A Year of Change

This morning we slept in until 7:30, boy that’s late! It’s cool but looks like it’s going to get sunny. Yesterday I made the mad rush to Denver and back, all before noon. Today we’re going to clean up a little and then take a drive to do a little recon to a few camping sites we’ll be heading out to in a few weeks.

Jag and I might go shooting today down at the range. Both boys are studying hard for their last week of school. I saw Ty’s Mandarin teacher yesterday who said he either got an A or A- on his test, good for him.

Lori is well and needs a couple of days off for sure. I took a case of wine up to the hospital yesterday and she was working hard saving people’s lives from pain.

In the morning up here, if you open the sliding door to the deck, you can hear the water rushing in the river. You usually don’t hear it as the river is not normally high enough but with the Spring run off, it’s actually pretty loud. To me, it’s one of those cool, calming sounds of nature that sooths the soul.

This morning I’m rushing down to Denver to pick up some samples and hope to be back up here by noon. Lori might take the afternoon off which would be well deserved. Ty did great on his math project which he designed and built for the Probability Carnival. Don’t ask what that is as it’s pretty involved. He also wrote a great story for another class. It’s always mind blowing to see something your child has done that you didn’t expect they could do.

This weekend it’s supposed to be warm just about everywhere. I think we’re all planning a big bike ride. Only 4 days of school after today as next Friday is Field Day where all the kids compete in teams in fun outdoor games. Then it’s on, summer that is.

I’ll skip politics today except I do have to say one thing. Yesterday the Dems’s started running a 6.5 million ad against Trump that features women in shirts with Trumps face on it quoting various things he has said. Now this is fine to quote the man and use his own words, but at the end you have a lady that says “you can go fuck yourselves” making the viewer believe he’s saying that about women when in fact those words are taken from a debate where he said that directly about China, is just wrong. So once again, here come the democratic elites freaking out and resorting to flat out lies to portray a candidate as someone he’s not. So just for fun, check this out which by the way, is the truth, if you want to see the other candidate lie for 13 minutes straight in her own words!

Today it’ll be warmer than yesterday and tomorrow warmer than today, whoo hoo!

Things are starting to turn green up here at 8000 feet while in the city, the buds have opened and it’s already summer.

Yesterday we all had productive days, at work and at school and here at home. Today more of the same as Jag is constantly studying for finals and Ty is working on a number of different projects. Mom and Ty worked on a math project last night until a bit after 8. Today Dr. C is off to California for 4 days and I have an appointment at 9am and then a conference call at noon. Lots going on. Tomorrow I’m in Denver in the morning and then back up in the afternoon.

Ok, Hillary fans, stop reading now.

On a National level, Trump is leading Hillary! Whoo hoo. Looks like the Donald is coming to his senses and surrounding himself with lots of really qualified people. Yesterday he met with Henry Kissinger who is probably the most qualified living expert on foreign policy. He’s 92 though so don’t expect him to be part of the administration once Trump is elected. Hillary’s negatives finally caught up with her. No matter how you feel about Trump, she’s just much worse.

So here we are at the beginning of another great day. Actually every day is a great day if you think about it, right! So get out there and enjoy the day and God Bless.

They say the sun is on its way. Well it was here yesterday but even more is finally coming. Ty was home sick again yesterday as he still had a fever and was feeling punky. We did manage to go to school to get some work he needs to complete as there are only 7 days left including today.

Now to some politics. I’ll hold off on the name calling although I was cleaning the kitchen and in one of the wife’s birthday cards, someone had made up a disparaging name for one of the candidates, hmmm. Anymore of that and it’s game on! Anyhow looks like Bernie won another one in Oregon and it’s too close to call in Kentucky. Funny that everyone thought the GOP convention was going to be a mess but now it looks like the other way around. I don’t know how Bernie could ever pay for all his proposed programs but at least he’s honest and plays by the rules. They’re really stealing the nomination from him with the Super Delegates and making up rules to benefit the old lady who’s running. Did you hear what she said yesterday? Maybe she’ll make Bill her VP! Give me a break, the guy has alzheimer’s.  Also it has now come out that he dismissed his Secret Service detail a number of times to take 26 flights on a convicted pedophiles plane to his private island nicknamed “orgy island”, nice. Oh and now Bill is saying the same thing Trump is on immigration to try to woo those voters. On another note, turns out Facebook has been censoring conservative posts and the Feds have been illegally planting surveillance cameras and microphones all over San Francisco. I’ll stop now but as they say, you ain’t seen nothing yet. This is going to get nasty.

Today I have conference calls at 9 and noon. Lori made it home about 8pm last night as they had a lot of complicated cases that made the day last much longer than it should have. She’s still sleeping as are the boys but I’ll need to get them up soon. We’re looking forward to the weekend as it’s going to be in the 70’s, maybe the 80’s. I need to get the tires on the bikes pumped up.

That’s the weather up here, a little bit cool (the door is open to the deck letting in the fresh mountain air) with bright blue skies. It’s hard to beat living up here, maybe Hawaii but that’d get old.

Yesterday I was in and out of Denver by 10:30am. Today I have a lot of work to do around here. Ty was sick yesterday with a 99 degree temperature. He has to make it to school today as there are only 8 days left after today. Tuesday means clinic for Lori so she needs to be off early.

This morning we awoke to a foggy mist hovering over the tops of the hills outside the windows. It’s misty but in a way, really beautiful. Yesterday we had some of the same with the morning rain on and off.

Around noon we headed off to Glenwood for a picnic with the group of kids going to college seminars and then the 8 of us in our group went for some mexican food. Jose, who’s in Jagger’s class, knew right where to go for good food. His family owns the largest dairy farm in Mexico and are moving back after the school year. Jose is going to boarding school next year in Boston for high school. A different World up here, trust me.

It’s supposed to rain most of the week but more down in Denver than up here. I have to be at Applejack this morning by 10am for a meeting and then hope to be back up the hill by noon or so. 2 weeks left for the kiddos. We sure could use a 3 or 4 day weekend to catch up on our sleep. Jim’s memorial service is June 5th but that’s a tough weekend for us with Jagger gone and me leaving for Seattle for the week, so we were thinking of going to California for Memorial Day weekend instead. Lori will have to check with Annette first but we could then be there for 3 or 4 days instead of just Lori for a day or two. Annette, Lori will call you to discuss.

Either you’re all a bunch of couch potato’s or no one nobody knows how to comment. I know some of you had to do something as the odds are somebody did. In any case, as usual, we did.

By 7:40, Ty, Lori, Mojo and I were off to Denver. After a quick stop at the bank, we dropped Lori off at the hair salon not knowing she wouldn’t be ready to go until after 2pm! Turns out it was prom last night f0r a bunch of high schools which meant the salons were packed! We then headed over to REI (the outdoor store) for some shopping. Next it was off to a mall for a couple new shirts for Ty and then I dropped him at Vinny’s where he would hang out and play until 3:30. Then I headed back downtown for a few more stops before getting a bite to eat and then picking up Lori. We took Mojo with us, as I said, so he and I periodically took a few walks to let him stretch his legs. I asked Lori if she thought he’d rather be home and she emphatically said no, he’d much rather ride around all day with us in the car. She speaks dog in case you’re wondering. After picking her up we headed over to my Mom’s to take her some lunch and visit for a while before picking up Ty and heading up the hill.

On the way up Ty fell asleep which was good as when we arrived in Vail we needed to grab his stuff and drop him at a birthday party and sleepover. He has quite the busy social schedule. Meanwhile all this time Jag did what 14 year olds do on the weekend, which is sometimes not much. Today we’re off to Glenwood about an hour away for the informational picnic for the entrepreneur seminar he and a few other boys are going to June 5th in Austin. So we’re pretty busy.

Lori is sleeping, also as usual, and Mojo and I are downstairs. Jag, being that teenager I told you about, can easily sleep to 10 or later. Guess he needs it as he grows every day!

While it was cloudy in Denver, it was 73 with blue sky up here. Today it’s a mixture of light clouds and sunshine but better than Denver from what I can see on the news. Guess I’ll run as it’s 7:09 and I could use another cup of coffee. 2 weeks of school left and then it gets crazy. Try to get your butts off the couch today and do something. I know you have it in you, if nothing else, read a book! There’s tons of classics out there everyone has not read, I’m sure of it. God Bless.

For us, it’s a never ending whirlwind. Today Lori, Ty and I are off to Denver for a bunch of stops and then will be back up her by 5-5:30 at the latest to drop Ty at his birthday party/sleepover. Lots of stops before then though. Jag and Mojo will stay home as he has a few things going on with some friends and I took Mojo everywhere with me yesterday. Ty and the entire 6th grade class were in Denver at the Museum of Natural History on a field trip. Jag meanwhile finished all his school work so I picked him up after lunch and he came home to hang out.

It’s a nice morning up here with scattered clouds mixed in with the bright blue sky. We hope to be out of here by 7:30 but I’m going to try to let Lori sleep. Politics is crazy and it kills me to stay away but I promised the misses I’d take a brief sabbatical. But fear not, I shall return as it’s going to get nasty between you know who and you know who, ha ha.

Guess I’ll run, go out and do something today, even if it’s just a walk around your yard, or call a next door neighbor you haven’t talked to for weeks or months. I’m sure all of you have a close friend or neighbor right near you that you haven’t spoken to for far too long. That’s it, GB.

The days turn into weeks, and the weeks turn into months, and the months to years, and that’s called life. It sure goes fast. The funny thing is even if you slow down or stop, time doesn’t. Summer is not even here yet and we’re trying to squeeze things in as it seems Fall is right around the corner! I mean really, what do we have, something like 12 weekends of Summer? Better get busy.

Today Ty has a field trip to the museum in Denver, Lori has work and more work, and Jag and I more of the same. Some of you know I have an employee that went MIA (missing in action) for the past few weeks and has either been in and out of the hospital or who knows where. She had some questionable charges on her company credit card which I shut down and we have only communicated by text. I’ve gone above and beyond to try to help this girl for a couple years now but I’m afraid we’re about at the end of our working relationship. The worst part of the whole thing, besides me having to do ALL her work in Texas, Arizona, Louisiana, and a few other States, is that she’s a good girl that I think just went off the deep end. Oh well, I’ve tried my best to help her, professionally and personally, but you can’t save everyone.

Looks like rain on and off for the next week or so but we’ll take the sunny days when we can get them. Tomorrow we’re in Denver but Ty was just invited to a birthday/sleepover party around 4:30. We’re going to my Mom’s for lunch so it’ll be a rushed packed day to get all our chores done in Denver and then get back up the hill. No worries, we’ll just need to rev up our motors to match the speed of life, we can do it!

Looks like 70’s in Denver and mid 60’s up here. Summer is coming. knowing that, I want to remind everyone to wear sunscreen every day! My Mom just had some basil cell skin cancer taken off her chest. Not sure how often you go to the dermatologist but next time you do, look around the waiting room. There are lots of old people! This is because they never wore sunscreen and over the years, skin cancer, which is a slow growing monster, shows up! So please, wear sunscreen. Also the eye doctor told me to make sure that I and the whole family, wear sunglasses every day when in the sun! He says it’s even more important to follow through on this in Colorado as we’re that much closer to the sun. So while we all love the sun, we need to protect ourselves from it’s harmful UV rays. This is one of those preventable things that there’s no reason not to do. So there.

I’m off to Denver for a 5 minute meeting to meet the new purchasing agent in Colorado. I hate to drive down just for that but my current girl leaves her job tomorrow to move to Arizona and this is my one chance to meet the new guy with her. Having a good relationship with purchasing is critical!

The boys have school, Lori has clinic and I have a bunch of calls. I have two positions open across the Country I need to fill. I’d like to fire my guy in the northeast but I have too many holes right now to deal with him. So he’s saved by circumstances, at least for now. Guess I’ll run, no politics today, (that wasn’t too bad yesterday, hope I didn’t offend anyone) hope all’s well and God Bless.
