Conferences

Today, or this morning, we have Ty’s parent teacher conference. Jag’s is on the 30th I think. We should be done by 8 am. Then Lori’s off to work and I’m off to Eagle and Aspen. Not sure if Ty has school or not. Yesterday he was home sick.

I had to run to Denver yesterday and it was warmer up here than down there. We had snow come in late in the day, especially over at school. Not much if anything on the ground here but Jag was playing soccer in the snow. It looks colder in Denver than up here. The way they talk on the news it sounds like a blizzard in Denver. Gotta love the news.

Jag has a soccer game at 5;30. I guess they shovel off the field. We’ll see if Jag scores in his fourth game in a row! That’d be quite the big deal as it’s not easy to score.

Robi bought a new house! Whoo hoo! Guess she moves in November 9th, congrats!

Looks like 60% of independent voters don’t like the way the Dems handled the Kavanaugh nomination, hmmm. And they think this is a big midterm election boost for them, we’ll see. Now you have Dems saying they’ll impeach the guy. Not sure if you know the process but that is really difficult to do. The political ads on tv right now are all so full of lies and twisted words. Politicians will say and do anything to get elected. It’s so sad what has become of our “leaders” (if you can call them that!) as most if not all of them are only interested in themselves. Wake up people.

Here’s a grainy picture of the boys in snow playing soccer.

Have a great day and God Bless.

College Fair

We headed out to Aspen around 8:30 and made it to the high school by 10. I dropped Lori and Jag and drove the car back to Buttermilk to park and take a shuttle (school bus) back to the high school. The tents opened at 10:30 and we along with hundreds of our closest friends (tons of kids and parents) dove in. We hit CU, Yale, Baylor, Harvard and others. Baylor stood out as a great school and potentially a good fit as they have the fast track medical program where he can become a doctor in 7 years. We then went to a seminar on Highly Selective Schools which were for schools like Yale and Dartmouth and Duke. That lasted an hour and then we hit a few more booths before heading home. On the way back we stopped at El Korita for lunch.

Once home we had an hour before Lori and Jag headed to VMS to meet with a number of the college admission people from Aspen who drove over for an admission seminar. This was from 5 to 7. Meanwhile I cleaned the house and did a bunch of laundry and watched the Rockies lose after listening on the radio while driving back to the Broncos lose. We need to fire our head coach and defensive coach today, hope Elway has the guts to do what needs to be done.

Looks like a little snow in Denver but not up here. I think it rained last night but we’re dry now. We have a big week (what’s new) with Ty going on a retreat (camping trip) Wednesday and Thursday in Buena Vista and Jag having a soccer game Tuesday and a National Merit Test also on Wednesday at 8am. Lori said how amazing Jagger’s brain is and that the college admission people at their table last night were sitting there with their mouths open at his intellect and skills in assessing potential applicants. He’s just one of those kids, as we all know, that’s extremely smart. Emma’s (his girlfriend) Mom told Lori Emma said Jagger is a really nice boy and really academically driven when she described him. Of course we all know that, ha.

It’s 6;50 so time to get moving. Hope everyone is well. Winter will be here soon, so get ready. Tomorrow is my good friend Harry’s and John Lennon’s birthday! Have a great day, GB.

Up early

Yesterday morning Ty and I headed down to Denver to get his outfit for Homecoming. We made it back for the second half of the soccer game where Jag scored a goal for the third game in a row! I told him 3 games in a row is more than luck and that that means he’s really good! By the way, his goal was with his left foot too!

We rushed home to get ready for Homecoming. I took Ty to the 9th grade pre-party and Lori took Jag to meet up with Emma. Lots of parents have kids in both grades so a bunch of us left the 9th grade party early to rush over to the 11th grade soiree. They take class pictures at both and we’ll try to post them tomorrow.

This morning we’re off to Aspen where Jag will meet with representatives from Harvard, Yale, Dartmouth, the University of Colorado and others like TCU. Around 2 in the afternoon we’ll rush back to Vail where Jag is part of an admissions event with people from the colleges. That goes until 7 tonight! Lori and Jag go the second event while I’ll be here with the dogs and Ty.

Meanwhile the Broncos and Rockies both play and we need both to win. Yesterday though the Country did win when Judge Kavanaugh was confirmed. Whether you like him or not, it is a win as someone was NOT convicted without evidence which the Dems were trying to do for months. All they had were accusations that no one, even people the accuser said were her friends, were not corroborated. I have no doubt that the lady was probably abused somewhere somehow by someone but don’t think it was by this guy as in this day and age, if it was true, it would seem that someone, anyone, just one person, would have come forward. Thank God a man was not convicted without any proof as that would have sent a terrible precedent in our Country. On top of that it now turns out the accuser has a bunch of holes in her story. Gee what a surprise. Oh and now Nancy Pelosi and the Dems are saying they’ll start another investigation. Man they just can’t accept the fact that they lost the election and insist in tearing the Country apart even further than they already have. Hopefully this will energize the Republicans and others to vote. There are lots of people, rightly so, leaving the democratic party, but these old liberals like Pelosi and Shumer don’t seem to care. The party used to be one of John Kennedy but now is just an anarchist wing of one World government activists like George Soros, yet the people they’re using are too dumb to see it. CNN also admitted (CNN who is as liberal as it gets) that the majority of all the protesters on the confirmation, were bought and paid for, hmmm.

Oh well, the Constitution and rule of law won out. It’s so sad some people can’t accept that.

Have a great day and God Bless.

Homecoming

Tonight’s the night, Homecoming for both boys. Jag is taking Emma and Ty is going solo, we think. Ty and I are speeding down to Denver as of course his clothes from Nordstrom didn’t arrive. Jag has a soccer game at noon and then both boys have class pictures in different locations.

Yesterday I waited all day for UPS to bring a tax form from the accountant to send off and of course it didn’t come. Also of course UPS didn’t come until 5:30! Nice.

Time to get moving so we can get down and back up by 1 or so. Have a great day, GB.

Spirit Day

Today is Spirit Day at school as it’s Homecoming Weekend. Tonight we have girls volleyball and tomorrow boys soccer before the dance tomorrow night. On Sunday we’re at the college fair in Aspen. So we’re busy busy again. One thing about kids, there’s no down time.

Today is the vote on Judge Kavanaugh. Hopefully it’ll pass as this guy’s a good man that has been trashed and dragged through the mud like no one ever before in the history of our Country. Our society and it’s “me too” moment is a joke. Every single one of us did something at sometime in our life that wouldn’t pass this test. All the Dems have is that this guy supposedly did something, that no one, no one, has corroborated. And wait, breaking news yesterday, he threw ice when he was in high school! OOOOOOO! The latest background check, number 7, still shows nothing. Now of course the Dems are saying the Feds didn’t interview the two people that testified for over 30 hours over 3 days under the penalty of perjury. So the Senators that had hours and hours to ask the accuser and the Judge questions are now saying they need the Feds to do what they didn’t as they were too busy playing politics rather than doing their job. It’s so obvious what the Dems are doing and if anyone does not see that and somehow justifies trashing this guy and saying that without proof, he shouldn’t be confirmed, you ought to just move to a Country where you truly are guilty based on hearsay. If we ever get to the point where we are no longer innocent until proven guilty, God help us. No one should wish for this as that’s what happens in Communist countries and others where you have zero rights. Careful what you wish for. Also it turns out all these protests are staged and funded by George Soros, the Hungarian liberal, One World Government activist that Hungary won’t let back into his own country. And how about the Democratic Senator aide who was arrested for posting home addresses of Republican Senators and their kids info, nice, really nice. I pray to God this guy gets in and the Dems never get power as they’ve shown they will do anything including lie, cheat and destroy a good man and his family to get what they want. You sure didn’t see this when Obama’s two nominees, who are now judges, were nominated. What an embarrassment these people are, to themselves, their families and most of all, our Country.

Oh and here’s one for you, our school, which had celebrations all week, told the kids mid week that they can’t call Hawaiian Shirt Day, Hawaiian Shirt Day and are changing it to Tropical Shirt Day so we don’t offend any Hawaiians! Are you kidding me? What is the World coming to, and by the way, we don’t have any Hawaiians here at school in Vail. Also how do Hawaiian Shirts offend Hawaiians? Good God, help us.

That’s it, now go have a great day and Go Rockies, GB.

Playoffs!

Tonight the Rockies start their 5 game series against the Brewers. I’m sure we’ll be the underdog again but that’s ok, Go Rockies! First up I have a trade tasting in Denver from about 12 until 3 or 4. I’m heading down this morning to drop our truck off to have a clear bra put on the front before the tasting and run some errands. Lori’s taking the boys to school this morning and has a meeting there also at 3:30. Jag has soccer until 6 as usual and Ty has a ton of homework.

I was in Glenwood, Carbondale and Basalt yesterday where it sure was pretty. Soon it’ll all be covered in white which will last until sometime next April. Homecoming is also coming up this weekend along with a college tour in Aspen which has about 50 representatives from various schools coming to town. So Saturday and Sunday are both tied up, of course, for Lori and I. Oh well, as Mom always said, you do what you have to do. Have a great day, GB.

Go Rockies!

We stayed up until a little after 11:30 to see the Rockies beat the Cubs in 13 innings! Whoo hoo, what a game! It was the longest post season one and done game in MLB history.

Before that it was another long day. Today Lori and I have more of the same with me having to go to Glenwood and Carbondale while Lori works and the boys have school. I think both boys have half day. It’s 7:20 now and we overslept since we were up so late.

It’s foggy and drizzly outside which is nice, a good Fall day. Time to run, hope all’s well, take care and GB.

Close

Well we lost both games yesterday, baseball and football. At least with baseball we get a do over tonight at 6 to try to win and move on. In our football game, we should have won. Our coach should be fired today, in fact he should have been fired last year. Let’s see if Elway has any balls.

I feel like I own a taxi service. I drive here and there and everywhere every single day. We end up going to school at least three times a day between the two of us. Throw in a trip to take Harley to daycare and then Lori going to work and we spend more time in the car than not. That’s one of the downsides to living up here as nothing is close. Today I need to go to the distributor and Thursday I have an industry tasting in Denver too. Both boys will be at school until 6 tonight which is when the Rockies game starts.

The World is going nuts. Apparently we’ve all been abused at sometime according to some people on tv who I guess speak for all of us. Hard to believe anyone my age ever grew up. No seat belts, our parents would drink and drive, women were whistled at, men said suggestive things, there were no “safe spaces”, everyone “didn’t” get a trophy, we had no cell phones or Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat or internet, our politicians actually worked together and didn’t lie to get what they want, man how did we make it. Too bad we can’t flick a switch and go back to when I was a kid as I’d take my family there in a second. We’re not headed in the right direction and I fear what the World will be in a decade or two for the boys. Time to buy some land somewhere out of the way.

That’s it, time to get moving, Go Rockies, please fire our Coach and God Bless.

Baseball and Football

It’s a big sports day around here. First up the Rockies play the Dodgers in a one game playoff and then on Monday Night Football the Broncos play the Chiefs. We’re hoping to go 2 for 2!

Yesterday Lori and I went to Aspen for a little shopping and lunch. We needed to go to the pet store and Target in Glenwood so it wasn’t that much further. Lori found some cute jeans and a fun pair of furry pink tennis shoes. We then had lunch at one of our favorite spots before heading home.

Once home we cleaned a bit before winding the weekend down. We need to get moving this morning as there’s lots to do and both boys never get up when they’re supposed to. It’s the same old crap every morning with kids as they’d sleep all day if you let them. Oh well, so would we, ha. Have a great day and GB.

Two Elk Fire

About 2 miles south on the hill above us is a small fire of about 25 acres. Looks like they have a handle on it but it’s a little too close to home. I walked Harley up the mountain to check it out last night and it looks like we’ll be fine.

Jag scored the first goal in the soccer game yesterday and almost had another but was tackled which then gave his team mate an easy goal. We won 4 to 0. After the game Jag and his friend Nick and his parents and Lori and I went to Nobu for sushi for dinner. Tom and Jennifer (Nicks parents) are really nice and we had a good time. Meanwhile Ty went to Will’s to hang out with him as it was his dads birthday and they had a party for him. We let him spend the night.

Lori and I are headed to the gym this morning and then we’re not sure what’s going on for the rest of the day. The Rockies need a win today as L.A. won yesterday and we lost and it all comes down to the last game of the season to determine who wins the division.

That’s about it, October 1st tomorrow, have a great day, GB.
