Made it to Denver on time. I stopped for donuts for the nurses and as I was walking in, three blind people with canes were getting off a bus on Broadway. One kind of yelled at me, “excuse me, is that the donut shop”. I said yes and asked if that’s where they wanted to go. He said yes and then said thank you sir. There were two guys and one woman, all between their 30’s and 40’s. They were clearly struggling so I held open the door and got them inside. First thing the two guys said was “yum yum, it sure smells good in here”. I asked the big guy if he could see me at all and he said no, he was completely blind. The other two had like eye masks on under their sunglasses so I knew they couldn’t see. The big guy was going on about how life was down in the South where he was from. He mentioned something about homemade donuts and moonshine made in the South. They were very nice and had taken the bus from Littleton just to come to the donut shop. The big fella was asking me about the different kinds of donuts and then the other guy said he’d like a burrito. I checked the menu and told him they had wraps with bacon, sausage, eggs and stuff. The one guy was counting his pennies trying to figure out what donuts to get. Finally the clerk came to the counter and asked what I wanted. I picked out a dozen donuts for the nurses at the dermatologist and then asked the guys and gal what they wanted. I could see them trying to figure out what stuff costs, so I said, “I’m buying” The one guy wanted a sausage and egg wrap and then the big guy said, “wow, thank you sir, in that case, I’ll have the burrito” The girl had an egg sandwich too.

I paid for everything and helped them get to a table in the corner, and they were completely blind as I had to grab their hands to help them to their seats. They were so appreciative like they just won the lottery. They asked me where the bus stop was so they could find it to get back to the bus. I told them and then tipped the clerk and told him to make sure he takes them their food to their table and takes care of them. He said he would. I had to take off to get to my appointment so I left them waiting for their food. Seeing three people going through so much just to walk into a shop to get something to eat makes you thankful for just being able to see! Puts things into perspective.

I made it to Libby’s and she came in and gave me a hug and looked at the small bump on my arm. I knew it was a small lipoma and nothing to worry about but was getting my annual skin check so I showed it to her. I told her I need to make an appointment to have Carl, (her husband and the other doc) to take it off. I always bring them wine as they’re 25 year plus friends and always so good to us. She said, hang on, let me grab Carl. He came in and Libby said, can you just squeeze Doug in now and take this out now? He said, sure and they moved me to another room. After a couple shots of lidocaine in my forearm, Carl came in and used a punch like thing to push a hole into my skin right over the bump. He then squeezed it like it was a pimple and out came the tiny fat deposit called a lipoma. You then pull it up and snip it off, and voila, you’re done. Two stitches later and I was done. Super nice of him to squeeze me in between all their appointments to take care of my tiny bump. Carl said lots of people on keto or that lose weight get these things and they don’t know why. With me giving up all sugar and processed foods a month ago, he said that’s probably why. My arm is a little sore as it’s still an incision. You only feel it if you hit it or lean on it. At least it wasn’t like my chest a month or so ago where he actually cut me open, ha.

Next up I went to meet Chris to drop him some wine. Then a quick stop at the cigar shop for a few smokes and up the hill I went. I had a bunch of calls while driving up and down the hill which always happens.

Lori made it home by 5 and Ty was home shortly after that. Today I have calls starting at 9. Jag is in New York and already at work. He flies home Thursday night.

Time to go, have a great day, be safe, be well and God Bless.
