A Year of Change

Man, it’s hard to beat the West. When I say the West, I mean the Rocky Mountains. You can easily transport yourself back to a time 150 years ago, without much effort. Big city life is over for us.

I am making a quick run down the hill this morning but should be back before noon. Yesterday Jagger woke up to his passenger side window being smashed with a rock, and his car, ransacked. They stole his sunglasses and messed up his car and broke the window. Have to love the city, right? What a pain for him.

Ty worked late as Hovey is doing a Hawaiian theme luau on Sunday nights for the next month or so. Lori and I hung out at the house most of the day after going to the gym.

Almost 6am so time to go. I should be on the road in 30 minutes or so. No politics today, but things are not getting any better. I hope everyone sees this and prepares for the unknown. Not much else to say there. If you can’t see where we are and what’s coming by now, not much I say will help. Take care, be safe and God Bless.

Well, we’re halfway through 2024, surreal if you think about it. Won’t be long now until the leaves are falling.

Cooler this morning, nice. Going to be a fast week with the holiday. Lots to do to get ready to go. A week from today, we’ll be in Madrid, fun.

They’re pushing the vid vaccine again. Can’t believe they think people will line up for it again. Even if it worked, they botched it so bad, people are probably not going to get it. Even the flu shot is way down. We haven’t got that for years now, as no one trusts the government anymore. Not shocking. I miss the 60’s and 70’s.

We’ll be hanging around the house today. Yesterday we were out by 9:30am and ran errands until probably 1:30. Think we had five stops in total.

Last night Lori and I went to see the new Kevin Costner western. It’s called Horizon and comes in a number of parts. Part 1 was three hours long. I think Part 2 comes out in August. There are a number of different stories within the movie. I’m not going to give anything away as I know Robi and Bobby are going to see it tonight. We loved it. Much better than sitting in the rain at the symphony to me.

Looks like about 75 degrees again today which is perfect. We need to run into the village as a skirt that Lori wanted came in at our friend’s store. Luca owns Luca Bruno and brings in a lot of cool Italian and European stuff. He always gives us a deal of course. He has this one brand that is made for travel and is super comfy, easy to wash and dries in no time at all. I even grabbed a pair of pants and a couple shirts for me. Lori also has a t-shirt dress that came in at another place in Edwards. They brought it over from the Aspen store for her. All the boutique stores up here are owned by people we’ve known forever. Most by parents of kids that went to school with the boys or close friends. Another benefit of living in a small town.

Biden says he’s staying in. Or should I say someone told Biden he’s staying in. Poor man doesn’t even know where he is half the time. I think it’s a Trump victory for sure if he’s the nominee. Can’t make this stuff up. This is sure one for the history books.

It was a long day in Denver, a good day, but a long day. We made it down around 9:45am and left around 4. With traffic and rain, this put us home around 6:30. Just in time for the train wreck that was the debate. Last night and this morning, the knives are out for Joe Biden. Every democratic talking head is saying how horrible he was and that he needs to step aside as democracy is at stake, bwaaahh. I actually felt sorry for Joe. You could tell he was drugged up. He gained 20 pounds or so in a week, most likely from steroids, and had so much botox, his face, when he had a facial expression, would only move on the sides. Some think he had an earpiece in as he kept playing with his right ear. It was, and has been, flat out elder abuse. His wife is most to blame. Ask yourself, if he was your dad, would you have let him go out there? I sure wouldn’t.

Now let’s look at what’s different this morning. It’s not that all of a sudden, all these pundits and experts, saw Joe’s dementia for the first-time last night, (like they’re acting), no, it’s because all of America saw it. Ask yourself why none of these people didn’t speak up before. They didn’t speak up as they thought they could just pull a 2020 basement strategy and hide Joe from all of us and win again. Up until a minute before the debate, they were all telling us how sharp and together Joe is. If they truly just found out, how much he’s lost it, from that debate, that should tell you right there to never ever listen to any of them again.

Now that the cat is out of the bag, all you’ll hear them say is things like Trump lied for 90 minutes, democracy and freedom are at stake and on and on. They’re scrambling and in full on panic mode and will replace Joe. Watch for some gracious exit for him soon, probably within 2 weeks.

From Trumps standpoint, the economy was better under him, we weren’t in a war, China and Russia were held in check, Nato countries did pay their fair share, and more. We’ll see where it goes from here, but again, it’s hilarious watching all these Dems act as if last night, all of a sudden, in a single moment, Joe lost it. Give me a break.

Good rain last night. We’re supposed to get more this afternoon and this evening. Wish we hadn’t said we’d go to the symphony. Right now, we’re headed to the gym. Hope all’s well, get ready for a rocky 125 days or so until the election. God Bless.

This morning around 5am, we had a 2 minute thunderstorm. Anything to cool things down is good. It’s really green up here with the rain we’ve had this year. Better than smoke and fires! Hold on, here comes another round of rain, nice.

Today we’re in Denver. We were going to take two cars as Lori is getting her hair done at 1 or so, but I don’t want the Porsche to get hailed on if there are more storms. Around noon we have an appointment with our lawyer to sign our trust and other docs you need to have in place when you get older. The main purpose is to make sure the govt. doesn’t tax you or your family even more than they already do, should something happen to you.

Ty works again and is working a private party tonight at the restaurant. Good for him. Ava comes home next week for the long weekend. Only another 4 weeks or so for her in New York.

Looks like we’re going to the symphony tomorrow night. I’d rather go see the new Kevin Costner western at the movies, but it is what it is.

Election Day across the Country had some promising results. One of the so-called Squad members lost big time in New York, two Dems in Colorado who pushed an overreaching firearm ban both lost, and the Democratic endorsed, propped up Republicans lost as well. Kind of crappy that Dems spend money promoting certain Republicans that they think will be easier to beat down the road. Thankfully the voters didn’t fall for it. Hopefully this is all a good sign of things to come this November. Time for Bozo and the Dems to go.

Nice outside. We’re cooling down the house now. Lori is in Frisco today, so it’ll be a long one. Really hot in Denver today, probably in the mid to high 80’s up here. 48 degrees outside right now.

The Dems latest ploy is to have the Surgeon General claim all guns need to go as it’s a disease. Facts show semi auto rifles are not the choice of the majority of mentally ill shooters. The real problem, which should be addressed, is the mental illness these people have. The crazy L G B T Q shooter in Nashville’s manifesto was released and the Feds are trying to prosecute those who released it as it shows how mentally ill, liberal and far left, she was. In fact, over 90% of recent shooters (last 10 years) are some sort of L G B T Q person, and a Democrat, hmmm. Again, do not believe anything you see on the news.

Ten days until we’re off to Spain. We’re looking forward to it. Friday we’re going to the symphony with Gerry and Marci. They have front row season tickets. Guess it’s Broadway show tunes which Lori loves. Personally not my fave, but a little culture these days is good for the soul. It’ll be a nice distraction. Tomorrow Lori is getting her hair done in Denver, so I’ll probably drive her down.

Man, it was 100 degrees in Denver a bit after 10am yesterday. I was back in the mountains and in 85 degree temps by about 1 in the afternoon. Looks hot for the foreseeable future.

Ty works today and Lori is in Vail and Frisco tomorrow. I have the garage doors open right now to cool down the garage. It’s also election day today for the primary election. If you don’t vote, don’t complain!

Quick trip this morning. Picking up my golf clubs and a quick stop to see Shultz.

Ty worked a few hours yesterday and a buddy of mine, whose son went to school with Ty, happen to come into the restaurant. I haven’t seen Travis (my friend) in months if not a year, but upon seeing Ty and learning he was headed down to Boulder today for a party, Travis tipped Ty a hundred-dollar bill and told him to go have fun. This always happens to Ty! He’s such a nice guy, every day, to everyone, no matter what. He just brightens people’s days. Super proud of him.

Lori works in Vail today. Yesterday we skipped the farmers market and went to Home Depot instead. Then we hung around the house for the day. It was a nice easy Sunday.

Mornings are good. That means you made it through another day. They’re also a fresh start which we all get every 24 hours. That’s why every morning is a good morning!

We went to the Village yesterday and did a little shopping and stopped to see some friends. On the way home we hit a couple other small stores in Edwards where Lori found a couple things for our trip. Ty was off today but is working today until around 1 or so as the only other fulltime employee, Andy, abruptly quit two days ago. When I say fulltime, I mean someone who can do everything in the restaurant from opening, to covering the register to making coffee to running the floor. He also is the resident bartender. He came up with this killer drink Jagger named The Sunburn. Molly the owner, calls it a Tie Me Up, or Ty Me Up, ha. He’s also now one of only two in the full tip pool, meaning he’ll make even more money. Employees get their share of tips depending on what all they can do in the restaurant. They have to pass a series of tests on each facet of the job to make the full tip pool. He worked from 7am until 6:30pm yesterday. Good for him. He’s sort of the de facto manager now. Most of the other kids there are high school students or others with little experience. We’ll stop and see him after the gym.

We’re going to head into the Village for the Farmer’s Market later this morning. Vail has one of the best markets in the State. The other is Aspen. There must be well over 100 vendors, and it’s just not food. You can get everything from unique clothes to custom made cutlery, and just about anything else handmade you could think of.

Marty has shingles and leaves for Beverly Hills today for a weeklong real estate conference. Poor guy. Not sure how you get it, but no fun.

Meanwhile, it’s nice and cool at night and beautiful in the morning, just the way we like it. Good rain this year too so our backyard is booming.

I did get both cars washed yesterday. We always take Lori’s car to the Village as it’s easier to park than the truck. That gave me the chance to wash it.

100 million people, or a third of the Country, are under a heat alert. Hard to beat where we live. The only thing that’d make it better was if we had a river or lake out the back door. Colorado is perfect except for the political makeup in Denver and the California transplants. We needed to build a wall around the State about ten years ago. We’re in the top ten of States that people are leaving, hard to believe. Says a lot.

I’m in Denver tomorrow picking up my golf clubs and Lori is working in Vail. Last week of June, time flies. I’m meeting up with Shultz to finalize some plans for Madrid.

After a big time rainstorm last night, the sun is out, and the sky is blue. It’s nice and cool right now, probably 45 degrees outside. We leave our windows open at night and open the door in the morning which cools the house down for the whole day. Should be a perfect weekend.

We slept better last night as after getting home late the night before, and only getting 5 hours of so so sleep, we were both dragging yesterday. Last night I think we slept 8 or 9 hours.

Ty works today and tomorrow is in Boulder for a birthday party. Jag was watching some lecture when we talked last night around 6. Not sure what he’s doing this weekend.

At the mailbox yesterday, a big box came from AEG, which is the Rolling Stones promoter. In it were six really cool big boxes of merch with things like a flask, wireless charger, notebook, pen, keychains, luggage tags, insulated mugs, and a bunch of other stuff all from the tour. I wasn’t sure how we got them so when I looked at my Rolling Stones account, it showed six sets of VIP Merch at no charge with free shipping. It’s all really cool useful stuff. I gave Ty a box, have one for Jag and we’ll keep the others. Really fun stuff and a nice surprise as you can’t buy this stuff anywhere as I looked. Depending on their European Tour schedule next year, maybe we’ll catch a show in Wembly Stadium in London if it coincides with our graduation trip when Jag’s out of school. They’re supposed to play their last two shows of the tour there, which just could be the last two Stones shows of all time.

Two weeks from today we’re off to Spain, can’t wait. We have some things to do before we go and it’s coming up fast.
