A nice cold fall day

It came as advertised, cool, misty and rainy. It really didn’t rain per se, it just kind of misted all day but it was enough to soak the roads and get you wet if you were out in it for any length of time. We were busy all day with Lori at school and me here and there and on the phone and computer. After school I had to run to a couple of grocery stores for some supplies for the Halloween parties this week at school. Then I went back out to get Mister Ty some new snow boots for $60! I don’t know where they get off charging $60 for size 5 kids boots, although they are nice boots. Then Ty had basketball practice until 7pm and Lori had to go to a school meeting for 6th grade continuation which is another word for graduation.

Lori’s arm is really sore and she’s losing strength and coordination meaning were almost for sure looking at surgery. We thought we had an appointment today but its tomorrow. Hopefully we’ll find something out!

I’m off to the gym and then Jag has inter-murals again this morning. I’m not a big fan as I have to cut my morning workout short or get up at 4:30 to be back in time to take him at 7am. I am glad though that he’s into it as it is extra exercise which is always good.

No politics today, I’m trying hard. Take care, hope everyone is well and let us know what you’re dressing up as for Halloween. And we don’t want to hear that you’re not dressing up! Do something crazy and fun and let the inner you come out, put on a costume!

God Bless

Cold weather a coming

If you live in Colorado, get out your coats and snow boots. This morning I took Jag to McDonalds for a rare visit to get a Egg McMuffin and Hot Cakes and Sausage for Ty. You can feel it in the air and it feels good!

Yesterday we were off to the Bronco game around 12:30 with Jeff and Tina. It started out a little shaky and then turned into a rout with us winning by 20 some points. On my phone I saw an email saying Lou Reed dies yesterday. This is a big loss as he was truly a pioneer in music and shaped many peoples lives, we all remember a Lou Reed song or two from growing up.

Tomorrow we go to see the misses doc and hopefully will get a referral for some more injections to hopefully relieve her pain.

It’s now 7:30 so time to run, hope everyone is well, have a great week.

A fun party(s)

The day flew by and before we knew it, it was time to go to the party. We dropped Jag in his best vampire regalia at his party around 6:30 and then headed down the street 6 blocks to our party. I’m going to turn this over to the misses as I can’t begin to describe it. In short, it must have taken a month to get everything decorated. Every where you look the house was full of Halloween stuff. Before Lori takes over, here’s a comment from yesterday,

Annette says:

BIG BROTHER IS WATCHING! Most CA schools students can’t wear costumes or have Halloween parties (It’s pagan you know). I think if I was a college student I would dress as a cowboy or indian and have all my friends do the same. Are you not in college to rebel? What are they going to do kick you out and get sued?

Annette is so right here, watch out as Christmas (Jesus and/or Santa) will soon be outlawed, wonder which one will be targeted first! Here’s Lori…

Walking up to the house the front lawn was turned into a graveyard with tall slender wooden crosses that were lighted up from the base with haunting bluish white lights. On the steps to the front door there were creepy carved pumpkins purple up lights in the pots with dried branches and many crows. To the left of the front door was a life size mummy with glowing blue eyes. Upon entering Ty and Aime’s house she had a back drop of a haunted house, branches with more black crows, spiderwebs and the prettiest display of assorted candies you’ve ever seen. Aime hung white sheets over furniture and her walls with sayings like. “Trick or Treat,” “REDRUM,” amongst other creative print. The living room ceiling was adorned with shredded black tulle and the adult bar had a bowl full of red jello shots in syringes, a creepy red punch and a set of golden science beakers of a shot of something. She had a mannequin dressed in a costume including a black hooded robe..the costume was so detailed that I may ask to borrow it someday! They had a tented lounge in the backyard equipped with a comfy couch and a game table.

The basement was set up for all of the kiddos…clementines peeled with a celery stem sticking out to look like mini pumpkins, bananas cut in half standing up with chocolate chips for a face to make ghosts, a treat station to fill a gift bag and take it home, haunted cupcakes and at least 15 pizzas.

Most impressive… the photo both they rented. A real photo booth that takes three fast pictures behind a curtain. There was so much more…I’ll see if I can upload some pictures.

If you are going to a party…go to the event planners party!

Take care..god bless

Scary Saturday

Last night Jag went to the Zombie Haunted House with 4 friends about 6pm.  I picked him up at 10pm from his friends house. I guess it was pretty scary. Their group had a guide to get them through who was part of the whole thing and the 2 boys and 3 girls were led through a maze of zombies, ghosts and other creatures in the dark. He said he wasn’t scared much but I could tell some of the things stuck with him. Personally I don’t like scary things like haunted houses or even scary movies. Tonight he has another party at some girl from schools house. All the kids will be wearing their costumes to this one. Meanwhile Mom, Ty and I are supposed to go to a Halloween party of our own but I have no idea what to wear. Then of course tomorrow we have the Broncos game. I’ll probably have to go as a cowboy while the misses has a bunch of things to choose from.

Speaking of Halloween, yesterday the University of Colorado (and no this isn’t really politics) said students cannot dress up as cowboys, indians or wear a sombrero of any kind. Are you freaking kidding me? Now we have a public university telling 18 to 23 year old kids what they can and cannot be for Halloween? Unbelievable, I’m speechless. I must have been a cowboy and indian a bunch of times when I was a kid. I even think I wore a sombrero once too! When and where is this silliness going to stop. What’s next, no Christmas trees or presents? You already can’t display baby Jesus and the manger scene in any public places. It’s really hard to believe how far we’ve come in the wrong direction as a society. Sorry, I guess this borders on politics a little but it’s just us as a people as a whole being stupid, no Dem or GOP thing here, it’s all of them. Nothing surprises me anymore.

Here’s a comment from the birthday girl (her b-day was the 23rd),

robi says:

WOW – doesn’t sound good for the misses, maybe the other doctors will come up with something for her to try that is less invasive. Yes Douglas, I agree with you but you need to relax or you are gonna have a seizure!!!!!

Don’t worry about me, I don’t get that upset about things, just like to write about them. Yes we’re praying we can get the misses some relief. When she’s in visible pain, you know it hurts as she normally doesn’t complain. Oh oh, there’s a 3 year old dressed up as a cowgirl on tv at a Bass Pro Shop event, hope she doesn’t get in trouble!

Last it was Robins birthday on the 23rd. Sorry I forgot to mention it, hope it was great.

It’s been beautiful here with temps in the 60’s and cool at night. We’re getting ready to re-tile the kitchen nook soon in our never ending effort to fix this place up. I’m trying to figure out how to come up with the cash to insulate the attic ($2000, uggh) so it won’t be so cold upstairs this winter and so our power bills will be lower, will see.

Time to run, hope everyone is well, take care and God Bless.

Freaky Friday

We’re supposed to go to a Halloween Party tomorrow but have no idea what to dress up as. Jag will be with a bunch of kids at the Zombie Haunted House so it’ll be Ty, Lori and I.

How did you like yesterdays post? There’s a few choices, you either don’t agree, are in denial, or maybe you do agree (like Annette) or can’t type or figure out how to comment. I can’t think of many other choices, oh, maybe you don’t read anymore, ha ha!

Here’s out one and only comment from our number 1 interactive reader, Annette,

Annette says:

If you are a history buff at all you could see the writings on the wall 10 yrs. ago. We just keep hoping things will get better (they won’t). Everyone thinks their country is going to be the one to last forever but the system is so broken it can’t be fixed. The revolution is coming and it’s not going to be pretty. I feel sorry for our grandchildren and our great grandchildren. Ok I’m going to get off my soap box now. I am trying to live each day as it comes and do the best I can with it. I love hearing everything you all are doing. I hope something works for Lori and all of you take care.

Thanks as always, now to Lori. We had the EMG test yesterday, boy is she tough! This is where they stick needles into your arms and then send electrical current to the nerve and record the results. Short story is she has one screwed up neck that appears to be 40+ years older than it is. He doesn’t know if she should have surgery as he just does the nerve tests but he said he’s seen necks like hers fuse themselves and others that need to be fused through surgery. She has a little weakness in her left arm but not enough so he’d say surgery right now! We go see our Denver doctor (surgeon) next Tuesday and then our Vail doctor November 12th. The important thing now is to try to get rid of the headache. It appears to be the 5th and 6th disc that are causing the weakness and loss of feeling in parts of her arm. The problem though is if you go in to fuse, where do you start and more importantly, where do you stop! The doctor today said you don’t want to go in and have 2 discs fused and then have to go back a year later and have to have more done. In theory, to make sure we get it, she could have 4 or 5 discs fused! She could then still look left and right but not up and down. I think if we can get rid of the headache, we’ll hang for a bit and see if it gets worse, of course we need to see what our two doctors say first. So, there you have it, lots happening here. How’s that for no politics, we can just talk necks for a while.

I could write more but I feel some political musings coming on so time to go!

Take care and God Bless.

Here we go

The day flew by, I ran to our friends house where the dinner was last night to drop off the gifts, then it was back home to get the kids, then back across town on another errand. Finally I was home by 2 or so. Meanwhile the misses was trying to rest and the boys were playing, what’s new.

We worked and hung out the rest of the day and then threw together some leftovers for dinner. Spaghetti for me, ramen for the boys and I’m not sure what Lori had.

We spent some time trying to figure out what the next few months will entail and how we’re going to get through them. Lots of things happening. We are trying to prepare the best we can for winter, kind of like they did decades ago, get our food stocks up, (buy in bulk) somehow insulate the house, make sure the kids have snow boots and gear that fits, pay the taxes and bills, then there’s Christmas, and so on.

Lots has changed since I was a kid and I’m sure even more so for those of you that are older than I. You see, we are simply not the same country that we used to be.  Americans are proud, selfish, greedy, arrogant, ungrateful, treacherous and completely addicted to convenience, entertainment and pleasure.  Our country is literally falling apart all around us, but most Americans are so plugged into entertainment that they can’t even be bothered to notice what is happening. Am I off base here? I don’t think so.

Perhaps some of you don’t want to hear this or don’t believe it. I sincerely hope it’s the former rather than the latter as you’d have to be really isolated (trying to be politically correct here) not to believe life as we knew it, has certainly changed.

So, I’m going to do you all a favor now and stop trying to convince you of what I or we think is coming. If you don’t get it by now, you probably don’t want to hear it which is natural, (nobody likes to hear about bad things) so I’ll let it go. So moving forward I’ll try to refrain from political posts and the such unless I really think there is an imminent threat to your safety. I’ll try to focus on the kids and happy things as there’s enough bad stuff in the papers and on the news. But in closing, know it’s coming, things have changed, they will change even more, and not for the better. It’s not as bad if you just face it head on like any problem or issue, just cowboy up and tackle it head on! I post all this stuff as we’re worried for those we care about who we feel are not aware of how things are going to change in the future. But alas, I can’t make you believe it if you don’t want to so in closing, check this out before we go,

I don’t know if you like Ron Paul but he’s a pretty straight shooter who has been around for a long long time. Check out his thoughts,

“You know, the day before, the month before, the year before, if someone would have said, ‘Oh, you know, next year,’ the Soviet system would be gone, everybody would have considered that person nuts.

But it was fragile, and it fell apart, and quickly, and thank goodness we didn’t have to have a nuclear war in order to get rid of the Soviet system.”

“We’re probably in 1987, like the Soviets in ’87, in two years they were gone…”

Just think how quickly the Soviet system disappeared. (Almost) nobody saw it coming.

Former congressman Ron Paul recently spoke the words quoted above, and said he sees the “bust coming soon.”

“They’re (the government) not going to work their way out of it, so it’s just going to collapse,”

“I think we should anticipate that, you know, in the future…
like in the next several years, you’re going to see a big, big collapse,”

“It’s hard to predict the timing,” Paul said, “but I think I agree… that it will end…”

I look at it like a building standing with no foundation. It’s sort of sitting there and wobbling, but it hasn’t crashed, and I think it will, because you know, the financial system is so unstable…

It’s totally based on debt, and confidence in the dollar and confidence in the Federal Reserve, that they’ll always print the right amount of money and they’ll always keep the interest rates right, and they’ll always bail out everybody that needs bailed out – which I think is a total hoax…

-Ron Paul interviewing with infowars.com

The big event could occur next week, or it could occur five years from now, but especially whenever the dollar is no longer credible as a reserve – or primary – currency.

People are losing faith in their government…

They’re seeing the 2-party system for what it really is (two sides of the same coin.)

They’re seeing the manipulated economic numbers which don’t make sense with what they are really experiencing at home.

They see the government lying to them, and spying on them.

They’re seeing an increased police state.

They’re seeing more and more rights being attacked by the government, especially those related to privacy, freedom of speech, and firearms.

They see other nation blocks establishing their own currency trade and moving away from the dollar for goods and transactions (China-Russia-Brazil-Iran, and many more.)

They see the many tens of billions of dollars being printed into (debt) existence each month just to keep the system afloat.

They are seeing the writing on the wall, and they (we) instinctively know that this ship is going down…

So take this for what it is, but please, think for yourself, stop trusting what you read and watch on the boob tube, before it’s too late, and oh yea, God Bless (better get right with him if you’re not already!)

You all are no fun

No comments yesterday? We thought it was a pretty revealing post. Hopefully everyone was just too busy to say “I agree”.

Ok, let’s get back to our day. First off I ran across town to drop some wine at our friend Colleen’s house for the Women’s Foundation Dinner which is tonight at her house. The guest this year is Ugly Betty, or America Ferrera which is her real name. I think Lori and I are going to pass on dinner tonight as we just aren’t up for it. Tomorrow is the 2000 women lunch with “Betty” also but the misses is skipping that too. We do need to drop off 100 packages of eye cream that Lori is donating to the VIP’s to get the skin care line some exposure.

After that I took the good looking one to acupuncture. I dropped her off and then ran over to Dr Rodgers office to pick up the eye cream for the donation. After a quick stop at the grocery store I made it back a couple of minutes before she was through. It seemed to help a little bit which we’re happy about. We made it home around 1:30 and soon it was time to pick up the kids.

Everyone had a good day at school. Jag is lobbying hard to go on the 6th grade trip to Washington D.C. and Williamsburg Virginia next May. I guess its like $2000 and low and behold, we’re supposed to pay by October 31st! We just can’t afford this but don’t be surprised if you get a call from the misses on his behalf! I’m sure it’ll be a great trip and very educational. Washington D.C. is a great place full of history that everyone should see sometime in their life. We’ll see.

Hope all’s well, take care and God Bless.

Back at it,

Alright, here we are facing another week, they seem to come and go fast these days. I started off yesterday with a gym trip (what’s new) and then ran Jag to inter-murals only to be met by Lori at the front door telling me to go right back and get him as they didn’t have inter-murals until Tuesday! Off I went back to school and then took off 45 minutes later with both boys in tow.

I ran a few errands in the morning and then was on the computer working up pricing for various markets across the country. Prior to that of course, I had my Monday morning conference call.

Meanwhile the good looking one was off to school to grade papers and then to Bed Bath and Beyond to return some things. We crossed paths finally around 3:30 pm for the first time since the morning.

Now to the news of the day. This is where those of you that don’t enjoy my musings can tune out! I promise though, you might learn something and I’ll be gentle.

First up, sometimes it’s easier to understand things when they are compared to things in our every day life. Check this out and see if you can relate,

Lesson 1

US Tax Revenue $2,170,000,000,000

Fed Budget         $3,820,000,000,000

New Debt           $1,650,000,000,000

National Debt   $14,271,000,000,000

Recent Budget Cuts $38,500,000,000

Let’s now remove 8 zeros and pretend it’s a household budget…

Annual Family Income $21,700

Money They Spent        $38,200

New Debt on the Credit Card $16,500

Outstanding Balance on the Credit Card $142,710

Total Budget Cuts So Far $38,500

Got It So Far?

Lesson 2

Here’s another way to look at the debt ceiling

Let’s say,  You come home from work and find there has been a sewer backup in your neighborhood…….. and your home has sewage all the way up to your ceilings………

What do you think you should do,

Raise the ceilings or remove the shit?

Get it, I hope so as my kids are not going to be happy when they grow up and find out how much of their money we spent on crap that didn’t do a damn thing!

So that pretty much sums it up. I could go on about the train wreck known as Obama Care but it’s doing more harm to itself than anyone could. I didn’t agree with the GOP trying to stop it as it’s so bad on its own, they should have just let it play out. Doesn’t look so good now no matter which side you’re on.

In closing, sometimes I feel like I’m beating a dead horse (who comes up with these sayings? I mean who ever beat a dead horse…. and why?) but you’d better get ready for some changes in your life as things are going to get much worse before they’ll get better. Don’t believe me, still have your head in the sand? Don’t take my word for it, our own gov tells us were headed for a big correction and then there’s guys like Warren Buffet and others sounding alarm bells as well.

There now, that wasn’t too bad was it? I thought the debt ceiling lesson was entertaining. Oh well, that’s it for the day, take care and God Bless.

What can you do?

Well as I’m sure you all know, the Broncos lost a close one last night. This is despite the flat out bad officiating for the entire game. But like I said, no one will remember the bad calls, only the loss. So time to cowboy up and move on and come back strong next week. See how that works!

Yesterday Jag and I left around 10 for baseball. It was a long cold game against a clearly superior team. It was so bad we looked like the Bad News Bears from the movie. We even had a 9 year old (it’s a 12 year old league) who’d never played, playing for us so we had 9 players. It was pretty comical but the kids played their best which is all you can ask for. I think we have a game next week but we’ll see, we just might be done.

The boys played hard for the rest of the day until dinner and then bed. I tried to keep the misses quiet on the couch but she made dinner and other stuff.

Here in Denver a mother with her 1 year old was stabbed at 12:30 yesterday afternoon at a light rail (train) station during a robbery. We just don’t know what’s going on these days. People are really really desperate and violent crime is up. I only mention this as if this can happen in the middle of the day to a young mother with her baby in a stroller, it can happen to anyone. You’ve got to be aware and be careful! I’ll leave it at that.

It’s 5:10 and Jag has inter-murals so I need to run to get to the gym to get back in time to take him. Hope all’s well, take care and God Bless.

Last baseball game

Today is Jag’s last game of fall ball. This is good news as he really doesn’t like this team and didn’t want to go but he signed up, so he’s going. Yesterday we went to the corn maze instead of the zombie thing. I think a Mom from school is taking Jag and 5 other kids next weekend.

As Lori said, the boys played and played, what’s new. Finally we all wound down around 7 for some tv and we went to bed around 9 leaving the two guys downstairs to watch some more tv. It’s 5:42 now and everyone else is sleeping. We’ll leave at 10 for baseball while Ty and Mom stay home. The misses head is still killing her.

It’s nice and cool outside with leaves blowing everywhere. This evening we’re supposed to get a rain snow mix. That’s about it, guess I’ll go you know where, the gym. Take care, God Bless you and God Bless Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos who play tonight!
