Closing January

Last day of January, and also Mom’s birthday today! Happy Birthday Mom! Deb Rubin texted me last night, saying she’d be celebrating mom today on her special day. We sure miss her.

Yesterday we made it to Denver by 10am, returned Ty’s golf bag from his birthday, and then headed to Cherry Creek to return a coat Lori bought a few days earlier, she gets buyer’s remorse a lot. Then met up with Jagger. Ava was on a call for a new job back at the apartment. We picked up Jag’s pants that were hemmed at Neiman’s and then headed for his house.

Once there, Jag had a call with HR about on boarding to the new job on Monday. On boarding is what they call starting a new job these days. He was done in ten minutes and then we headed out for lunch. We were headed to this one place, but it looked kind of like a diner, so we decided to go to Sushi Den. It was a good lunch, super crowded and loud, but fun.

We then headed back to Jag’s place and loaded up the truck with things he doesn’t need right now. I dropped off my expedition level Canada Goose parka which made him really happy. He said, “this thing is sick”! I guess they don’t make them anymore with real fur collars and mine is super cool. He loves it and I’m glad I can give it to him keep him warm in the cold Chicago weather.

After a bunch of hugs and a few tears from Lori, we headed up the hill. It was 3pm and we were home by 5:15. Ty made it home around 7 as people called in sick to work and he had to close. He’s getting ready right now and will be on the road, headed back to work by 6:30 this morning.

Ava’s mom lands at 1 today and Jag’s flight takes off at 3, so Ava will drop Jagger when she gets her mom. Big news of the day is before we made it home, Ava landed a new job! It’s 100% remote and with a cool company so both kids have new jobs! Things are coming together fast for them, and we’re so excited. They have friends that just moved to Indiana for a new job, and they all already made plans and got tickets for the Indy 500 on Memorial Day weekend! It’s only a couple hours from Chicago. Last night a bunch of their close friends came over with Jag leaving today. I think they made around $3K selling all their old furniture which is great. I think we’re flying out to Chicago on the 20th. Hopefully they’ll have a new place by then.

We’ll head out to the gym this morning and then go see Ty for breakfast before being around the house for most of the day. We do need to go to Costco. I’m really going to try to get to my office today. I managed to get all Jags stuff put away last night, which was good. I’ll probably go down Tuesday or Wednesday to Denver and grab another load after Ava and Julie get some more things packed up.

We connected Jagger with Abbey’s brother who lives in Chicago, so that’s good. Jag has other connections there too. Abbey’s birthday is Monday and next Saturday she heads out to Italy for the Olympics as she’s Mikela’s sports psychologist. Mikela Shiffrin is our local woman ski racer, World Champion of all time. Should be a fun time.

It was much warmer up here yesterday, in the mid 40’s. It was in the high 50’s in Denver, almost Spring like! Pitchers and catchers report for baseball next week and winter should be all over in around 8 weeks at most. It’ll be a nice weekend they say.

That’s it, have a great last day of January and God Bless.
