Here we go

Almost mid-October and 3 weeks to Halloween. Nice Fall weather outside these days. Maybe a little moisture this week with snow high above 10,000 feet. It’s Columbus Day today but is now called Indigenous People Day. Not sure if it’s officially changed to that or not but I still call it Columbus Day. But then again, I still call the football team in Washington D.C. the Redskins, not the Commanders. What a mess. Looks like Mt. Evans, Colorado’s highest peak is also changing its name. People think they can rewrite history but no matter how hard you try, the past is the past.

The boys are well. Ty was with Jagger yesterday and I went to Marty’s for a bit. He’s headed to Annapolis at the end of the week to meet Mel where she’s giving a seminar and then they’re going to a sailboat show. Lori is doing well but still recuperating. Dr. B is gone all week, so she has the week to get all better.

Good football this weekend and we have a good game tonight. The moon has been full lately and it shines in our bedroom around 3am in the morning. It’s the Hunters Moon. Should be gone in a few days.

Guess I’ll get moving. I have a call at 9 so if I want to get to the gym I need to get moving. Make it a great week, God Bless and Go Raiders! They play the Chiefs tonight, ha.

Getting cooler

This week it’ll be much cooler, down low and up here. We’re down Thursday for Lori’s post-op appointment and will probably see or hit snow on the pass. Won’t be long now.

Yesterday I worked around the house a bit after going to the gym. I’m off to the gym again this morning and then might drive over to Glenwood to pick up a case of ghee and some extra bags of pet food for Harley. We’ll see how the day goes. Lots of football on.

Not much else going on, time to get moving, make it a great Sunday, God Bless.

New tires!

Yesterday morning I headed to Glenwood to get my new tires put on the truck. Tires that come on new vehicles are usually pretty cheap, so manufacturers save money. With winter coming, and 25,000 miles on the current tires, I decided to get new ones. Tires are not cheap these days, $2300 for a set of 4 installed. I bought the Toyo AT 3’s which are the best ones out there. Ty was super excited and had me send him a picture. Next up is to get some snow tires on Lori’s Porsche.

Ty went to Fort Collins yesterday and spent the night with friends and today is headed to Boulder to stay with Jagger. He’s on a mini tour around the State to see friends. He went with his buddy Ryker from up here.

There’s a new pack of wolves in Colorado. 18 calves were found dead in Meeker. Thanks to all the environmentalists in Boulder and Denver that voted for their reintroduction! I’m sure the ranchers are happy. Too bad we can’t have those wolves go live next door to the people that voted to have them here and let them play with their dogs and cats. Another example of stupid decisions by one group of people that don’t have to live with the consequences. If I was a rancher, and my calves were getting killed, wolves would mysteriously begin to disappear. Wolves are the only animals that kill just to kill. They’ll kill more than they can eat and just leave the carcasses.

I organized our pantry yesterday and continued to get ready for winter. More of the same today. Lori is doing fine recuperating. I’m off to the gym this morning as I didn’t make it yesterday as planned. She’s been sleeping up in Jagger’s room as she has to sleep sitting up for a week. Oh, in the afternoon I went to Kellie’s, and picked up 10 dozen eggs. We also had the company that installed solar panels on the new house down the street come up and measure us for a system. I hope to put it in along with an inverter and batteries that will store power so if the power goes out, I can keep the house running. We’ll also of course cut our power bill a bunch. I need to analyze the numbers though to make sure they work as if I don’t break even in 5 years or less, it’s not worth it. Then I’ll just get a generator instead.

That’s it, nice and cool last night. Make it a great day and God Bless.

Disgusting

Ok, Biden is telling all of us nuclear war is possible and other crap trying to distract from his failures but the real failure of the day was our Denver Broncos losing to the Indianapolis Colts. Again, poor coaching. I won’t go into as I’m so frustrated, but it was flat out embarrassing.

We made it to Denver on time for Lori’s surgery and were home by 5. She’s doing well and taking it easy. She’ll be fine in a few days.

I’m off to Glenwood at 10:30 to get new tires put on the truck. Then the rest of the day will be spent organizing some supplies and continuing to get ready for winter. I’m going to head to the gym first. It’s cool up here with snow on the peaks. It’s slowly working its way down in altitude each day. Driving by the ski areas, they’re all making snow.

In Vegas, a guy went on a stabbing spree killing two and injuring about 6, right in the middle of the day, on the Vegas strip. Unbelievable. It was unprovoked and the guy is a Hispanic male in his mid 30’s and odds are he’s an illegal. I was visiting with a buddy yesterday who is a Viet Nam Vet and Purple Heart winner, who lost a leg over there. Randy owns the largest high end tactical rifle shop in the Country. He sells mostly to police departments and some military groups that can afford their own gear better than what the government supplies. We were reminiscing about how things were when we grew up and how they’ve changed. Randy, who is disabled, and probably a few years older than me, said he now doesn’t go to the bathroom without a gun! I understand his point as when I’m anywhere, but especially in Denver, my head is on a swivel, and I’m always armed. So sad that this is where we are as a Country, but it is what it is. On top of it, things will get worse before they get better.

Time to get moving, make it a great day, God Bless.

Off to Denver

Colorado Springs was great! The route I took was even better. I ended up driving through Lake George on the way in, and I looked to my right and saw Grandma Miller’s cabin where we all used to go when we were kids. I’m 99% positive I was looking at the right place. The drive, even though 3 hours, was nice. No traffic and great scenery. The tasting was good too. Lots of good business.

I was home by 6 and soon it was 8. I’m off early this morning and should be back by 3 or 4 if lucky. After today, no more road trips for a while. Bronco’s tonight, Ty is going to the game with some buddies.

Time to get moving as I need to be on the road by 5:30am. Take care and God Bless.

Colorado Springs

In about an hour I’m off for the Springs. I’m not going through Denver but instead going the back way. Much prettier drive and both are about 3 hours one way. I have a tasting from 12 to 4 but I’m leaving at 3 for home.

Yesterday Sherriff Van Beek stopped by as I donate wine for the county’s annual fundraiser. He’s a good friend and I’ve been helping them out for 3 or 4 years. Out of nowhere he told me to get ready for a wild Fall and Winter. The Department too is expecting things like crime and food shortages and basically just more desperate people to be on the rise, hmm. Up here in the bubble too.

Boys are fine. Lori is in Frisco today so Harley will be alone for a good 11 hours. We caught another mouse yesterday and two last night. We think they must have had babies as the ones we are now catching are smaller. I throw them across the street and either a bird or another animal quickly gets them. The circle of life. That’s why I don’t use poison.

Tomorrow I’m in Denver and then home for a good while. Costco and City market were both out of eggs! So was the Costco in Arizona, not sure about others. Luckily our friends with chickens have plenty for us. I’ll pick up 10 dozen Friday. Here we go!

That’s it, make it a great day, God Bless.

Rising prices

Today Excel announced on tv they’re raising prices. This isn’t a surprise; the surprise will be when you get the bill. Just the first in a long line of price hikes coming your way. Expect inflation to stick around for probably 5 years at minimum and high prices will stay with it. People will not go back to work and worker shortages will continue. This is mainly due to larger forces at play. The largest generation in history, Baby Boomers, are retiring, the Millennials generation are not as large and a lot of them don’t want to work or don’t have the best work ethic and the Zoomers, we’ll they loved covid as they’re basically anti-social and would prefer to stay in their rooms and communicate via social media and play on their computer. You see, the past 30 or 40 years which we think were normal were actually not normal but a period of great prosperity where everything went great. This now is not the new normal, but the old normal. This is much more like previous times of the 20’s through the 40’s or even the 70’s and early 80’s. If you’re old enough, you remember the late 70’s and early 80’s when mortgages and car loans were 18-20%. We had gas lines to get gas depending on the last number of your license plate. Odd numbers were on one day and even on another.

A buddy texted me yesterday saying a retired 4 Star General was on tv saying go buy food and water now. This morning on the local news, it stressed food and energy costs like natural gas and electricity are going to go way up and for people to be prepared. Gas for your car too is going up. The artificially low prices from Biden releasing all our strategic reserves, are over. So, as I’ve been saying, get ready people. It won’t be good. The shortages coming will be like nothing you’ve seen. Ask yourself what do I use daily or need to buy every week? Then make a list and then go buy the most important things on the list first. Items that come to mind after food and water are your medicines, toiletries like soap, toothpaste, shampoo, etc. How about pet food if you have a dog or cat! I could go on but you get it. Try to have some cash at home too, not sure there is a number that is too much at this point. Ok, you get it, now get to work.

Lori is Vail today and Frisco tomorrow. I have a tasting in Colorado Springs from 1 to 4 tomorrow. That means I’ll hit the road by 9 and be home close to 7. It’s a bit over 3 hours each way.

Oh, Biden was in Puerto Rico yesterday and told the crowd he was basically raised in a Puerto Rican family! Hmm, never heard that one before! Guess that means he had a Puerto Rican maid or lawn workers, ha. How anyone can go into a voting booth and pull a lever for any democrat is beyond me. Yet some misguided people who are fooled by what they see on tv, will do just that. Amazing how people are so easily swayed.

Yesterday I drove down to take Ty grocery shopping and give him some cash to hold him over until his new debit card arrives. I closed out an account and pocketed $145 from an old car loan at a credit union before they sent it to the State as abandon property. Yesterday was the deadline for me to show up and claim my money. It went into my pocket and then out to Ty, ha.

Last, if you drive, don’t let your car’s gas tank get below halfway full, you can thank me later,

God Bless.

Denver

Well, not the outcome on the game I was hoping for. Oh well. This morning I’m off to Denver. Ty had his wallet lifted yesterday while at Target downtown. I’ve told him to stay off 16th Street, now he knows why. I should be down by 9 and back by 2 at the latest, hopefully 1.

Lori decorated the house with all her Halloween gear yesterday. We brought Dixie up as they called saying she was ready to be picked up to go to the party. When Lori told her there is no party, she said, I’m going to beat the hell out of you, ha. Later in the day when Dixie was eating some chile here at the house, she looked across the table and out of nowhere, told Lori she was a slut! What the hell? Lori handled it as she should have by just laughing. Apparently, Dixie thought Lori’s shirt was showing too much cleavage. Dixie has a breast complex. She’s always commenting on people’s breasts like saying, those are big, or I want those, or something inappropriate to someone. It just comes with the disease.

We had some good rain yesterday. it came in short bursts, nothing prolonged. The colors are turning and there’s snow on the high peaks. Time to get moving as I need to be in Denver by 9 for a conference call. Have a great day, God Bless.

Broncos Raiders

Today we play the hated Raiders. If we win today, we can start calling them the Faders, ha! They’re 0 and 3 but better than that and we play them in Las Vegas, so it won’t be easy, Go Broncos!

Last night we went to Splendido with Gerry and Marcy for dinner. It’s probably the best restaurant up here. We love the Dover Sole. Lori made chili yesterday so that’s ready to go for the game. We also stopped and visited with Dixie in the afternoon. She had a pretty good day.

A couple shootings yesterday. One near the airport with two suspects who robbed a 7-11. One of them pulled a gun on police and is now dead. All over robbing a 7-11! Then there was a shooting in Boulder near CU! This is rare in Boulder. Glad Jagger is in Aspen. On Thursday another shooting in Broomfield, what the hell is going on? He was shot dead too. Good. This has to stop. Pull a gun on a cop, be prepared to die. This needs to stop.

Off to the gym this morning and then football. I have some cleaning to do around here and some work and bills to pay. Make it a great day, God Bless.

October 1st

It’s cool, but not cold, we had a little rain, but not a lot. It’s really just a perfect Fall Day. Yesterday Lori worked from 6:30 until about 9am at the hospital and then worked the rest of the day at home. I ran to the store and bought stuff to make chili today. We use sausage, hamburger and filet mignon. No beans though. It’s yummy.

Jagger is in Aspen. He went up Thursday night. Ty went to STK Restaurant last night for his friend’s birthday. Living the life, the boys are.

Not sure what Lori and I are doing today. We did make it to Costco yesterday where I bought 12 pounds more of butter for the freezer. The Kirkland and Kerrygold 2-pound packages of butter were $7.99 six months ago, now they’re both $14.99! Other things were missing. No beef broth or beef stock, only chicken. The USDA says eggs will be $12 a dozen by Thanksgiving, hmm. On top of that, natural gas is in short supply and our bills are going to at minimum double, maybe triple this winter. I don’t know how anyone can vote for anyone in power right now, good God.

We did find a little more evidence of mice in the garage so there was one more little sucker we missed. Never fear though, the huntress Lori set some traps and caught him last night. Hope that’s the end of it.

Time to go, make it a great day, God Bless.
