Can’t seem to sleep past 4am. I’d like to, just can’t. Guess I’d better go to bed earlier. Oh well, at least there’s peace and quiet at this time of the morning. Lacey the lab woke me up today, Â first at 1:30am and then now at 4. I need to run to Vail this morning to deliver some wine a client bought a month or so ago so I’ll take off by 5 and be back in Denver by 8am.
Yesterday was a busy day. The house is now spotless and filled with over 200 boxes of wine. It looks like some contemporary art project with all the different colored boxes spread throughout the kitchen, dining room and living room. Now comes the hard part, opening them up and repacking them and shipping them via Fed Ex to states all over the country. If a couple of hundred cases of wine doesn’t sound like a lot to you, trust me, it is.
After getting all the wine in the house, it was about 5:30pm and time for dinner. The misses did so much work yesterday that I was afraid she was going to bring her headache back full force. It’s thankfully been around a 6 or a 7 out of 10 on the pain scale and we’re trying to keep it calmed down hoping the medicine takes affect. So, I suggested we all go to dinner at the new local place that just opened, called Tellers. We showed up to the place only to find there was a 30 to 45 minute wait. We decided to wait it out so we turned on a movie in the car and sat out front waiting for our table. Finally about 40 minutes later, we were seated at our table anxiously wanting some food. For those of you that live close, the food was good. The place is real loud and small as it’s in an old 7-11. Still we have no good neighborhood restaurants so it’s a welcome addition. I spoke to the guy in charge and will hopefully get some wine in. He told me his “friend” helped him with the wine list and alcohol selections but let me tell you, this guy was no friend at all! In short, the list sucks. It’s all massed produced wine from huge vineyards and half of the vodka selections are all flavored Van Goh vodkas. It’s easy to tell that the salesman from the distributor sold the guy products that he was getting spiffed on and not really designing a good list with the customer in mind. This happens often in our industry, salesmen taking advantage of people. Oh well, I’ll try to help.
Today the youngest has d.i. and the oldest one still has that deep cough in his lungs that hopefully will be gone by the end of the weekend. I made a trade yesterday with a store in Rapid City South Dakota and have a new .270 caliber hunting rifle on the way to Denver that’ll arrive hopefully by Wednesday. I’m super excited to get this and although I traded in one of my more prized handguns, I’ve always wanted one of these. I managed to even get a little cash back ($100) on the deal.
Our fish (can’t remember the name of which ones left) is still hanging in there. The misses changes his bowl daily trying to keep him alive. Well it’s now 4:32 and time to jump in the shower and hit the road. I’m watching the weather and the tornado’s on the news yesterday and sure am glad we don’t live in that part of the country. I don’t know about you but it seems like the weather has been getting more unpredictable or worse in recent years. I’m sure it’s just cyclical but it sure seems worse over the past few years. Say a prayer for all those people.
Time to run, take care, stay safe and God Bless. Hope the misses neck and head continue to get better. She did get a check for $101 yesterday which was her workmans comp paycheck, whoo hoo, $101 dollars, not much huh, but it’s better than no dollars.
