2 showings today

We wish someone would buy our house already, say a big prayer this morning and maybe, just maybe, with the power of prayer, it’ll sell. Yesterday we worked on the outside and inside and hired James to help with the yard. I think he was going to get some grass planted in the bare spots in the afternoon. We couldn’t afford him but were in one of those situations where we also couldn’t afford not to get it done. We then grabbed the boys and took a load up to the mountains along with Ben from across the street who just returned from Walla Walla Wa where he was for a few weeks. Upon arriving in the hills we unloaded more stuff and then Lori and I ran to stop by some friends on the way to Home Depot for some hangers and rugs. We then headed home and grabbed the 3 kids to head out to dinner.

On the way home from dinner at 6:30 we decided to head down to Eagle to go to the County Fair. We were there until about 9pm letting the boys have fun on the rides and play the carnival games. Turns out Ty, with his superior athletic ability, won a goldfish by throwing a ping pong ball into a tiny little glass fish bowl on a large spinning circular platform. He is all excited and has named his new pet Goldie. It reminded me of the time when we were kids and we went to Cheyenne Frontier Days and my Mom won a duck! She named it Ralph but soon had to change it to Ralphina when it started laying eggs. Eventually a dog or a fox found out we had a duck and that was it. Anyhow the kids were in heaven at the fair, what kid wouldn’t at 11 and 13 years old. Here in Eagle it was like being in Mayberry from the Andy Griffith Show. It really has that small town type of vibe.

We have two showings today, one at 9 and the other at 10 so we’ll get home around 11. It’s so nice up here with the cool breeze in the morning. We’re strategically arranging everything as it’s a lot smaller than our house. It forces you to really get rid of stuff that’s useless which is a good exercise in itself. I think I’ll need to rent an office space for me as there’s just not enough room.

Hope all’s well and remember, say a prayer now, even if you don’t regularly pray! It will help!

God Bless.

2 weeks left

That’s right, 2 weeks from today we’ll head up the road for Lori to start her new job. I’m sure the boys and I will be running back and forth 4 or 5 times a week but the misses will be working at her new job starting 2 weeks from Monday.

She trained her replacement yesterday who needs some work but could be a good fit. Of course nobody will be as good as Lori. I asked her if the new girl knew she had to work 10 and 12 hour days and Lori said she hopes so.

Ty went to the doctor for his 11 year old physical and they said he’s super healthy and  is on pace to be 6’2″ or taller while Jagger should be around 6’4″. Not sure how much we believe those growth charts as if you look at Jag’s feet, he’ll be much taller. The doctor did say Ty would grow a lot in the next year. Right now he’s 5 foot 1 1/2 inches and Jagger is 5 foot 10 1/2 inches.

We have some work to do around the house before a 10am showing and then we have another one tomorrow morning at 9am. Not sure if anyone read the paper but they found a squirrel at a local park (about 3 miles away) that had the bubonic plague! This sounds like something from the middle ages, super. Mid 90’s here today which is just too damn hot.

I need to run to the gym so time to get running. We went to Bonefish Grill for dinner as we try not to cook so we don’t mess up the kitchen. Hope all’s well, have a great weekend and God Bless.

Friday

Today it’s more of the same, my truck goes in for some work, Ty has a doctor appointment for his 11 year old physical, Lori is training her replacement who she hired yesterday and Jag will be sleeping in. Tomorrow we need to make a run up the hill and the boys I think are going to Elitches with the church.

We managed to get our rifles sighted in yesterday. Jag shot a dozen or so rounds and is a really good shot. I was using a 308 and he hit small targets at both 500 and 600 yards. To put that in perspective, there’s guys who have been shooting for years that can’t hit 12 inch targets at that distance. It was some good shooting. Hope his shoulder isn’t too sore today!

Time to run, lots to do once again, hope you all are well. God Bless.

Warming up

Here comes the heat. It’s going to be in the mid 90’s so they say. Right now it feels nice and cool outside and is a good morning but here it comes. Maybe the almost daily rain we’ve had all year is finally gone. As soon as the heat comes, people will be begging for the rain. So get ready, the news just said 80 degrees by 8am.

There’s lots of people jogging by the house, all women so far. The boys and I are taking off for Buena Vista around 7:30 so time to get moving. We’re headed up to the rifle range to sight in a few rifles for my elk hunt at the end of August. Before that we need to clean up the house a bit, make the beds, vacuum and take out the trash so time to get moving. Hope all’s well, God Bless.

One thing at a time

Another day, another list of things to do. The way to tackle a large problem is to break it down into a bunch of little problems and then tackle them one at a time. Then before you know it, the small victories add up and soon, the big problem isn’t so big anymore. That’s kind of how it is around here. If we think back two months ago and look at all we’ve accomplished, we’ve done a lot! Anyhow we’re not done yet so time to stay after it, one small task at a time.

I’d like to make another run to Vail this morning but we’ll see. If not, I’ll at least be making a few trips to the storage unit. Meanwhile Lori is working her butt off. She made it to work by 8am yesterday morning and didn’t leave until after 6. Dr. R is lucky she’s such a good employee as lots of people just check out once they have a new job, but not Lori. If everyone, or even half the people in the Country had her work ethic, we wouldn’t be in the mess we’re in.

The boys had a good day and then I dropped them at church around 3. Vinny called and when I said they were at camp, he said to his Mom, “Mom, you forgot to sign me up!”. I told Tracey to just take him over as it starts at 5 and they’d gladly let him join. He and she were both thrilled and when I picked up the boys, Vinny said he had a blast and would be back today. It’s really good for the kids to build a good foundation with God while they’re young.

That’s about it, hope you all are doing well, soon it will be fall and then winter so get ready, God Bless.

Running out of time

It seems each day we have so much more to do than we have time. We need some sort of holiday so we can just sleep. Soon it’ll be August and then before you know it, winter. Summer has sort of been non existent this year and if I remember right, was pretty much missing last year too.

Today the boys are going to Elitche’s which is a giant amusement park downtown with water slides and stuff. They went to church around 3 yesterday and I picked them up at 8. I managed to go to the gym around 4pm which was a much needed break. I’m sure I’ll be sore later today or tomorrow as I did way too much.

The boys and I made a quick trip to Vail to take a bunch of boxes and meat from our freezer up. We left around 11 and were back a bit after 2pm. That’s about it, lots more to do each and every day, take care and God Bless.

A new week

Did you see this?

US Senator: Go To An ATM…Draw Out Everything

Why would one of the most powerful senators in DC beg his wife to go to an ATM and take out everything it would let her?

According to reports, Richard Burr – now the Chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee – called his wife on a Friday night to tell her he wasn’t coming home for the weekend.

Then he made a disturbing request: “Tonight, I want you to go to the ATM machine, and I want you to draw out everything it will let you take.” Hmmm, what’s he know that we don’t?

Now that that’s out of the way and you’ll all be going to the bank later today, here’s what happened yesterday.

We made it home around 10am from the hills. We were a bit tired so we pretty much laid around the house for a few hours before getting to work. At 3pm I dropped the kids at bible camp at the church and then we really got down and dirty upstairs cleaning out our closets. We decided to focus on shoes and in the end had about 10 boxes full of shoes and boots all labeled and ready to go. Our closets have never been so clean, at least on the floor! This morning I’ll load them all into there truck for a trip to the storage unit later in the day.

Lori has a big week and so do I as next week, as I said, we’ll be in California for 4 days. Sometime this week Lori needs to get her hair done and get all pretty for her new job. We gave our ottoman away to James who will make sure someone uses it as our family room looks much larger without it. It was beat up and we were going to get rid of it anyhow.

The boys had a great time at bible camp. Jag is a team leader and it looks like they’re going to make Ty a helper too. They both had a good time. I guess there’s three churches that are involved. They’re working really well together which is nice.

Time to run so I can get some sleep as I’m actually writing this late Sunday night so I can go to the gym this morning. We have an agent coming at 9:30 to preview our house today so there’s lots to do before he or she arrives.

Hope everyone is doing well, have a great week and God Bless.

Tired

It’s hard work looking at houses, getting ready to move and constantly keeping you house ready to show to perspective buyers. Yesterday we looked at a few more and finally found one we love but of course first we need to sell ours and then figure out a way to get financed for a new house. On top of that we need to get the kids school situation figured out and get to California for the memorial service.

This coming week, starting tonight, the boys have bible camp each night from 5 until 8 and then the following week we go to California. Then we hurry back, Lori works one more week in Denver and then starts her new venture up here. To put in in context, Lori starts 3 weeks from tomorrow at her new job!

It’s 7am and we’ll soon rush down the hill for church hoping we make it in time. We had another showing yesterday but no offers as of yet. Say a prayer that we get the house sold soon.

Yesterday we dropped the boys at the movies to see Minions. We wouldn’t feel comfortable doing that in Denver but up here, you can. We then stopped by some friends house who we hadn’t seen in a while to reconnect. It was good to see them. We actually have more friends up here than in Denver so we have that going for us. We’re running out of time so time to run, hope all’s well, have a great Sunday and God Bless.

Won’t miss traffic

While we’ll miss a lot of things about Denver, we sure won’t miss the traffic. We made it out of town by about 5:30 last night and as soon as we hit Evergreen, the highway was at a dead stop. I managed to get off and take old Highway 40 around most of it but it still took us over 2 hours for what should have been a 75 minute drive. What’s worse was the traffic in town. I had to go to Park Meadows earlier in the day and Lori’s drive to and from work were both horrendous. There’s just too many people on the roads, period.

Anyhow the five of us and Mojo, (Ty brought Jack along) made it here by 7:30 or so and settled in to the fresh mountain air. We had 4 people look at the house yesterday but no offers yet. We know how that goes though as we’ve looked at a lot of houses and haven’t made any offers either. Hopefully that’ll change soon as it’s hard to keep it clean.

This morning we’ll be in Eagle by 10am looking at 3 houses and then will take the boys to the Eagle County Fair. It’s an old time county fair like the ones my Mom and Grandma Dixie would have gone to when they were kids. We have to squeeze in some fun for the boys.

Mojo has been outside already, had his breakfast, and the coffee is on while everyone else is still sleeping. Guess I’ll run, hope all’s well, God Bless.

Before I go, one quick little warning from the Head of the Senate Intelligence Committee,

US Senator: Go To An ATM…Draw Out Everything

If you want to know why, let me know, time is running out!

Friday, I think

As I said the other day, it’s hard to keep the days straight. The computer and paper says today is Friday but if it wasn’t in writing, we wouldn’t be sure. Yesterday I had some running around to do and have some more today.

We’re hoping Lori can get out of work a few hours early today so we can get a jump on the weekend traffic. Last week we left at 4pm which was just about perfect as it put us up in the mountains by about 6 after stopping at the grocery store.

So yesterday we had a terrorist attack in a gun free zone. Can anyone explain why the armed forces are not armed? Apparently some guy from Yemen who was being watched, went and shot up a couple of recruiting centers back east. Not good. Of course many other countries deal with this kind of tragedy weekly or daily. When something like this happens here, it’s non stop 24 hour coverage on every single channel. The thing that amazes me is that anyone is surprised by this. It’s just a matter of time before it becomes more and more frequent. If anything, I’m surprised it hasn’t happened more, like way more. These people don’t care about life, are delusional and 100% committed to destroying us. We were talking as a family how and why people join up and many of them are people or kids that our society casts out or in some cases has bullied (when they were kids) and then some radical faction comes along and takes them in and gives them a sense of belonging. Social media doesn’t help either as people can reach across borders and indoctrinate kids right in their own bedroom. I often say electronics are like a drug. Kids are sucked in and many believe anything they read. Rudy Guiliani says get ready as this is the new normal. Of course just wait as I’m sure the govt will somehow use this to suppress more and more of our rights. I’ll stop now but as they say, keep your powder dry.

Guess I’ll run, hope all’s well, take care and God Bless.
