Off to Houston

This morning I’ll drop Ty at school and head over the hills and through the woods, pass Grandma’s house, straight to the airport. My flight is like 11am and I land around 2 or so. Then a quick meeting with my buddy Big Joe (you might remember him from hunting) and then we’re off to dinner. Tomorrow morning I have a 9am meeting for 30 minutes and then it’s back to the airport. I’m scheduled to fly out at 12:50 but there is a 11:30 flight I might be able to make, depending on traffic. Either way I’ll be back in Denver early to mid afternoon. Then the challenge will be getting up the hill with the snow that’s supposed to arrive tonight and last through tomorrow. It is snowing on the pass now but I looked at the road cameras and should be fine driving down in a few hours.

We think and hope, Lori is getting a little better. She had a flu test yesterday and thankfully does not have the flu. Jag texted pictures of swimming with sea turtles as he spent the day mapping them out with a bunch of scientists dedicated to the preservation of sea life in the Hawaii ecosystem. He’s having lots of fun!

My backs a little sore from the gym but as always, it’s a good sore. Lori went with me yesterday morning trying to work the cold out of her system. Today is clinic but she’ll have to leave around 4 or so to pick up Ty. She’ll probably take him home and go back to work or just take him back to the office. I hope tomorrow to be back up the hill to pick him up around 5 but we’ll see.

Last night, out of nowhere, we heard a loud crash like a car crashed into the house! It was about 200 pounds of ice sliding off of the ledge covering the deck which is outside Ty’s window. Thankfully no one or Mojo, was on the deck as it could have killed you. Another great design flaw in our little place. When you live here for a year or so you get to see all the problems, inside and out, from a builder who cut corners wherever he could. Oh well, we still live in Vail! Be thankful for what you have. Time to run, hope all’s well, take care and God Bless.

A Big Week

5 days to go until we get ready to leave. It’s a big week around her for all of us. Lori is still sick and we need to get her checked for the flu today, as antibiotics so far are not doing much to help. Ty has lots of work and I’m supposed to go to Houston tomorrow. They say we’re getting a bunch of snow so I hope I can get down ok in the morning. We did clean Ty’s room from top to bottom and everything in between. Hopefully he’ll keep it clean! Our goal is to get everyone’s room clean before we leave.

Good game last night. It was an epic comeback by New England and just as epic of a collapse by Atlanta. Jag is having a blast. Yesterday he swam with sea turtles and went boogie boarding in the ocean. Glad he’s having fun and texting us each day letting us know what’s going on.

Guess I’ll run so I can get to the gym when it opens at 6am. Take care and GB

Super Bowl Sundy

Today is the Super Bowl and although we knew this, we might have just as well forgot. It doesn’t interest us much this year for some reason. So no party here and we’re not going anywhere. What we are doing is cleaning in a big way. Lori wants to just purge as it’s really difficult living in less than 1800 square feet with 2 growing boys and a 100 pound dog. In the end it’ll be a combination of purging and cleaning but I’m sure we’ll end up with a load for the dump.

Yesterday Lori and I made it to Denver by 9am for her hair appointment after dropping the banana coconut creme pie at my Mom’s. I then headed over to the mall after washing the car. A few hours later Lori was finished and then we stopped back by the mall for a quick stop at Tommy Bahama where Lori picked up a long flowing Hawaiian dress for our trip. Then we stopped by my Mom’s to visit before heading up the hill. We both kept our distance as Lori is still sick and I’m fighting her bug off. After a stop in Frisco for some groceries, we were home by about 5pm.

Jag is having a great time and texting pictures to us every day. He’s of course having a blast. I’m sure the week will go fast and soon we’ll all be in Hawaii for a week of sun and fun. I told Lori let’s not make a lot of plans and just take it a day at a time. I do have a meeting on the 14th with my distributor in Hawaii but that’s my only commitment.

Guess I’ll run, hope all’s well with everyone. Take care and have a great day and enjoy the game. God Bless.

Arrived safely

Jag touched down around 1pm Hawaii time in Kona. He texted me while getting his bag. I have a complete schedule that I’ll refer to throughout the week to do let you know what he’s up to. Looks like he’ll have a great time.

Lori has some sort of a bug that’s hopefully not the flu. At least she has it now and is on antibiotics. We’re off to Denver early today as she’s getting her hair done. Then it’ll be a big time purge and clean here at home. I think Ty is staying here as he has some studying to do.

Time to run as it’s 5:44 and too early to do much else except drink coffee, especially on a Saturday. Have a good weekend, GB

Aloha Jag

Yesterday after a trip to Denver and then to the storage unit for a suitcase, Jag and I gathered his stuff and packed his bags. He took a small carry on and a small backpack. Finally around 9pm I fell asleep and I think Jag did an hour or so later. At 12:45am the alarm went off as it was time to take Jag to meet the other kids and shuttle bus at one of the kids houses. A mom texted Lori that she saw them all at the airport this morning looking tired about to get on their plane. Their flight left at 6:15 so they’re in the air now. First up when they land is a dip in the ocean so each kid was supposed to bring their swimsuit in their carry on. Should be fun! A week from tomorrow, we all meet up in the airport and board another plane for Maui. So, lucky Jagger, is actually spending two weeks in Hawaii! Wish we were too.

A week or so ago Lori tripped over a dog gate and fell down a few stairs. Well, wouldn’t you know it, she tore her bicep from her surgery. This means sometime soon, she’ll probably need surgery again, can you believe it? Lucky I document our life as no one would believe it.

Ty has a half day and is out at 1 and we need to pick up my Mom’s pie for her birthday tomorrow. Lori has a hair appointment at 9am in Cherry Creek tomorrow morning so we’ll be on the road early. She’s fighting a cold and is on antibiotics and of course came home last night and gave me a big kiss, meaning now I too need a Z Pak.

I have three people from my Company headed to Italy today for a week which sort of gives me a break at least cutting down my phone calls by 6 to 10 a day. I managed to get out of this trip bit will be headed over to France and Italy in a few months.

Time to run as Ty needs to be at school early. Hope all’s well, take care and GB

Sleeping in

I was sort of jet lagged yesterday but made it to the gym this morning at 6am to work on my posture and balance. I made it home by 7 to find Lori and Ty still sleeping. Tonight or actually tomorrow morning at 2am, we drop Jag at the bus for the airport to go to Hawaii.

My flight was fine as I was again in 1st Class. We landed at 9am and I was home by 11:30. Ty is still a bit sick but going to school. It’s warm up here compared to Denver where I guess they have icy rain. I’ll know soon as I need to go down and drop off some samples this morning.

Lori is working away (what’s new) and has another busy day today. She’ll try to get home early as we need to help Jag pack for his trip. Time to run as it’s 7:15 and we need to leave in 45 minutes at the latest. Have a great day and God Bless.

On the way home

It’s 4:49am at home and I’ve been in the air for about 30 minutes. I should land in Denver around 9am or so. It was a successful trip to New York as all my trips usually are as fortunately I’m pretty good at what I do. Getting the deal done though is the easy part as now working through all the details is the real work. Thankfully I have a bunch of people that work for us that can do just that.

I landed about 2pm and after dropping my bag at the hotel, headed into the city. By 3, I was in my meeting and finished up by 4:30. Then Lorenzo and Pier, a winemaker from Italy I’ve known for 15 years, joined us for dinner. I managed to get to my hotel by about 9 and headed straight for bed as I needed to wake up at 4 which is 2am Denver time.

Yesterday Ty had his science fair and Jag played his last basketball game of the season. Lori worked long and hard as usual and all are still sleeping. I’ll hopefully be home by noon as I have some samples from France arriving Fed Ex.

My Mom had a good birthday so she said. We’ll see her Saturday and I ordered up her favorite coconut banana cream pie from a caterer up here in Vail.

That’s about it, hope everyone is well, GB

Happy Birthday!

Well today is my Mom’s birthday. She’s 84 years young. I told her the other day that the rest of us seem to be catching up to her as 24 years between us doesn’t seem all that much. We’ll celebrate with her Saturday as in about an hour I’m off to the airport for an 8am flight to New York. I know Tom will make sure she has a cake and a fun day.

Yesterday was another late one with me picking up Lori at 6:45 and then Jag at 7 from his last basketball practice. He has a game today in Paonia which is a good two hours plus away. Then with him off to Hawaii in about 70 hours, he’ll miss the Saturday game.

I took Ty to the doctor yesterday and it looks like he just has a bad cold. On the way home we stopped for chicken soup and some Tylenol. I have both boys on orange juice and Vitamin C. Ty did go in to school for his last two classes as he has the Science Fair today. He’s getting up at 5 to work on his note cards.

That’s about it, it’s now 3:45 in the morning and I need to get moving. Tomorrow I’ll be getting up at 2:30am Denver time for my 6am flight home. Have a great day and once again, Happy Birthday to my Mom, God Bless.

Home at last

Lori’s plane landed about 10 minutes early and she walked out just as I pulled up at the airport. We headed up the hill and after stopping for groceries, were home by about 5 or so. The boys are both still sick with Ty having the worst of it. He has to go to school today as he has the Science Fair on Wednesday. As I said yesterday, I’m off to New York tomorrow morning. Of course it’s going to snow there between 9 and 6 which is when I’ll be moving around town. Oh well, it’ll be nothing like the snow we have here.

Guess I’ll run, it’s almost February and then it’ll be Spring before we know it. Have a great day and God Bless.

Coming home

Today Lori arrives at the airport at 2 in the afternoon. We’re glad she could spend 4 days with her Mom but boy do we miss her. I’ll head out around 10am to beat the traffic headed down the hill full of skiers. First up though is some cleaning up around here.

Ty and Jag both feel a little under the weather. I think Ty is worse off than Jag but all that means is that he caught the crud first. He came in around 11pm last night as he had a bad dream, and asked if he could sleep with me. Of course I said yes, so I spent the night on my right shoulder facing away from him, trying not to get what I’m sure I’ll eventually get. I’m going to move him to his bed in a few minutes so I can wash the sheets.

This week I’m off to New York Tuesday morning for an hour meeting from 3pm until 4pm. I think all the night flights coming home are full so I’ll have to leave Wednesday morning at 6am and arrive back in Denver around 8:30. At least I have First Class both ways. Then Thursday I need to head back down to Denver to drop off a bunch of samples that arrive Wednesday here in Vail. That night, or actually Friday morning at 2am, Jag gets on the school bus to go to the airport to leave for Hawaii for a week with 7 other students and 2 teachers. Throw in early release on Wednesday and Lori continuing to train her two new girls, and both of them officially starting Wednesday, and we have another big week. Last but not least, my Mom’s birthday is Tuesday, whoo hoo. Of course she doesn’t want anything, which I think is totally nuts, but I have an idea or two for her anyhow.

So that’s it for the day. I just moved Ty to his bed, started laundry and fed Mojo. Looking ahead, the following week I’m in Houston for one night and then that Saturday, we all go to Hawaii for a much needed, long overdue, week of sun and surf. We can’t wait! Right now though, that seems like a year away! God Bless.
