Before I get into the day, WTF is going on with all these people protesting the decision not to charge the police officer in Missouri who shot a criminal who tried to attack him. They had a Grand Jury enquiry with both black and white people who said he was within his rights to use force. But no, the easily manipulated stupid people who are out protesting and destroying businesses, may of them black owned, are nothing more than common criminals. Without knowing all the facts, (and no one does unless they were in the Grand Jury) have decided that this police officer is guilty. This right here should tell you something about mob mentality. It doesn’t matter what’s right or wrong when people are prodded into acting out. How sad this is if you really think about it.
Now onto the day. Lori arrived home around 6:30 with a raging headache and the boys and I were gone most of the day running errands and going to a basketball clinic at Columbine High School in the afternoon which was really good.
This morning we’re loading up the suburban and heading for the hills. It was snowing too hard last night plus we didn’t have all our gear together. The mountains have been getting lots of snow so we should get some good ski and snowboard action in over the next few days. Hopefully no one will break any bones!
More later as we’re running late, take care and God Bless, time to hit the road!
That’s right, sometime between 5 and 6pm tonight, Lori will be off work and begin her much needed, much deserved, 5 days off. Although in theory I too am off, I’m never really, off! Regardless I’m determined to get the misses some much needed rest and relaxation.
Today I’ll be wrapping up the month and working on December to close out the year strong. I think the boys are going to a basketball clinic in the afternoon but am waiting to hear from our neighbor who will drive them.
I’ll be getting the kids and my ski gear together so we can have some fun in the snow over the next few days. I’m not sure how I’m going to get everything in the car but will figure it out. I’m sure some sledding and snowshoeing will also be in the cards. Anyhow more to come, hope you all have big plans for turkey day, take care and God Bless.
Hard to believe, don’t blink or you’ll miss it! Yesterday we dug out our tree from the attic and Lori as usual made our home look like something out of a Hallmark card. I thought we were maybe a bit early but today am thinking we’re late! We were going to go to the football game but I could tell Lori wasn’t really up to it so I sold the tickets and stayed home to help, although I really didn’t do much except watch football. Still it was good to spend the day at home, even though it was the game of the century! Oh well, there’s always the Buffalo game on December 7th.
As you know the boys are off this week. I woke up at 4:30 for a 5am conference call with my guy in New York only to call him and have him ask “didn’t you get my text”? When I said no he told me the meeting had been moved to next week. Oh well, sleep is overrated anyhow.
Today after my 9am conference call I’m going to throw the boys in the truck (not literally of course) and drive up into the hills a bit to get our Christmas tree cutting permits. Up first though will be a trip to the gym and then a stop at the store as we’re out of coffee! I don’t know how this happened as I always buy in bulk meaning about 20 pounds at a time. Trust me, you don’t want to see Lori without her coffee.
Next up will be starting to get stuff together to take the boys skiing this week. Lori works today and tomorrow and then is off until December 1st which is good timing as we all just need a break. A special thanks to Dixie and Don who for Christmas bought our season passes for skiing. Without them we couldn’t really ski much as it’s just too expensive these days ($90 per person per day) and the deadline was yesterday. I could do without it but the boys really want to go and they should as it’s a great sport that they can have fun with their whole life, and of course I just can’t drop them at the curb, so the three of us will be whizzing down the slopes. Lori with her neck surgery is verbotten (that’s German) from the slopes! Good news is we’ll have curbside service as she can drop us off and pick us up each day. Maybe I’ll get her a little chauffeur outfit for Christmas, that’ll go over big! I’m going to try to get them on the slopes 3 days this week at least.
Time to run so I can get to the gym and as I said, get Lori her coffee! Hope everyone is well, take care and God Bless.
Yesterday Lori was on a mission. Part of it was staying so busy she didn’t have time to think about anything else. I moved some wine from the front room for her and next time I looked (like this morning) the downstairs front rooms were spotless!
Jag went to a movie with a friend and her Mom and brother, and Ty went to the trampoline place with Vinny and his parents so we managed to keep the place clean for the day.
Today is the Bronco game and I was going to take some people but am now taking the family so we’re all together. After a few phone calls we found some tickets for my friends so we’re all going after all.
Next up is Monday and Tuesday work for Lori and I and then some skiing and snowboarding for the rest of the week. Hope my knee is all rehabilitated, I’ve been trying to work the legs hard at the gym. Lori will drop us three off each morning and then do her own thing whether snowshoeing or resting or whatever. All in all we’re just looking forward to a break. That’s it, time to run as her comes the wife with my coffee, yea!
Hope everyone is well, take care, God Bless and Go Broncos!
Thank you for your kind words and comfort yesterday with Lori’s dad passing away. It’s important for all of us to remember that although his body is dead, his spirit lives on. Here’s a couple comments,
I’m so sorry about your dad Lori, it makes me cry. Glad you got to see him recently. As much as you hate to see him go, trust me, it is much more painful watching your dad suffer. XO
Lori yesterday when you called him as soon as he knew that was you calling, he just lit up and you made his day. He loved you so much, he is in a good place now, I loved him so much that it hurts, time will pass and we can laugh at his funny stories and his funny humor, he is missed but not ever be forgotten.
I went down to her office around 10am as I sensed something was up. About 45 minutes later at 10:5 MST, Dixie called to say her dad passed away. After dealing with the moment, we decided to go to lunch. We then made it back a little after noon and I hung out until it was time to go get the kids.
Next up was Ty’s basketball game at 8pm and today he has team pictures. Then maybe we’ll get some Christmas decorations up. Cindy our neighbor has insisted on bringing us dinner tonight so that’ll be nice. Time to run so I can hit the gym. Hope all’s well and  let’s all say a prayer for Bob, God Bless.
This morning we were awoken by the phone at 6am as the nursing home had called Dixie saying Bob’s body was shutting down. Dixie is over at the home now with Bob but he’s unresponsive and his hands are cold and clammy according to her. They’re telling us it won’t be too long before he passes. Lori did get to talk to him yesterday and he knew she was on the phone. She tried to talk to him this morning but as I said, he didn’t respond. She also texted his pastor this morning who had asked Lori to keep him informed so he too could pray for him. Please say a prayer for Bob and hope he finds peace, comfort and happiness. We just did asking God to make sure they save a place at a lake in heaven where he can fish and hunt one he arrives. I know God will welcome him with open arms.
I was up all night with a pounding headache and kind of flu like symptoms (stuffy nose, upset stomach) that I think I picked up from Lorenzo (who had a cold), and really didn’t sleep. My head is still pounding but I have too much work to do to try to go get some sleep. Same with Lori at work. Although I don’t like her going in and being alone during the day, she feels she has to go. I think she’ll go in a little late and maybe leave a little early. As they say, life goes on, right?
After today the boys are off until December 1st. Hard to believe it’s almost Christmas. Guess I’ll run now as lots going on here at the house, hope you all are well, take care and God Bless you all and especially God Bless Bob.
Sometimes it’s hard to keep the day straight. The Snow Ball for the U.S. Ski Team was last night and fun for about an hour. I didn’t know but it only lasted 2 hours and we left about 15 minutes before it was officially over. There were lots of the ski team and snowboard team members there. The biggest star there was Mikaela Shiffrin who is the brightest up and coming star of the U.S. Team. I think she’s only 19 but won the first World Cup race of this years season October 25th in Soelden Austria. She’s just a normal girl from Vail that ski’s really really well.
In any case, it was good to go and see our friends but also good to get home. Today Lori is back at the dentist for a cleaning. She also has a cavity and needs a crown, super. After tomorrow the kids are out of school for 9 days! Lots going on at work for both of us with big big pressure between now and the end of the year. Sadly this is nothing new, it just intensifies the closer we get to the end of the year.
Guess I’ll run, hope everyone is well. Big day today, the Pres is going to give 5 million illegals amnesty, a big super on that one! God Bless.
Last night Lorenzo and I were in Colorado Springs for a very successful wine dinner at one of our top restaurants and tonight Lori and I have the Snow Ball benefiting the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Team. Should be fun.
First up though is a trip to the airport at 6am (it’s now 4:43) to put Lorenzo back on a plane to New York, then Lori has a dentist appointment at 9am and the boys of course have school. It’ll be in the high 40’s today which is like summer considering what we’ve had and what a lot of the country has right now. Buffalo New York has over 6 feet of snow!
After today we’ll get a mini break and try to coast, which means normal hard overwhelming days full of work, until next Tuesday evening when the whole family will then be off until the following Monday! So that’s it, time to run as it’s 5:02 and time to slug my coffee and get moving. God Bless. Check this out, nice, good job Mr. President!
Under Obama, U.S. personal freedom ranking slips below France
Americans’ assessments of their personal freedom have significantly declined under President Obama, according to a new study from the Legatum Institute in London, and the United States now ranks below 20 other countries on this measure.
The research shows that citizens of countries including France, Uruguay, and Costa Rica now feel that they enjoy more personal freedom than Americans.
As the Washington Examiner reported this morning, representatives of the Legatum Institute are in the U.S. this week to promote the sixth edition of their Prosperity Index. The index aims to measure aspects of prosperity that typical gross domestic product measurements don’t include, such as entrepreneurship and opportunity, education, and social capital.
The freedom scores are based on polling data from 2013 indicating citizens’ satisfaction with their nation’s handling of civil liberties, freedom of choice, tolerance of ethnic minorities, and tolerance of immigrants. Polling data were provided by Gallup World Poll Service. The index is notable for the way it measures how free people feel, unlike other freedom indices that measure freedom by comparing government policies.
“This is not a good report for Obama,†Legatum Institute spokeswoman Cristina Odone told theWashington Examiner.
In the 2010 report (which relied on data gathered in 2009), the U.S. was ranked ninth in personal freedom, but that ranking has since fallen to 21st, with several countries, including France, Germany and the United Kingdom passing the U.S.
The nation’s overall personal freedom score has declined by 17 percent since 2009, with a 22 percent drop in combined civil liberty and free choice contributing to that decline.
Of the eight categories in the index, personal freedom was America’s second lowest performance relative to other countries. The U.S. had its lowest ranking when it came to safety and security (a broad measure of how threatened citizens feel in instances such as walking late at night, or expressing their opinions) — ranking 31st out of 142 countries.
Yesterday Ty proudly jumped in the car after school with his Report Card. We have a deal around here where the kids get $100 for every 4 which is an A+. Turns out he earned one in writing and communication or something like that, I’ll need to look at the actual title. We don’t count gym or music or art as they’re too easy but this one counts so we owe Ty $100. Didn’t see that one coming! We’d better change that policy now for them once they get out of elementary school as Jagger could break the bank!
Lorenzo made it here fine but is nursing a bad cold as he’s all stuffed up. We’re keeping our distance from him and not even shaking hands as we can’t get sick. Tonight we’re in Colorado Springs and then he’ll be back on a plane to New York tomorrow morning at 8am.
This morning Lori needs to be at work by 8am as the computers are down and she needs to get them up as it’s clinic day today. I need to run across town after dropping the boys at school to pick up some last minute wines at the warehouse. Other than that, same old pressures, mostly bills which I won’t complain about when so many others have health issues or no job or roof over their head at all.
That’s it, time to run as it’s 6am. Take care and God Bless.
Yesterday at 4:30, Lori’s plane landed. I picked her up a little before 5pm and we headed home. Ty and Jag were both with Ben and his Mom at the trampoline place at the mall. Her plane was a little late as someone threw up in the back on he inbound flight and they had to replace the cushions, due to ebola and all. Thankfully she was way up in first class and far away from all the mess. I was going to put her in a 21 day quarantine to have some time off work but we don’t think her work will go for that.
When we arrived home Jag was off to youth group at the church where some kids from school go. Ty was at Ben’s and needed to come home to finish up some homework.
This morning Lorenzo arrives from New York until Wednesday. Tomorrow night we have a wine dinner in Colorado Springs featuring him and his wines. Today Lori will be back at work and Wednesday we have the Snow Ball at night. Oh yeah, Wednesday morning Lori has a 2 1/2 hour dentist appointment as our insurance changes December 1st and we all need to get in before then.
Bob’s hanging in there but is fading, please say a prayer for him. That’s it, time to run, hope you all are well, Thanksgiving is next week, time to start planning out your day and big meal. God Bless
I’m so sorry about your dad Lori, it makes me cry. Glad you got to see him recently. As much as you hate to see him go, trust me, it is much more painful watching your dad suffer. XO
