Thank God it’s the weekend! We think weekends should actually be 3 days long, this 2 day stuff is outdated as by the time you get in the swing of it, it’s time to go back to work.
We headed up to the mountains around 6pm last night which had us arriving around 8pm. With Mojo and two extra kids in tow (for a total of four) we finally were settled by a bit before 9pm. I ordered pizza for the kids while Lori set up Mojo’s new crate in the garage. After that she took Mojo for a walk up the hill until she came upon a fresh deer leg! She then said she felt eyes on her from a large kitty cat or mountain lion so she ran down the hill with Mojo in tow. I’ll have to go up there today to see just how fresh the leg is but mountain lions are quite common all over the state as they really have no natural predators.
The 2nd rifle season (hunting) starts today in Colorado and I hope to hunt the 4th which will be more like mid November. We’ll see how my schedule goes but there sure were lots of hunters with their rigs packed full driving up the highway last night. It’s getting darker earlier in the mountains these days so by about 7pm we were in the thick of it. By the time I ran into Whole Foods in Frisco for some eggs, bacon and milk, the stars were twinkling brightly above. Lori says next week daylight savings time ends and we fall back (meaning set the clocks back an hour) and it’ll start getting dark by 6 or earlier.
Today I need to visit the liquor store at Costco in Eagle which is about 30 miles west. I brought up some samples for them and hopefully they’ll turn into a really good customer. There’s some Mexican’s down there that are roasting fresh hatch green chili peppers from New Mexico that we also want to get to throw into the freezer for the winter. Can’t have good pork green chili without real fresh, not canned, green chili’s! After that, or before, we’ll take the kids for a hike up some mountain to burn off some energy. We also need to continue looking for a used dresser somewhere so we’ll again hit the consignment stores looking for something cheap.
The temperature is nice and cool up here, in the high 20’s or low 30’s now, Â and it’ll be sunny and in the mid 60’s today which is just about perfect. It’s now about 7am and I think all the kids are still sleeping. Ty seems to be fine this morning and thanks for your prayers Eleanor. He still had a sore head yesterday so he must have bonked it pretty well and maybe had some sort of mild concussion. Hopefully his pain will be all gone today. Whoa nelly, they’re all up except for Jag who sleeps like a teenager these days.
Ski season officially started yesterday which reminds me that today I also need to take the boys and rent their snowboard boots for the season before they’re all sold out for the year. That’s about it, time to get moving as I’m sure the kids will be looking for some food pretty soon. Take care and God Bless.
Thanks for the birthday wishes. My friends gave me a little surprise party, we had a pinata, it was way fun! Yep beware of the Cardinals! Uncle Tom if you are reading this I haven’t forgotten about your Cardinal hat – hehe! Anyone else want some Cardinal gear?
After the game last night I don’t think it is our year. Happy Birthday Robi but no thanks on the Cardinals gear. I think we will be crying a lot this year. Go Giants!!!!!!!!!!!!
That’s what I love about football, it brings people together. In fact, sports in general have so many good qualities that often go unnoticed. They not only unite people in a common goal, (everyone cheering for their team) but they also are one of the few non scripted forms of entertainment we have that bring is up and down in a moments notice. But best of all is that they provide a distraction or momentary relief from all the crazy stuff going on in our lives. I often say the only thing tv is good for is sports and movies. You can just about throw it away other than that. So good luck to the Cardinals and to the San Francisco Baseball Giants and of course, to the Denver Bronco’s! Watch out though for those Kansas City Royals as they seem to be this years cinderella team.
Yesterday Ty had his first basketball practice and Jag had 80’s day at school. Some of the kids dressed up, including Jagger, as he’s on student council. He wore some black pants with combat boots (Lori’s) and one of my Rolling Stone t-shirts from 30 years ago. Throw in a mow-hawk hair doo, and he was all set.
When both boys arrived home, the neighbor kids were all making a giant pile of leaves to run and jump in so I let the boys play outside before homework. After all, kids need some playtime and I’m all for outside physical play instead of video games.
Lori was slammed all day as was I. She has her big Think Pink (breast cancer event) Thursday and I have so much to do it’d take an hour to sort of explain it. Today we both have more of the same.
Rain tomorrow and then sun and mid 70’s back for the weekend. That’s about it, hope it stays nice through Halloween. Take care and God Bless.
