Snow

Had some snow in Vail yesterday but nothing at the house. Not sure if we had our first freeze or not last night. If not, it won’t be long.

Looks like we’re going to Costa Rica for a medical conference in March. Dr. B is paying for us and Lori wants to go, so go we will. We’ll do some fishing down there for sure.

Marty is finally feeling a bit better. Yesterday was one week post op. It’ll take time though as it was a big surgery. He’s bored as he can’t do anything but lay around.

Our Ricky Bobby jackets came yesterday for our Halloween costumes. Should be a pretty easy costume. More shootings in Denver, no surprise there. The news now has normalized it, just saying, “she was only shot in the leg and will be fine”, like, no big deal. When that happens, you know we’re in trouble as a society. This particular shooting was a robbery in Ft. Collins, which isn’t exactly a hotbed of crime.

Oh, we gave another $400 million to the endless war in Ukraine yesterday. That’s getting old, especially when the govt. can’t take care of hurricane victims here because Fema is, wait for it, out of money. Doesn’t make much sense. They always seem to come up with money for things they want and then tell us they have no money and want more for things they don’t care about, hmm.

Not much else happening. Only two more weeks of political ads, thank God! 6am now, have a great day and God Bless.

Back at it

Nice day yesterday. The kids left for Boulder a little after noon and stopped to see Ty on the way home. I watched a bunch of football on and off while doing some stuff around the house. I guess there’s an inch or two of snow in Vail, but nothing but a little rain here. Looks like mid to high 60’s all week. That means we’ll probably see the 70’s.

A couple more shootings in Denver. Glad we’re not down there. Lori works in Vail today and I have a call at 9 to start my day. Lots going on.

I need to call Ty today to see if he can come down so we can get some seat covers for his truck. We’re also looking at tonneau covers for the back of the truck. Winter could be coming on fast now.

We’re waiting for our Halloween costumes to arrive in the mail. The party is this coming Saturday. Hope they get here. The CU game is also at 8:15! I hate the late games.

Marty is still recovering. It’s not going as fast as he thought it would. We knew it’d take some time as it was a big surgery.

Robi’s birthday is Wednesday! That means it’s her birthday week!

We voted yesterday. There should be a law so they can’t use misleading language in the proposed statutes. For example, there’s one to change the constitution to make abortion legal in Colorado (which it is already), but the fine print says taxpayer money can be used to pay for it. Now I’ve always been pro-choice, but I’m not excited about paying for it. Another says stop mountain lion and lynx hunting. There is no lynx hunting in Colorado, never has been. But the people that want to stop mountain lion hunting think that lynx are cuter than mountain lions. It also says that mountain lion hunting is trophy hunting when most is by ranchers to stop them from killing their cattle. Then it says all meat is thrown away while the current law says all lion meat must be prepared for consumption to be eaten. This goes on and on with all the initiatives where they twist words to make things sound different than they really are. They know if they used plain language, stuff would never pass. I think we should release some mountain lions in downtown Denver and Boulder and for good measure, throw in some wolves too. Then you’d see these things be voted on fairly.

Oh well, time to go. Almost 7 and time to get to the gym. God Bless.

Fun Day

Yesterday after the gym we went to Hovey to see Ty. Then it was home to get ready for the CU game. What a great game! It was never close, and we won 34 to 7. Most of the second half we ran the ball with our lead and took our QB out for the entire 4th quarter. We’re now 5-2 which is a game better than our total for wins all of last year.

Ty came home after work and we played some football outside before heading out to Edwards for a so so dinner at a local sushi restaurant. Matsu in Vail was booked so we tried Sato in Edwards.

Lori made cupcakes for a belated birthday celebration for Ava. We gave her a cute little necklace Lori found somewhere. She’s such a great girl. I’m pretty sure they’ll get married someday.

After dinner, on the way home, we stopped at Davy’s so Lori could put Tux (the cat) in the house. Davy and Abby need to be careful as we do have a pack of coyotes that’ll eat the cat in a minute. We also have wolves, thanks to Denver and Boulder voters, that will eat the cat and the coyotes! Then there are the mountain lions that are here too. Again, Denver and Boulder voters will probably succumb to the misleading ads on tv and vote tom outlaw hunting them. That’ll turn out about as good as the wolf thing. What a mess.

In politics, Kamala is falling fast and hard. Trump should win in a landslide, but you never know the way they count votes. It is really unbelievable how someone as unqualified (nice word for stupid) can have any support. Again, what a mess.

Ty washed his car I think for the second or third time since Thursday, good for him. It really is a cool ride. Perfect for him and he loves it. He won’t let anyone eat, smoke or drink in it and is even selective about who he’ll give a ride! In the picture below you can actually see him smiling! He never smiles in photos! He loves to wear my old jeans these days, super baggy, that’s the look, ha.

Oh well, time to stock wide and deep, prepare for the worst and watch your top knot! God Bless.

Missing kitty

Yesterday we headed to the gym and on the way stopped to put out Dea, our neighbors down the hill, trash and recycling. When we were at the gym, Davy texted asking if we could put his out! He lives 2 doors up. He also asked if we could check on Juno, his dog, and Tux, their cat. After seeing Ty for breakfast, we ran up to his house. We found Tux but she wouldn’t come in. It took Lori until 8 at night to ger her in! Lori was afraid the coyotes would get her. Juno was fine. The person that checks on their house doesn’t do a very good job! Both neighbors will be back tomorrow.

Around 10am, Tom, our builder, showed up to install another 65 feet of snow fence on the roof around the side of the house. That’ll make things much easier this winter. Maybe it won’t snow much this year now that we spent $2100 on snow fences. That’s the way things work.

Lori made some good chili and we both worked on and off the rest of the day. Today around 3, our two smoked chickens will be ready. We did run to Costco before Jag and Ava showed up. They’re up for the weekend.

Cooler last night but not sure if we had our first freeze last night. We’re all going to the gym this morning and then will stop to see Ty for breakfast. The CU game is at 1 so we’ll all watch that after lunch.

Time to get moving, have a great Saturday and Sko Buffs! God Bless.

Nice win

Busy day yesterday. Good day though, as we got a lot done in a short period of time. We were at the Porsche dealership in Denver by 8. When we showed up, they didn’t have us on the books for our appointment? Geoff, our service manager, pulled out a miracle though, and made it work.

15 minutes later we were off in a loaner and at the Chevy dealer to meet Ty a little before 9. After walking the lot, he decided he wanted to step it up and buy the ZR2 instead of the more basic truck,-. This is a great truck but was a little over $50K! You just don’t get much anymore for $40K in a new vehicle, unbelievable. Ty had $10K he saved to put down and I managed to get him a supplier number from GM in Detroit, that was worth another $3K. This means he’d be financing a little over $40K. We talked about the pros and cons and what kind of commitment it would require paying that off. Of course, emotionally he wanted it, but I made sure he understood what he was getting into as well. He’ll pay it off within a year as he makes good money but will have to cut out a lot of discretionary spending to do so. In the end, that’s what he wanted to do, so he now owns a super cool new truck! Thankfully our insurance actually went down. This is due to more safety features on the truck, like air bags and OnStar. Pics to come tomorrow. He’s on cloud nine though, and we’re happy for him. It does mean he’ll be in the valley for at least another year as part of the deal was, he needs to keep working at his job until the truck is paid off.

We finished the paperwork by 10:30 (which is fast for buying a vehicle) and headed to Phoebe’s to get Lori’s hair done, leaving Ty at the dealer as they were prepping the new truck for delivery to him. A few minutes after getting Lori to Phoebe’s, Geoff called and said the Porsche was ready! I was thrilled as I thought it would be much later in the day, so I took off and went to get it. By the time I got back, it only took another 30 minutes before she was done and then home we went. We stopped to see Ty and pick up the second set of keys to the new truck.

Great Bronco game last night. I was texting with Tom, as we usually do during the game. Warm outside right now even though we had a little rain. No snow although it is going to start freezing at night. Marty made it home around 5 or so and now will begin the healing process. We’re all glad he made it through his health scare.

6:15 now, we’ll head out to the gym soon. Glad I have Lori’s snow tires on and both cars serviced for winter. Ty’s Audi had all kinds of issues from a broken turbo to bald tires, to the skid plate hanging off the bottom of the car, some dents and dings and more. I asked Rick, my buddy who is the sales manager, if he was wholesaling it and he said yes. This means they don’t care what’s the matter with it which was good. No way that would have made it through the winter. Overall, we’re glad Ty is in a new ride.

Make it a great day, stay safe, be well and God Bless.

Busy day

Off to Denver this morning. Dropping Lori’s car for service at 8 and then headed to the Chevy dealer to help Ty with a new truck. Then it’s back to town so Lori can get her hair done. I was going to see Marty, but he gets to go home today! Yesterday his nerve block wore off and the pain kicked in.

I didn’t hear anything about Shelly. I texted Tasha in the morning, but no reply. Lori worked in Frisco all day and Ty and I cleaned out his car, as we needed to before maybe trading it in, this morning.

I ran to the hospital to pick up a prescription and then stopped at Walgreens for some Nicorette for Ty, as he’s quitting vaping. Jag is doing well and might come up this weekend. It’ll be good to see him and Ava.

Time to get moving, have a great day and God Bless.

Doing well

I dropped the truck at 8 and was up at Mile High at 9. I hung out there doing some work on a rifle until about 11:30 when I went back to get the truck. Then it was off for home with stops in Frisco for groceries and Edwards to see Ty.

Marty is doing better with each day, although yesterday morning the doc told him the next two days would be brutal. Guess that kicked in yesterday afternoon. He’s still hoping to get out on Friday. He’s focused on us building the ultimate coyote guns over the winter. He must have called me four times or more with questions. Glad he’s consumed with this to help take his mind off the pain. Plus, he’ll need a project for the winter as he can’t lift anything over 15 pounds for a good six weeks.

Tom said Shelly is not doing well. They took her by ambulance to hospice and she is having a hard time breathing. Prayers for her and may God watch over her. Poor girl. Tom thinks she could die today or tomorrow.

Lori is in Frisco today and I’ll be working here at the house. A big cool down is coming Friday. Tomorrow, we need to drop Lori’s car at the Porsche dealer at 8am and then I think we’re headed to the Chevrolet dealer to meet Ty and help him buy a new truck. Used ones with 75,000 miles are $33K and a new one, about $40K! Then it’ll be back across town for Lori to get her hair done and I’ll run to see Marty if he’s up for it.

Robi’s birthday is a week from today! Whoo hoo! That’s about it for today, the 16th. Have a great Wednesday and God Bless.

Denver

I’ll be in Denver by 8am dropping my truck for service. I also am going to look at a used Toyota truck for Ty. Hope to be leaving Denver by 11 or so.

Marty had his surgery and came out around 3:30. The doc said all went well but the incision is larger than he originally thought it would be. He can’t lift anything over 15 pounds for six weeks! They had to take out 10 inches of his colon. What a mess. Not sure when he woke up as he was still sleeping around 8 last night. He’ll be in big time pain for a while.

Lori made it home around 4:30. Ty stopped at Whole Foods for me on the way up and waited until I got home before he took off for Madi’s. He had a fun sports day Sunday going to the Bronco game and then the Nuggets game. We’re both of course still bummed the Broncos lost.

I hung out with Mark and had a cigar in the afternoon. Perfect weather up here but you can feel Fall in the air. I’m finally losing the weight from my 5 days of too many cookies and pie. The worst thing though was the 4 bowls of chili Saturday night at the Chili Cookoff. I don’t know how people eat beans. I mean you might as well just put methane in your stomach! We should have been from Texas because as far as we’re concerned, real chili does not have any fucking beans!

Time to move and groove. October 15th, 77 days left in the year, then it’s on to 2025. Sounds like the future, guess it is, ha. God Bless.

Mid October

Hard to believe today is the 14th. Weather is still holding out, knock on wood. Broncos lost yesterday, ugh, no fun. This morning at 9:30, Marty checks in for his surgery. He should be done sometime around 4 this afternoon.

Tomorrow I drop my truck at 8am for service and then will head up to north as I have a few things to do. Yesterday Ty went to the Bronco game and then across the street to the Nuggets game. The Nuggets was a pre-season game though, so it didn’t count. Not sure who won that one.

Lori works in Vail today. Not sure what she has going. I know she has a few people from Mexico City coming in.

People, or should I say criminals, are posing as Sherriff’s deputies and as energy workers down in Denver to scam and rob people. Just because someone calls you saying they are so and so, or comes to your door in some kind of uniform, that doesn’t mean they are who they say they are. Demand identification! Be careful.

Dems are getting desperate. Saturday Night Live eviscerated Kamala over the weekend. Usually, they only make fun of Republicans. When they mock a Dem, you know they’re done. Even in local elections, Dems are lying. One ad in Denver said a former military guy who was also a police officer, wants to monitor pregnant women. No one wants to “monitor” pregnant women. Still the Dems will say this crap as it scares some voters. Unbelievable. We also have a proposed law to ban mountain lion hunting. Their ads lie too. Just like they did with the reintroduction of wolves. These animals are predators, and they will kill, for no reason. They need to send some of both down to Denver and Boulder, then none of these misguided laws would pass. It’s so crazy that people get to vote for things that don’t affect them. Life in the mountains is a whole lot different than life in the city.

Guess I’ll get moving, 6am now. Have a great day and a great week. God Bless.

Up late, up early

Well, the CU game didn’t end until around midnight and then I woke up at 6:20 worried Ty was still sleeping when he had to work at 7. I was right. I rushed upstairs to wake him and then started his car and cleaned it out a bit for him. He made it out the door around 6:50. They don’t open until 8 though, so it’s ok.

By the way, CU was robbed as there definitely was pass interference on them on our last play.

The chili cookoff was fun. We met a bunch of new neighbors and hung out until the gnats started buzzing around at dusk. I told Davy, we don’t have these bugs on out street, which we don’t!

Glad we’re not making the drive down today for the game as we’ll be tired this afternoon. Lori made some more homemade chicken broth last night, and I think is making chicken soup right now.

7:04am now so that’s it. Time to get moving. Go Broncos! God Bless
