Finally it’s the weekend. It was a busy week. Ty is in California having fun, was surfing yesterday on six-foot waves, and today Ava heads to Chicago landing around 4 this afternoon.
Ty made it to Santa Barbara and headed straight to the beach to get some waves. Not sure what they did last night, so more on him tomorrow.
Jag had a great first week. He’s in a unique position as he has access to just about everything in the company while everyone else is in their own area. Jagger is learning and doing just about everything across the board. We talked for a half hour yesterday afternoon and he gave me a good tutorial of what all he and the Company does. All the other employees there are amazed at how much he’s doing and were especially shocked at what all he did in just his first week. He likes it a lot. I asked him if he’s challenged and he said not so much on the mathematical or technological side, (no surprise there, ha), there’s just a lot to learn. He’s basically analyzing everything the company does when it comes to trading and underwriting deals and finding better ways to do things. This is really impressive as here’s this huge financial company that raises funds and sells deals putting together deals for all kinds of institutions from cities to universities and governments through instruments like municipal bonds and other financial vehicles, and Jagger is the one creating new and better ways of doing things. The company’s competition are the huge guys like JP Morgan, Citigroup and others, and Jagger is creating short cuts and finding ways of doing things better than the way guys at these huge companies are doing it. He’s basically a one-man division that floats across the whole company, analyzes everything and answers to the Managing Director and CEO. His mentor who pushed to hire and create a job for him, is in his words, a really smart woman who is a senior vice president from Citigroup. She’s the one who is Lori’s friend’s sister-in-law which is how Jagger secured the initial interview. Jag even has a desk with a window looking out over the Chicago skyline! There are senior people who have been there for over ten years who don’t have a window! That tells you something right there! He has tons of coworkers who have become friends in just his first week. Of course, in just one week, they’re super impressed with him, but we all knew that. He’s at work at 6:30 every morning and works until 5ish usually eating lunch at his desk as he says he’s so swamped or just gets caught up in one of his many projects. Christine, his mentor, had to tell him a couple times, stop and eat. I predict he’ll be running his this or his own firm inside of ten years easy!
Today at 9:30, Salvatore, our handyman is back working on things like regrouting some tile and fixing other odds and ends around the house. It’s 7:20 now so we need to get moving to the gym. Have a great Saturday and God Bless.
