I started the day going to the gym and then boxed up 12 different cases of wine for accounts in Aspen, carried the rest downstairs and gassed up and washed the car. Meanwhile the misses was getting the Christmas decorations down from the garage attic and cleaning the garage at the same time! In between I ran across town to swap a gun for a different model I had been waiting for a long time to come in.
I was at a new shop whose prices are almost double what is normal but they were packed! It seems lots of people are worried about their 2nd Amendment rights, (according to the guys behind the counter) being taken away after the election. They said it’s been this way ever since the election. I was reading in the paper this morning an article by someone who obviously has never owned a firearm, that we, once again, need to ban certain kinds of firearms and magazines (the things that hold the bullets). She said that people are rushing to buy assault rifles (no such term in the firearms world for any gun, just a term people who don’t want you to have guns use to scare you!) that will hold 100 round magazines. Now I’m pretty strong but even I couldn’t and wouldn’t, tote around a rifle with 100 rounds of ammunition as the shear weight of 100 bullets alone makes this impractical. Of course this is another thing the people who want to take away your constitutional rights do not mention. Whether you like guns or not, there’s a reason our founders put the right to keep and bear arms in our constitution. Plus all these bad things that happen (which are minuscule by percentages) are not by law abiding gun owners with 100 round magazines. The recent tragedy here in Aurora at the movie theater for example, the guy had no such magazine but the media and anti gun people don’t think that sounds very good so they make up these terms to scare you. God help the society whose leaders take away the right to keep and bear arms. Does anyone remember Germany?
Alright sorry, it’s just these people really piss me off.
In the afternoon we had a pizza party for the kids. They wanted to have an impromptu get together so we ended up with a yard full of kiddos over. Two of the kids parents dropped them off and went for some adult time and ended up staying when they came back, for some wine and cheese. We even dragged them over to the neighbors with us for a quick appearance at a birthday party we totally forgot about. We all fell asleep by about 9pm and the oldest guy is still sleeping.
Today I have some paperwork to get ready for our Aspen trip tomorrow and then it’s off to the Bronco game a bit after noon. So, time to run, go get some extra ammo for your rifle while you can! And f you don’t own a rifle, even a 22, get out there and get one now! Now that “you know who” doesn’t have to run for re-election, he will try to change the gun laws, I promise you!
God Bless.
