A Year of Change

Last night the boys sure were tired. They played basketball from about 8 until 6 yesterday. Today we have more of the same with the camp going from 9 until 3 and then they need to be back at 5:20 for a 6 pm game against Lake County which is basically kids from Leadville. After the game I told them I’d get them Nuduro for dinner which is their favorite ramen noodle place in town.

On my way back from Denver yesterday, Vail Pass was closed due to a semi that caught fire so I had to go through Leadville and then cut down Hwy. 24 to home. This added at least 40 minutes to the trip and was no fun. It’s hazy up here from the fires. It looks like a bad summer with so many fires so early in the June.

Mojo needs to be at the groomer by 8 am for a clean up. Harley will go to daycare to play with her friend Penelope for the day. Lori has a 7 am meeting and I have a 10:30 conference call. Then it’s off to the Sheriff’s Department to renew our concealed weapons permits. I’m also putting together a fundraiser for the police department to help raise extra money for gear and to support officers who have been injured in the line of duty. We did the same thing down in Denver and thought we’d do our small part to help out up here too. It should be fun.

It’s 6 am now so time to get everyone, dogs and boys, moving, as we’re off to Aspen in 2 days. I almost forgot, the Director of Operations resigned and the COO asked Lori if she wanted to apply for the job. She said no but I told her to at least get the job description and see what it pays so she has the inside info. Might as well know what the position entails. Jagger told her to take it, ha. Here we go, the boys have three days of basketball, I’m off to Big D and Lori has lots of work including a meeting tomorrow am. Harley is off to daycare and then Thursday we’re all off to Aspen. Yesterday was more basketball, cleaning, playing (for the dogs) and basketball, (for the boys).

We have a few radical changes we’re making at work which is good. Time to shake things up a bit. Attack when they least expect it, go right when they think you’re going left and keep everyone off balance. Basically do the unexpected as the status quo often keeps you in, the status quo.

This morning after working out, I’m off to Aspen to drop wine for the Kickoff Party this coming Thursday. I could go Tuesday but I’d rather go on a Sunday as there’s little to no traffic.

Yesterday we made it to Denver by 10:30. I dropped Lori at the salon and headed back to Mom’s to meet Tom. He has really been working hard the past few weeks. We’re making progress but it’s a big project as there are so many papers to look through. I did find some great old photos and books on both sides of the family that lay out the genealogy of the family. It’s really interesting. Someday after I get settled or retire I’ll go through all this stuff and make books or dvd’s for everyone. There are tons of clothes and it just dawned on us that they’d be perfect for our friends in Aspen! The ladies we know are the same size as Mom and wear the same style clothes. I’ll pick them up tomorrow in Denver and donate them to the rich and famous, ha. Whatever they don’t want they can give to the women’s shelter in Glenwood.

Ty was again in town at the GoPro Games. Jag stayed home with Harley. Mojo peed last night so I already mopped the floor with vinegar and water.

It’s Saturday but that doesn’t mean much in the grand scheme of things as it’s just another work day. In about 2 hours Lori and I are off to Denver where she’ll get her hair done while I help Tom at Moms. I stopped by yesterday to look through some more papers and Tom was there too working away. There is still a ton of stuff even after Tom bagged up all of Moms clothes. I have a lot to look through and we need some sort of antique person to come out. Lori will drop me off and then come back in the afternoon after her hair is done.

Yesterday I was down and up in what seemed like a quick trip, however I left around 7:30 and was home around 4! I made all my appointments and stopped at the grocery store. Jag was home and Ty was in town for the GoPro Games. Jag was tired from basketball and actually fell asleep around dinner time. He woke up later and we made him some dinner. I had a dream about Mom last night when she was a little girl, I still miss her a bunch and think about her every single day. It’s funny but I think about her in terms of a year ago, meaning what was she doing one year ago today and how was she doing. Oh well, you do what you have to do, that’s what she always said.

We’re headed to the gym for a quick 45 minute workout before heading down the hill so time to get going. Next week is Aspen Food and Wine and basketball camp for the boys on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday before we leave. Maybe tomorrow we’ll get to sleep in, we shall see. Have a fun day and God Bless.

Today the boys have basketball for an hour in the morning and I’m off to Denver. I need to hit the distributor, the lawyer, then I have a meeting in Highlands and another in Longmont, then it’s off to Mom’s. Not sure how much cleaning I’ll get done today, (Tom’s been doing a lot) but tomorrow I should be there all day.

We have the GoPro Games up here. They started yesterday and go through the weekend. The boys will hit the town with 70,000 other people which are expected to be here. I had a hard workout at 5:30 last night which was nice. I’m not sore yet but should be by tomorrow.

I have to print out some documents on the computer, take a shower, pack up some samples, get both boys moving and be out the door in 37 minutes so I’d better get moving. Weather is perfect as usual. Have a good weekend, take care, be safe and do something fun!

Well we wake up in the morning to another day, the sun is shining, the dogs are frisky and the boys are sleeping. This weekend I’m going to try to clean out the last few things from Mom’s house and at least get things in the garage. Tom has been working I think most of the week boxing up clothes and stuff. Lori is getting her hair done so she’ll drop me Saturday morning and then come back when she’s done. Tomorrow I have a few early am appointments but should be there sometime around noon or so. Maybe I’ll get over mid morning between appointments as James is supposed to show up to help.

Today Ty has a dentist appointment and Jag a workout appointment. I have a call this morning with Las Vegas and then will be doing some computer work between running kids around. Lori had a long day even though she was supposed to have a half day off. Today will be more of the same as it’s clinic.

That’s about it, lots more going on behind the scenes. I did talk with Robin yesterday and she and Robert are doing well. Good to hear. I guess it’s hot down there, like 110! We’ll stick with our 80 up here which is just fine with us. God Bless.

Since we had the carpet cleaners here and since Mojo had an accident on the carpet AND on the wood floors, I decided to do an industrial clean of the house. First up I was off to Home Depot for some supplies and then I picked up Ty at Sonny’s. Once home, I proceeded to move all the furniture before vacuuming and then brought out my new mop and bucket with some vinegar and water and scrubbed the hardwoods thoroughly. Of course after washing the floors with this mixture, you then have to go over it about 3 or 4 times with fresh white cloths to dry it. Once we were in the drying mode, I tackled the kitchen. Before cleaning I had to first clean off the counters so I could start to clean! Then it was time to scrub down the granite countertops in much the same fashion as the floors. After that came the stove and then lots of dusting and picking up clutter, all while doing laundry and waiting for the carpet cleaners. By a little after 2, I was done. I stood back and surveyed my work proudly as the house, or at least the main floor, hadn’t been this clean since the place was built.

A few hours later we were off to basketball. We’re not sure our coach knows what he’s doing but it is what it is. Jag accidently left his shoes at the game and by the time we drove back to get them, the gym was all locked up. Hope no one took them but sadly they’re probably gone. The boys are supposed to have basketball this morning but I’m not fighting to wake them so if they get up, they get up, if not, they won’t go. Harley needs her nails cut badly so we’ll need to get that done today. It’s about 6:30 now so time to get moving. Have a great day, be safe and once again, may God watch over you and bless you.

Lori and I woke up to diarrhea on the stairs from Mojo around 6 in the morning. The next 45 minutes were spent trying to clean up the mess. At 7 am I called Steam Master who know us well. We think Mojo had an upset stomach due to a rawhide stick that he and Harley had been eating for a few days. Oh well, if that’s the worst thing that happens today, we’ll be alright.

Ty spent the night with Jack and Sonny at Sonny’s. Lori, Jag, Andrea (our friend from Denver and Jack’s mom) went to sushi at Matsu. Then Andrea came over to hang out with Lori for a while. Steam Master just called and will be here right after lunch. Julie knows me well, she asked how’s it going and I replied, “same old shit, literally”, ha. Mojo is getting old as I think he’s 12 or maybe 13 now.

Jag had a good basketball practice and they have a game tonight at 6 against Battle Mountain which is a 4 A school. He doesn’t care though, he just wants to play. I have a few calls today and a bunch of computer work. Lori has clinic so she’s getting ready for work. It was 82 up here which is about perfect, they say 93 in Denver which is too hot for us. Basketball, work, phone calls, driving and cleaning. That about sums up our day and most of the coming week. It all starts in about 30 minutes when I need to take Jag to practice. Then both boys have practice from 4:30 until 6 this afternoon. Ty is sort of sick from Waterworld. He was feeling so crappy he even stayed home last night from the movies with Jack and Sonny. Both dogs are up but Mojo has an upset stomach too, never a dull moment.

The sky is blue outside and it’s supposed to be in the mid 80’s all week long up here which is just about perfect. I’d like to make a trip to the storage unit and might just do so as I need to stop by the Sheriff’s Department which is in Eagle to renew my license. I’m putting together a fundraiser for them with leftover wine to help raise funds for officers injured in the line of duty and to buy more gear which they are always in need of. Dr. C is back this morning from his 3 week cruise and is in surgery. Lori has lots going on and it’ll be a long day as she has a lot of things to get him caught up on.

Today is Mom and Dad’s anniversary, wonder what they’re up to! I still remember that day sometime around 1970 when they were married across town and then took a helicopter down to The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs. I found a bunch of old pictures of the wedding when we were cleaning out the attic. It was a great day I’m sure for both of them as they truly were meant to be together, Happy Anniversary.

Yesterday Lori and I made a quick trip down to town while Ty went down to Waterworld. He then spent the night at Sonny’s with Jack who came back up with them. Lori is on the way to get him now so he can clean his room so he can go to town later. Jag hung out with Harley, played some basketball and cleaned his room.

Today we’ll continue the decluttering around here. We’re finally in the mindset that if we don’t use it, lose it, meaning get rid of it. This includes everything from clothes to furniture as there’s just too much stuff. Must run in the family, ha.

It’s a little cooler up here which is nice. Not cold but not hot either. I think I’ll work on the garage today. Lori did some work on her closet yesterday which was a big deal. My knee is still a little bit sore so I’ll try to take it easy on it today. Time to get moving, Lori got up with the dogs and let me sleep an extra 90 minutes, what a sweetie, God Bless.
