The countdown continues

Tomorrow morning we’ll be getting the misses ready to go to the mountains to hopefully begin to end her pain. They say she could actually have worse pain for 2 to 4 weeks before all the nerve endings die off. Let’s just pray it works. I don’t know why the font size is so small????

It rained most of the day and was pretty gloomy. We’re in for a brief warm up before another cold spell Friday. School was good for the boys and other than that, just normal stuff going on. Today my power supply for my computer is supposed to arrive so with luck, and the help opf Steve our neighbor, our network and computer should be up and running.

Mom’s still sleeping as is the oldest one and it’s almost 7 so I need to run. I’ll get back to longer posts once i’m back on my regular keyboard. You’ve probably enjoyed the break though so we’ll see.

Take care and God Bless,

48 hours to go

In about 48 hours, the misses will go under the needles to cauterize the nerves in her neck. While no one is really looking forward to this, we have to try as she’s just living with a headache 24/7. Say your prayers for her Wednesday morning.

Yesterday the oldest one went to the Rockies baseball game with the neighbors while the youngest neighbor boy stayed here with our youngest. The misses and I did some more yard work and housework and that was about it. Uncle T made some great short ribs for dinner but only made 4. I told him next time I’d buy like 20 of them as they were that good! I did run to the cowboy store and bought the oldest a pair of 16 slim jeans as this is now his size. Let’s see, 10 years old wearing 16 slims, hmmm, do you think he’s going to be tall?

It rained most of the night which was good as we need the moisture. There was thankfully no lightening like the day before. It’s suppose to continue until tonight which is good for the flowers, grass and plants so we won’t complain.

Not much else going on, still have a broken computer network, maybe I can get the neighbor over today to help me fix it. Grandma Dix and Pa Don leave for Hawaii tomorrow, too bad were not going with them. If the misses head seems ok after her procedure, we’re going to try to get into Brush Creek Ranch in a few weeks. Time for the boys to get out their fishing poles.

Have a great week, take care and once again, say your prayers for the misses.

Busy times

We woke up early and were off to Boulder to the famers market by 9am. Our friends from Iceland, Bogi (pronounced Boyee) and Sola met us there on their way back to Vail as they have kids at the University of Colorado. After some food and picking up our fresh greens, we had to run to make it to the youngest ones soccer game. By the time this was over it was 2:30. We made a quick pit stop at home, (for him to change) and then were off to the misses store for the gluten free festival. We finally arrived home around 4pm and had a few minutes to rest before starting dinner, halibut fish tacos.

Grandma Dix called and gave me permission to go back to politics but I think I’ll wait a bit, at least until I’m back on a regular computer and key board. We had a nasty storm last night with hail, lightening and rain but all our plants survived. I think we’re off for a hike this morning before the showers return mid afternoon. We all slept in until after 7 and the big guy is still sleeping.

Time to run as I hate typing on this keyboard. I have to continously go back and fix errors from the small keys. Take care and God Bless,

A great day

The misses bday started off with her doing some exercise and then we headed out to the garden. I built our new bed and tilled the soil by mixing in a bunch of good organice dirt. Then the misses came out to do her thing which is plant the plants. This of course was after she cleaned the house so we could have the house cleaned by Elvia which was one of her bday treats. Before we knew it it was about 1pm and time to go get the cake.

Meanwhile I had dropped the youngest at his friends for some play time so on the way home, the three of us picked him up. Next up was Uncle T and Aunt B a and Grandma coming over at 4 to celebrate. Mixed in between was a bunch of calls from some of you and the misses friends wishing her a happy day.

Before we knew it it was 4:45 and we needed to leave for dinner in 45 minutes. We made it downtown to the restaurant by 6:10 to meet our friends. It was a great place and somehow one of our friends had securred a table outside in the courtyard even though the town was packed for the NBA playoff game. Our friends from Iceland and Rollie (the realtor the misses worked for for a short time) had both brought her presents. It seems Rollie had arranged for a big “to do” for her birthday. The food and company were both great and the misses was glad I talked her into going. We finished up with some great gluten free dessert from the restaurant and they even gave the misses a gift certificate to come back. It was a fun time.

We finished up at 8pm and the game was starting at 8:30 so we offered to drop the 4 of our friends at the Pepsi Center where the game was. Lucky I cleaned the car! They’d make their own way back afterwards to their cars. We arrived home just in time for the tip off on tv and in 30 minutes or so, I was the only one left downstairs watching the Nuggets blow out the hated Lakers. It was a bit close in the end but we won by 15.

This morning we’re headed up to the farmers market in Boulder for more fresh veggies, then I’m sure more gardening. Hope everyone is well, take care and have a great weekend.

Happy Birthday!

Today the good looking one is 48, wow! She thinks she is sooo old, wait till she hits 50, we’ll all have to run for cover. Well the boys are off school, again. We have lots going on around here and this evening we go to an early dinner with our friends from Iceland and another couple before they go to the NBA playoff game between the Nuggets and the Lakers. I think we’re going to a french place.

This morning we have to get the rest of the garden in and then my computers should be down as the neighbor tries to re-wire my home office. Hope he gets it right.

We’re praying for some divine interventionaround here as we have lots of things  here and in our life that needa little help, enough said. With no politics and other stuff to talk about, that’s it for me. I’ll try to get the misses to come down and write something. We did manage to get her to Nordstrom Rack (the discount store) where she found some sandles, shorts and a few t shirts for summer. I think she was happy to get some new clothes.

Take care, have a great weekend and call the misses to say Happy Birthday!

Almost forgot

Uncle T was out walking the dog and came up to me as I was washing the car to remind me that I had not written the blog today. He said I need to get back on coffee, alcohol and red meat as I’m slipping. Oh well, could be worse. We got the boys to school ok and the misses is off to an appointment in an hour or so and I just washed, vacummed and cleaned out her car. Man can those kids do a number on a car. There was old red cake, the camera lens cap the misses lost sometime ago (and I already had to buy a new one) and what seemed like a years worth of candy wrappers stuffed down in each kids seat back. I’m sure it’s only a months worth!

Today is the last day of school for this week and then it’s 3 days off. Tomorrow is the misses birthday as you all know. She says she doesn’t want anything as we’re trying not to spend any money but I did get her some flowers and organic soil for her vegetable garden yesterday. I’m sure the next few days will be spent out front.

Sorry for the short posts but I just don’t seem to have any time these days. Give the misses a call tomorrow to say hi, take care and God Bless.

Surgery postponed

Well, wouldn’t you know it, after I rearranged my schedule and the misses prepared herself mentally, they called last night around 4pm and moved us to May 9th. Nothing we can do about it but I was really pissed off. I’m sure the misses wasn’t thrilled either.

Yesterday was a challenge trying to get my netowrk and computers going which are still down. I’m writing on one of our laptops with a cord directly plugged into the modem. I was supposed to get a new power supply today but wouldn’t you know it, I received an email this morning saying it’ll be May 7th. I think “wouldn’t you know it” might just be my new catch phrase. I might just go buy a whole new computer today and tell Dell to go you know what themselves.

I’ve been off coffee, alcohol, dairy and red meat for over a week and feel suprisingly good. I’ve also lost a lot of fat so look out, It’s a new program. Meanwhile the misses is powering through her ever pounding head and working out as well. Yesterday her closest friend from L.A. called and they talked for what seemed an hour.

Time to run as the misses just said breakfast is ready. Sorry for the short posts but it’s not as easy to write on laptops!

God Bless

May 1st, a headache and no time

Ok, I’m back by default as I went to bed after fixing the kitchen sink (temprorary) and woke with a headache to no internet service and have had to resort to plugging in an ethernet cord directly to my work laptop. You see our main computer fried on Saturday when we had a power outage and i’m waiting on a new power supply from California.

That’s why I’m writing, the misses is uipstairs and doesn’t know her laptop won’t work. Too much going on and too hard to tyupe on this thing, I just don’t have time for this, sorry,

bye, God Bless

April 30th, 2012

Good morning.  The temperature is supposed to reach 80 degrees this afternoon.  Maybe we’ll turn on the sprinklers for the kids to play in.

The Mister has been super helpful these days….not that he wasn’t before.  He has been doing all of the laundry, the dishes, the vacuuming and transporting the kiddos to and from school and to any parties or sporting events they attend.  Did I mention grocery shopping? He’s doing that too…although he has always done most of the grocery shopping. It’s a lot for one person and I certainly appreciate all of  the extra down time.

The youngest had fun at both birthday parties…I’m pretty sure he consumed cake, ice cream and more cake for his lunch and snack yesterday. The oldest came home from an exciting but disappointing Rockies game with a souvenir mini baseball bat and ball bag from the game.  The first 20,000 received the souvenirs from the game.  The kids went down on the field to watch the warm up and then up to their seats for the game.  The Rockies lost in extra innings…bummer.

The Mister and I got the aspen tree planted and the mulch spread around while the kids were gone.  The front yard is looking up..time to move on to the back.

We have mice…I thought it was only one mouse, but I’ve trapped two in the garage and saw a baby out front yesterday.  Where are all of my garden snakes this year?  I have a garden toad, but he’s too slow to catch that little mouse.  I really don’t want to kill them…I wish they would just relocate to the creek down the street.  I put out some decon, but that seems inhumane, as does the trap.  The trap does have a cover over it so all I see is the poor little tail upon capture.  I set one out front with a piece of pizza in it….who doesn’t like pizza?  I don’t want to put decon out front for fear of dogs, cats and squirrels getting into it. Ugg.

We hung a really nice squirrel proof bird feeder that Grandma gave us.  It’s in the tree out front, so far no birds…but there is a squirrel that is quite interested.  He sits on the branch that the feeder is hanging on grooming his tail and pondering just how he is going to get to the food.  I felt bad for him, so I threw some bird seed into the shrub he runs to when we open the door.  Maybe that is where the mice came from.

Anyway, the youngest guy has a dentist appointment and the oldest has his 10 year old wellness check this morning.  I am off to make breakfast and get this day started.

Have a great day and God Bless,

LLF

2 Birthday Parties and a Rockies Game

Good morning, the Mister is at the gym and the boys are sleeping in.  The dogs have eaten, been out to play and had their morning rub down.

The lemonade stand was a success despite the chill in the air and our house being in the morning shade.  The kids made about $21 and split it three ways.  They each had to give $1 to the two little guys that were their worker bees.  The signage the kiddos came up with was priceless.  First, the had a giant chalkboard with a picture of a pitcher of lemonade and chocolate chip cookies drawn on it with the prices in big bold numbers.  Second, was a really colorful sign around the giant sports thermos. Third, a cardboard box that they had adorned with colorful letters and prices. One of the girls wore this as a skirt at our oldest’s urging. Finally, the youngest made a sign and taped it to his badminton racquet so he  could wave it around.  The older kids went up to the corner and waved their signs to get cars to turn off for lemonade.  I guess it worked….$21 in an hour is very good at 10 a.m.

I set up the badminton net in case they got bored with selling lemonade and cookies.  The kids played that for a while and went in the backyard to play with the dogs and then back to badminton. One of the girls had to leave a bit after 11 to go to her soccer game..75 miles away.  Have I ever mentioned how thankful we are that our soccer team is not a traveling team?  Well we are SO thankful. After that the youngest went to brunch with the neighbors and the oldest, the new neighbor girl and I walked up to her house to get her bike and go for a ride.

The youngest had his soccer game at 4:30. The Mister took him…I had to lie down.  The oldest stayed with me and repeatedly asked me to take him to Starbuck’s for an egg and sausage biscuit.  I finally told him that the biscuit was a morning item and perhaps we could get one in the morning.  Can you say, “Persistent”?

I made some tortellini for the kids, leftovers for the Mister and back to bed I went. The mister kept the kiddos entertained the rest of the night.  Thank you, my sweet man!

Today the youngest has back to back birthday parties to attend.  The first is for the neighbor boy and it is at a trampoline party place.  The second is at the little girls house. She has requested in lieu of gifts to bring donations for the Foothills Animal Shelter. The birthday girl is very excited to take all of the animal gifts to the shelter on Monday.  What a sweet and generous thing to do.

The oldest is getting picked up at noon to go to the Rockies game with his friend Jen.  I better make sure that his Rockies shirt is clean or I’ll be in big, big trouble.

I didn’t get the aspen tree planted yesterday, maybe the Mister will help me with that project while the kiddos are off on their adventures.

The munchkins have the day off tomorrow and Friday.  A three day school week.  It feels like summer already….

Have a great day and God Bless,

LLF

Mister here, although I’m boycotting the blog,  I have to chime in. The youngest one and I went to his soccer game at 4:30 and it was cold! He played well, again, and almost scored a goal! They won 3 to 1 and we were glad when it was over to get back to the warm car. The boys then watched Alice in Wonderland while I did the last load of laundry and the dishes. I almost forgot to tell you the funniest thing the oldest said the other day. He was outside playing with his friend and a few others (a few days ago on early release) and the misses and I were gardening. He had his shirt off cause it was so hot and he said to his friend who just missed a badminton shot, “what, do my awesome abs distract you?” Mom and I laughed for hours as did he, just had to share that, I keep forgetting.

Have a great day, God Bless
