Happy Birthday Mom!

HB83, that’s what Ty wrote on Grandma’s card as it stands for Happy Birthday, 83 years old! Quite the accomplishment, 83 years old. Here’s to another 20 or so for ya!

We made it to Denver by about 10am and proceeded to get some things done before meeting up with Tom, Ali and Mom for lunch at La Loma, our favorite mexican restaurant. Lori went on a long walk, (probably 7 or 8 miles) with her friend Andrea and will for sure be paying for it today. She was already sore last night or I guess before she even finished the walk!

We barely made it home as they closed the highway right after we made it through. Semis’ and cars were spun out all over the place with the snow blowing sideways. Then at Frisco we noticed that they also closed the highway to Denver as well. We made it over Vail pass just in time as it was getting pretty dicey there too. This morning we have 5 or 6 inches but the main storm is supposed to arrive tonight. We stopped for essentials (groceries) on the way home. We’re usually pretty stocked up and could go a month or more if we had to but picked up fresh veggies, milk and other perishables. Today I’ll put a locally raised  chuck roast in the crock pot and finish it off this afternoon with carrots, potato’s and celery. I’m cooking it in a little red wine and fresh bison stock. (buffalo to those of you who don’t know the difference) Everyone is still sleeping but Mojo. Guess I’ll run to clean up a bit. Hope Mom has a great day. We bought her some new tennis shoes which seem to fit and will hopefully work out for her. Take care and God Bless.

Off to Denver

As you know, tomorrow is my Mom’s birthday. We decided to go see her today to celebrate as a big snowstorm is arriving tomorrow. They say 1 1/2 to 2 feet up here and maybe the same in Denver. Not sure if you California folks know, but 18 inches is a lot of snow! Now they haven’t had a snow day up here at the kids school (where they close school) in over 3 years (as we’re used to it), but 2 feet just might shut down the school. Hopefully the big snow will miss us as we’re right on the edge of the storm. It’s 6am and I’d like to get on the road by 7:30 but I’ll let everyone sleep a bit. I need to pick up a few things in Denver before heading over to my Mom’s. First up is new floor mats I ordered yesterday for Lori’s new car, as with all this snow coming, we have to get them today. The kids aren’t very good about getting the snow off their boots before jumping in the car.

Ty had a great day snowboarding and said the snow was great. His teacher, unsolicited, told Lori how great he’s doing in school. Apparently he’s been going in during recess to work on things he needs help with. She said his work ethic is 100% improved from the first of the year. That’s great news as in the end, it all falls on him. I told him I’ll leave it all up to him to keep his grades up and he seems to have taken it seriously.

Mojo was supposed to be in doggie day camp all week living with a trainer and his family but the guys wife ended up in the hospital so we’re not sure when he’s going. He’s doing a lot better these days around other dogs. maybe he knows he was going for some training! Guess I’ll run, hope everyone is well. Take care and GB and if you’re here in Colorado, get ready for the snow!

Snow’s a coming

A big storm is headed this way, so they say. It’s supposed to hit Sunday so tomorrow we’ll go to Denver to celebrate my Mom’s birthday. Yesterday Jagger took Vale skiing for his first time and did a great job teaching him. Luisa said what amazing parents we are as he was such a good kid. They even tipped him $60 and last night she said she’s sending him something more for his savings account as it was one of the best days of Vale’s life.

Ty lost two teeth last night. Today he’ll go skiing with his group at school while Jag is working on his science project. I have lots of work to do as well. We didn’t watch much of the debate. Not sure who they say won or what. All I know is we can’t let the criminal Hillary win under any circumstances. Frankly I think she’ll get indicted and Biden will swoop in at the last minute. Oh well, I’ll let it go, nothing will probably happen to her anyhow. It is good to see both her and Bill’s crowds and popularity dropping hard. Maybe there’s hope for the American people afterall. God Bless.

Fun time

Luisa and the family made it up here around 4pm and came over soon after. We visited until about 6:30 when we went to pick up Lori from her meeting and then all went to sushi for dinner. A few hours later we wrapped up and headed home. Jag is going to take school off today to teach Vale (Luisa’s 9 year old) how to ski. Meanwhile I’m back in Big D one more time. Ty wanted to go but said he has too much work at school, good choice by him. That’s it for the day as I’m going to try to wash Lori’s car before I leave at 6:45 and it’s now 5:30. Hope all’s well, take care and GB.

Luisa in town

Some of you might remember Luisa who works for me. She initially moved to Colorado over 10 years ago to work for me but now lives in Virginia. They (her husband Steve and son Valentine, or Vale) are here for a family wedding. They’re all coming up to Vail and staying in a hotel tonight to visit us. Meanwhile Lori is working away as am I.

Yesterday we ended up getting a new car, sort of. It’s a 2015 Suburban and we had a 2015 Tahoe so we basically swapped one for one. This is a pre-owned demo from my buddy who is the sales manager at the dealer. Our payment stays the same and it has 20,000 less miles, more room and the luxury package. It was a good move for us as the Tahoe was just too small.

I do have a meeting in Denver again today and then again tomorrow. Then I should be done for a few weeks except Grandma’s birthday is next Sunday. We’ll probably go down and see her this weekend. Time to run as I need to get everyone moving so I can get down and up by noon. The Bronco’s are going to the Super Bowl! I know you know but I just like saying it! God Bless.

Tired

We’re all so tired these days. Guess a Bronco game will do that to ya. Lori has a 7am meeting and I need to be at the warehouse by 9:30 in Denver. Hopefully I’ll be back up here by 2 or so. Luisa and her family arrived in Denver last night for a week and will be up here tomorrow. Lori has a dinner meeting after work, Jag has nordic and I have a few calls as I’m hiring a new girl in the Northwest. I watched a replay of the Bronco game last night which was pretty fun. We didn’t play our best, especially on offense, so there’s always hope. Tommy texted that once again no one is giving us a chance. I think this is perfect, better to be the underdog. Time to run. Oh we didn’t draw Super Bowl tickets, I guess this is good as if we did, we would have had to go!  GB

They were all wrong!

No one gave us a chance. The hated, powerful Patriots were coming to town to embarrass the Denver Broncos and go to the Super Bowl. It was if it was just an annoying stop on their way to being anointed World Champs again. But wait, some guys in Denver decided that they just didn’t want things to go that way. Despite the officials making bad call after bad call against them, in the end the Denver Broncos won and are now headed to their 8th Super Bowl which is tied for the most in history. Now it’s only the morning after, but get ready as no one will once again give us a chance against the Carolina Panthers. Finally one sportscaster said this morning, I’m done doubting the Denver defense! Maybe there are a few guys around now on our side.

We made it down to Elway’s (restaurant) by 10am for a good brunch before the game. By 11:15 we were in the stadium with 77,000 plus crazy fans. There really weren’t very many Patriot fans. Nothing like last week when there were lots of Steeler fans. From kick off until the game ended, the crowd and us, never stopped screaming and yelling and cheering for our team. We took the lead early and never trailed. It was a tough defensive game but our defense destroyed the Patriots and pounded Brady (their QB) time after time. In the end it came down to them trying to tie the game on a 2 point play but it wasn’t in the stars. It was electric, historic and something everyone there will remember for their entire life. 2 weeks and one more win to go.

We made it home by 7pm and began to wind down. Everyone was still pumped, hell, we’re still pumped this morning! Anyhow back to work and school but it was one for the ages, by the way, Lori, Jag and I will be communicating by writing all day as all three of us have lost our voices from yelling all afternoon! Go Broncos and God Bless.

The Big Game

Well, here we go, today at 1pm MST is the big game. Hopefully the right team, America’s Team, God’s Team, The Denver Bronco’s, will win. We’re leaving at 8am and will be at Elway’s Restaurant by 10:15 for brunch before the game. Go Bronco’s!

Yesterday Lori and I did some cleaning. She managed to get our bathroom spotless which was a big feat as she had tons of girlie stuff all over the place. We also chipped, melted, and shoveled most of the ice off the deck. Lori did a lot and is already sore today! There’s still a good chunk but most is all gone. It was heavy and about 2 feet thick.

Time to run, we’re supposed to get a little rain/snow mix by the second half. Please please say a prayer for the Bronco’s, as we need all the help we can get. Go Bronco’s and God Bless.

Sleep, what a wonderful thing

We all like sleeping right? We all need sleep, some more than others. Well, how do you sleep is the question. Do you sleep soundly? Do you dream, and if so, do you have good, bad or crazy dreams. I used to think the older you get the more you dream but now I really think there are all kinds of  factors that enter into what kind of sleep you have. Alcohol, the foods you eat, the altitude, what you watch on tv and even your state of mind before you go to bed, all enter into whether or not you’ll have a good night’s sleep. So, just for fun and to try to get some participation, how do you sleep? Do you dream and if so, are they good or bad? This is your homework for tomorrow, don’t be the person who disappoints the teacher!

So yesterday was more of the same for Lori and I. Work and more work. The boys pretty much had a play day. Jag and I did make it to Costco in the afternoon along with a stop at the dermatologist. Today we’re going snowshoeing for some exercise. On Monday Mojo goes away for a week to a dog whisperer to learn how to walk with us around town off leash and some other good manners. The guy we found is supposedly the guy so we’re all excited for his doggie training. Tomorrow of course is the big football game. Not many people are giving Denver a chance but that’s ok, we still believe in our team, especially our defense. Time to run, today go buy some extra food and start taking a little cash out of the bank each week and stash it at home. It can only help to be a little prepared! Have a great day and God Bless.

Ski Friday, again

The good thing about Ski Friday is it makes me make time to go skiing with the boys. The bad thing is it’s sometimes hard to fit all my work in when I’m out half the day. But remember, no one is on their death bed saying I wish I worked more!

We decided to go out for sushi last night for dinner. We’re all super excited for the game this Sunday. Turns out Lori is taking one of her friends (and co-worker) along with Jagger and me. Yesterday they made another change Clinic wide thanks to Lori’s suggestion. In fact in this week alone, she’s responsible for about $400,000 in annual savings for the Clinic! They’d better watch out or she’ll soon be running the whole place and all the doctors!

I’ll leave it at that, I’ve been staying away from politics as it’s comical, you have Hillary the Liar, and now the Donald for some reason thinks it’s a good thing to get an endorsement from none other than that bimbo Sarah Palin! Saturday Night Live should be fun this week. Our Country sure is in trouble if that’s who it comes down to for President. Gotta run before I go off and offend someone! God Bless.
