Epic

Yesterday was a busy day. It started out with Lori and I working until about 1 when we finally headed down to Denver to meet the boys to go to the concert. We made it to Tommy’s to meet Jagger around 3:30 so Jag could leave his car there. Then we headed out around 4:15 to pick up Ty. We thought we’d pick up our tickets early, but they hadn’t brought them down at 5. So off to dinner we went.

We managed to get into a top steak house, but Lori and I ordered the salmon which was way over cooked. They gladly took it back but that meant Lori and I really didn’t eat. We made it back to the arena around 6:30 and were inside 15 minutes later. I went to Artist Relations at Will Call and picked up our tickets which were in the 9th row, seats 1 through 4. Funny as with Bocelli, the promoter row is also #9. Great seats, super appreciative.

The boys wanted some merch, (t-shirts and stuff) and so did Uncle Tommy so we picked a t-shirt up for him too. The show started promptly at 8 and we were literally less than 20 feet from Elton. For 2 1/2 hours he played a lot his greatest hits, along with some killer B-side cuts that was nothing short of incredible.

I know most of the guys in the band, not personally, but from listening to them for 50 years. Every musician is a star themselves. From Davey Johnstone on guitar to Ray Cooper on percussion to Nigel Olsson on drums, it was amazing. These guys are all icons and have been playing for over 50 years!

The boys absolutely loved it which made us super happy and the whole thing worth it. After the show we dropped Ty and headed to Tommy’s to drop Jagger at his car. Lori and I left there at 11pm and were home by 1.

So, epic doesn’t really do the evening justice. I’m sure the boys will remember this night, along with the Rolling Stones show, long after Lori and I are at the big show in the sky. We vowed as a family to find some more shows, even if we have to travel, and go see them.

Glad we’re home but it was a drive. Today we’ll hang around the house. It’s 9am now as we slept in a bit. Have a great weekend and live life! God Bless.

Off to Denver

What a snowstorm. We didn’t get much here at the house, maybe between an inch and two and the driveway is just wet. The ski areas and mountain passes along with the front range near Denver did much better. I just saw on the news there’s a multi car accident going into Denver on 6th Avenue. Looks like dozens of cars as it’s real icy. We’re in no hurry though so we’ll leave here around noon at the earliest for Denver.

It’s 7:30 now and we’re just getting up. Lori slept downstairs for the first time in ten days. We think (I hope) she’s no longer contagious. Harley is spending the night at daycare tonight in case we spend the night in Denver. I’m planning on driving up after the concert but we’ll see. Ty was sleeping early last night as he didn’t feel all that well. Hope he’s better today.

Time for coffee so that’s it. Make it a great day and God Bless.

One more day

Tomorrow we’re headed to Denver for the Elton John concert. No snow today but they say it’ll now arrive tonight. It’s supposed to stop tomorrow morning around 6am so we’re pretty comfortable that we’ll make it down.

Lori had a long day and made it home a little after 6. I went a bought a deck of cards for Dixie and went over and played Go Fish with her. We didn’t follow the rules as I remember them exactly, but she did have a good time. Yesterday she thought she was in a strange place and that her caregiver was trying to date her. He’s a nice young Asian kid whose wife also works there. I brought him in to her room and cleared things up as she wanted me to talk to him. So sad as she was sure she wasn’t home and that this 20 something year old kid wanted to date her.

Today I’ll work around here. I moved my Denver trip to Tuesday just in case the weather got bad today which it looks like it will. Lori slept upstairs again last night just to make sure she’s no longer contagious. She was coughing and tired yesterday at work but seems to be just about over this thing.

The boys are fine. We’re looking forward to seeing them tomorrow. I think we’ll just drive home tomorrow night meaning we’ll get home around 1am. The show is over at 10:20 according to Elton’s production manager who emailed me the times and where to pick up our tickets. Should be fun.

That’s it, time to go. Think I’ll take a break from the gym today as I’ve been hitting it really hard for three days in a row now. You have to give your muscles time to rebuild.

Oh, one more thing. Yesterday I went to Whole Foods and shortages were everywhere. I also went to Safeway and City Market that had shortages too but not as bad as Whole Foods. Meat and dairy were ok but everything else was hit or miss. Vegetables were old and tired and everything was up in price. Get ready, with the diesel prices and coming fuel shortages along with no workers, it will be different in the coming months. Worst I’ve seen it so far up here.

Take care and God Bless.

Back at work

Lori made it through the day. She was tired when she made it home. Today she’s in Frisco so it’ll be a long day. She’s still sick but is getting better and is making progress every day. Tough deal.

I worked most of the day and then went to hang out with James for a few hours. He’s leaving today for the show in Florida. I’m headed to the gym in an hour and then will be busy around here all day.

Tom is still losing weight. He hit a new milestone yesterday, I think down 55 pounds! Congrats! Mom would be so happy. I took down all the Halloween stuff yesterday morning and put it away. Won’t be long until the Christmas stuff comes out. Tommy is probably on it this weekend, ha.

Ty had his windshield replaced but has to go back as they need some seal to get it all the way done on his car. He goes back next Thursday. I moved my tasting tomorrow due to the impending snow. We’ll do it next Thursday instead. Didn’t want to chance not making it down.

The silly season is almost over, six days left. Can’t wait. make it a great day and please vote for change. With the Dems in charge of the executive branch and both houses of congress, that means vote Republican! Don’t fall for the Dems last-ditch effort to blame Republicans for everything from inflation to the border and the economy when they’ve controlled everything for the past two years. The Republicans have their problems too but it’s time to give the other team the ball. Be well, God Bless.

November

Here we go, 61 days left in the year. Doesn’t seem like a long time until 2023. Lots to get done.

Lori is headed back to work for the first time in a week. I told her if she’s feeling weak she needs to come home early. Well see though as she doesn’t usually listen to me, ha.

Tom had 91 kids last night at last count. He made up 100 bags and always gives out the good stuff. We had four, our neighbor kids. They’re Dr. Cafferky’s kids who live next door. He works in Lori’s ortho group. Super cute kids and great family.

Ty is getting his windshield replaced today. Good timing with the cold weather coming. He’s doing really well in school and so is Jagger. We’re really proud of both of them.

It’s almost 6am and Lori needs to be at the office by 7:30. I went to the gym yesterday afternoon at 3 and am heading out again this morning. Lori has some rug expert coming out at 11 this morning I need to meet to check on the Persian rug in the living room. James has a show in Ft. Lauderdale on the 6th. Not sure if he is leaving today. If not, we’ll hang out for a bit.

Time to go, be well, stay safe and God Bless.

Big Win!

Big win Sunday morning. Worth getting up early. Hopefully it’s the start of something good. Today, Thursday and Friday I’m in Denver. Lots of driving. Lori is still kicking the flu. Can’t believe how bad it is.

Yesterday we hung out around the house. It’s a busy week and I’m hoping Lori turns the corner today. She was a bit better yesterday than the day before.

Time to move, boys are well and tonight is Halloween. The neighbor kids will come up but that’s probably about it. Make it a great day, God Bless.

Football in London

Almost 7:30am MST, 1:30 pm in London, and the Broncos game is about to start! I sure hope we win.

Last night with both Lori and Melanie sick, Marty and I met in Edwards and went to the Halloween party for 45 minutes or so. We threw on our cowboy gear which is basically what we wear whenever we’re hunting or shooting or in the mountains. Lots of people dressed up. We knew some people but met a lot of new ones as the girl who had the party is a new girl James is seeing. Her dad was one of the founders of Vail and a number of other ski areas and owns a soccer team in the UK. James was thrilled we came as he didn’t know a lot of people himself. We smoked a cigar and hung out a while and then Marty and I took off. Lots ofmpeople told me how authentic I looked like I was out of Yellowstone on the spinoff show 1883. Little did they know that’s what I wear most of the time. Must have been my cowboy hat and Carhart coat. We stopped at Craftsman and had a burger before each heading our separate way home. I was home by 8 to watch us lose the hockey game, crap.

Tomorrow of course is Halloween. We probably won’t have a lot of kids up here. Snow is still on the ground but is melting. I think we’re getting another blast at the end of the week.

The game is starting now so time to go. Make it a great day, be safe, and take care, Go Broncos and God Bless.

Party Party

This afternoon at 4:30 we have a Halloween party to go to. I think Lori should be feeling well enough to go but if not, we’ll skip it. I finally made her go to the doctor yesterday and turns out she had the flu! It hit her hard. The doctor said she was on the tail end and no longer contagious, ugh. After seeing how sick Lori was, I don’t think I’ve ever had the flu. She caught it right after she got the flu shot, hmm.

I was down to and back up from Denver by noon. One more workday in October, that’s Monday. Then we’re on to November. Its tough right now as shipping is catching up with ordering and the whole Country is in a cash correction period. This means that orders that were clogged up in transit due to long shipping times have now sped up and if you add in the recession we’re in, (no matter what Sleepy Joe tells you), people are buying less and there’s a glut of supply. Lots of things are still unavailable but some things are overstocked so watch for sales and take advantage of them when you can. All the major retailers ordered inventory months ago and are not ordering anything now. The things that are available though, have all gone up in price, wine included. Hence, the cash correction period for businesses.

Serena, Matt and Annette are all set. I managed to get tickets at a pretty good deal considering it’s a big travel week. It’ll be fun.

It’s warming up and should be nice for the foreseeable future. Good timing for the kiddos on Monday as they go trick or treating. Hard to believe November is only a few days away.

Think I’ll head to the gym. Lori is still sleeping. Harley sleeps most of the night upstairs with her keeping an eye on her. She comes down for breakfast around 5:30 when I usually wake up, Harley not Lori, ha. Enjoy the weekend. The Bronco’s play in London tomorrow morning at 7:30 MST. Man we need a win! God Bless everyone and especially God Bless the Denver Broncos!

Nice

We had a good snowfall yesterday with 5 to 6 inches of wet snow. It took me an hour to shovel the driveway and was a good workout. After that I worked on my computer and made a bunch of phone calls as there’s only a few days left in the month. More of that today and Monday.

In the afternoon I went to see Jerilu, my doctor, as I’ve had a bunch of crusty sleep in my right eye in the morning. Wanted to make sure it wasn’t something like pink eye. Turns out it is allergies. After that we all went to James for cigar night. Lori is still trying to recoup from the cold or flu. Whatever she has, it hit her hard. Not sure we’ll make the Halloween party tomorrow night after all. I’m making a quick trip to Denver this morning and should be back around noon. The roads are clear and no snow is in the forecast. They say it’ll be warming up for the next five days.

The boys are doing well. I made an appointment for Ty to get his windshield fixed on Tuesday as the crack he had spread with the cold weather. I’m trying hard to avoid the endless crap surrounding the midterms. It’s non-stop and overwhelming. One thing is fact, the economy is in trouble, crime is up and things won’t be getting better anytime soon. Time for a change for sure.

Yesterday I was texting with Serena, and she and her husband Matt, (who is a sushi chef, yum), are coming for Thanksgiving! The boys love them and are thrilled. Serena said maybe Annette (Lori and Serena’s mom) might come too! Annette, Serena will call you today! We’ll get an airbed or go out and buy a bed to put in my office so everyone has a place to sleep. The best thing about it is Serena loves turkey! Lori hates it. So now we’ll be having turkey, and surf and turf, whoo hoo. We’re booking some sushi restaurants now so Matt can go see some different places while here.

Time to get moving. Hope everyone is doing well. I’m making Lori go to the doctor this morning even though she no longer has a fever. I’ll go see Dixie and take her some food I bought her at Costco the other day. Make it a great weekend, be safe and God Bless.

SNOW!

Just woke up to about six inches of snow here at home. A buddy just texted that there is about a foot in Vail! It’s all over but was a good blast. Lori had a fever last night along with her sore throat and cold. Her fever is gone so we’re hoping she turned the corner. She slept upstairs so I hopefully don’t get sick. As soon as I’m done with the blog I’ll head out to shovel. I love shoveling snow!

Yesterday I headed out for Colorado Springs only to get turned around in Vail at 7am as the pass was closed. I managed to get my business done over the phone so all good. Lori seems better today but worked most of the day from the couch. The news just said there’s a fatal crash by Georgetown. Ugh, so sad when anyone dies in a car crash which happens almost daily. That’s one reason why we drive big cars! There’s blue sky peeking through the clouds outside right now, beautiful.

Ty was going to the Nuggets game last night but tickets were too expensive. Good game as we beat the Lakers. It was on tv. I talked with Robi yesterday who is doing well. Wish they’d come up for a visit! Cigar night tonight at James. We were texting last night as we’re trying to get our dates set for Alaska next year. He has two shows in Phoenix September 1st and 3rd so hopefully we can leave the 4th.

We’re going to have some more contests on the blog as Robi wants to win a prize too! Robert’s is going out today! Time to get moving. Make it a great day and God Bless.
