Yesterday was a busy day. It started out with Lori and I working until about 1 when we finally headed down to Denver to meet the boys to go to the concert. We made it to Tommy’s to meet Jagger around 3:30 so Jag could leave his car there. Then we headed out around 4:15 to pick up Ty. We thought we’d pick up our tickets early, but they hadn’t brought them down at 5. So off to dinner we went.
We managed to get into a top steak house, but Lori and I ordered the salmon which was way over cooked. They gladly took it back but that meant Lori and I really didn’t eat. We made it back to the arena around 6:30 and were inside 15 minutes later. I went to Artist Relations at Will Call and picked up our tickets which were in the 9th row, seats 1 through 4. Funny as with Bocelli, the promoter row is also #9. Great seats, super appreciative.
The boys wanted some merch, (t-shirts and stuff) and so did Uncle Tommy so we picked a t-shirt up for him too. The show started promptly at 8 and we were literally less than 20 feet from Elton. For 2 1/2 hours he played a lot his greatest hits, along with some killer B-side cuts that was nothing short of incredible.
I know most of the guys in the band, not personally, but from listening to them for 50 years. Every musician is a star themselves. From Davey Johnstone on guitar to Ray Cooper on percussion to Nigel Olsson on drums, it was amazing. These guys are all icons and have been playing for over 50 years!
The boys absolutely loved it which made us super happy and the whole thing worth it. After the show we dropped Ty and headed to Tommy’s to drop Jagger at his car. Lori and I left there at 11pm and were home by 1.
So, epic doesn’t really do the evening justice. I’m sure the boys will remember this night, along with the Rolling Stones show, long after Lori and I are at the big show in the sky. We vowed as a family to find some more shows, even if we have to travel, and go see them.
Glad we’re home but it was a drive. Today we’ll hang around the house. It’s 9am now as we slept in a bit. Have a great weekend and live life! God Bless.
