Tax Day

I hate this day. Comes around every three months, tax day. It sucks so much because we get so little for all the money we give to the government. What a broken system. This year it’s worse as so many people have decided not to work anymore as they’d rather sit home and collect free money from the Dems so those of us that do work, end up paying even more. And they want to now pass a law with more taxes to expand the free shit for the losers who are too lazy to take responsibility for themselves. Sometimes you wonder if it’d be better to just slow down and not work as much.

Lori has two herniated discs in her neck and will need surgery. She had an MRI yesterday. Her doc doesn’t want to do the surgery as he says he doesn’t operate on family. I told her to tell him she’ll quit and then he can do it and then rehire her! Ty has basketball this morning, just a casual shoot around. He went to the hockey game last night.

Cooler weather next week, whoo hoo. Bird hunting season opens today, double whoo hoo! Time to go before I get sucked into politics and all the worthless idiots in Washington. God Bless.

Harvest Moon

Not sure when the harvest moon is around but, for the past few nights, the moon has been about halfway full and bright as it could be. It sits among a scattered painting of clouds and looks like something out of a Halloween movie. Stars are sprinkled around providing flashes of light by the moon. It’s also the name of a Neil Young song, ha.

I’m off to Denver again today to have Lori’s wiper fixed on the passenger side of her car. Should be back by 2 if I’m lucky. Ty needs to go in early so I’ll need to wake him in about 10 minutes. Lori did something and her headache is back. Dixie is having a rough time and doesn’t want to go down to eat so we’re now stopping by to see her in the morning to make sure she gets dressed and goes down for breakfast. I’ll stop by this afternoon.

I’d better get moving as I’m the only one awake. Make it a great day and God Bless.

fun times

Yesterday we had a great day. Lots of football and a Broncos win and then dinner with my two best buds, Marty and James. Marty’s birthday is today so we had an impromptu dinner last night here. Lori worked her little butt off making cheesecake, bbq pork ribs, filets, her famous Potato Dauphine known as potato crack, a green salad and homemade ice cream. I don’t know how she does it but she loves to have people over. James made it here a bit after 5 and Marty and Mel picked Ty up at the skate park and were here by 5:30.

Today Lori and I are off to Denver and Ty is headed to school. We hope to be back by 2:30 or 3. Not sure when he gets out today. Looks like 80 degrees today which is perfect. Mid September can bring snow some years so you never know.

Time to get going so we can be out the door in 45 minutes. Make it a great week and God Bless.

Football!

Although we had a game on Thursday, today is really the start of the football season. The Broncos play at 2. At 5, Marty, Melanie and James are coming over for dinner. Marty’s birthday is tomorrow and James leaves tomorrow until the end of September to promote their new album and the upcoming tour. He always tells me, “it’s just my job”, which is right. Mel texted yesterday and I decided to invite James last night as I knew he’d probably just be hanging.

Lori made it home around 3 and then went to see her Mom and brought her back for tamales until about 7:30. Dixie does so much better when she’s up here but she just can’t live with us. Yesterday she said she’d give the place where she lives a try but might go back to Oklahoma to live with her friends. Of course she hasn’t lived in Oklahoma for 75 years and all her friends have passed away. She also told Lori she wants to go visit her mother who died in 1998. But she still has her sense of humor as I joke with her all the time.

Jag went to the CU Texas A&M game and they should have, could have won. It was close, 10 to 7. What an experience though, 70,000 college kids at Mile High jumping up and down for 3 hours. Hope the Broncos do better today.

The colors are starting to change up here with some yellow popping up on top of the peaks outside the living room windows. Fall, the best time of the year.

Let’s all do something in a small way to change the World. It can start with the smallest thing, doesn’t have to be huge. For example, last week coming home from hunting three elderly ladies, had to be at least in their 80’s, sat next to James, Castor, Marty and I at the Italian restaurant in Glenwood when the canyon was closed. I saw them sit down, hold hands and say a prayer before they ate. I had the waitress bring me their bill when she brought ours and said I wanted to pay for their dinner but not to tell them until we were gone. I hope it was a nice surprise for them when their check came. Was just a random thought to do it for them as I’m sure they were on a budget. At least it looked that way. Could have been billionaires for all I know but it wasn’t about the money, it was about doing something nice and unexpected for someone else. So go out and commit a random act of kindness today, make someone’s day! Buy the person behind you at drive thru their coffee, do something where it’s a surprise! Hell, hold the door open for someone, take their cart back for them from the grocery store parking lot as you’re going in. You’re going that way anyhow! Spread the love, everything helps, Lord knows we need it these days.

God Bless.

Never Forget

20 years, wow. I remember it vividly. It was so surreal and confusing. After it went on for a few hours the anger grew. How could any person do this to another? No answers still. In fact, things are now worse with people in general having no regard for their fellow man. How ironic that weeks ago we left the terrorist haven of Afghanistan and emboldened these people to once again get busy on planning on how to attack us again. I’m sure they’re celebrating. Big mistake.

Lori is flying home today. She leaves at 10 MST time and will land around 2. This includes a couple hour layover in Denver. That’s the only downside to flying in and out of Eagle, sometimes the connections don’t line up smoothly.

I hung out with Dixie yesterday for about and hour and a half. She’s still confused but that’s ok, we’re settling into a groove. She always remembers me and loves chocolate milkshakes which I always take her. 90 is tough but as I tell her, at least she’s still here!

Ty was out with friends until around midnight. I cleaned up a bit but need to vacuum and do some grocery shopping before Lori gets in. Ty needs to clean his room today which will take him some time. Jag is going to the football game at Mile High Stadium in Denver today. CU plays Texas A & M. Hope we win but Texas is ranked #5 in the Country.

Guess I’ll get going so I can get to the store early and get back home to clean. Have a great weekend and enjoy the day. They all seem to go so fast these days. When you’re a kid you think you’ll be young forever. Then you blink and you have kids in college or are on the downhill side of life. Do something for yourself today, you deserve it! May God Bless and watch over you!

Never stops!

Lots going on. Lori made it to Sacramento, although late. I managed to get some work done and so did Ty and Jag is slammed. We also received a new bill from CU for about $2K in health insurance. Of course Jagger has health insurance and doesn’t need to pay for this but the school messed up. On top of that our log in for the place we need to go to sign the waiver, again, isn’t working.

Today I’m going to try to get one storage unit cleaned out which means a trip to the dump. I have a trip to Fed Ex I need to do and I need to try to get Ty into the doctor to see if we can get his knee cleared for basketball.

Yesterday Biden announced what he calls mandates for millions of people to get the shot. Now I’m pro vaccine but also believe in personal choice. If someone doesn’t want it, I don’t think they should be forced to get it. I know others feel different but this is a slippery slope. Not sure it’ll pass in the courts where it’s headed. What we do now know is that Fauci and the govt. funded the lab and project that created this virus. We, the U.S., even paid the salary of the scientist that created it! Of course nothing will happen as with the dems in charge they won’t pursue it. Look out when the republicans get back in charge. The whole thing makes me sick.

That’s it, time to move on, Lori is home tomorrow. She’s swamped dealing with decades of old papers and bills and crap to clean out. Have a great weekend and tomorrow is 9/11, Never Forget. God Bless.

Off to Cal

I was in Denver yesterday, briefly saw Tom and the bank and then stopped by to see Art and Steve, my buddies in the watch business before heading up the hill. Ty was at school until around 4 and Lori finally made it home around 8.

This morning she’s off to California to do some work on her mom’s estate. She needs to take care of the house, meet with the tax guy and wrap up some other things she can only do in person. She’ll be back Saturday. James is on Jimmy Kimmel or Jimmy Fallon tonight. Whichever one he’s not on tonight, he’s on tomorrow, I forgot which is which.

20 years since 9/11 this Saturday. They’re still prosecuting the cowards that attacked us and still identifying victims, wow. What is wrong with people who would do such a thing.

My buddy Matt is coming through town today so we’ll grab lunch. He has my quarter of beef and is giving me a freezer so I don’t have to buy another one. Then we’ll have three freezers full of beef and elk. Matt is convinced in a matter of months things are going to be like the former Soviet Union and food and everything else will be really expensive and in short supply. Hope he’s wrong.

Dixie is fine. Still a bit confused about where she lived as she thinks it’s Oklahoma. No calls this morning but she did call last night. I’ll go see her today and tomorrow. Football starts tonight! I’ll be texting and calling Tommy as it’s our Fall ritual. That’s it, stay safe and God Bless.

Up early

Dixie called at 5:11 am this morning. She’s an early riser and when she doesn’t wear her oxygen is when she gets confused. I stopped by yesterday and she said she hadn’t worn it all day! I told her she has to wear it 24/7. She does still know Lori’s number though, ha.

I’m headed down to Denver this morning after dropping Ty for an early basketball shoot around before the season starts. He’s doing really well in school. Jag is working away hard too.

Taxes next week, ugh. Boy I don’t like all the taxes we pay. Seems like lots of people are not paying any but not us, no. We pay about $2500 a month and another $25,000 every three months! Think that adds up to about $130K a year! Marty says we should stop working so hard and slow down as it’s just not worth it. Might be something to that!

Biden is now being heckled in public every where he goes. Fauci was caught lying yesterday as it turns out he did fund the gain of function research which led to covid even though he testified he didn’t, surprise surprise, not!

Lori and her team got the third shot but she says she’s now done, no matter what. Still lots of confusing data and information out there. So sad it all became so political. Guess I’ll get going. Lori is off tomorrow morning for California. Dixie wants Don’s ashes brought back so I told Lori to ship them. Carrying them on a plane would be too much of a hassle.

That is it! Colors are starting to change a little bit. Should be around the end of the month before all is gold. Great time of year, God Bless.

Back at it

Busy week, tomorrow I’m headed down to Denver, Thursday Lori is headed to California and Ty has school all week. Lori is back Saturday night. I think Jag might come up this weekend, hope so as it’d be good to see him. It was cool last night as we always sleep with the window open. I turned the sprinklers off as our water bill was almost $800 last month! My neighbor’s bill was $1700!

Last night we had Dixie up for dinner. She’s doing well and enjoying some new ladies who moved in. She caught up on some sleep yesterday until we picked her up around 4. I cooked some elk back straps and lamb chops. Dixie liked the elk better than the lamb and said she’d never had elk before. That’s good as we have a freezer full.

We all miss Mojo. It hits us in waves as he was with us every moment of every day. Of course we miss Ali too but it’s a little different as Mojo lived with us. Little things like feeding only one dog in the morning are different and bring back memories. Lori has been on Facebook answering questions from Ali’s friends. Tom’s not on there and we just don’t know any of her friends but she had a lot who are wondering what happened. Not much we can tell them except to let them know. Lori’s good at dealing with people though so she’s been spending hours answering peoples posts.

That’s it, time to get moving as it’s a bit after 7 and time to go. Hope everyone is well. Take care, be safe and God Bless.

Labor Day

Nice to have a 3 day weekend, we sure need it. Yesterday Lori cleaned Jagger’s room and it took her all day! She could have cleaned the whole house in the same amount of time. What a mess.

I washed out my coolers, unpacked and washed all my hunting gear and did the rest of the other laundry. A college game was on at 5:30 so Tom and I texted back and forth during the game which we always do. Not sure if you all know but he and I are smarter than most college and pro coaches when it comes to football.

Ty went out around 6 last night and was home by 11. Tomorrow school starts up again. Jag was doing homework as he had some due at midnight last night. That’s the downside of the internet as when we were kids you’d get to wait until you go to class to turn your homework in.

Not sure what’s up today. Hopefully some relaxation and lounging around the house. Think we’ll go to the gym. Hope everyone is well, be safe and take care, God Bless.
