Getting it done

I made it to Denver by 8:15, ran my errands and was out by 12:30. I was stuck in construction for a bit but made it to Vail around 3:15, then home by 4ish. Joey, our appliance guy, showed up around 5. The control board on our fridge is out and so is the element on our clothes dryer. He was going to check with the distributor in Denver last night to see if they had a new board for the fridge. If so, I was going to drive back down to Denver early this morning to pick it up. Thankfully, he had one in inventory at his house and will be here between 10 and 12 to get the fridge back up and running. The dryer will take a week or so, ugh. Luckily, we have another dryer in the laundry room.

I had lunch with Jagger yesterday. We had fun, as it’s always great to spend time with either of the boys. They’re sure grown up and are actually both young men if you think about it. We’re really proud of them. Hope Jag and Ava come up tomorrow for the holiday weekend. It’s Octoberfest in Vail.

Marty, Davy and I need to run out to Sylvan State Park Ranger station this morning, to swap out our hunting licenses. We’re changing units and need to do this today as the bow hunting season starts Tuesday. I tried to swap them yesterday in Denver, but both of the guys need to be there to sign.

Think I’ll throw a pork shoulder in the smoker tomorrow. We can eat off one of those for a good week or ten days. Big news is tonight is the CU Buffs home opener. Can’t wait, kickoff is at 6 tonight. Tom and I and Jag are all excited.

That’s it, nice and cool up here, about 80 today. We’ve had good rain which really helped with the fires and smoke. Have a great day and holiday weekend, God Bless.

Denver

Off to Big D at 6:30 this morning. Yesterday was quite the day. First the dryer in the master bedroom’s heating element went out and then the fridge stopped working. I took the groceries down to the neighbors and cleaned out the rest of the fridge. Thankfully the freezer kept working. Our repair guy was going to try to stop by on the way home but must have got hung up. He’ll be by today between 3 and 5.

I need to drop the truck at 8;30 and then run by the DOW, (Dept. of Wildlife), then go to the distributor for some samples, next up is a haircut and then meet up with Shultz. Hopefully I’ll be back by 3.

Ty works today and then tomorrow the holiday weekend starts. Time to run now as I need to get moving, God Bless.

Toughing it out

My back is steadily getting better. I’m working out with my trainer at 7 trying to strengthen it some more. Ty’s off today and I told him we could go down to the range and he could use my driver. His is in for repair after he broke it a month or so ago.

Things went well at the dentist. Jag has another appointment on the 17th of September to finish it up. Our dentist was glad he came up as he said the guy in Denver was out of his mind with what he wanted to do. Funny thing is that Ryan’s office (our dentist) was the ones that referred us to the guy in Denver. To be fair, the guy Jag saw, wasn’t the actual guy they referred us to. Anyhow, he’s getting all fixed up now.

Lori works in Vail today while I have some more calls and computer work. Nice and cool up here with colors changing. It snowed up northwest of Bozeman a few days ago! The forecast says we should have less snow this winter than normal, hope they’re right. The northeast is supposed to be much colder with heavier snow. The southwest much warmer than normal. We’re right on the edge, if you believe the forecast.

Think the element in our dryer in the bedroom went out. I need to call Joey, our repairman, today. Jag took off last night around 7:30 to head home. Great to see him. He and Ava might come up for the holiday weekend. I told him we’d make dinner reservations if they do and go somewhere fun.

That’s it, time to go. Have a great day and God Bless.

Fall

Well, I think it’s here, Fall that is. Not sure we’ll see any more 90 plus degree days. It was nice last night, and we had some good rain yesterday morning. Jag made it up last night and will drive down after his 3:20 dentist appointment. I’m going to take Ryan (our dentist) some wine, for squeezing him in. Ty is off today.

My back is almost better. Think I’ll try to go to the gym this morning before my calls start at 9am. 6:30 now. Lori works in Vail today. I ran up valley a couple of times yesterday as Ty needed some things to go golfing. Most of my day was spent on the phone. It’ll be the same today.

That’s it, time to get moving. Have a great day, God Bless.

Last week

A week from today is September 1st! Then the last third of the year begins. Yesterday while getting ready to go to the gym, I bent over and pop, my back went out. I hate it as it takes one second to go out and a good week to get better. Then when your back goes out, the rest of you tries to compensate and it too is sore or out of whack. Good news is, my left side, that was sort of out for a good week, is now back to normal. It seemed to fix itself when the rest of my back went pop. Fun times, as it radiates all the way up into your head. I’ll get over it though, just a small setback, but it does suck.

Ty works at 7, I have a call at 10 and Lori works in Vail today. Jag is coming up tomorrow as you know, for his dentist appointment. I have a couple packages to pick up at the post office today.

Had some good rain yesterday. We had a Ranger sitting in his truck at the park watching for any lightening that might have accompanied the rain. Luckily, no new fires.

Lori and I watched F1 with Brad Pitt yesterday afternoon. We saw it at the movies when it came out but watched it again as it was good, and we were just hanging out.

I have two of my guys at Burning Man all week. They go every year. You couldn’t pay me to go, but to each their own. I have a lot of phone calls this week. Lots of good things happening.

Time to go and see if I can make it through a shower with my back. The hot water seemed to help yesterday. Have a great last Monday of August. God Bless.

Opening Day

Vail Resorts just said the ski mountain will open November 14th. Breckenridge opens November 7th and Keystone mid-October, what? How do they know? Seems way too early for me.

Yesterday after the gym, we had breakfast with Ty, then stopped at the post office, the gun shop and then made it home just in time for the Broncos game at 11am. We looked good. Hope we have a great year.

Ty is off today, and I think he’s golfing. He does need to clean his room. I’m taking a break from lifting weights and just doing the treadmill for a while. I did 4.6 miles yesterday in 70 minutes. Hope to get 3 miles in today. Of course, you get extra steps during the day, that’s just at the gym.

Cooler this morning and again tomorrow. Jag and Ava went and picked up one of my acoustic guitars yesterday and he’ll bring it up Tuesday when he comes up for his dentist appointment. I had him get a humidifier for it as it’s an expensive guitar and I don’t want it drying out again.

Not much else going on. 7:45 now which is late for us, but it’s a Sunday and we’re not on any time schedule. Have a great day, God Bless.

Relief

Not sure how much rain we had last night (doesn’t seem like a lot) but it’s a lot less smokey outside this morning. When the rain started yesterday afternoon, it was accompanied by lightening, which is never good. Think the next week or so there’s some moisture every day with Monday being the heaviest. Hopefully it’ll slow down or put out some of the fires.

We slept in until about 6:15 and Ty was leaving for work as soon as we woke up. We’ll hit the gym this morning and then the Broncos are on at 11. I ran to Dillon yesterday and picked up some stuff at the hardware store and grocery store. Then I stopped at the hospital in Vail for some prescriptions and dropped some clothes at the dry cleaners.

I’ve had a sinus or smoke headache for 3 or 4 days now. Hoping to kick it today. I’ve been stuffed up, probably allergies. I always tell Lori; I never had allergies until I met her!

7am now, that’s about it. Have a great day, stay safe and time to get ready for Fall. The colors up high are already starting to change! God Bless.

Cooling down

Yesterday was hot, especially in Denver. It was 101 when we left town. Up here it was in the low 90’s. This morning, I think it’s around 70, nice.

We had a busy day in town that started with a stop at the grocery store, then the dermatologist, and finally the mall before heading over to Jag’s apartment to drop some stuff off and grab a sandwich and some ice cream. We headed out of town around 2. Traffic wasn’t bad once I made it to 6th Avenue.

I forgot to go to the guitar shop in Arvada and pick up my guitar, ugh. Jag might get it for me as he’s up here Tuesday for a dentist appointment at 4 in the afternoon. I think he needs a crown.

Ty left around 6 this morning. He golfed after work yesterday and works again tomorrow. I’m going to clean some more stuff up today around the house. Not sure what else we’re doing today or tonight. The guys had cigars last night at Ben’s, but five of us couldn’t make it or were out of town.

That’s it, time to get ready to head out to the gym. Have a great Friday, won’t be long until September! God Bless.

National Seniors Day

Well, who knew there was a day dedicated to those of us over 65 years old. Guess Robi, Bobby, Annette, Jean and I should celebrate. Tom, you have to wait until next year, bwaaaah.

Yesterday it was smokey. The Derby Fire has blown up to about 1800 acres as of last night with zero containment. They’re evacuating up near Sweetwater where James’s ranch is. Matt at the gun shop, who lives up there, said he thinks James’s place is ok, for now. I have my garage doors open right now to cool it down in there. It’ll be in the mid 90’s today and I have the garage down to about 70.

Lori and I are out of here around 7:30. We’ll see Jag after going to the dermatologist and the mall. Jag had dinner with my friend last night who sold his wealth management company for beaucoup bucks. Jag might be getting an offer from them soon. Hopefully Jag is picking between multiple offers. John was the President of Rolling Hills Country Club back in the day. He’s also good friends with the Coors family. You might remember, he was close friends with our buddy Eric Shirley, who sadly took his own life a few years ago. Eric’s dad was the CFO for Microsoft. We still miss Eric a bunch.

Ty works today at 9. Yesterday I wrapped up our internal sales plan for the company owned brands. Once the team does their part, we’ll incorporate the data into the sales plans for the Producers. Luisa and I mapped out the details of our Italy trip yesterday too. Lots of moving around but should be a good time.

6:20am now and my battery is about to die on the computer so time to go. Have a great Thursday and God Bless.

More fire

Across the highway, probably about 20 miles or so away, we have a new fire. It started as a 50-acre fire yesterday morning but was 250 acres by 9pm. Check it out,

It’s in rough terrain so it’ll be difficult to put out. It’s still burning away this morning. Fires look way more impressive at night as you can see the flames.

I have calls starting at 9. Should be done sometime this afternoon. I ended up not going to Denver yesterday as Jagger was at an energy conference. Thankfully we talked as I was just getting on the road. We’ll see him tomorrow. Lori is working from home today as Dr. B leaves for a conference sometime today.

I made a bit more progress on cleaning things up yesterday. Hope to get a little bit more done today. A little each day will get you where you want to go.

Ty works at 8 and is getting ready right now. It’s 7am now. That’s it for today, have a great day and drink lots of water, God Bless.
