A Year of Change

Yesterday afternoon we went to see Fly Me to the Moon. It was a fun, and entertaining good movie. In all, there were six people in our theater including us. Nice. It’s cool up here this morning and should be in the mid 70’s or so today, that’s nice too. I was up at 5:30 at the urging of Harley who wanted her breakfast. If it’s not Lori, it’s Harley.

Jag went and rented a storage unit yesterday for a month so he can move some of his stuff from his current place into there for a few days until he can move into his new place. Think it cost him around $175.

Almost the end of July. It’s still really hot around the Country but should start cooling down in six weeks or so. I had a dream last night that it snowed here in July! Glad it was just a dream.

We bought a hedge trimmer yesterday as some of our bushes are out of control. Lori will probably get on that today. 6:07am now, time to go. Not much else going on here. The Country and World are still a mess politically, nothing changed there. Keep stacking wide and deep. I always pick up a few extra essentials when shopping, be it food at Costco or extra batteries or dishwasher soap at the hardware store. It depends what’s on sale, but I’m always looking for a deal. Never seen anything like this. Those in his own party are trying everything they can do drive him out of the race. So, will Joe stay or will he go. I hope he stays, as it’s fun to sit back and watch the mess the Dems have made for themselves. No one really talks about the fact that the people, meaning the delegates, elected him to run, yet the elites of the Democratic party, seeing he’s now losing to Trump, want to just throw him out. The delegates knew who Joe was and what shape he was in. Everyone is acting like his state of mind all of a sudden happened 3 weeks and 2 days ago at the debate. If he hadn’t done so poorly, they would still be lying, telling all of us how great he is, just like they’ve been doing for 3 years. I mean, what did they think was going to happen? Guess they thought they’d just hide him again, like they did in the basement the first time he was elected. Shows how stupid people were 3 and a half years ago. Also shows how they’ll do anything to hold on to power. This is one for the history books.

I was home by 2 in the afternoon from Denver. Traffic wasn’t too bad. Ava gets home a week from today from New York. Lori bought us some new pillows at Costco yesterday, but they’re all going back today as none of them passed the sleep test. They were all too hard. Looks like my leveling kit should arrive at the dealer Monday meaning I can probably pick up my truck on Tuesday. This is exactly why I didn’t pick it up until it was fixed up. My dealer is in a hurry, and doing all they can do, to get this done. Had I picked it up, they probably wouldn’t be in as much of a hurry.

Lori and I went to see the movie Twisters last night. It was entertaining. Not an Acadamy Award winner, but good entertainment. Looks like the high 70’s, maybe low 80’s up here today. Perfect.

My new company is coming along well. Might be going to Slovenia at the end of the month for a week. One of my close friends and top winemakers wants in. I’ll know more in a week.

Soon Biden will drop out, I think for sure by the weekend. I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s gone by the end of the day. How quickly the Dems are willing to throw him out when he’s now not doing well in the polls. If you really ask yourself, who’s better for the Country, there’s no contest. Time to throw the elites and 40-year politicians out of D.C. How anyone can really think that the status quo in Washington is good for them, is beyond me. At the is point, I’d vote for Donald Duck over any career politician. Say what you want about Trump, but if you’re looking at policies, the guy should win in a landslide.

I’m off to Denver this morning but should be back a little after noon. Looks like a few more days until the new truck is ready. I need to drop some samples for a party tomorrow for a friend who owns STK, Kona Grill and Bennihana. This is a French wine that’s low calorie that will be a great fit for those concepts.

Last night, nine of us got together for our first real cigar night in at least six weeks. James was telling us about all the different cities and countries he was in. Croatia and the walled city of Dubrovnik was his favorite and super cool. Oslo Norway was also great he said. Great to have him back and he was glad to be home, even if only for ten days or so. He has another month of shows here in the U.S. and then four shows in Mexico City the end of September. Then he’s done with the two yearlong World Tour.

Lori is feeling a bit better. She had some tests done earlier in the week and all came back negative. Thank God. We’re hoping for a nice relaxing weekend. Time to get moving. Make it a great day and God Bless.

Turns out now, the Secret Service knew of the threat to President Trump and STILL let him go on stage! This is a JFK moment. They’re now stonewalling and not answering questions, and hoping it’ll just go away. This is a massive cover up and I’m not one for conspiracy theories, but refusing to be transparent, only fuels speculation that all isn’t what it seems. The Secret Service Director has lied and refused to answer direct questions which deserve to be answered. And I’m not talking about answering questions from Fox News, I’m talking about answering questions from lawmakers, on both sides! It’s a national disgrace that this woman who runs the Secret Service has not been fired or resigned. One last question, where are all the Democrats and their outrage over the assassination attempt. Imagine if this happened to Biden instead of Trump.

Meanwhile the Dems are in full on panic mode and trying to spin and change the subject any way they can. This morning you have MSNBC hosts comparing Biden getting Covid yesterday, to President Trump getting shot! Are you kidding me? For 5 days now the Dems have been trying to tell us the assassination attempt was fake or staged by the Republicans. Well, personally I think Biden’s Covid is the only thing fake. Yesterday morning I texted our cigar group that Biden will be gone before the end of the weekend. Then Joe said around noon, if there’s a medical reason, I might bow out, and then last night, he magically comes down with Covid, cancels his speech in Vegas, after a horrendous one earlier, and jets off to Delaware to isolate. Mark my words, he’s toast.

In our World, around 8am I went to the dentist. Then I headed down to Gypsum to have the topper taken off my truck. Rich, at the topper place, is holding it for me until we can put it on my new truck. Then it was back to Edwards to meet Ty and a rep from one of my distributors, so Ty could meet him. Kyle also delivered some of our wine. After that, I headed to the grocery store and then home for some work. Lori was working away in Vail.

James is home and tonight we’ll have our first cigar get together in a good six weeks where we’re all there. Lori is headed to Denver around 10 this morning to go to the dermatologist. I’m headed down tomorrow morning to pick up a couple of old, rare, collectable Colt revolvers. One is from 1979 and super cool. I also hope to pick up my new truck, if they get it all ready.

Ty was home for dinner and Jag is working away. We talked a couple times yesterday. Really nice outside again this morning. Pray for our Country and that the establishment in Washington is thrown out! God Bless.

You look across the Country at the weather and some places are too hot, some have too much rain, and others have not enough. Well, up here, things are just about perfect. During the day, it’s 80 or maybe in the low 90’s tops. At night, it’s nice and cool, and most afternoons, we’ve been getting just enough rain to keep things green and growing. We thought about getting one of the community garden plots this year but didn’t get around to it. Maybe next year.

If you didn’t know better, you could look outside and think it’s early Fall. As everyone knows, Fall is my favorite season. You have football, the leaves and colors changing, hunting season, and it kicks off the holiday season. I’m sure we have plenty more hot days ahead before September.

Lori works in Vail today. I’ll be working from home and getting some things done around the house.

Old Joe is at it again. Lying and talking gibberish. Hang on as we have a good 14 weeks of this crap before November 5th. It’s really unbelievable just how gullible and uninformed anyone who votes for Biden really is. It’s like they’re brainwashed to hate Trump even though his policies will benefit them. They actually vote against things that are good for them! We have zero respect for anyone who votes for more crime, higher inflation, increased taxes and increased government spending and open borders. It makes no sense at all. And yet, some out there, say, “oh but Joe’s a good guy and Trump’s an asshole”. You just can’t make this stuff up. Let me be clear, the Dems favorite talking point these days is Trump is a threat to democracy. Nothing could be further from the truth. Did democracy die when he was President? I guess it did if you think low gas prices, lower crime, closed borders, no wars around the World and more, are a threat to democracy. How anyone can hear the democrats and just take what they say as true, just because they say it, is beyond me. It shows just how stupid they are, enough said. Sorry for the rant. I just can’t believe how people don’t think for themselves.

No new truck today. The dealer needs to get my leveling kit and install it. I told them yesterday, let’s try for Friday. I’m sure they wanted me to buy it today and come back, but no point in that. I still need to run down to Denver to do some paperwork and drop some things off.

Lori is in Edwards today. We’re both up early as it’s 5:30 now.

In the news, the Colorado rep that said “great, now we have sympathy for the devil”, after the shooting, is now apologizing. Guess the higher ups got to him. Of course he doesn’t mean it, none of them do. In fact, the Dems are already back to slamming Trump and now JD Vance, his VP pick. Let’s look at JD. He grew up in poverty, went to Ohio State, then got into Yale Law School where he graduated, wrote a bestselling book that turned into a movie directed by Ron Howard, and joined the marines after 9/11. But the Dems say he’s a threat to democracy and a Trump lacky that will do anything Trump wants. Oh yea, this guy was a never Trumper years ago, but then said years ago, (not last week), he was wrong. Personally, I’d like to have him as a neighbor.

Last night at the Republican convention, Trump looked different, humbler, almost emotional. Maybe he’s changed, after all, he almost died Saturday. Let me tell you from experience, a near death experience changes your outlook on life and the World. I think we’ll see a changed man, for the better.

I hope to be back by 12:30 or 1 at the latest. I’m having my topper on the truck, taken off around 1. Jag’s work is trying to take advantage of him. They’re super rude and want him to work 80 hours a week until August 3rd or quit now. Horrible guys that are trying to guilt and shame him and other interns into working unreasonable hours. I’m sure they do this to take advantage of cheap labor ($20 an hour) so they (the higher ups) can all make more bank. Sad, but reality in the business World. He’s going to suck it up for three more weeks and then move on. Ty is off again today; hope he gets some rest.

Yes, it’s a little cloudy this morning. No there are not any meatballs, but that was close to the name of a popular kid’s movie when the boys were kids. Just popped into my head.

Still looks hot in Denver but not bad again up here. Should be in the 80’s in Denver by mid-week. Lori’s little baby birds are all flying around out front. It’s like they all know her.

Yesterday we were at the house most of the day after going to the gym. Ty has the next two days off and then works Wednesday through Sunday. Lori says he tweaked his back lifting something the wrong way last night at work.

The attempted assassination of President Trump is still reverberating through the political World. As I said yesterday, all the Dems are distancing themselves and now calling for unity, even though less than 5 days ago, Biden said “it’s time to put Trump in the bullseye”. Sorry Joe, too late. Some Dems are even publicly lamenting the fact that the shooter was a poor shot, wishing he had not missed. Wow, just fucking wow.

Today I have to clean out my truck and see if I can get my topper off as I’m getting a new truck tomorrow. I have 45,000 miles on my current truck and this year is the last year you can take a deprecation credit as Biden has taken that away. Our accountant says next year is going to be a mess as Biden is letting a bunch of Trump era tax cuts expire meaning he’s raising our taxes, again! Nice, like the government needs more money. I guess they do if they’re going to keep spending billions of dollars for every EV charging station they make, and spending money on illegals that they think will be Biden voters. It’s really unbelievable how anyone can vote for a democrat, which just means more taxes and more government spending.

Here comes the sun peeking through what look like some rain clouds. I have a few calls this morning, including one with Italy. James last show of the European tour was last night, so they’ll be headed home in the next day or so. They have a month of domestic shows, starting in August and then four shows in Mexico City from September 20th to the 28th, before the two-year tour is all done. I’m sure he’s looking forward to getting home for a couple weeks.

Yesterday afternoon while watching baseball, my phone started blowing up. President Trump had been shot. Instantly I had flashbacks to the assassination of John F Kennedy and the attempted assassination of Ronald Reagan. It was surreal. Not surprising, but surreal.

The rhetoric in the Country, mostly one-sided, has normalized this type of action. For 8 years they tried to prosecute him, ruin him financially, throw him in jail, and do anything else they could do to get rid of him. So, is it really surprising that next, they would try to kill him? I think not.

The day before, Biden compared Trump to Hitler! Dems have been telling the Country Trump is a threat to democracy and life itself. Celebrities and left wing tv personalities have been telling us Trump is the devil, and yes, some have even said he should be killed. Then you have Democratic politicians themselves. One in Colorado posted, after the shooting, and I quote, “The last thing America needed was sympathy for the devil, but here we are”. Unbelievable. Yet now they are all condemning the shooting. You know many of them are quietly wishing he was dead! They should all be ashamed, and I hope they take a good look at themselves today and change the way they talk. They have a responsibility to tone it down. Same on the Republican side, they’re not immune. However, I will say, outside of a few far-right loonies, it’s nothing compared to the coordinated effort by the left to systematically destroy their opponent. Does anyone think Trump would have been prosecuted if he wasn’t running? I think not. God help us.

Questions are many concerning the event itself. How was a rooftop, 130 yards from the President, not cleared and why wasn’t the Secret Service there? There’s a video of a man saying he was pointing at a guy with a rifle on the roof for 2 or 3 minutes, letting the police and Secret Service know he was there. Yet no one checked it out. Is this another JFK mystery? I hope not, yet questions need to be answered.

On social media, Dem operatives were saying, right after the shooting, that it was fake, or it was a bb gun, or get this, that Trump staged the whole thing. That narrative quickly fell apart when people in the crowd were shot and killed. The shooter was apparently a 20-year-old registered republican, who never voted in an election, yet he raised money and donated to progressive and Democratic groups. Think about it, that’s Ty’s age! Frankly it doesn’t matter who or what he did. What matters is the political climate and division in this Country that has been raised so high that something like this can happen. Mark my words, Dems will say he was a republican and say see, even they want Trump gone and the Republicans will say he was a RINO who supported progressive groups trying to eliminate Trump. All I know is you don’t see Republicans burning down cities, physically attacking those that don’t agree with them, and telling the Country and its people, Trump will destroy the World. No one tried to assassinate Obama or Biden, did they? Enough said.

Last, Trump raising his fist after he was shot, surrounded by the Secret Service trying to get him out of there, will go down in history as an iconic moment. The picture itself is historic. If the Dems don’t somehow try to cancel the election or if Trump is not killed, he should win in a landslide. Can’t believe I can even say, “if Trump is not killed”, but obviously it’s a possibility.

Well, onto the day. Up until the point my phone started blowing up, it was a good day. We had Brian out here early fertilizing and spraying for weeds around 8am, before the heat kicked in. We went to the gym and then went to see Ty for breakfast. I cleaned my office and today will finish that up. Lori is still recuperating but getting better. It’s a little smokey from fires across the west, but not too bad this morning. Today we’ll hang around the house and get some more work done. We were talking that in 90 days, it’ll be mid-October, wow.

Yesterday I had Brian come over. He’s one of the two brothers that are our landscapers. The boys went to school with his brother’s kids. Brian changed out some heads on some sprinklers to provide a different spray. Today he’s putting down some fertilizer and weed stuff to help the grass. I had their mowers, who were here earlier in the day, mow down a bunch of the native or wild grass so we have a larger footprint of grass in the front yard. With all the rain we’ve had, things look good. Especially the new aspen trees we put in last fall.

Ty got a promotion and is now the new bar manager and buyer at his restaurant! This is a big deal, and he also gets a raise! He’s been running the front of the house anyhow, as I said last week, but now it’s official. Kudos to him. He has a bad cold this morning and is showering now before he works at 7.

Hot in Denver, not too bad up here. It’ll cool down next week, so they say. It’s a little hazy outside from some fire somewhere. Normal for summer. Could be worse.

Joe’s hanging in there. They say he’s tied or beating Trump! To me, that’s unbelievable. I mean Joe is clearly not even close to being all there. The other has such a foul mouth, that half of the people in the Country can’t seem to get past. That has resulted in half of the people out there, willing to vote for a demented old man, who has clearly lost it, instead of a loudmouth. Talk about insane. What a mess. All I know is the World was safer, we had less crime and murders in America, the economy was better, and we had less drugs and illegals in the Country under Trump. To me, it’s an easy choice. Frankly I have no respect for anyone who would vote for Biden. When I say that, I mean intellectually, not as a person. Man oh man.

Ok, some of you have no clue who Blackberry Smoke is, but if you do, you’ll know what I’m talking about. What an amazing show! These guys have been around for about 25 years and are probably the best rock band, a lot of people don’t know about. Tonight, they’re playing at the Ogden Theater in Denver, and they’re so good, we thought about driving down for another show. The only tickets left though, are general admission, so sadly we’ll pass.

Lori knew a bunch of their music as I play the shit out of it in the truck. Melanie knew a couple songs from the radio, and I think Marty was a virgin. They all loved the show. Thanks to Gerry and Marci, who are big patrons of the Vilar, we had the best seats in the house. The seats are the ones they have for every show, all year long. It’s basically a box with four comfortable chairs, tons of leg room, and no more than ten feet from the band on stage. That makes it even better.

The opening band, Cousin Curtis, which was two guys, was also great. Blackberry smoke played a good two hours and was right up there with the Stones, in their own way. Marty and Melanie lucked out as James and Addy were supposed with us, but the show was rescheduled from March 28th to last night as the drummer passed away in early March. Great time, Rock On!

In other news, they’re still trying to get rid of Old Joe. But like a stubborn old man, he doesn’t want to seem to go. I think they’ll eventually kick him to the curb, but what a mess things are right now for the Dems. I think they’ll try to slide in Kamala, but she is even worse. All you can say is, wow!

Beautiful morning up here. It’s going to be super-hot in Denver the next three days. Our a/c guy, Oscar, showed up and switched out a capacitor for no charge and we’re back up and running, just in the nick of time.

Ty works today and so does Jag. I was running down to Denver but think I’ll wait until Tuesday when I get the oil changed on the truck. That’s it for today, have a great weekend, and God Bless.
