Due to the storm, we found out last night that Jag and 35 other 8th graders, are stuck in Washington D.C. until Monday night! They’ll now fly out at 6pm and arrive in Denver at 8 and then take a bus back up to Vail putting them home around 10:30 or 11pm. I guess they’ll probably be late or even skip school Tuesday. I wonder what this is going to cost us?
Now to the storm, it started yesterday around 11am when I was in Eagle picking up snow boots. It was a rain and snow mix down there and followed me half way back to Vail meaning it was coming from the west. By early afternoon it hit Vail. It started with thunder snow, which is a storm with lightening and thunder and snow instead of rain. The snow though was like mini hail balls about the size of peas. This went on for about an hour and then turned into huge wet flakes of snow that kept going until around 9pm. They closed the pass around 3:30pm and the town was packed with cars, trucks and semi’s waiting out the storm. I don’t know if or when it opened. I was talking to my Mom around 8:30 telling her how the power had been flickering on and off when bam, the cable and phones went down. Thankfully they’re on this morning. It’s not snowing now but is cloudy.
Around 12:45am our doorbell started ringing. I came down and looked through the glass at a kid with a backpack asking what he wanted and he said sorry, he had the wrong house. He was looking for the kid that stays in his Aunt’s house next door. Needless to say, it was hard for Lori and I to go back to sleep. That’s about it, we’ll lay close to home today. I think Denver picked up a little snow as well but am not sure how much. Time to run and go clean off the car, GB.
