Clear, Crisp and Cold

It’s beautiful outside but cold so says the news. One of our big bucks is outside eating this morning. The sky is clear and things look like a painting. Last night Lori had some much needed sleep.

Earlier Dixie came up. I have to remember she’s 90 which is almost the same as being two! This morning we’re headed back to the gym and then will attack Christmas around here. Time to put it away for 10 months or so.

Ty starts school tomorrow and I need to take his truck down to Glenwood for some cosmetic repairs. I think Jag will help me.

Thought Lori might have had the vid but she took a test and it came back negative. She wasn’t feeling well in the morning. Think she ate something funky.

That’s it, hard to believe it’s the 2nd of January, 2022. Be well and stay healthy and hopefully the vid will all be gone in a couple weeks. Hang in there! God Bless.

2022

Hard to believe. Doesn’t sound real. Time never stops. Imagine stopping time at the perfect moment. Only in your dreams. So here we go, 2022.

Snow, lots of it is here. We have well over a foot. The deer are running in the back yard playing like puppies. It’s still overcast and cloudy but no snow is falling. They say it’ll stop in 2 hours at 9am.

Lori stayed up until midnight and woke me up right before the year changed over. School starts Monday for Ty and Jag will head back to Boulder. We found out last night he’ll have remote learning until the 24th and then in person classes will start up again.

Our government is a mess. On top of being clueless with the economy, immigration and just about anything else they touch, they couldn’t have made things worse if they tried. They have no clue what to do with the pandemic as they change advice and rules almost daily. Now if you get sick, you’re told to stay home, don’t get tested and treat it like a cold. Fauci now says hospitals are overreporting covid and kids are not being hospitalized and more importantly, not dying. We’re now told to quarantine 5 days instead of 10, hmm. Again, this whole thing couldn’t have been handled worse if you tried. So now what do you do. Simple question, if it’s now not killing you, and the vaccines don’t prevent it, why are we isolating and why not just let it work its way through the population and let everyone get immune? Not picking a fight, just a serious question. I know dozens of people that had it, said it’s like a cold and then recovered in a couple days. This includes my close friend Marty with Type 1 diabetes and asthma. If he survived with zero issues it seems most people will too.

Enough of the pandemic. I brought it up as with the above facts, we think it’s the beginning of the end of the whole thing. Of course Biden will try to drag it out to distract from his failures but we’re moving on from it and him. 2022 is a fresh start and time to get on with our lives as like I said above, time doesn’t stop.

We’re looking forward to the new year, lots of travel, fun with family and friends, personal growth and peace and calm. Hope you all had a great night and I promise you, this year will be better, but you have to do your part. You can look at things glass half empty or glass half full. To us, the choice is easy as why would anyone want to live in a World as we did last year, right?

Let’s get it on! Here we go! make some plans, get a fresh attitude and get out there and live your life! You literally can do anything you want to do! Good luck and God Bless.

11 Years

Today marks the end of 11 years of the blog. Tomorrow we begin year 12, what a journey. I have to print this out somehow so it’s all on paper. Someday the boys will be able to look back and read this and remember all the things about growing up.

Tomorrow is the year 2022! I remember being with Lori on December 31st 1999. What a trip.

This morning I need to go get gas and oil for the snowblower. No snow here yet. First up, I need to read the manual. Tonight, Ty is headed to friends, and I think Jag is hanging with us. Jag and I did go to the gym yesterday afternoon after we met with our investment advisor. Today we need to open a 529 plan to save a couple grand on Colorado taxes.

Horrible wildfires in Denver near Boulder. 100 mile an hour or more winds knocked down power lines and somewhere near 1000 houses have burned. How sad. Luckily Jag is up here.

That’s it, time to get moving. Happy New Year. God Bless.

In the middle

Well it’s the day before and the day after. Sort of in the middle. With my birthday yesterday and New Year’s Eve tomorrow, today is like being in the eye of a hurricane. Now back to yesterday.

Lori made an incredible Mexican dinner and a German Chocolate Cake from scratch! I never knew pecans were in the frosting. We had James and his son Castor, Mark and James Rush, another buddy of ours over. Marty tested positive for the vid as I now call it, so he was home. We had a blast and were all done by about 9:30. Jag and Castor caught up as they were a year apart in school.

Today we’re off to the gym and then have an appointment at 10:30 with an investment guy. We’re taking Jag as he is very into any and everything financial these days. Good for him.

Lori and the boys bought me a snowblower for my birthday! I’ll need to get gas today and then read the manual to fire it up. Good timing as we’re supposed to get another foot in the next couple days. We have a couple dozen elk out front across the street working their way up the valley. Good looking animals.

Two workdays left in the year. I’m pretty much done and closed the year on a high note. Lori received a good raise of about 50% more than she’s making now. Well deserved! It’ll come in handy with two boys in college.

Thanks for all the birthday wishes. It was a good day. Now time to get ready for 2022, wow.

God Bless.

Birthday

65 years today, hard to believe. I remember when I used to look forward to my birthday. Now it’s just sort of a bad reminder of getting older. The only thing to do though is embrace it. The other choice is to just feel sorry for yourself and that’s just not me. So here we go.

I’m off to the gym in 3o minutes to kick ass. Jag is supposed to come but I think he’ll sleep in as he had a sore throat yesterday. He was getting better though by the end of the day. Ty and I braved the snow and went down to see Tom yesterday. We had a couple other errands and were home by about 4 after picking up Lori from work where we had dropped her earlier in the morning.

Tonight we’re having the guys over for Mexican food. Should be fun. Marty tested positive for covid and is having the monoclonal transfusion this morning as he has diabetes and asthma so he qualifies. He says he doesn’t feel that bad and he’s had hangovers, back when he drank, that were far worse. Not sure if he’ll make it though, we’ll see.

Time to get moving so I can clean off the car and warm it up. Hope everyone is well. I feel blessed to have such a great life and family and friends. Live and enjoy every moment, God Bless.

More snow

It’s snowing right now at the house but we’re going to give it a try and see if we can get down to Denver and Tom’s house today. Yesterday it was bad in the morning but eased up in the afternoon before getting icy and bad again last night. Looks like Mother Nature is making up for a warm Fall. We’ll try to leave by 8 to get a jump on the traffic.

Lori worked yesterday in Vail and is there again today. Tomorrow she’s supposed to be in Frisco but might take the day off since it’s my birthday and we’re having the guys over for cigars and Mexican food. Marty might have covid along with the rest of Summit County. He sat in line for 2 1/2 hours yesterday at a drive-up testing site and they’ll email him results today or tomorrow. Looks like almost everyone will get it if you haven’t already had it. Good news is almost everyone recovers in a few days. Now that there’s this new version it seems Delta and the first version are all gone. Who knows, no one does. I think everyone is guessing at this point.

Time to go. Be well, stay safe and God Bless.

5 Days

The year is almost over, only 5 days left. Hoping to head to Tom’s today but we have a bunch of new snow. Need to check the road cameras to see what we’re up against. Right now I-70 is closed west bound and the roads don’t look good. Hope we make it. Might have to try for tomorrow, ugh.

Yesterday Lori, Jag and I went to Aspen to exchange some things. On the way home we stopped at Rollie’s to see how she was doing. She seemed remarkably well considering the circumstances. Good for her as she’s facing things head on. Her house is decorated like it’s out of a magazine. She must have spent a ton of money on furnishings. Glad she’s doing well.

Ty went to the mountain and we all made it home around 4. We hit snow on the way home and it was snowing in Aspen too. Cold and snowy weather coming all week.

Lots to do for work this week. I have to finish the year and get the planning done for 2022. Sounds surreal, 2022. It’s like it’s out of some futuristic movie. Throw in the covid and it really seems like something made up. But no, it’s real.

Time to move, 7am, December 27th, hope everyone had a great Christmas. God Bless.

Boxing Day

We were headed to Tom’s, but he said he was exposed to Covid, so then we decided to go to Aspen but they say a foot of snow is coming, so it looks like we’re hanging here at home! Hold on, looking at the weather, maybe we can go. Looks like the weatherman says around 3 to 6 inches in the mountain towns. We’ll see.

Christmas was nice. We slept in and then brought Dixie up who fell asleep in her chair before the boys even came down. Once they showed up, we all began the day with our stockings. A couple hours later we were all through. Everyone received some nice things, mostly all practical stuff like clothes.

It was a nice morning and after opening presents, Dixie was all worn out, so we drove her home for a mid-day nap. We then cleaned up a bit and Lori put a prime rib in the oven before going back to get Dixie at 4:30 for dinner. We had a nice family dinner with some football on tv. A couple good games yesterday with Green Bay winning and the Cardinals losing, sorry Robi. We took Dix back home around 7:30.

We have a close friend who caught covid last year and her cough was really bothering her, and it wouldn’t go away. She went for a chest x-ray and they found uterine cancer all throughout her body. She was just married last year, bought and remodeled a house in Aspen and bought another one in Denver and then this. She’s in chemo now and hopefully having surgery mid-January and not going out anywhere so we’ll stop and see her in Aspen if we go. So sad, we’ve known her probably 20 years! Say a prayer for her. Her name is Rollie. Like I say, live and appreciate each day!

That’s it, be well, stay safe and God Bless, and Happy Boxing Day!

Merry Christmas!

Christmas 2021. Hard to believe it’s already here. Christmas is one of those days that stick in your memory no matter who you are. We all have memories of when we were kids or with our children when they were young or parents when they were old. It’s magical and should be as it celebrates the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Enjoy the day and cherish the moment with loved ones and friends.

Last night we were having Dixie and our cousin Lee and Margret up for dinner. Around 4 Dixie decided she didn’t feel like it and a few minutes later Lee texted he had a 100 degree fever! So, our party of 8 (James was stuck at home) tuned into just us four. Lori made a great dinner of ham, crab, caviar, potato’s, green beans and more which we all enjoyed. Our herd of deer outside have been chowing down on bird seed and carrots for days. Here’s a couple pictures below of the big buck who’s in charge! He again tore down a strand of lights with his majestic antlers. We live in one of the top hunting units in the State which is super hard to draw for. In any case, he’s safe in our yard!

This morning we’ll get Dixie around 8 or 9 and bring her up for the festivities. We had good snow yesterday, probably a foot and a dusting overnight as well. It took a lot of shoveling yesterday and then Craig our landscaper drove by and plowed a bit before Brian our neighbor finished it off with his smaller 4 wheeler.

We hope you all are well. We couldn’t make it to Tom’s yesterday but it sounds like he’s in good hands and we’ll try tomorrow. Best wishes for a wonderful Christmas and a happy New Year! God Bless.

Christmas Eve

Here we are, Christmas Eve 2021. Sure came fast. Last night was wonderful. Couldn’t have been more fun. James arrived around 5, he’s usually early and then about an hour later Mark, Shelly and Clark arrived. Marty and Melanie and Max were stuck in traffic as Vail Pass was closed so they ended up getting here around 7. Lori was the hostess with the mostess. The house was spectacular and so was the food. It was like we were at The Plaza Hotel out of the movie Home Alone with everything perfect. Lots of laughs, good food, cigars and even some presents. Everyone had a great time and we wrapped up around 11pm.

Tonight we have more of the same. Dixie will be up for dinner, and I think James might be back with us. This morning Jag has an appointment to workout with a trainer at the gym but not sure if he’ll make it so I’ll go instead.

Tom called last night and said not to drive down as he was worried that we’d get stuck, and Lori would be all alone for Christmas. We’ll now go down the day after Christmas. Up to 2 feet of snow by the time it’s all over tomorrow morning. He has dinner plans tonight and tomorrow so that’s good. Hate for us not to be able to go down but you can’t mess with Mother Nature, ha.

Enjoy the day, it’ll be over soon and then before you know it, 2022. Hell, before we know it, it’ll be 203 the way time flies! Merry Christmas and God Bless to all.
