slept in

It’s 6:31 which is really late for Lori and I. Today around 2:30 the rain is coming and before then it’s the same ol same ol, meaning work and more work. Next week the high will be in the 60’s so if you have not shut off your sprinklers, you’d better get on it as the low could be freezing.

I forgot to mention that on Monday night when the kids were going to basketball practice, our neighbor Roger, whose the minister that baptized the boys, backed into them while they were sitting in the coach’s car waiting to go to practice. Ty had a little headache (super) but seems better now. Unbelievable, maybe we’ll sue.

Guess I’ll run as we’re running so late, hope you all are all, God Bless.

So that’s what it takes

So football is what it takes to get some comments from you all! Here’s two from yesterday,

  1. Robi says:

Thanks for the birthday wishes. My friends gave me a little surprise party, we had a pinata, it was way fun! Yep beware of the Cardinals! Uncle Tom if you are reading this I haven’t forgotten about your Cardinal hat – hehe! Anyone else want some Cardinal gear?

  2. Annette says:

After the game last night I don’t think it is our year. Happy Birthday Robi but no thanks on the Cardinals gear. I think we will be crying a lot this year. Go Giants!!!!!!!!!!!!

That’s what I love about football, it brings people together. In fact, sports in general have so many good qualities that often go unnoticed. They not only unite people in a common goal, (everyone cheering for their team) but they also are one of the few non scripted forms of entertainment we have that bring is up and down in a moments notice. But best of all is that they provide a distraction or momentary relief from all the crazy stuff going on in our lives. I often say the only thing tv is good for is sports and movies. You can just about throw it away other than that. So good luck to the Cardinals and to the San Francisco Baseball Giants and of course, to the Denver Bronco’s! Watch out though for those Kansas City Royals as they seem to be this years cinderella team.

Yesterday Ty had his first basketball practice and Jag had 80’s day at school. Some of the kids dressed up, including Jagger, as he’s on student council. He wore some black pants with combat boots (Lori’s) and one of my Rolling Stone t-shirts from 30 years ago. Throw in a mow-hawk hair doo, and he was all set.

When both boys arrived home, the neighbor kids were all making a giant pile of leaves to run and jump in so I let the boys play outside before homework. After all, kids need some playtime and I’m all for outside physical play instead of video games.

Lori was slammed all day as was I. She has her big Think Pink (breast cancer event) Thursday and I have so much to do it’d take an hour to sort of explain it. Today we both have more of the same.

Rain tomorrow and then sun and mid 70’s back for the weekend. That’s about it, hope it stays nice through Halloween. Take care and God Bless.

Sorry 9er fans

Well the Bronco’s sure look good. Last night Peyton threw for 4 more td passes and now holds the record of 510 touchdown passes in the NFL. That’s pretty darn amazing.

Yesterday before the game we headed down from Vail and then Jagger had his second to last baseball game. He played short stop, outfield and pitched. He’s sure becoming a good player. Meanwhile Lori was putting up Halloween decorations in the front yard and on the house. Hard to believe it’s the 20th of October. 65 days until Christmas!

Outside these days it’s raining leaves as fall is for sure here. It’ll be back in the mid 70’s this week but soon I’m sure the snow will arrive so enjoy it while you can.

Lot’s to do today and I mean lots! Both Lori and I have a busy busy week. The Bronco’s play again Thursday and Lori has a huge Breast Cancer event this week at the office. Jag and Ty both have a few things going on too and then Halloween is a week from Friday.

It’s also Aunt Robi’s birthday this week on the 23rd! Happy Birthday week!

Time to get some coffee and get everyone up and moving. Hope everyone is well and for you 49r fans, at least Seattle lost, it looks like Arizona is who you should worry about!

God Bless

A great day, especially if you’re a kid!

We woke up around 7am which is late for us. Then after taking the big dog for a walk, it was time for breakfast. The 30 degree weather felt good on my face and helped get me moving. Pancakes and bacon were the meal du jour. By the time we took showers (just the adults) it was 9:30 or so. We loaded up and headed for Eagle to go to Costco. About 10 minutes after we started on our journey, I realized I forgot some paperwork so we turned around and headed back to pick it up. By the time we arrived to pick up the papers I needed, the three youngest boys decided they wanted to stay. So Jag, Lori and I took off again for Eagle.

We hit Costco and saw my client and then did some shopping as well. Next up was a stop at my buddy’s gun shop as he was having a 50% off sale as he’s been out with bad orthopedic issues and has back surgery coming up next month and is closing down the shop. After that we headed back to get the kids for lunch.

Next up, after I walked Mojo, was the trip into Vail for lunch at my friends Steve and Elisabetta’s restaurant. Turns out today was their 32nd anniversary. We then headed up town by the gondola to the Pirate Park where the kids played for a good hour. Then it was off to ice cream, yum.

We then headed back to the ranch and Lori took the boys and Mojo for a long long walk. It was so long the boys and Mojo are all limping and sore. Around 6pm we headed out for dinner at another clients restaurant. That was fun and then off to the ranch by about 8:30. Throw in a few hours of electronics after that and a good nights sleep and now we’re off to Denver.

Hope all’s well with everyone. Take care and God Bless and Go Broncos!

Yea, the weekend

Thank God it’s the weekend! We think weekends should actually be 3 days long, this 2 day stuff is outdated as by the time you get in the swing of it, it’s time to go back to work.

We headed up to the mountains around 6pm last night which had us arriving around 8pm. With Mojo and two extra kids in tow (for a total of four) we finally were settled by a bit before 9pm. I ordered pizza for the kids while Lori set up Mojo’s new crate in the garage. After that she took Mojo for a walk up the hill until she came upon a fresh deer leg! She then said she felt eyes on her from a large kitty cat or mountain lion so she ran down the hill with Mojo in tow. I’ll have to go up there today to see just how fresh the leg is but mountain lions are quite common all over the state as they really have no natural predators.

The 2nd rifle season (hunting) starts today in Colorado and I hope to hunt the 4th which will be more like mid November. We’ll see how my schedule goes but there sure were lots of hunters with their rigs packed full driving up the highway last night. It’s getting darker earlier in the mountains these days so by about 7pm we were in the thick of it. By the time I ran into Whole Foods in Frisco for some eggs, bacon and milk, the stars were twinkling brightly above. Lori says next week daylight savings time ends and we fall back (meaning set the clocks back an hour) and it’ll start getting dark by 6 or earlier.

Today I need to visit the liquor store at Costco in Eagle which is about 30 miles west. I brought up some samples for them and hopefully they’ll turn into a really good customer. There’s some Mexican’s down there that are roasting fresh hatch green chili peppers from New Mexico that we also want to get to throw into the freezer for the winter. Can’t have good pork green chili without real fresh, not canned, green chili’s! After that, or before, we’ll take the kids for a hike up some mountain to burn off some energy. We also need to continue looking for a used dresser somewhere so we’ll again hit the consignment stores looking for something cheap.

The temperature is nice and cool up here, in the high 20’s or low 30’s now,  and it’ll be sunny and in the mid 60’s today which is just about perfect. It’s now about 7am and I think all the kids are still sleeping. Ty seems to be fine this morning and thanks for your prayers Eleanor. He still had a sore head yesterday so he must have bonked it pretty well and maybe had some sort of mild concussion. Hopefully his pain will be all gone today. Whoa nelly, they’re all up except for Jag who sleeps like a teenager these days.

Ski season officially started yesterday which reminds me that today I also need to take the boys and rent their snowboard boots for the season before they’re all sold out for the year. That’s about it, time to get moving as I’m sure the kids will be looking for some food pretty soon. Take care and God Bless.

Running late

It’s after 7am and we’ve been messing around all morning trying to get Jagger’s story to print. On top of that he can’t find his backpack and Ty yesterday at Field Day was hit in the head with a metal bar and has had a bad headache all night long and still this morning. We can’t handle anymore medical bills so not sure what we’ll do.

I don’t have anytime to write anymore, sorry, have a good day,

God Bless

Field Day

Today Ty has his annual Field Day at school. The kids participate in athletic events all day long. I’ll head over around 9:30 to see how he’s doing. I’m sure he’ll end up with a bunch of ribbons today as he’s pretty athletic.

Yesterday I made it back from Vail after sitting in traffic due to a helicopter moving some power poles or something and blocking the highway. After school Jagger went up to Grandma’s to ride his motorcycle as the pasture had dried out enough so it wasn’t so muddy anymore.

The colors in the mountains are still there although the north facing slopes now have a base layer of snow on them. Even though it was 60 degrees or so, we drove back through some icy snow here and there.

Lori has a big day as usual and so do I but I’ll try to take my laptop and do it from school so I can watch Mr. Ty a bit.

How about the stock market! In one week it lost all its gains for the year and todays futures are down 200 points. They say if it drops below 15,000 points, go buy a bunch of food. At one point it was down 460 points yesterday, not good.

No more politics, that’s it. I think (hope) everyone knows whats going on out there and hopefully knows what to do. Time to run, it’s now 6am and I need to get moving around here. Take care and God Bless.

Big night out

Yesterday was a mad rush. The day flew by and then once I picked up the boys from school, we sped downtown to get them both haircuts. At 5pm we made it home and before we could blink, it was 5:55. I had dished up dinner only to realize we had no time to eat. Lori made it home miraculously at 5:45 and then had to rush right out to pick up the dry cleaning with Jag’s white shirt. Then at 6:07 we all jumped in the car to pick up Grandma to head out to Jagger’s music concert.

Thankfully we arrived early as they ran out of seats in the auditorium. The concert started at 7pm with Jag and the 51 piece band. Next up was the choir of probably 25 people and then the show closed with the orchestra. They were really quite good for 7th and 8th graders. The band was flawless and the choir was like out of the Sound of Music movie.

So at 7:45 we all shuffled out and jumped in the car, except for Grandma who I had to lift up into the suburban. By the time we dropped off Grandma, we arrived home about 8:15. Jag looked sharp as usual and played well.

It’s 4:30am now and I’m headed to the gym before going to Vail at 8am. I should be back by noon or so as Lori needs to work late. It should be 83 here today and if so, that’ll be a new record. Pretty warm for October 15th.

That’s it people, take care, wash your hands and stay well. God Bless

Music concert tonight!

At 6:30pm this evening Jagger has his first music concert of the year. Thankfully it’s at his school and not on a night when the Bronco’s are playing which it was the past two years.

It was a nice fall day yesterday with a mix of warmth and crisp cool air. Today is more of the same but maybe a little bit warmer into the 70’s. Tomorrow it’ll be 82 they say. I have to run to Vail tomorrow so it’ll be a good day to travel.

Lori’s head was a bit better night last so she said but this morning her headache is back. I too have one so maybe it’s the heat in the house or something.

Last night was taco night here and everybody chowed down. The 49rs won last night and will play us next Sunday night. I hate those night games and now we have two in a row. The kids and Lori will stay home as you just get home too late.

Hope you all are well, remember to wash your hands and as a former physician, (I played one in college and sometimes here at home) you should also be taking extra vitamin C and D in the winter.

Take care and God Bless.

An incredible sky

This morning as the sun is about to rise, you can see shades of blue sky with white patches of clouds all dotted with the stars shinning through. It’s that point of the day where the line between day and night is impossible to detect. Each sunrise or beginning of the day is like a new start. I’m not sure how many of you are up at this point of the day but it’s worth seeing, especially in the fall as the position of the moon in the sky along with the changing season make for something special.

Yesterday was a cool fall day and this morning there are a few patches of very light frost. Yet by Wednesday they say it’ll be 82 degrees here. I’d think this will be the last week of any summer like temperatures as you can tell fall is here with winter on its heels.

Ty and Jack ran, or should I say, walked and played their way through the race course while Jag and I stayed home. After that we did some things around the house and watched the Bronco’s until it was time for Jag’s baseball game. We drove over in the rain only to get a call as we were pulling in saying the game had been cancelled. So we turned around and headed home.

It’s 5:50am now and Jag just joined me on the couch. Hard to believe it’s already mid October. We’re all back at it with school and work and lots to do. Hope you all are well, wash your hands and stay away from sick people. I saw an interview with a well known doctor last night that recommended not shaking hands anymore. Instead she suggested fist or elbow bumping as when you shake hands you’re more likely to then touch your eyes or mouth. What an ever changing world we live in. Take care and God Bless.
