Frost

Might have had our first freeze last night. Says it’s 30 degrees in Edwards, not sure what it is outside here right now. Lori’s home today. She needs to get a massage, if possible. Hopefully her headache goes away before we leave for Italy.

6:26am now and Ty’s already on the way to work. We’ll soon be behind him on our way to the gym. This weekend Mark’s kid is getting married. We’re going to the pre-party on Saturday night at a ranch a few miles down the road. I helped him yesterday download Spotify and set up a country music playlist for him. His kid is not as together as either of our boys and I think he’s 27 years old. The wedding is Sunday, for family only, and then we’re all invited to the reception, weird. We passed on Sunday but will go eat some BBQ at this cool ranch on Saturday to support Mark.

More shootings in Denver. It’s just another day down there in the city. No need to go there anymore unless you have to. Hopefully, and I know I’ve said it before, today is the day my deal gets signed. This should have been done a month ago, but as I said before, you can always count on lawyers to screw things up. Fingers crossed.

Beautiful outside. Wish I could transport our home to the State of Wyoming. Then everything would be great. These days Colorado is Wyoming’s Mexico!

Now for the rant of the day. If you don’t want to hear it, stop reading now and have a good day.

The Dems and the left are still unhinged and still don’t know who won the election. They’re now trying to blackmail the Republicans into giving back money to spend on illegals. I hope Trump stands his ground and shuts the government down. Of course, the blame game will then begin on both sides. Anyone with a brain knows it’s the Dem’s fault, but the problem is most on the left, don’t think for themselves. How about the shooter that shot up an ICE facility yesterday in Dallas killing some detainees and then killing himself. Nothing to see there, just another gamer on Discord. Then there’s Jimmy Kimmel who fake cried on tv as he gave his half ass apology and then blamed Trump for everything. None of this violence will stop until the Dems like Newsom and others, stop calling Republicans Nazi’s and fascists. They spew hate on tv and induce violence and then when it happens, they say that their words don’t matter. I’ve never seen such a divided society in my 68 years. Some say there will be a civil war at some point. I used to think no way, but now I’m not so sure. I do know that if that ever happens, it’d be a quick war with the left losing fast. The silent majority is just that, a majority. You know what they say, don’t wake a sleeping giant! Since the Charlie Kirk shooting, the giant has one eye open and is slowly waking as it is. Hard to understand and reason with those whose hearts are so filled with hate that they’d wish death upon anyone who doesn’t agree with them. Sad.

That’s it, have a great Thursday, be kind, stay safe and God Bless.

Full Swing

Only been two days but the season is here. Soon it’ll be Halloween, then Thanksgiving, then Christmas. All in the next 100 days. The stores will start stocking Spring attire soon. Our neighbor has had her Halloween decorations up for a good two weeks. Costco has had Christmas stuff for just as long. These days things come and go fast.

Dr. B’s wife told him not to make any rash decisions yesterday as he too is experiencing questioning of what’s it all about. He told Lori he’s got about 5 years left in him to work and then asked much longer she would work. She said, “not that long”, and then he replied, “well, when you’re done, I’m done, as I can’t do this without you”. That’s a big compliment if you think about it. It’s natural to question your role in this World and how you’re spending your life, especially when someone close to you passes away. We’re all conditioned from birth to follow a preset path of going to school, getting a job, working every day your entire life, and then retiring when you’re basically too old to really do all the things you’d like to do, and then you die. You have to admire those free spirits that take their own path. Sure, you have to make a living to support yourself, but to what end. I think the real question is are you doing what makes you happy.

On another note, we tested our water and it’s fine except it’s as hard as it can be. I have a plumber coming today, and we have a water softener in the mechanical room, so we’ll see what’s up. We always knew our water was hard but didn’t know how hard.

Ty works today at 7. We’ll head to the gym at 6:30 or earlier so Lori can get to work. With luck, the papers on my big deal for work should be signed today. Lawyers are always a roadblock in getting any deal done quickly. Knock on wood that everything is fine and no last-minute surprises pop up. Not sure if you’ve seen the movie Money Ball with Brad Pitt. It came out years ago, probably 20, and is a baseball movie where he builds a winning team off analytics. Well, I’m basically doing the same thing with the wine business. You can’t argue with numbers as facts are facts.

More shootings in Denver last night. I read where Denver is more dangerous than LA or New York. Doesn’t surprise me. It’s all due to the leadership or should I say lack of. So sad what Denver has become. 5:44am now, sun should be up soon, along with Ty. Time to get moving.

God Bless.

Good morning

It is a good morning. In fact, every morning is a good morning, right? Think about it.

Snow on the top of the mountain out the dining room window and big rain during the night. I was up at 4am shutting the window as the rain woke me up. Supposed to dry out now for the rest of the week. The colors will be in full swing the next few days and by this time next week, well, they could be gone. Here we go.

Looks like Jimmy Kimmel is back on tv tonight. That kind of blows up the lefts narrative that the Trump suppressed free speech and is censoring people. Disney took him off the air and Disney is putting him back on. Not hearing much from the Dems now. They’ve moved onto a new lie to push their agenda.

Today is Dr. B’s first day back to work since his dad died. Lori told him she’d move all the patients, and he could take another day off, but he said he’d work. Sometimes staying busy and getting back to work is a good distraction. We all know, sometimes a death in the family doesn’t hit you right away. Everyone grieves in their own way. He’s super thankful Lori pushed him into going back to New York and reconciling with his dad. She’s a good girl.

Beautiful morning outside now that it’s getting light. Time to get moving. Have a great day, stay safe and God Bless.

First Day of Fall!

Showers today and tomorrow and then it should be a nice week with temps in the 70’s for the first week of Fall.

Dr. B’s father passed away last night here in Vail. He just made it back to Vail with him from New York the day before yesterday. He thanked Lori and said he wouldn’t have gone and reconciled with his dad if it wasn’t for her. She told him last week that he needed to go and basically convinced him so. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have gone. Glad he did as that’s the kind of thing that you’d carry with you and regret for the rest of your life.

Lori stopped and saw Dr. B and his dad yesterday morning at the hospital on her way to Katy’s memorial service in Denver. I guess around 700 people showed up for Katy and it was a nice get together. She made it home sometime after six last night. There was an accident in Officers Gulch that had her stopped for maybe an hour. Not sure if she’s going in today or working from home.

We’re going to the gym as soon as I finish up. Another tough loss for the Broncos yesterday. It’s a long season though so we can still turn it around. Reminds me a lot of last year’s slow start.

Ty stayed at Madi’s last night. He works tomorrow so I’m sure we’ll see him tonight. I did all his laundry yesterday and cleaned the house while Lori was gone. It’s like a painting outside right now. Hard to beat our view as from the couch I can’t see another house.

That’s it, time to head out. Be well, stay safe and God Bless.

Nice win

I was up until almost midnight watching the Buffs beat Wyoming. It was a good game and our QB played like we thought he’d play when we picked him up in the off season. Good win. Now let’s hope the Bronco’s beat the Chargers today. Last year, if the Buffalo’s won, the Bronco’s won. If they lost, so did the Bronco’s. Hoping that trend continues this year.

Tens of thousands are lining up in Phoenix right now for Charlie Kirk’s memorial service. It starts at noon. Thousands also showed up at CSU in Ft Collins yesterday here in Colorado. This is a good sign for the Country. The left is still full of hate though, so the war is nowhere near over. It’ll take years for the Country to come together, if we ever do. I’m not so sure as many on the left are brainwashed by years of radical teachers and left-wing groups. Hope I’m wrong.

We had a nice lunch yesterday with Ben and Eleni who drove down to Eagle to meet us. Ben’s lifetime friend, a rancher who was 68, passed away the other day and the service is Wednesday. He lived on a 6000-acre ranch his whole life and died, of all things, from a bee sting! This guy was as tough as any one you ever knew and apparently didn’t know he was allergic to bees. The Flight For Life helicopter made it to him but by the time they flew him to the hospital, he was gone! Unbelievable. Another one that makes you stop and think about life, so sad.

Lori is leaving around 9 or so for Katy’s service down in Greenwood Village in Denver at noon. She’s adamant that I don’t need to go. She made popovers yesterday and is making some more this morning as the eggs weren’t at room temperature yesterday which made them denser that they should be. Still, they were good. Mom used to make them when we were kids.

Tom’s house is on the market! I told him I’m sure it’ll sell fast as it’s a great house, all fixed up and in a great neighborhood. Guess he had like 16 people through over the weekend.

Big week coming up being the last full week of September and then we’re off to Italy. A couple of our aspen trees out back are already turning orange. The sunsets are nice and the colors are changing fast. Next weekend will be the best time to catch the change before the trees drop their leaves. It’s my favorite time of year. Looks like we’ll be hunting down near Gunnison the first of November. Could be snow by then, we’ll see.

Here’s a picture from the other night. The line on the right is water dripping down from the downspout on the roof from a rainstorm, ha. Not a scratch on your computer screen!

God Bless.

Ten Days Out

Ten days from today, we leave for Italy. Yesterday we went down to Denver so Lori could have her hair done. I went to REI with Jagger and then we had lunch, while waiting for her.

Our longtime friend and hairdresser, of over 25 years, looked like she aged ten years from her scrape with death a few months ago. You might remember she had something wrong internally, was opened up for a few days, had sepsis, and almost died. She now has to have a hernia operation October 2nd from a hernia she got from her incision. We feel so sorry for her as she lost a bunch of her hair and as I said, just looks way older. Thankfully she didn’t die. Lesson here is life is fleeting, and things can change in a day, or a moment. As you get older, there are lots of these wake-up calls, as most of our friends are older being the same age as us. It’s just part of life, but when you grow up and see some people just going through the motions, it makes you question what to do with your time. As I always say, time and freedom are the most important things now. Not more money, a bigger house, a new car. Spending time with family and doing things you enjoy are the goal. Just my rant for the day.

Ty is off today, and Lori and I are going to lunch in the Village with Ben and Eleni. Might get a few rain showers up here this afternoon. Tomorrow Lori has Katy’s memorial service in Denver and says she can go alone, as she’ll be hanging with the girls she worked with. I might still drive her and drop her off and then pick her up. She says I should stay home and watch football though as she knows it’s a big game. If she changes her mind, I’ll still drive her.

That’s it, have a great day, take care, God Bless.

Denver

I have a call at 8 this morning and Lori has a hair appointment at 11:15. If I’m done, I’ll drive her. Ty is already at work.

I just finished reading the book Crow Killer. It’s the true story of Jeremiah Johnson. Pretty amazing book. If people these days had to survive as they did in the mid to late 1800’s, most wouldn’t make it. It shows you just how soft we’ve become as a species in 150 years or so. Most would say how far we’ve advanced, and while we have technologically, you could easily argue that we’ve gone backwards socially. Kind of eerie that while I was reading this book, that Robert Redford passed away, as of course, he played Johnson in the hit 1972 movie. I still remember the first time I saw it (probably seen it over 50 times, literally) in a little movie theater in Glenwood Springs Colorado in the early 70’s. Lots of life lessons in that book.

It’s about 7am now and I need to shower and put out the trash before my call. This is the last weekend of summer with Fall starting Monday. Get out and enjoy it! God Bless.

Staying cool

Nice up here. Snow way up high and good rain down here. I turned off the sprinklers, as I said the other day, to save money. Wouldn’t be surprised if we see our first snowfall in a few weeks. Tis the season.

Yesterday afternoon Lori and I ran up to Edwards to see Jagger who came up for a dentist appointment. He had to hurry back as he had something going on last night. Good to see him. We have a great dentist who is also a good friend. Thankfully we have his cell phone, and he takes care of us whenever we have a problem.

Ty’s almost out the door for work. Lori is working from home today, so am I. She’s going to Denver tomorrow to get her hair done and then has Katy’s memorial service on Sunday. Katy was one of her nurses when she worked at Dr. Rodger’s plastic surgery practice when we lived in Denver. She was a sweet younger girl who when working with Lori, finally got married and I think had a kid. Right after, she was diagnosed with uterine cancer. We thought she was in remission, but cancer tends to come back. So sad. The service is from 12 until 3 Sunday and Lori said she’s fine going alone. I offered to go, but she said that’s ok. I’ll still probably go with her, as that’s the right thing to do.

People are losing their jobs left and right for mocking, celebrating and making fun of Charlie Kirk’s death, and we’re just fine with that. The latest and most deserving to go is Jimmy Kimmel! This guy is a vile human who should have been cancelled years ago. The tide is turning as these people are now getting the same medicine they’ve been dishing out for years. Funny how they cry foul or not fair, when it happens to them. Typical Democrat. Play the victim. Good to see America is no longer putting up with their crap. Time to stand up for what’s right.

That’s it, have a great day and God Bless.

A soaker

Had some big rain yesterday evening. Time to turn the sprinklers off to save money. Don’t think we need them anymore this year. Rain started in the valley around 3 and was on and off until around sunset. Always good to get rain as long as no fires start.

Super busy today as I am every day. We’re going to the gym and then will start our workday. Ty worked for a few hours yesterday morning as a coworker was sick. He works again today. Lori and Ty are both on Z Paks as they feel like they’re getting a cold. Luckily, we can call in prescriptions when we need them.

The days are getting shorter as the year goes by. Usually, it’s light outside by now at 6:20. Not today. The colors are turning, and it won’t be long now before the trees drop their leaves. The Fall Equinox starts Monday.

That’s it for today. Have a great day, be well, stay safe, (watch out for left wing loonies) and God Bless.

Snow

Here it comes, not here at the house, but up on the peaks. Hopefully we’ll have an Indian summer. That means a nice fall and a late start to winter. It is in the 30’s up here though in the mornings, albeit the high 30’s.

Yesterday afternoon Harley threw up all over the dining room rug. It was so gross and took me a good hour to clean up. I had to borrow the neighbors steam cleaner and Lori used it again when she made it home.

Work is coming along well. I’m super busy wrapping up that big deal which looks like it should, (knock on wood) finally get signed on Thursday.

Dr. B’s dad isn’t doing well back in New York, so he flies out today or could already be gone if he was able to get a flight last night. Lori had to reschedule all his surgeries for the next few days.

Two weeks from today we’re off to Italy. Italy this time of year is spectacular. The tourists are gone for the most part, the food is great (it’s truffle season), and the weather is nice. It’ll be a bit of a grueling trip as we pack and unpack six times in ten days, but it’s still Italy in the fall.

While things are still a mess out there, it looks like the killing of Charlie Kirk is a turning point for the Country. People everywhere are speaking out and standing up for what’s right. The silent majority is waking up and no longer silent. The bullies on the left don’t like this and are unbelievably still spewing hate and evil, and it will probably get worse, but like a Phoenix rising from the ashes, I believe good will win over evil.

Last, Robert Redford has passed away. He was one of the great actors of our time. We all remember Butch Cassiddy and the Sundance Kid. Flipping through channels last night, I happened to watch the end of Three Days of the Condor, and of course my favorite movie of all time is Jeremiah Johnson. He was 89, RIP. Thought he was younger. You can’t beat Father time.

God Bless
