Jacked up knee

Well I’ve been doing too much and jacked my knee up a bit so time to take it easy. Mrs. Rossi across the street reminded me that 2 months is nothing in the healing process for knee surgery and I need to rest. I replied life goes on and my mortgage company doesn’t really care if my knee hurts or not. She said he leg hurts and asked how my Mom was and I said she should call her as her leg hurts too!

It’s still hot, mid 90’s today. Yesterday the boys and I went up to Boulder to get our vegetables and some more food while the misses was downtown at work. The rest of the day was spent with some playing and a movie and resting on the couch, at least for me.

The summer is almost gone as every week and weekend from now until September is booked solid. Life sure goes fast, if you don’t believe me, just think back on the last year or two in your life and how fast it went. A shocker for me was that I was talking to someone yesterday and realized that my dad has been gone almost 3 years now! Wow, don’t waste a single day people, you can’t get it back!

We need to try to find something fun to do today for the kiddos. The oldest just came down with a side ache and from sleeping the wrong way. The news shows this morning are talking about the Pres coming on tv yesterday saying he could have been Trevyon, give me a freakin break. Only in the Obummer administration would a Pres come out and undermine a court case suggesting racist bias where a guy was already found not guilty by a jury. Guilty or not, he was tried, found innocent and that should be the end of it. Otherwise what is our justice system? Can we go back and change a verdict anytime some people don’t agree with it? On top of that, this whole thing was singled out and then pushed forward by the administration. Florida originally was not going to prosecute but then the feds stepped in and said yes you are and appointed a special prosecutor. Look if you don’t like a law (like the stand your ground law which didn’t even apply here) you need to elect different representatives and then change the law. Speaking of my dad, who stood for fairness and justice and the rule of law more than anyone you or I have ever known, he would be shaking his head in disbelief at what’s going on these days. Ok, just for fun, let’s try looking at this from a different angle, just for a minute, (that’s what my dad would say) and then see if we feel the same way.

You won’t recognize me. My name was Antonio West. I was the 13-month old child who was shot at point blank range by two teens who were attempting to rob my mother, who was also shot. A Grand Jury of my mommy’s peers from Brunswick GA determined the teens who murdered me will not face the death penalty…too bad I was given a death sentence for being innocent and defenseless.

My family made the mistake of being white in a 73% non-white neighborhood, but my murder was not ruled a Hate Crime. Nor did President Obama take so much as a single moment to acknowledge my murder.

I am one of the youngest murder victims in our great Nation’s history, but the media doesn’t care to cover the story of my tragic demise, President Obama has no children who could possibly look like me - so he doesn’t care and the media doesn’t care because my story is not interesting enough to bring them ratings so they can sell commercial time
slots.

There is not a white equivalent of Al Sharpton because if there was he would surely & rightfully be declared a racist hate monger, so there is no one rushing to Brunswick GA to demand justice for me. There is no White Panther party to put a bounty on the lives of those who murdered me. I have no voice, I have no representation and unlike those who shot me in the face while I sat innocently in my stroller – I no longer have my life.

So while you are seeking justice for Treyvon, please remember to seek justice for me too.
Tell your friends about me, tell your families, get tee shirts with my face on them and make the world pay attention, just like you did for Treyvon. But it won’t happen, primarily due to the socially enforced doctrine of political correctness & Liberal guilt that is imposed by politically correct doctrine.

Now for those of you that are so upset by this verdict, time to take a look at yourself in the mirror and how you’re acting, how’s it feel?

I am not only dead, but will be unknown, obscure & forgotten
for the most part – But not to worry, since I was merely a member of the
oppressive, discriminatory, less than worthy white race… Touche Reverends
Sharpton & Jackson, et al… Thank You for Caring…

Saturday, yea!

Here’s two comments from yesterday,

  1. Robi says:

    You sure have cute boys!

  2. Annette says:

I agree with Aunt Robi! You had cheese crackers in your Prada purse?

First up, yes the misses did have cheese crackers in her purse! And yes, the kiddos are cute boys!

Yesterday was busy as usual. The misses went downtown, I ran a few errands and made some phone calls and later in the day took the boys with me to the grocery store. The youngest went to the neighboring pool with his friend Jack and the oldest stayed home with us. This morning the misses has a meeting at the office with Dr. Rodgers (Chris) who she works for as Chris has been out of town visiting colleges with her daughter and has been in surgery since she arrived home meaning they had no time during the week to get together. I’m taking the boys to the Boulder farmers market to get some fresh veggies from our friend Peter. We should all meet back home around 11 or 12.

It’s pretty nice here compared to the rest of the country heat wise. Yesterday there were only 4 states that didn’t hit 90 degrees. They were Alaska, North and South Dakota and Minnesota, pretty much a nationwide heat wave.

That’s about it from here, hope all’s well, take care and God Bless.

Poop’n in Prada

photo 12 Here are a few pictures to start your day with a smile. Living the dream…..
photo 10 L1030890Our friend in Aspen who owns the ranch emailed yesterday saying they caught the mouse that ran in front of the misses last weekend. I’m not sure if we mentioned him or her, but the biggest mouse you ever saw ran right out in front of the misses last Sunday morning at the ranch. Luckily she’s not one of those sissy women but it did startle her. After the mouse ran past her she  grabbed a flashlight(remember the power was out at 5:45 a.m.) and went on a mouse hunt. She started in the kitchen and made her way 3000 square feet to the master bedroom.  Her purse was on the love seat and there she saw mouse droppings on her white Prada purse.   She shined the light into the purse preparing to see two beady little eyes staring back…but instead found multiple droppings scattered amongst the cheese it crackers that the boys spilled in her purse the day before.  That right there was enough to get the exterminator called on him and he’s in mouse heaven now.

Yesterday the misses went to the office for a few hours while I had a meeting downtown with a restaurant group that is now buying about 20 cases of wine a week from us. That’s a good hit! I brought pizza’s home for the boys and then the misses and I watched the movie 42 which was really good.

Today I have PT (physical therapy) at 9:30 and the misses has a doctor appointment at 1pm. I’ll take the boys with me to meet my friend who grows the fresh vegetables downtown to get a box, also at 1pm.

I also took the boys to Kohl’s for some new clothes. They each got some new shorts and shirts which they both needed. I’m sure we’ll need to go back a few times before school starts.

We’re supposed to get rain today and we also need to go to Costco to stock up on some essentials. Boy has food skyrocketed in price, once again, you should be stocking up while you can! No matter what you think about the future, you can and will always need food! I’ll stop but I don’t have enough for everyone but of course won’t turn any of you away. If nothing else, those of you in Kalifornia (I meant to spell it that way!) better keep your gas tanks full so you can head east when you need to, enough said.

Take care and God Bless

Pilates

Wow, pilates is hard! I went with the misses yesterday and I don’t care how much weight you can lift, pilates is a whole different workout. I probably shouldn’t have gone as my knee is sore (I need to get back to physical therapy) and now I’ll be taking it easy for a bit.

Here’s a comment from Annette,

Annette says:

All I can say is WOW! What a place, Sounds like everone had fun and the pictures are great. Of course the boys made a good impression, they are the best grand kids in the world (their parents are pretty special too). I’m with you on the politics Doug. This country is going to hell in a handbasket.

Now I was going to “stay away” but you just sucked me back in. So here we go,

What the hell are all these Trayvon Martin protests? Black hoodlums are roaming the streets of various cities (like Oakland, surprise surprise) randomly attacking white people. You have ivy league professors saying God is a racist and supposedly civil right leaders (who are no more than aging has beens trying to get back in the spotlight) calling for nationwide protests, AND the guy was Hispanic! I wonder how many protests there would be if a black kid shot a white guy???? I’ll bet none! Next up the Attorney General (who’s currently in contempt of Congress) is saying that Stand Your Ground laws need to be looked at when that was never even involved in this case! You see the government wanted this guy to be guilty so they could go after guns but he and his attorneys case was based on self defense, not any right to carry a gun. Oh yea, Stevie Wonder has said he won’t play Florida anymore until this law is repealled to which 99% of all comments on line said, big deal and Stevie who? (another has been) People like Al Sharpton (who looks like an alien at 80 with his 35 year old girlfriend) should be charged with inciting violence in calling for 100 protests across the Country this weekend. Well, bring em on. The guy was tried by a jury of his piers and found not guilty, case closed! What has happened to our Country and system of justice. It seems if the Pres and his administration doesn’t like a law (or the outcome of a case) they ignore it and/or just move to change it. Our Country’s founders must be rolling over in their grave. It’s just sad, really really sad.

There, I feel much better but my knee still hurts!

I went to a new dentist yesterday, what a great guy who really knows his stuff. His head nurse used to work for Dr Kivland who was my parents neighbor when we grew up. Paula (that’s her name) said to tell my Mom and everyone hi! They are so cutting edge and hi tech, I’m glad I found them.

Today the misses has to go to the office and I have a meeting with a restaurant chain at 4pm. Not sure what the kids are doing, they stayed downstairs and watched 42 (the movie) last night. The damn dog woke me at 5:15, she’s now had breakfast and is in her bed in the crate.

Alright that’s it, football is right around the corner. Lorenzo and Jen (partner and close friend) are coming out to the Steamboat Wine Festival with us so I need to rent a big condo up there in a couple of weeks. It’ll be good to see him again as he’s been at his estate in Italy helping out his parents. Fall will be here before you know it. I bought 2 pails of black beans (that are packed in nitrogen and will last for 25 years) the other day that’ll be here tomorrow, can’t have too much food and it only cost about $120 for 84 pounds! I’m telling you, water and food are they new gold! Get it while you can. Ok ok, I’ll stop as I’m going off on a tangent now (thanks to Annette) as I really didn’t have anything to write about today, so thanks!

God Bless.

Hump day

Another Wednesday, not much new going on, just the same old same old. Here’s a comment from Aunt Robi,

robi says:

All I can say is WOW! My fav pic is the boys drinking the con queso dip – I would have had my straw right in there too!!!!

Kudo’s to you for recognizing the boys were drinking queso from a straw. It was pretty funny.

Today I have a dentist appointment and have a few boxes of wine to ship and the misses has some work around the house and on the computer. The boys have some playing and school work to do and that’s about it. It’s a little cooler but still warm.

Lots of crazy stuff politically but I’m staying away. So not much else to say. Take care and God Bless.

Scroll down for yesterdays post

We tried to catch you all up by writing and posting some pictures last night. Try to scroll down to read all about it. If you can’t, click on the post titled “The Great Escape Ranch” on the right side of the page.

At the party Sunday there were lots of colorful characters. One was this retired U.S. General from the Army who was quite famous but I can’t remember his name. He had the most memorable line of the day when he said to the misses, “Wow, you could make a bulldog break his chain”. You see she looked quite stunning, as always, and (wish I could remember his name) he was at least 80! For the rest of the day he called the misses “Lori Wow”! Too funny. We saw him later as he had 3 younger girls (40 to 50) dancing on the upper deck with him.

Billie and Greg are donating the ranch to the Seal Team that got you know who along with General McCrystal at the first of August for a week. They just want to give these guys a break. I’m sure they’ll have fun.

Everyone is still sleeping and I’m going to try to get to the gym as the misses has pilates at 9am. The dogs are happy happy happy and all is well. It seems like summer is slipping away as we don’t have many weekends left before school starts. Most of them are already filled up! The grass is soaked still from all the rain so no need to water. Hope we get a break for a few days but it’s hard to complain about too much rain.

No politics, I’m boycotting the news (except for the morning paper) as it’s all bull anyhow. No need to vent on you all. If anyone has any questions or concerns, feel free to reach out and I’ll give you a call.

Take care and God Bless.

The Great Escape Ranch

micro-2L1030833photo 11 Sorry we missed posting for a few days but we had no internet. I’ll try to keep it short and get in as much as possible. We arrived Friday afternoon and when we drove up we were just blown away. The house is 12,000 square feet complete with indoor pool, theater room and an elevator! Our room was the main master at one end of the 2nd floor. It has 9 bedrooms and 12 bathrooms. The first night we went into Basalt and had mexican food that was really good. The next morning I woke up early and apparently drank like 8 espressos not knowing that the large cup of coffee we bought the night before was so strong, big mistake, I didn’t feel well until later in the day. We took the boys to Snowmass to go bunji jumping and mess around and then came home around dinner and the boys hit the pool. We decided to take it easy the rest of the night, watch a movie and rest up for the big party on Sunday. We woke up early and started to help get ready for the 200 people that would arrive around noon. First the caterers showed up and then the music and other help. We helped direct what goes where and before you knew it, it was noon. Billie brought her 7 year old grand daughter who arrived the afternoon before. She of course took instantly to our boys and had a blast. L1030841L1030867photo 13

Lots of people showed up and the poor bartender Sonja was so slammed I helped her out a bit. Everyone was real nice but it was an older crowd. One of their other grandkids and son in law showed up and he too latched onto our kiddos. Everyone commented how nice and well mannered our boys were and what great parents we are. Not surprising to us as we’re pretty darn good parents! Greg and Billie introduced us to tons of people and we knew some and had lots of fun. The food, wine and cocktails were all great as well as the people. Soon it was 5pm or so and most of the crowd left. Billie, Greg and a few others, and us hung out for another few hours before they headed home. Greg’s son in law, Aleks and the two grandkids stayed with us and went to dinner with us about a mile away. The kids were having too much fun and didn’t want to leave our boys just yet. Finally we went to sleep around 10pm and woke up at 7 or so. Billie insisted we take and keep a key to the house and use the ranch whenever we want. We graciously thanked her and said ok. (she wouldn’t hear of no!) We drove home through Vail and made it here by 12:45 pm. The dogs were happy to see us and after sifting through 600 emails and vaccumming the house, we’re settled in back home.

That’s about it, the pictures don’t do the house justice as it was just amazing. The bathroom had a steam shower and 3 separate nozzles or whatever, spraying you. You could fit 8 people in it easy! The theater room was amazing, 3500 watts of power and the most comfortable chairs you’ve sat in, it was better than any theater you’ve been in. And of course the kids loved the pool. We have invites to a bunch of other party’s up there too but will have to pass on some of them. We are going to Sarasota Florida in December to stay with them for a bit as I think most of the Aspen people go there around that time. It’s a different world up there but fun and who knew, we were so fun! Oh well, c’est la vie (the party was a Bastille Day Party). Take care and thanks to Aunt Ali for checking on the pups!

I feel a little better

Ok, here’s a comment from yesterday. Throw in a conversation or two with a couple of you that said how much you enjoyed and agreed with the other days post, and I feel a little better.

Annette says:

Just frustrated !

Now I don’t feel better because of the situation our country is in but rather for the fact that at least some of you also see the reality of our situation. I guess as I said to one of you on the phone last night, we just need to keep a positive attitude! It’s often difficult to do when daily it seems our freedoms are being whittled away. Check this out.

President Gives Himself Control Of ALL Communication Systems In America

July 11, 2013, by Ken Jorgustin

obama-controls-all-communications-in-america

US President Barack Obama quietly signed his name to an Executive Order on Friday, allowing the White House to control all private communications in the country in the name of national security.

The president has authorized the DHS,
“the authority to seize private facilities when necessary, effectively shutting down or limiting civilian communications.”

Now if you want to read more, click on the link that says “read more”. In short, our Pres signed yet another exec order that gives him the right to shut down all independent media, every newspaper, radio, tv and even the internet,  whenever “he” deems it is in the best interest of the country, wow. The scary thing is this is just the latest in a long list of exec orders giving him the power to seize everything from all farms, ranches and food producing facilities to gas stations, banks, medical facilities and just about everything you can think of. Never in the history of the country has any administration gone to this length. Don’t you have to at least ask yourself, why? I’ll leave that up to you but it’s not because he’s playing Monopoly with his kids, even though it seems that way. They’ve already given themselves the power to freeze all bank accounts when they want and even come into your home and take food from you for redistribution, unbelievable but true. One can only hope that the government won’t over reach or abuse their power as that’s never happened, right?

Ok, onto the day, we had quite the thunderstorms here last night. Mojo isn’t scared of much but he doesn’t like the thunder, most dogs don’t. Hopefully if it rains this afternoon, Aunt Ali can come up and let him in his bed. We’ll be leaving close to noon today and hopefully be up in Aspen by 3 at the latest. I have lots to do this morning, so much that I had to make a list last night.

The misses made some white chocolate Fleur de Lis last night to take to the Bastille Day Party this Sunday. For those of you that don’t know, it celebrates the day the French people stormed the Bastille. You can Google it if you want more info.

The youngest had Jack, his friend, spend the night, after they played most of the day together. Mom made sure it was lights out by 10pm. The oldest joined in and they all had a lemonade stand as it was 100 degrees yesterday.

It’ll be good to get out of the city and up to the mountains where it’ll be 20 degrees cooler. I can’t imagine what it’ll be like here in August which is normally our hottest month.

That’s about it, time to run, my freakin back is real sore but I’m off to the gym anyhow before I go to the warehouse to get another 30 cases of wine. Lots to do, take care, God Bless and as I said, we all need to keep a positive attitude!
