Not bad

They said the weather was going to be pretty crappy but looking outside right now, it’s not too bad. Maybe we’ll get a few showers this afternoon but that’s ok. Yesterday was beautiful. We headed into Vail around 4 to put in an appearance at the graduation party. The town was packed with visitors enjoying the Village and being in the mountains. You could easily tell they were all from out of town.

Earlier in the day Lori planted flowers outside to work on her sunburn. She managed to roast her shoulders and upper back to go along with her chest!

I’m trying to find the best short rib recipe right now so I can get those going. We’re having burgers and brats too. Lori made this incredible looking cheesecake last night which has been in the fridge chilling since it came out of the oven. I should put her in charge of the ribs! She’s a damn good cook. Here’s a picture to tease you, I’ll try to post the finished product tomorrow.

Last night Dixie went to a birthday party for Dr. Warren who turned 92! These guys have it going on. Living life, still of sound mind, with a senior moment here and there which anyone 90 or older has, and physically able to get up and go. So happy for her to still be moving and grooving. Wouldn’t be surprised if there was a little dancing last night too! Think Lori is going out to get her and bring her out for a few weeks or a month.

Looks crappy in Denver but as I said, blue sky with a few clouds up here. We have lots to do before Marty and Mel get here at 4:30ish. We’ll have way too much food but that’s ok, the boys will eat a lot and we’ll have leftovers. Super proud of both boys for their grades and doing so well during the past year and a half. It’s easy to underestimate or even ignore the challenges young kids faced during this whole mess. They pretty much keep their feelings to themselves and you have to pull things out of them. You also need to watch for signs of not normal behavior to make sure depression isn’t taking over. Lots of kids had a really hard time, adults too! Lucky I’m so shallow and self centered and let most everything just roll off my back like water on a duck. That way I could keep an eye on the rest of the family which includes people who work for me that I consider family too. Hopefully we’re well on our way back to normal. Now we just need Biden and his misguided brood to get out of the way. I don’t understand how people can’t see the damage he and his administration are doing to the Country. maybe they can, hope so.

That’s it, enjoy your day, be well and may God Bless and watch over you!

The long way home

Yesterday after the gym Lori and I went to Home Depot to get some flowers. We stopped at Cut, our local meat market and picked up 20 burgers for tomorrow, half regular and half truffle. We’ll freeze a few of them. Jag took off for Aspen to get his haircut. He called when he left as traffic was slow going into the canyon. We told him to cancel but he went anyhow. We checked the roads and found out the highway going east (back home) was closed due to a bad accident. Turns out it was closed all night long so he had to take the long way home. There were two choices, one back through Glenwood and then down to Rifle, north to Craig, over to Steamboat and back down through Wolcott or over Independence Pass to Twin Lakes, up through Leadville and then down to Minturn. Route 1 would have been over 4 hours and maybe more depending on the congestion in Glenwood so I told him to go over Independence. He made it pretty quick and then went to Ethan’s where he spent the night. Ty meanwhile hung out with us.

Lori had a bad headache but it’s 50% better today because I made her take a couple valiums. That shows it’s muscular. She’s been running and lifting too much at the gym. She needs to take it easy. This afternoon we’re supposed to go to a graduation party in Vail. Graduation is earlier today at Ford Amphitheater and I think Ty is going as Sonny is graduating. The weather is nice with temperatures in the mid 70’s. I’d prefer not to go as of course the Nugget’s playoff game starts at 2 and the party at 3, ugh. It’ll be fun though. There’s also the Annual Bullets and BBQ party at the range that our local gun shop puts on. After getting to play and shoot a bunch of new guns there’s an after party at the 10th Mountain Distillery. They have an auction to benefit the Green Beret Foundation. Hmm, graduation or guns, choices choices choices.

Tomorrow it’ll be a bit cooler but that’s ok. We’re grilling burgers, bison brats and putting some short ribs in the slow cooker. We’re making a few things out of Food and Wine magazine like this yummy Basque cream cheese strawberry tart. Lori has also been grilling corn on the cob lately and then putting this homemade enchilada sauce over it. Boy it’s good. Marty and Melanie are coming over, should be fun! We sure need this break. Think I’ll go fly fishing Monday if the weather is good. Time to get moving and head to the gym! Make it a great weekend and Happy Memorial Day! God Bless.

4 Days Off!

Big weekend. We need it. June on Tuesday when we come back, wow! Ty did really well on his finals with all A’s and B’s. One more presentation next Thursday of his Instagram ad for marketing and he’s all done. Thank God. The Nugget’s won, whoo hoo! The Country is travelling. People are getting back to normal. and oh, UFO’s are real and out there.

Today after I have a quick call with my buddy Adam who works for the promoter that runs all the Bocelli concerts. Then we’re off to Aspen as Jag is getting his hair cut. I need about 30 tickets across the Country for promotions and giveaways. The show in Denver is on Halloween, should be fun. Lori says we can all dress up in opera clothes, uh oh.

Nice and sunny up here and it was so warm yesterday Lori’s chest is sunburn from us sitting outside for a bit on the patio around 5pm. Once again, congrats to Ty for crushing his finals! This is a big deal as most colleges are test optional for admission next year meaning you don’t have to take the SAT or ACT this year. This puts even more importance on his grades and he had a strong year, maybe his best ever. That’s it, time to move and groove, God Bless.

Finals

Today’s the day, Ty has three finals and I think a make up math test too. Then he has one on Monday before being all done. Jagger, Lori and I will all drive him to school and then go to the gym. It’s been sunny and nice up here and should continue through the weekend. Looks cloudy down below. Lori has had a bad headache for the last few days. Hopefully it’ll go away after working out.

Not many people are wearing masks anymore. Every day less and less people seem to have them on. Hopefully soon we won’t see them at all. Not sure why anyone would still want to wear them. I haven’t worn one anywhere for about a week.

I’m avoiding politics today. I need to stop now so I don’t get sucked in. Make it a great day and go get your stuff for your Memorial Day bbq today! Stores will run out of some things. God Bless.

Hump Day

Mid way through the week, June is fast approaching. Looking a little cooler outside this morning. The dogs woke us up at 5:30. They’re worse than little kids. Lori is working in Vail today and I’m home. Ty has three finals tomorrow so he’ll be studying all day preparing. Phoebe cut my hair short yesterday. It feels and looks good but quite the difference from the mop I’ve been sporting for the past few months. Been a while since I had a haircut. I’m on day three of only eggs and avocados. I’m not really hungry and down about 5 pounds. More important to me is cleansing out my body. I need to just stay off all carbs and sugar. They don’t work for me.

I’m going to try to get started on the garage today. Think I’ll get Jag to help. Politics are still a joke. Biden is out of control. Now he’s going to hang Black Lives Matter flags at all U.S. Embassy’s. Unbelievable. Personally I believe all lives matter but saying that will get you crap these days. Thankfully the Country is beginning to push back on this shit as people have had enough. It’s inevitable for this to happen, I’m just surprised it took so long for people to speak up and push back. Think they were just scared as the small minority pushing this divisive agenda went after any and everyone who disagreed with them. Time to shut them down. And just so you know, the BLM founder has been on a luxury home buying spree in exclusive white neighborhoods for herself, nice.

That is it! Enjoy the day, it’s downhill now to the big 3 day weekend. God Bless.

trudging through the week

I’m off to Denver, Lori is off to Edwards and the boys will be here for the day. Yesterday afternoon Lori and I walked her hour long usual loop looking for her earring once again. Sadly I’m pretty sure it’s gone. Even if it was on the side of the path or road, it’d be impossible to see among the dirt and grass. Still, she refuses to give up! That’s my Lori, ha.

Lots going on at work. Our biggest challenge is getting things on ships, not selling wine. Just about everything these days is hard to get. Even the grocery stores have bare shelves. Fresh chicken is particularly hard to get. Some gas stations are out of gas and don’t even try to find a 4 X 8 sheet of plywood. Of course things from Gucci and Louis Vuitton are available and selling, crazy.

They (not sure who they are) say these shortages are just the beginning. I haven’t told Lori “told ya so” yet but she sees how supply chains are failing as they even are hitting the hospitals.

I’m on day two of sort of a self imposed cleanse for the week. I’m only eating eggs and avocado’s. Time to clean out my body of all the toxins and crap from eating basically whatever I wanted over the past year or so. Lori hates me telling her about my ever changing eating habits, ha.

Time to move and groove. They, the govt., is now saying they’re not convinced that covid started naturally, and it could have started in a lab in China, ah duh. Give me a break, right? Oh well, more crap from the people that think they own us, good God, what a mess. God Bless.

Another dinner

Last night Marty and Melanie came for dinner. They arrived around 6 and left at 8:30 to go pick up their youngest Max from church camp. Jag strolled in around 12:30 am which was news to us. He called Ty to unlock the front door I guess as I don’t think he has a key. We thought he was coming home today.

Nice and sunny outside right now. Ty has school so we’ll leave at 7:30 to take him and then I have a conference call at 9. Tomorrow I’m in Denver getting a haircut. The Av’s won the hockey game so it’s on the Round 2.

Hard to believe there’s only one week left in the month of May. Time never stops. Soon we’ll be talking Fall as in about 100 days we’ll be in the beginning of September. Live each day, right!

Have a great week, God Bless.

Fun

Jag showed up around 5 in the afternoon and Schultz, Jane and their three kids showed up a few minutes before 6. Lori had been prepping for dinner for a few hours and it paid off as usual. We had fajita’s and they were great. There was on and off rain but no problem, we still sat outside after dinner by the fire pit. Schultz brought some good Cuban cigars. Their oldest son is a year ahead of Jag at CU. Sophie is the same age as Jag and she goes to school in Florida and Margot is a year behind Ty in high school. The kids all had a blast together. We forget sometimes that they’re almost all adults. Everyone left a little after 9 including our boys. Jag dropped Ty at Sonny’s and then went back to Katie’s in Denver. So it’s Lori and I and the dogs here alone. I think Marty and Melanie are coming for dinner tonight.

So the so called pandemic has the lowest case numbers since it started. What they’re not telling you is they changed the threshold ratio which is the percentage of covid in someone’s sample to determine whether the person has covid or not. If you used this threshold as the benchmark since it started, there would have been no pandemic at all! So they’re manipulating the numbers to now say it’s going away. What a joke. More misinformation coming from D.C.

Not sure what we’re doing today. I think we’re getting Ty in Edwards sometime mid-morning. Big week of school for him with three finals on Thursday. Hope everyone is well, take care and God Bless.

Hockey anyone

Ok, I’m not the biggest hockey fan and don’t really understand most of the rules but the Colorado Avalanche sure make it fun. We won last night 5 to 1 which I think is considered a blowout. One more win tomorrow and we’re on to the next round.

Today we have a lot of work around the house before our friends Schultz, Jane and their three kids come over for dinner. Lori lost a ruby earring I gave her years ago somewhere on her walk yesterday. She’s been looking everywhere, even retracing her entire route yesterday. I think it’s gone but she’s determined. Ty is doing well and Jag comes home this afternoon for the dinner.

Last night we went to Dr. Corenman’s retirement party at The Steadman Clinic. Everyone was so glad Lori was there including Don (Dr. C). The CEO of the clinic even gave Lori the microphone and asked her to say a few words. She did well and as always, took the high road even though they didn’t really treat her right last year during covid. In the end though, it was the right move. Don even told Lori, “you made the right choice at the right time, getting out of here”. Lori is really highly respected by everyone in the clinic and the valley for her work. So many doctors and nurses gave her hugs and told her things like, “I should have hired you”, “we see Dr. Braxton’s stuff everywhere”, ” the clinic made a huge mistake letting you go” and more. It was good closure for Lori and Dr. Corenman who knows he didn’t treat her fairly. One girl from her team even gave her a card saying how sorry she was for the way things went down. So there you have it, in the end everything worked out for the best. Lori is now running the top guy in the valley who is also one of the top guys in the Country and elevating his stature and game daily. Everyone knows who she is and that she’s the best at what she does. Other Practice Managers jobs are now modeled after her as she’s set the standard. Who knew? Ha, I did.

That’s it for the day, be well, stay safe, man we love our sheets (told you about them a few weeks ago) and God Bless.

Staying home

No driving today! Thank God. Denver wasn’t bad and traffic was light. A little summer construction here and there but no big delays. Today Lori might plant some more plants but that’s about it. I’d like to clean out the garage and post some crap for sale on Eagle Moms. Amazing how people will buy other peoples crap.

Ty had his math final and thinks he did pretty well. We hope so. Haven’t heard from Jag. He’s supposed to be home tomorrow. I hope to use Marty’s truck tomorrow to clean out at least one of our storage units. Not sure what to do with some of Mom’s old furniture.

Dogs are fine, so is everyone else. I talked with Robi yesterday, she’s doing well too. The news is talking about a booster shot, ha. Good luck with that! No way after the ringing in my ears will I get another shot. Still can’t believe I had the first one. So many people I know had side effects from getting any of the three shots. Looks like that’s much more common than they want you to think. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me.

Time to go, be well, GB.
