Football!

Although we had a game on Thursday, today is really the start of the football season. The Broncos play at 2. At 5, Marty, Melanie and James are coming over for dinner. Marty’s birthday is tomorrow and James leaves tomorrow until the end of September to promote their new album and the upcoming tour. He always tells me, “it’s just my job”, which is right. Mel texted yesterday and I decided to invite James last night as I knew he’d probably just be hanging.

Lori made it home around 3 and then went to see her Mom and brought her back for tamales until about 7:30. Dixie does so much better when she’s up here but she just can’t live with us. Yesterday she said she’d give the place where she lives a try but might go back to Oklahoma to live with her friends. Of course she hasn’t lived in Oklahoma for 75 years and all her friends have passed away. She also told Lori she wants to go visit her mother who died in 1998. But she still has her sense of humor as I joke with her all the time.

Jag went to the CU Texas A&M game and they should have, could have won. It was close, 10 to 7. What an experience though, 70,000 college kids at Mile High jumping up and down for 3 hours. Hope the Broncos do better today.

The colors are starting to change up here with some yellow popping up on top of the peaks outside the living room windows. Fall, the best time of the year.

Let’s all do something in a small way to change the World. It can start with the smallest thing, doesn’t have to be huge. For example, last week coming home from hunting three elderly ladies, had to be at least in their 80’s, sat next to James, Castor, Marty and I at the Italian restaurant in Glenwood when the canyon was closed. I saw them sit down, hold hands and say a prayer before they ate. I had the waitress bring me their bill when she brought ours and said I wanted to pay for their dinner but not to tell them until we were gone. I hope it was a nice surprise for them when their check came. Was just a random thought to do it for them as I’m sure they were on a budget. At least it looked that way. Could have been billionaires for all I know but it wasn’t about the money, it was about doing something nice and unexpected for someone else. So go out and commit a random act of kindness today, make someone’s day! Buy the person behind you at drive thru their coffee, do something where it’s a surprise! Hell, hold the door open for someone, take their cart back for them from the grocery store parking lot as you’re going in. You’re going that way anyhow! Spread the love, everything helps, Lord knows we need it these days.

God Bless.
