16 points on average. We looked pretty darn good again this week. Now we have 10 days off until New England.

Today early I’m running up to Vail to give my buddy a drive down to pick up his new car. I should be back by 10am so it’s really just a quick morning drive. Yesterday Lori’s event went great! She had her last customer sometime after 7pm and was home by about 8:20. I told her she should take the day off. She said Chris (Dr Rodgers) came in late in the afternoon and gave her a high five as they probably made $10,000 profit or so for the day. We all know though that the highlight was Lori getting to do all the decorating. Give her a theme and then get out of the way as she’s the queen of any type of theme party.

Tonight Jagger has his school Halloween party and being on student council, he’ll be dropped off at 7:45 and we won’t see him again until 9:30 tonight. They do have a chili cook off at school and a silent auction that we’ll stop by for but the school dance is off limits to us parents. We’ll take Ty with us for the action.

Tomorrow is Lori’s friend Amie’s Halloween party. Aime is the only person we know that is a small step above Lori when it comes to theme parties. We’re not all that into going but we’ll stop by. You might remember at last years party, Aime’s husband went downstairs to find a kindergarden mother buck naked and throwing herself at him! Wouldn’t want to miss any action like that!

It’ll be 80 degrees today! That’s something for late October. Sooner than later though the snow will hit so we’ll enjoy this while we can. Time to run, take care and God Bless.

Thursday already?

Man the week went fast, tonight is Lori’s big event at work that she’s been feverishly preparing for for what seems like a month! Last night she made it home by 7:30 or so as she was setting up for tonight. I had made dinner and the boys and I played a game of Monopoly. But best of all, today is Aunt Robi’s birthday!

Happy Birthday Robi!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She’s something like 50 something years young. At least she’s younger than me, but only by a couple of years. I’ll bet Scottsdale will be rockin tonight.

Here’s a couple of comments from yesterday,

  1. Robi says:

Gosh sorry to hear about Ty, not so sure you want to sue your minister tho, he knows people in high places – hehe! Again, sorry about Bodie Uncle Tom. If you take back all the Christmas presents that you bought Ali you should have the money for the operation – hehe! Sorry guys I just had a huge donut and I think the sugar got to me! LOL

    Reply

  2. Blondie says:

    HA HA, Robi😀

Ty seems fine but thanks for the concern. Too bad Bode has to have another surgery, but glad Robi’s eating a donut!

Today I need to work some magic, let’s hope I still have it in me. (I’m not worried about it and if I’m not, you shouldn’t, ha ha)

Time to run, hope all’s well, take care, God Bless and watch your top knot!

slept in

It’s 6:31 which is really late for Lori and I. Today around 2:30 the rain is coming and before then it’s the same ol same ol, meaning work and more work. Next week the high will be in the 60’s so if you have not shut off your sprinklers, you’d better get on it as the low could be freezing.

I forgot to mention that on Monday night when the kids were going to basketball practice, our neighbor Roger, whose the minister that baptized the boys, backed into them while they were sitting in the coach’s car waiting to go to practice. Ty had a little headache (super) but seems better now. Unbelievable, maybe we’ll sue.

Guess I’ll run as we’re running so late, hope you all are all, God Bless.

So that’s what it takes

So football is what it takes to get some comments from you all! Here’s two from yesterday,

  1. Robi says:

Thanks for the birthday wishes. My friends gave me a little surprise party, we had a pinata, it was way fun! Yep beware of the Cardinals! Uncle Tom if you are reading this I haven’t forgotten about your Cardinal hat – hehe! Anyone else want some Cardinal gear?

  2. Annette says:

After the game last night I don’t think it is our year. Happy Birthday Robi but no thanks on the Cardinals gear. I think we will be crying a lot this year. Go Giants!!!!!!!!!!!!

That’s what I love about football, it brings people together. In fact, sports in general have so many good qualities that often go unnoticed. They not only unite people in a common goal, (everyone cheering for their team) but they also are one of the few non scripted forms of entertainment we have that bring is up and down in a moments notice. But best of all is that they provide a distraction or momentary relief from all the crazy stuff going on in our lives. I often say the only thing tv is good for is sports and movies. You can just about throw it away other than that. So good luck to the Cardinals and to the San Francisco Baseball Giants and of course, to the Denver Bronco’s! Watch out though for those Kansas City Royals as they seem to be this years cinderella team.

Yesterday Ty had his first basketball practice and Jag had 80’s day at school. Some of the kids dressed up, including Jagger, as he’s on student council. He wore some black pants with combat boots (Lori’s) and one of my Rolling Stone t-shirts from 30 years ago. Throw in a mow-hawk hair doo, and he was all set.

When both boys arrived home, the neighbor kids were all making a giant pile of leaves to run and jump in so I let the boys play outside before homework. After all, kids need some playtime and I’m all for outside physical play instead of video games.

Lori was slammed all day as was I. She has her big Think Pink (breast cancer event) Thursday and I have so much to do it’d take an hour to sort of explain it. Today we both have more of the same.

Rain tomorrow and then sun and mid 70’s back for the weekend. That’s about it, hope it stays nice through Halloween. Take care and God Bless.

Sorry 9er fans

Well the Bronco’s sure look good. Last night Peyton threw for 4 more td passes and now holds the record of 510 touchdown passes in the NFL. That’s pretty darn amazing.

Yesterday before the game we headed down from Vail and then Jagger had his second to last baseball game. He played short stop, outfield and pitched. He’s sure becoming a good player. Meanwhile Lori was putting up Halloween decorations in the front yard and on the house. Hard to believe it’s the 20th of October. 65 days until Christmas!

Outside these days it’s raining leaves as fall is for sure here. It’ll be back in the mid 70’s this week but soon I’m sure the snow will arrive so enjoy it while you can.

Lot’s to do today and I mean lots! Both Lori and I have a busy busy week. The Bronco’s play again Thursday and Lori has a huge Breast Cancer event this week at the office. Jag and Ty both have a few things going on too and then Halloween is a week from Friday.

It’s also Aunt Robi’s birthday this week on the 23rd! Happy Birthday week!

Time to get some coffee and get everyone up and moving. Hope everyone is well and for you 49r fans, at least Seattle lost, it looks like Arizona is who you should worry about!

God Bless

A great day, especially if you’re a kid!

We woke up around 7am which is late for us. Then after taking the big dog for a walk, it was time for breakfast. The 30 degree weather felt good on my face and helped get me moving. Pancakes and bacon were the meal du jour. By the time we took showers (just the adults) it was 9:30 or so. We loaded up and headed for Eagle to go to Costco. About 10 minutes after we started on our journey, I realized I forgot some paperwork so we turned around and headed back to pick it up. By the time we arrived to pick up the papers I needed, the three youngest boys decided they wanted to stay. So Jag, Lori and I took off again for Eagle.

We hit Costco and saw my client and then did some shopping as well. Next up was a stop at my buddy’s gun shop as he was having a 50% off sale as he’s been out with bad orthopedic issues and has back surgery coming up next month and is closing down the shop. After that we headed back to get the kids for lunch.

Next up, after I walked Mojo, was the trip into Vail for lunch at my friends Steve and Elisabetta’s restaurant. Turns out today was their 32nd anniversary. We then headed up town by the gondola to the Pirate Park where the kids played for a good hour. Then it was off to ice cream, yum.

We then headed back to the ranch and Lori took the boys and Mojo for a long long walk. It was so long the boys and Mojo are all limping and sore. Around 6pm we headed out for dinner at another clients restaurant. That was fun and then off to the ranch by about 8:30. Throw in a few hours of electronics after that and a good nights sleep and now we’re off to Denver.

Hope all’s well with everyone. Take care and God Bless and Go Broncos!
