FOOTBALL!

Tonight the season kicks off. To many of us, this means, Fall is officially here. Whoo hoo.

Today I have three conference calls and then need to get the truck ready to take off tomorrow for Oklahoma. We hope to leave by 5 am so we can get through Denver before the rush hour traffic. I still might head down through Fairplay and Pueblo and skip Denver all together.

My meeting with the guys in Texas went well. It was over by 10:30 my time. Glad I did it by Zoom instead of flying down there for the 2 and a half hours.

It’s cool outside this morning. Feels good.

More shootings in Denver yesterday. What the hell is going on. You have to be on the lookout every single moment these days. So sad, I miss the 1970’s. Everyone got along and things were so much better. Nowadays, it seems that some people have zero respect for other people. This means, in some cases, they’ll kill you without hesitation. Don’t be a victim! A sign of the times is when talking to people, the common sign off is “be safe out there”. This is from people you call that you don’t even know, like people from businesses on the other side of the Country. Tells you what state the Country is in these days and how people are feeling. Sad.

6:11am. Time to get moving. Ty will be here Friday and Saturday night with Harley. Jag and Ava are coming up the weekend after this one so we can go fly fishing. Have a great day, stay safe and God Bless.

Congrats Tom!

Good news, Tom got his house! He had to stand firm on a few things but the seller and his realtor both kicked in and the house he wanted, is now his. We’re both super happy for him. While moving is a pain, getting into a new house is fun. On top of that, of course, is closing one chapter of his life and starting another. Congratulations little brother!

Lori and I made it back from Denver around 6pm. Traffic wasn’t too bad once we made it out of Denver. 48 hours from now we’ll be back on the road. Not looking forward to the drive but am looking forward to the trip. It’ll be good closure for Lori. Ty will be staying here with Harley.

I have my Zoom call sometime this morning. Not quite sure when as Josh hasn’t texted or called yet. I’d better jump in the shower as Texas is an hour ahead of us here in Colorado. Lori is running into the office today for a couple hours. Not sure what she has going on.

Starting to cool down up here, nice. Time to get going, make it a great day and stay safe out there, God Bless.

Hold on

Here we go, September is now in full swing. We’ve even had snow in September in the past, although I don’t see it happening this year, thankfully. As I think I mentioned the other day, I’m skipping flying to Austin today. I’ll jump on Zoom tomorrow for the meeting.

Today we have some errands to run and things to get done before heading out Friday morning. Ty’s buddies had a blast hanging out with him and headed home last night. They’ve known each other since 3rd grade. He was really glad to see them. Ty is getting tired of the restaurant business and trying to decide what he wants to do with the next chapter of his life. Good for him, as he’s looking for his path. All part of the process.

Marty is back to the doctor today and tomorrow. He’s sort of bummed he’s not right back to 100% normal, but this was a big thing and is going to take some time to get over. James is home and done until the last four shows of the 2-year tour in Mexico City starting on the 20th of this month.

Do you believe in God? Hope so. Do you think he looks out for you? He does. Here’s some divine intervention. Marty, James and I were going to be moose hunting in Alaska right about now, but the timing just didn’t work out this year with the tour schedule. Well, yesterday I texted Cary, our buddy and guide in Alaska about 2025 and his son texted me back. He said, I don’t know how to say this, but my dad was killed in a plane crash 2 days ago flying out to moose camp! I was, and still am, in shock. Cary was known as one of the best pilots in all of Alaska and even retrofitted his plane for the terrain, which other pilots copied. I don’t know the details, such as whether something happened like a bird hitting the plane or some freak accident, but I do know Cary was an expert pilot who had flown hundreds of trips a year in the bush for over two decades. So sad. The surreal thing is the three of us, were going to be there, right now, and could have been on that plane! Things happen for a reason, and really, you only have so much control over your life. God Bless Cary and his family, especially his son Casey.

Oh, there was a shooting in Glenwood yesterday! It was outside of the store, Marshalls. Don’t have all the details but it was someone with warrants who shot at police, and they killed him. It’s getting dangerous everywhere.

Rollie’s memorial in Denver is tomorrow morning with the burial and party in Aspen tomorrow night. I guess there’s a party Thursday and Friday nights too. We’ll see if we can make it to Aspen tomorrow night, but I have to do that Zoom meeting with everyone in Texas.

Well, that’s it, life goes on. Live each day! Nice up here this morning. Probably in the mid 40’s. Time to get moving. Have a great day, God Bless.

Last Day of Summer

They say today is the official last day of summer. Things will start coming fast now. Before we know it, September will be gone and Halloween on the way. Costco has the Christmas stuff out, and we’re making Thanksgiving plans now. Hope it’s a late Fall with the snow holding off until December.

This afternoon, Lori, Davey, his two little kids, River and Wes, and I are going to the neighborhood Oktoberfest party at the park. They have parties often and we’ve never gone, so I called Davey (Abby is out of town) and said let’s go. Guess we’ll meet some neighbors.

Lori and I have been sort of nauseous for a couple days. Must have been something we ate. Hopefully we’ll be all better by Friday when we hit the road.

Jag and Ava headed home around 9:30 last night to avoid the traffic. Ty along with Scott and Jude and Madi made it home around 10:30. Scott and Jude drove up from Denver to spend the night and hang out today.

We found out yesterday that a longtime friend of ours, Rollie, passed away on Saturday. She’s been battling cancer for years, so it was expected. Still though, it’s sad when anyone you know passes. She truly is in a better place though. People often say that, but in this case, it is true. RIP.

Not sure what we’ll do today. Good thing is I know we won’t be driving to Denver, which they say will take hours and hours, with everyone headed back to the city. Have a great last day of the holiday weekend and God Bless.

September!

Yesterday they released Marty from the hospital. It took them 4 hours to get from Lakewood to Silverthorne due to the traffic! This is normally a 45-minute drive. Good news is he is now home resting.

We didn’t do a whole lot yesterday. Pretty much hung out around the house. I went to Costco and made a few other stops and that was it.

During the day, we did take Dixie and Don’s remains and prepared them for the trip to Oklahoma and to be buried at their plot. They wanted to be mixed together for eternity so that’s what we did. Dixie left detailed instructions including what all to put in the box with her and Don and where she was to be laid to rest. I guess the cemetery looks like something out of an old western movie. Sort of abandoned with tumbleweeds and a lot of dust and wind. That’s Oklahoma! Nobody really maintains it anymore and we had to hire someone to dig the hole as the dirt in Oklahoma is like concrete. We’re not having a formal service, just gathering there to put her (and Don) in the ground. I think there will be around 20 people that we’ll take to dinner afterwards. Long drive there and back, but it was what she wanted, so off to Oklahoma we’ll go. We leave next Friday and will be back Sunday.

Jag and Ava went to Oktoberfest up at Beaver Creek yesterday while Ty worked. Not sure if they’re going home today or tomorrow. Traffic would be better today for sure. They were out late as we went to bed around 10, and they weren’t home yet.

6:15 now. That’s it, enjoy the day, take care and stay safe. God Bless.

The Weekend

Jag and Ava made it up around 5 last night. I was with Mark having a cigar and surprised they made it home that quick. I guess traffic was bad until they passed Idaho Springs and then broke up. Good to see them.

We thought Lori was negative yesterday morning, but a test in the afternoon still showed a faint line saying positive. Hence, last night I slept in Ty’s room. That’s a week now since I’ve slept in my own freaking bed. It’s getting old. Hopefully she’ll be negative today.

I’m supposed to go to Austin Texas Tuesday for a quick meeting Wednesday am. I think I’ll attend by Zoom, as I’m just not up for it. We’ll see. We do have two other guys that’ll be there in person.

We leave next Friday for Oklahoma for Dix’s Okie Service, which is a week from today. Of course, Lori needs to be all better before I drive to Oklahoma with her in the truck.

Nice and cool out this morning. Ty works at 8. Guess I’ll go to the gym. Have a great holiday weekend and God Bless.

Coming to a Neighborhood Near you!

Good game last night! North Dakota State is a good team and it wasn’t an easy win, but we’ll take it. There’s a reason those guys have 9 National Championships.

Jag and Ava didn’t get to go as you have to draw as a student and they didn’t get picked for the first game. Ty was home until around 9 or so when he went to get Madi from work.

Meanwhile Marty is fighting his infection. He has sepsis which isn’t good, and we were really concerned for a while yesterday. They took him in for another CT scan to see why the antibiotics were not working as well as they had hoped, and thankfully, they found nothing new. They say he just needs to stay on antibiotics and let them work. Hope he turns the corner soon. I guess with an abscess that almost always leaks some poison, sepsis is common. But still, you do not want that! Especially when you’re a type 1 diabetic, which Marty is. Say a prayer that he’ll start getting better. I was going down today but Melanie said he wasn’t up for visitors. Maybe over the weekend I’ll go down.

Nice and cool up here. It was 38 degrees at Copper Mt. the other day when I went to Denver. Think that was Wednesday.

Denver made the national news! We have Venezuelan gangs taking over apartment buildings in Aurora. They also stole a car in Douglas County and 7 members robbed a jewelry store in a smash and grab robbery. The worst thing is they are so brazen, that they don’t even wear masks. They commit these crimes in broad daylight with firearms and no fear of getting caught or prosecuted. In California, yesterday they tried to steal a school bus! I think we need to give the Democrats a big thank you for letting all these so called (their words) newcomers in. The Dems should have them all over for dinner, or better yet, let them move into their homes. You know, introduce their daughters to them, and maybe let a few marry into their family.

Our friends Jeff and Tina, who live in a nice area in a nice house near Cherry Creek, had a man looking through their windows and then walked to the side of their house and peed on it. They saw all this on their Ring Doorbell camera, so she thought she’d post it to warn other neighbors. Unbelievably she received a number of negative posts, like “the guy was probably just homeless, maybe if you took some of all your money from living in your big house, and gave it away, there wouldn’t be a problem”, and others like, “it’s your fault for living for being so rich”! Then someone threw this rock at their house, check out the picture.

Unbelievable! Tina is scared and can’t even drive around her neighborhood without being approached for money by gangs of homeless people demanding money. She wants to move but her husband Jeff, thinks she’s overreacting. I tell you, if it was Lori and I, we’d already be gone. The former and current mayor of Denver and the City Council have destroyed the city. Our Governor is in denial, saying, and I quote, “this is all just people’s imagination, and that the news is creating hysteria”. Good God, it’s on fucking video! They’re telling you, don’t believe your own eyes, because it doesn’t fit their political position. All you need to do is look at any city run by Democrats vs. those run by Republicans, same for States. It’s almost time to start choosing sides. This means how you vote for any local official all the way up to President. If you vote democrat, you’re voting for crime and less safety for you and your family, period, that’s a fact. No other Country in the World is doing what the Dems are doing to us, and yet, somehow, the Presidential race is close? Wow. I’ll stop now, but things are getting worse and worse, fast. Glad Tom is moving up the hill a bit. I’m afraid in a year or two, he’ll need to move further away from the city. Hopefully people are smart enough to vote against this continuing.

Time to go to the gym. I think Lori is negative today, whoo hoo! Waiting another ten minutes to see for sure. At least it’s taking some time as all other tests have been positive instantly.

Trash day so time to get moving, have a great day. I’m off to the gym. Be well, stay safe and God Bless.

Football!

Tonight is the kickoff of the college football season here with CU playing North Dakota State. Game is at 6pm and should be a good one. I’m sure Jag and Ava are going.

We’re hoping Lori is negative t0day. She’s taking a test now. Marty had his procedure and is doing fine. This morning he’ll know how long he’s in the hospital. What a scary thing. He’s still not out of the woods but I think is out of the danger zone.

Ty came home and hung out with me for a while. He cooked up a steak for dinner that I had bought while in Denver earlier in the day. I cooked up a chicken.

Nice and cool up here this morning, about 10 degrees cooler than yesterday. Big weekend coming up with the holiday. We’ll be laying low around here. In about a week we’re off to Oklahoma for Dix’s Okie service. Today marks one year since she passed away. She was a good old gal, and we miss her.

6:45 am now. That’s it for the day. Hope everyone is well. Hang in there, fight the good fight and rock on, God Bless.

Denver

I’m headed down the hill in less than an hour. I’m dropping my truck for its first oil change and then need to run up to the bank to drop some papers. After that, I’m headed to St. Anthony’s hospital. Marty was taken by ambulance yesterday after going to the ER up here for the second time in two days. Turns out he has abscesses on his colon from diverticulitis. This has been causing intense abdominal pain and can be dangerous if they burst. They’ll go in this morning to drain or take them out and then it looks like he could be in the hospital 10 to 14 days on antibiotics! Nothing to mess around with. Luckily, he went to the ER when I told him to.

Lori is still positive and I’m still negative. That means I’m still sleeping upstairs and only see her in passing when she comes out for something. She’s always all masked up and we use Lysol wipes like they’re going out of style. She’s still coughing and has a little fever. My hands have never been so clean from the endless washing. Hope she’s negative today as this is getting old. Even though it’s just a cold, it is a bad one. You can see how someone old would have a hard time with this.

Mark and I smoked a couple of cigars yesterday. He’s been in Kansas City celebrating his mom’s 92nd birthday. She’s still all there, physically and mentally. She plays fantasy football with him and her other sons, takes Uber on her own, and does just about anything else she wants. This weekend, she’s throwing (or carrying) the first pitch out for the Kansas City Royals, Cleveland Indians baseball game. They go to almost all the Royals and Chiefs games. I told him how lucky he is to still have his mom around. Sure wish my mom was still here.

5:30am now. Lori is still sleeping, Harley has had breakfast and I, my coffee. Time to hit the shower and get on the road. Be well, stay safe and God Bless.

Still positive

Lori’s broke her fever last night, that’s the good news. Yesterday it topped out at 101.9 which is up there. Bad news is she’s still testing positive. That means at least another day of us avoiding each other and me sleeping upstairs. Good news is my neck pain is pretty much all gone from sleeping in Jagger’s bed. We might need to get a new bed!

I told her yesterday being single is no fun. I’m glad Tom found Holly as I’m bored after only 4 days. I couldn’t imagine being alone for 4 years!

Hopefully by tomorrow or the next day, she’ll test negative. The damn tests are $10 a piece too! Hopefully Dr. B doesn’t get it as he’s off to Barcelona. Same with Holly, Lori’s P.A. who is off to Switzerland. To be clear, this has all the symptoms of a really bad cold. Fever, headache and cough. None of the symptoms they talked about years ago like shortness of breath or anything. But it is one hell of a cold. Knock on wood that I’ve managed to avoid catching it.

Upside is I’m down about 5 pounds as Lori hasn’t been cooking. Think I’ll go to the gym again today and knock a couple miles out on the treadmill and lift some weights.

Weather has been great, mid 70’s and nice. That’s it for the day, not much else to say without wading into politics, which I’m trying to avoid. Have a great day, be well, stay safe and God Bless.
