We need to leave around 8:30 this morning for the 2 hour drive to go get Ty. Seems like he’s been gone a year! It’s 6:50 now and we need to pick up his room a bit and then shower and head out. We’ll leave Jag here with the pups so they’re not locked up all day.
It was a long week for all of us. Next week they’re doing rock mitigation on I-70 which is going to close down the highway every 30 minutes between 6 am and 4 pm. I know Monday and Tuesday I need to go to Denver so I’m trying to decide whether to go up and through Leadville or not. The hospital is going to be a mess too as closing a major interstate is a big deal.
Tonight Lori has a girls night out get together at a classmate of Jag’s house for her Mom. Glad I don’t have anything going on, ha. Time to get moving so have a good day, GB.
Tomorrow we pick up Ty! Can’t wait. It’s only been two weeks but we are excited for him to get home. Lori worked late last night as she had a few VIP patients that she squeezed in so her day ran until about 7. I was in Boulder and other places and will be traveling a bit again today.
Looks like we have a deal on Mom’s house. Tommy Googled the buyers and they look like a nice family. We still have a bunch of stuff to get out of the house. I’ll undoubtedly be spending some time down there between now and August 6th. We pretty much held firm on the price as they already offered less than we thought it should go for but the house does need a lot of work.
I need to get moving so that’s it. Have a great day and GB.
Jag and I left at 6:30 and arrived a little after 9. Our tour of CU started with a 45 minute talk and then a tour of the campus. Both were enlightening. What a great school and beautiful campus. I think Jag changed his mind a bit on the school and I found out most of the kids, for some unknown reason, bash CU at his school. We also determined most of the kids in his school have zero drive and aren’t very smart. In the end although we’ll still go see some other schools, but now CU is on the list, whoo hoo.
After a couple more stops we headed home but didn’t arrive until about 5. Then Lori and Jag picked up Harley and Emma who stayed until a little after 8. They’re pretty much inseparable if they have the chance, ha.
I’m back down the hill today for an appointment at 10 so time to get moving. We pick up Ty in about 53 hours! We all miss him very much. I’m going to try to keep him off his cell phone and computer when he returns from 2 weeks without electronics. That’s it as I have like 45 minutes. Have a great day, be safe and God Bless.
In 45 minutes Jag and I are headed to Boulder for a tour of the University of Colorado. He had a tour with school a year or so ago but now that he’s a Senior, time to go see some schools and I’m sure he’ll have a different perspective. Lori of course has work and Ty is still gone. We all miss him!
It’ll be 82 in Vail today which is really nice. They say 87 in Denver. Tomorrow the mid 90’s are on the way. Lots to do and I need to make sure Jag is up so that’s it. Have a great day, GB.
Lori worked from about noon until 5 yesterday and has a long day today too. Tomorrow Jag and I are going to tour CU and today I have some running around to do. If you saw the post yesterday afternoon, you know the blog was down. Thankfully it’s up and running now.
We received back objections from the people that want to buy Mom’s house. They came up with about $130K worth of objections which considering their offer, isn’t going to work for us. This means the house will probably be back on the market by the weekend. That’s ok though, better than giving it away. Besides what did people think a house built in 1946 was going to be like.
We had some big rain yesterday. Hope Ty and his backpacking group weren’t caught in the open. He comes home Saturday and on Sunday Jag gets fitted by some designer for modeling in a fashion show in Denver. Not sure how they found him but he is tall, thin and good looking, ha. That’s it, God Bless.
Last night the blog went down. I was checking it as I needed to leave early to go get Lori. Well after getting her in Denver and getting her back up here, I’ve been on with Dreamhost for 2 hours trying to get this fixed. Obviously it’s fixed!
First thing I’m going to do within the next few weeks is print out all the posts in case this happens again. what a scare.
Anyhow Lori is at work, Ty is still at camp and Jag and Emma are in Minturn having lunch or walking around. Lots going on at work but that’s for another day. Thank God the site is back up! Great to have Lori home. She’d like to go see her Mom every week if she could (Annette too) but that’s not possible. I think Dixie is doing ok though Lori said she was a bit tired.
Time to go as I have a lot to do, take care, God Bless and God Bless the techs at Dreamhost!
Today is Ali’s birthday, it’s also Emma’s. Not sure how old Alison is but Emma is 16, whoo hoo! Hope both girls have a great day.
Yesterday I was in Aspen as advertised and home with ribs from Hickory House by 1:30. Jag ate almost 2 whole racks which was good as it kept me from eating too many. I walked the dogs a few times and did some laundry before we headed out to the vet to get Harley some medicine for her upset stomach. Then we went to Matsuhisa for some sushi. We had a nice time and talked about a bunch of things including college. Looks like we’ll go tour CU this coming week. He and every other kid wants to leave Colorado and spread their wings but at least he’s willing to go see the University of Colorado in Boulder. His friend Lexi who has toured a ton of schools has CU as her second choice. He’s not sure what he wants to do, maybe medicine, maybe investments like Wall Street. I told him he doesn’t have to know right now and just take some time. First step is to see some schools so we’ll tour CU and DU first. He did get his three AP scores back and did well (of course) on all three meaning he already has three college credits!
Lori and Dixie are doing well. I think they hung out and watched movies most of the day. They did have some visitors. I had a dream about my Mom last night so I know how important it is for Lori to go see hers. She does have to get up around 3:30 tomorrow to leave at 4:30 for her 6:30 flight in the morning. She needs to be to work by noon so that’s why the early flight. We’re going to try to get Dixie out here in early August to see the boys as it’s so expensive for four of us to go.
I’m taking the dogs up the hill and then dragging Jag to the gym. Then we’ll get him some breakfast. Time to go, have a great day. Hard to believe in 3 weeks or so it’ll be August. Could Fall be right around the corner? Summer just got here! Get outside before the seasons change. Time sure flies as you get older, wow. God Bless.
Well Lori made it to the airport on time and to her flight. She said the plane was cold but arrived on time too. Meanwhile I was training for about 3 hours and then had lunch with Alan. He’s really one of the best so even if you’ve been shooting for decades, you still learn a lot. Most of our drills work on USPSA (United States Practical Shooting Association) matches meaning you’re timed and have specific targets and places on the targets you have to hit to score. He wants me to start shooting matches. Anyhow it was fun.
Jag was babysitting the dogs and around 6:30 went to Emma’s thing. I was asleep when he made it home. This morning I’m running over to Aspen to pick up and drop some samples and invites to the party we’re co-hosts of at the end of the month. More on that later.
The weather is nice and we hope Ty is having a blast. I’m sure he is. Lori called and woke me about 30 minutes ago. Harley woke me at 3:20 to go out so I slept in a bit. They had another earthquake in California, this time a 7.1. You never know but these and the aftershocks are not normal so I told her to be careful. They even cancelled a basketball game in Las Vegas and evacuated the MGM Center. There’s also an abnormal surge in Yellowstone geyser activity, not a good sign. Now I’m not saying California is going to fall into the ocean or even that the big one is coming although some scientists say these could be foreshocks, not aftershocks. If so, a larger quake is coming and we all know it’s just a matter of time anyhow. So if you’re in earthquake country (Annette!) go get some extra food, water and batteries for your flashlight today! Also make sure your cars are filled with gas.
Time to get moving. I hope to be back by 2 at the latest. Have a great day, be safe and God Bless.
Lori and I are up early and will be out the door by 6. Her flight boards at 9 so we need to be at the airport by 8. Today in Southern California they had a 6.4 earthquake. I always hate for Lori to go to California for a number of reasons and now we can add earthquakes to the list. I get that the weather is pretty mild all year long but what a screwed up State. Personally I prefer 4 distinct seasons. She’s only there for about 66 hours thank God.
After dropping her at the airport I’m headed to the gun range with my buddy Alan who is a World Class shooter and a U.S.P.S.A. Champion to train. We’re going through some defensive and competition drills for about 3 hours as he’s off to a match about noon. Then I’ll head home to see what Jag is doing. At night Emma is in some theater thing at school where she’s helping out for a bunch of actors that came up from Denver. Jag will go and I might go with him unless I’m too tired.
Ty’s doing well at camp. They send us updates and I guess he was mountain biking and did some more rock climbing today. The best thing about camp is no cell phones and computers for two whole weeks! We’d love for this to continue but the kids get sucked right back in the minute they’re home.
That’s it, hope everyone had a good 4th. We went to the gym and pool and Lori burned her little stomach a bit in the hot sun. Have a good day, be safe and don’t listen to all the crap on tv! God Bless.
First up, not sure why yesterday’s post didn’t show up so today you get to read two! If you don’t know how to see yesterdays, look at the top of the page on the left or right and click on “Driver’s License”.
Happy Independence Day! Today we celebrate our freedom. Just a couple reminders of why we’re free. Funny because they’re so true!
So what’s up today? Yesterday we had a long day with Jag and I going back to Frisco after going to Gypsum to take one more test to get his drivers license. We had to go to Gypsum which is 30 miles in the other direction to pay $50 so he could take the driving portion of his test from a driving school. Once he passed, yea!, we headed back 60 miles to Frisco to turn in all his paperwork and get his official license. It’s a big day in a kids life as I think we all remember the day we got our license.
By the time we made it home it was 2 or so as I had a call in between from 11 to 12. After getting his license we hit the grocery store before heading home. We picked up some ribs, hamburgers and shrimp to cook today.
Around 5 Jag and I picked up Emma from theater at school and I dropped them both in town. Then on a whim, Lori and I headed to Denver to replace her rings that go on each side of her wedding ring as we had to return the two she had as the stones kept falling out. Lori had ruby guard rings but decided to switch to blue meaning sapphires. They had one in stock and the other one will arrive in a week or so. We all know how a girl loves her jewelry.
Today we’re headed to the gym and then hopefully to the pool at the Westin when it warms up. We joined for the summer so we had a pool to go to. It’s a salt water pool and the gym is great. Hoping for a hot day.
We have to get up really early tomorrow like 5 am to leave for the airport for Lori’s flight to Sacramento. She’s gone from tomorrow morning until Monday morning. Lots going on at work but that’s for another day.
Today remember how and why you’re free. Our ancestors fought and gave their lives to free us from oppression from an over bearing government that tried to control every aspect of our lives. Sound familiar? It should. Funny how history repeats itself yet most of us are so wrapped up in what’s on tv, or our social media accounts or trying to impress others for some unknown reason that we forget what’s important. We’d better get our shit together as the way things are going we’re going to end up in another civil war or something. I wish people would think and take responsibility for themselves. The government is not going to solve all your problems and owes you nothing no matter how much you think it does or will. So have a great day and God Bless you all and God Bless America.
