Coming home

Lori’s on the way! She had a 5:20am flight meaning she had to wake up somewhere before 3am! She has a little over a couple hour wait in Denver before her flight to Eagle. I woke up at 6 so I gave her a call as that’s 5 in California to make sure she’s on the plane. She’ll be tired when she gets home.

Cold last night after the snow stopped. Ty worked last night and was home by 9:30. He’s going snowboarding today and then works tonight. This morning I’ll be cleaning and doing laundry before Lori arrives around 12:30.

Had about 100 or so elk behind the house yesterday morning making their way up the gully. I was hanging with James yesterday and when I arrived at his house around 1 in the afternoon and stepped out of the car, I heard a loud gobble gobble gobble which startled me as I wasn’t expecting it. Two large turkeys were five feet from me gobbling away. He has deer, bear, mountain lion and turkeys in his yard but no elk. I had 5 or 6 elk or deer bedding down at the back of the house last night as you can see their beds in the snow this morning. I haven’t seen any turkey’s down here but we have the others too. We sat outside in 15 degree temperatures smoking a cigar taking stock of how lucky we are to live in a place like we do. It’s good to have a couple close guy friends you can have meaningful conversations with as you get older. I’m lucky I have a good group of friends that would do just about anything for me. We’re all kind of loners that ended up together and after hanging every week for 2 or 3 years you get pretty close.

Sun’s coming up and the pink sky with the white snow that blankets just about everything looks like a painting. It’s going to warm up over the next couple days but will be around 35 or 40 for the daily high up to Christmas. Syas it’s minus 2 degrees outside right now. I was out in shorts feeding Harley and starting the car and honestly it doesn’t feel that cold. Annette would probably like it, ha!

Time to get Ty moving as he wants to head out in 45 minutes. Whoops, I hear the Christmas music blowing full bore from his room. Next Friday is Jagger’s birthday and Sunday is Tom’s! Here we go, lots of festivities coming up. Take care, be safe, stay well and God Bless.
