All a blur

We’re turned so upside down I don’t even know what to write today. Yesterday we were up and down from Eagle by 2pm and then Lori rushed off to work. Today I have just about as much driving but it’s all in the Denver area. I ended up taking Ty back to the doctor as he’s still trying to kick his cold or cough or whatever it is. Hopefully the steroid inhaler they gave us will work.

The days seem to be just running together and as Lori says, we just don’t seem to have enough time to get things done. Maybe if we had one 100 hour day, we could both get caught up.

Our morning showing cancelled but the afternoon people supposedly really loved the house, but no offer yet. It’s only been a day and a half but come on! Maybe today, say a prayer!

That’s it, time to run, hope all’s well, God Bless.

Let the showings begin

Ok, everyone say a prayer our house sells today. Now I know that’d be a miracle but it doesn’t hurt to pray. In fact, the power of prayer is pretty powerful, don’t underestimate it.

We had our first showing last night but I think it was a guy who flips houses as he looked like he just came off a job and was by himself except with the realtor.  This morning at 9:30 we have another one but we’ll be in the mountains at a school. Then we need to rush down the hill as Lori has an interview at 2:45.

The house is literally the cleanest it’s ever been, even cleaner than when we moved in! Not sure how long we can keep it this way, it’s hard.

Time to run as it’s 5:43 and we need to all be showered and on the road by 7. We’d better get used to it as this is about the same time we’ll need to be up and moving for school in a little more than a month.

Take care and God Bless.

Wine be gone

I managed to get samples boxed up and sent off to the East Coast yesterday which freed up some space in the kitchen. Then it was time to clean up the mess I had made. Our house officially went on the market yesterday but we are fine tuning the brochure and MLS listing as there were some mistakes which there always are. They had listed us as having wood siding and as a Cape Cod style house and had the schools wrong, but it will all be fixed by 8:30 this morning. Although it’s a lot of work, it’s kind of exciting.

This morning I’m running to the distributor to get Aunt Ali some wine before it’s all gone. She likes a particular kind we’re closing out, wouldn’t you know it.

It’s 5:15 am and the Pres was just on tv talking about a deal he’s making with Iran. The kicker here is that we gave Iran the ability to have 14 days notice of any inspection, yea, that’ll work. In return, we will release over $100 Billion dollars to them. These are the guys who chant death to America daily. He’s one tough negotiator, (that’s sarcasm) . This administration is such a mess they’d even make Hillary look like an upgrade which is saying a lot. God help us.

Guess I’ll run, time to start the day. Hope all’s well, God Bless.

Another week

Here we go, first problem is Lori’s back has been out for 2 or 3 days now. She’s not doing well. The older you get and the more often it goes out, the worse it gets. Hopefully she can get it loosened up soon. She needs to get back to Pilates and Yoga when we get to the mountains.

Yesterday I boxed up 15 boxes of wine and have 11 more this morning and then it’ll be off to Fed Ex. I did make it to the gym which was long overdue. First up today I have my Monday morning conference call and need to clean up a bit more in the basement. Maybe I can get some wine boxed before the call.

It was hot here yesterday, like in the high 90’s but will be cooler, thankfully, today. Time to run, hope all’s well, God Bless.

Down the hill

7am at 8000 feet, I just took Mojo for his morning walk up the hill and now need to get moving. Today I need to clean out our basement and my office and we need to put a bunch of boxes and clothes away or take them to storage. I think Jag and Ty are going with Vinny to the lake where his parents have a boat. We’ll know more when we get down the hill.

Yesterday we looked at a bunch of houses. There are some amazing deals up here with owner financing but they just didn’t fit. Either the kitchen was too small for the house or the layout was really funky (you should have seen this one!), or something else was just not right. Most all of them have nice mother in law apartments for visitors! The big pressure for us is where the kids will go to school. If we can get into Eagle Ranch the kids can go to public school in Eagle. Lots to do.

Time to run, hope all’s well, take care and God Bless.

Back in the mountains

About 4pm we loaded up the dog, some more gear and one extra passenger (the infamous Vinny) and headed up the hill. After a quick stop in Frisco at Whole Foods, we pulled in about 6pm. Lori threw together some hot dogs for the boys while I unpacked another load of stuff from the city.

Yesterday we had pictures taken of the house inside and out before heading downtown for a haircut. After that we pretty much just packed things up around the house. On Monday, the house will officially be on the market! Pray it sells quick!

Today the boys will probably walk down to the Minturn Farmers Market while Lori and I run down valley to Eagle to look at a few houses. There are a few available with owner financing which we’ll look at as that’s too good of a deal to pass up. We might make it down the hill tonight so we can stop in to Aunt Ali’s b-day party but we told them not to count on us for dinner. If we miss it, Happy Birthday again to Aunt Ali!

Hope all’s well, it’s beautiful up here again, it just doesn’t compare to the city. The sky is the bluest blue you’ve ever seen and the white clouds provide a sharp contrast looking like cotton balls just thrown up in the sky. Throw in the green pastures and purple mountains due to all the rain and it’s amazing. I sort of sound like Lori!

No politics today, they are easy to forget up here, thankfully. Take care, God Bless

Looking good!

I have to admit, the house is looking good! The painters were back at 8am until about 3 and the cleaners, four of them, were here from 10:30 until about 2. In the end, we’re just about set for pictures today. First though, I need to finish cleaning out the wine cellar, clean up my desk in the basement, get all the clothes put away off the dryer and finally, clean off the fainting couch upstairs. The garage is what it is. To throw a wrench into the whole day, I have a pallet of wine arriving sometime this morning which needs to be unpacked and then repacked into boxes and then sent or picked up by Fed Ex to go to Georgia, Virginia and South Carolina. Thankfully it’s only about 40 cases meaning only 10 will stay here which will have to sit in the house somewhere. So there you have it, if we were looking for a house in this neighborhood, we’d buy this! Who knows, it could sell in a day or take months. I’m not planning on it selling right away as that wouldn’t be very smart but it’d sure be nice.

The painters painted just about everything yesterday. They did a really good job and it was a pretty good deal too. These were some of those hard working illegals who were good people, not the bad ones. I think there’s far more hard working immigrants who just want a better life than criminals but there are too many criminals. Even these guys hate the bad guys. One guys wife still is in Mexico and he sends money home weekly. He and his 8 year old son live here. Just a different World. Not sure they pay taxes as they only take checks or cash but they work hard and are good people.

It’s now 6am and we’d better get moving. We went out to dinner last night so we didn’t mess up the kitchen. I told the kids they can’t eat in the house anywhere anymore until it sells! Time to run, hope all’s well, God Bless.

Up early

Yesterday we had the painters (our house cleaners brother in law) here most of the day painting the master bedroom and kitchen dining room ceilings and the entire mud room. Today they are back for the master bath ceiling, the hall above the stairs, the tv room ceiling and the two front doors. We might have them do all the cabinets in the tv room too but we’ll see. It sure is looking nice around here. We were saying how we should have done this years ago!

Meanwhile the house cleaners arrive at 10:30 to get going on the deep clean. The kids did a really good job on their rooms, much better than I would have thought. At 4:30 we made another trip to the storage unit before Lori made it home around 6. It’s getting pretty exciting as we are realizing just how fast things are happening and how soon we’ll be in a new situation. Hold on!

Now to the real excitement of the day yesterday. Not sure if you noticed but the NY Stock Exchange, United Airlines, the New York Times and other smaller locales like most of Seattle, all lost their internet access and/or power. Now as far as your concerned, this was all a big coincidence with everyone having outages at the same time, according to the govt. All I have to say is if you believe that, I have some beach front property to sell you in Kansas. Do you really believe a major airline, the stock exchange and a major newspaper with computer networks all in different places across the Country, all had simultaneous outages? Come on. In fact, if you want to see just how vulnerable we are to computer hacks, which can shut down life as we know it, click on the link below. This will show you a real time map of hacks going on around the World. Just click here, map.norsecorp.com.

Now with the stock exchange, I think the govt shut it down using a tech glitch as an excuse as all other markets around the World were in free fall (China lost 7 %!) and after a 200 point drop in an hour, they shut it down. Anyhow, now is the time to buy food people. Get it while you can.

Guess I’ll run but click on the link or cut and paste it, pretty interesting. Hope you all are well, God Bless.

Arrggh, don’t fly in the afternoon

Against my better judgement I booked a 3:30 flight out of New York. I always take the first flight out each morning when I travel, especially from New York, as the later in the day, the better chance of delays. Well sure enough, we took off an hour and 20 minutes after scheduled take off. We had to wait on the pilots whose plane from Chicago was late due to weather. On top of that, I was on one of the new Airbus 320’s that has seats that are horrible. They have zero padding. The airlines were thinking with thinner seats they could squeeze in an extra row or two, super.

Anyhow we managed to make up some time by flying at 520 miles per hour which put us in only 20 minutes late. By 7:30, I was home. Now the real work starts. Elvia comes to deep clean at 2 and we’re no where close to being ready for her. So in a few minutes, I’ll get busy.

Everyone is fine but Ty is still trying to kick his cold. Jag and Lori are doing well.

That’s it, time to run, hope all’s well, take care and God Bless.

A long day

My flight was ok for a cross country flight and we landed in Boston just before 2pm. I called home and Jagger just woke up 15 minutes earlier meaning 11:45am in Denver. About an hour later we made it to our meeting which lasted about 90 minutes and went great. It was good I made the trip. This morning I have another meeting here in New York at 11am and then will head to the airport.

My room is small but was a pretty good deal at $250. My breakfast just arrived which is two cups of coffee, 2 eggs and bacon at a cost of $43! I think they charged me $3 for cream for my coffee, wow. After my meeting yesterday we drove from Boston to New York arriving around 8pm. I quickly changed and then went downstairs to meet Lorenzo so we could make a 9pm dinner with my good friend Laura. She’s now running the exclusive Mandarin Hotel which has suites that go for $30,000 to $40,000 a night. Most clients are from the Middle East but she also gets Oprah from time to time and other wealthy (or stupid to me as anyone that’s spend that on a room for a night no matter how much money they have is stupid!) people like the owners of the Triple Crown race horse. Anyhow she was going to put me up there but I opted for my little room a block from my meeting. Maybe next time.

It was great to see her as she wanted to have dinner so I could meet her new boyfriend. She introduced me as her big brother and was so cute as I could tell she was looking for my approval all night. He’s a nice guy and I’m happy for her as she hasn’t dated anyone in years as she works too much. She looked good and misses Lori too. Finally a little after a great dinner at 11pm Lorenzo and I had to stop by a bar to meet Eric who is a friend and former business associate who now works for another company. We managed to get out of there in 10 minutes thankfully and I was in bed by midnight.

So that’s it for me from the Big Apple. It was nice being in the city last night as it was sort of deserted as most people are still not back from the long weekend. It was like a movie it was so quiet. Hopefully the traffic to the airport will be quiet too! Lori and the kids sound fine and I’ll be in Denver by 6 with no delays and home before 7. God Bless.
