Yesterday we were dragging a bit. Getting home at 1 and to bed at 2 the night before just takes it right out of you. Lori joked thank God we don’t drink! She’s right!
We have a busy week coming up. Jag has soccer this morning, Ty has mountain biking tomorrow and Lori goes to Sacramento Wednesday. I have lots of work and am in Seattle a week from tomorrow for two days. The dogs come home today from doggie daycare and I have lots of cleaning to do around here.
We did go to dinner last night with Melanie and Marty for Mexican food. Then we settled in for a good nights sleep which we really needed.
We’re still in awe of the concert. Lots of people from Vail went, well over 50! It was so good and so much fun that like I said before, everyone will remember it forever. I’ll find some more pictures to put up soon. That’s about it for today. Hope everyone is well, take care, be safe and God Bless.
Hard to put last night into words, but it truly was epic!. We arrived at the stadium after having a bite to eat after the drive to Denver after meeting with our builder after working out. You can’t really explain it but for 2 hours last night it’s as if we were all frozen in time sharing and experiencing a microcosm of my life.
We made our way into the stadium around 6:45 after meeting up with Tom and Jennifer and then Melanie and Marty. Buying floor seats was the right choice! We walked in with tens of thousands of people some in their 70’s and 80’s! By the time we made it to our seats, after hitting the souvenir stand, the opening act was starting. About an hour later the show began.
The lights went down, the crowd screamed and then an announcer came on and said “Ladies and Gentleman, The Rolling Stones!” Then Keith and Ronnie’s guitars belted out the opening riffs to Jumping Jack Flash! The crowd went crazy. This went on for two hours with Mick strutting around the stage like a 30 year old. He talked with the crowd like we were long lost friends saying how they first played Denver in 1965. He talked about the shows they played at the old Mile High Stadium and joked how they went to Casa Bonita earlier in the day to go cliff diving, (that’s an old famous restaurant in Lakewood), he also thanked us for our patience and understanding for having to reschedule the show due to his heart issue. You would have never known it the way he was. Mick didn’t miss a beat and hit all the notes. They played all their hits and Mick danced and pranced around like he has done for 50 years. There was a long catwalk that jutted out into the crowd close to us where at one point they set up a drum kit and acoustic guitars and all came out in the middle of the crowd and did an acoustic set. The kids were mesmerized. At one point Ty turned to me and said “this is the coolest thing I’ve ever seen in my life”. That right there was worth it. Finally the show ended and we made our way out with our friends who we took to the show. They were four rows ahead of us as that’s how our tickets ended up. It was like re-living my life with old friends for the past 50 years.
On the way home we searched our phones to see where they were playing as we’d go to a show again, it was that good! The kids soon fell asleep while I drove to Vail with Lori looking hot in her new Rolling Stones t-shirt sitting next to me, life is good. Around 1 am we pulled in. Jag had burned the skin off his thigh on an alpine slide the day before in Steamboat and needed the dressing changed. More on his trip tomorrow and the show but now it’s time to go.
As I said, the show was everything we could have hoped for and more. It’s like we were all one person for a moment in time. Lori looked at me during the show and said “we’re really good parents”, ha. That’s sort of an inside joke I’ll explain later. This was one of those moments everyone will remember for the rest of their lives, especially the kids. More tomorrow, God Bless.
Tonight at 7:30 we have an appointment with Mick, Keith, Ron, Charlie and the boys at Mile High Stadium! It’s supposed to rain a bit around 6:30 or 7 and then stop. Hope they’re right.
Lori and I both had doctor appointments yesterday while Ty hung out and Jag was having fun in Steamboat. Jag went skeet shooting and did really well. Earlier they heard a noise and there was a bear outside their front door! He also sent us a picture of him parallel parking! He’s sure having fun.
Ty made it to his first mountain bike practice where they rode 10 miles up on Beaver Creek. The coaches said he did great, especially since he was riding with all the kids who have been racing for years. I’ll bet he’s sore today.
Lori and I went to dinner with Jennifer and Tom who are building a 6800 square foot house in Edwards. It’s really nice and has three levels. There are a few things we did different but everyone has different tastes. They have three levels with winding stairs that might be a challenge but they did put in an elevator. Lori and I are meeting with our builder this morning to go over a few things. It’s exciting. It was a nice dinner and we like them a lot. They, along with Marty and Melanie are going to the concert with us tonight. We decided to just drive home after the show as we couldn’t find any hotels in Denver under $500 a room! We should be home by midnight.
Not sure what the rash on my leg is as they say it’s not poison ivy. Brooke gave me some really strong hydrocortisone which seems to be shrinking it, I hope. It’s so weird.
Jag should be home by 10 or so and with the rain forecast I think we’ll leave around 2 or 3. That’s it. Have a good day and remember, You Can’t Always Get What You Want! God Bless.
What a year, it seems more like Wisconsin than Colorado. Thankfully we live in the mountains. We could see rain a bit tomorrow during the concert, hope not.
Jag is having fun as far as we know. Ty has mountain bike practice today at 4:15 as he joined the Vail (VSSA) Mt. Bike Race Team. Of course this required a new bike but he was due anyhow. He decided to join the team instead of playing soccer which Jag does.
We have dinner tonight with Jennifer and Tom who are going to the Stones with us tomorrow. They’ve been building a new house for about a year longer than us so Lori is excited to pick her brain. Time to get moving so that’s it. Be safe and have a good weekend, God Bless.
Today I have some major cleaning to do. Not only at the house but also in the Company. We’re really close to wrapping up our strategic investment from the Germans and I have some day to day things in various territories that need some cleaning so to speak.
Jag made it to Steamboat. That’s the longest drive he’s had so far and I think he hit weather. Ty did some work and went to the skatepark yesterday too. He shares with us which kids are smoking weed and who’s drinking and more. It seems in his grade lots of kids are in that experimental stage with some drinking vodka and others doing other things. He seems to be avoiding all this thankfully. Good for him.
More rain and the humidity is high. This is not a typical Colorado summer. Lots of bugs too. This morning Ty has Deb for 90 minutes and I’ll go to the gym while Lori has clinic.
Politically things are crazy. Everyone is grasping for solutions, whether good or bad as when things like shootings happen the media blows it out of proportion. For example, every democrat is calling Trump a white supremacist and blaming him for the shootings and whites in general yet according to the FBI the deaths or shootings attributed to white supremacy is less than .000017 for a total of 17 incidents out of over 400,000 annually. Then you have people like Biden using worse language than Trump and doing the same thing he accuses Trump of doing but I guess if a Dem does it it’s ok.
Also we had a stabbing killing four people in Los Angeles California overnight, guess we’d better ban knives. It was a Latino who killed four Latinos and I guess that doesn’t fit the media’s narrative much so we probably won’t hear much about it. What a fucked up Country. Remember all great civilizations throughout history survive an average of 300 years. Guess this is all just part of the course. Time to get off all social media too. For me, I’ll start with limiting comments that have anything to do with anything other than family.
Here’s a quote for you,
“I prefer dangerous freedom over peaceful slavery.” – Thomas Jefferson, letter to James Madison, January 30, 1787
That’s it, time to run, have a great day and God Bless.
Today I’m off to Aspen and Jag is off to Steamboat with Emma and her family. I’ll be back this afternoon and Jag will be back Saturday morning. Mom and Dad’s house is officially sold. The buyers signed around 9 yesterday morning. Lori had a long day yesterday, I picked up some poison ivy on the mountain walking the dogs and Ty finished one of his books for school. Jag will be shooting sporting clays (clay pigeons) in Steamboat which should be fun. My buddy Jeff in Hawaii who we’ve helped out a bit as he lost his house, sent me a guitar that arrives today, what fun! You might remember he’s my friend of 40 plus years that plays with everyone from Fleetwood Mac to Aerosmith and others. He’s a great guitar player but not really good with money or finances.
Harley woke me at 4:50 to go out and see the stars. Mojo tagged along and peed and then both went back to sleep until 6:30. That’s it, no politics today even though there’s lots to talk about like the Texas Dem Presidential candidate who published names and addresses of Trump donors and the Dems who protested outside Mitch McConnell’s house chanting “die” and “murder” and “we’re going to stab you and your wife in the heart”! You democrats must be proud of your side, wow. God Bless.
Ok, the above, silly as it seems, is how anti-gun people think. Anyone who thinks that getting rid of guns, any gun, isn’t thinking rationally but rather emotionally. As I said before, I’m fine with Universal Background checks and other screening methods to help identify people (mostly misguided youth) from buying a gun. Hell, go ahead and raise the age limit too, that’d probably help. But if you think banning any gun will solve the problem, you’re just part of the problem and don’t really want to find a solution.
Yesterday Trump went on tv and called for unity in addressing the problem and condemned white supremacy which some say is part of the problem yet before the blood has dried in El Paso Dems are calling HIM a racist. The shooter in El Paso left a manifesto (basically a long letter of his thoughts) stating all his beliefs were in place long before Trump decided to run for President. He also praised Elizabeth Warren, the radical left and environmentalists and ANTIFA, the violent democratic group that beats up anyone wearing a Trump hat or who thinks different than they do. So, the shooter was a Democrat, yet you don’t hear that from the politicians now do you. In the interest of unity, I’ll stop now but anyone blaming anyone rather than trying to find a solution is again, part of the problem.
On to the day. I made it to my Mom’s by noon and Harry, James and I loaded out the rest of the trash. The people buying the house sign this morning at 9 or so meaning the end of an era is here. As I said yesterday, it’s sad but just an old empty house now. Lots of good memories there but that’s all that’s there, memories.
Today I’m at the distributor and then have a couple appointments before getting home probably around 3. Ali’s mom’s service is a week from Saturday and I think Lori is going to see her mom two days before that. Jag is going to Steamboat with Emma tomorrow for two days and Ty has Deb this morning. Lori is doing a little better but still has a lingering headache. It’s 6:24 now so time to get moving. Hope all’s well, have a good day, be safe and God Bless.
Today is the last day that our family home will be in the family. It’s kind of sad but ok as since Mom and Dad are gone, it’s just not the same. We sure did have a lot of memories there though. I’m sure everyone remembers their home growing up. Lori sure does as I hear about Woodlake all the time. Oh well, it’s part of life, everything changes or evolves.
I’m training from 9:30 until 11:30 and then will meet James and Tom there to clean out the last few things. I think Tom signs the papers at 9 am and the people (I don’t remember their name) sign and take possession tomorrow. They did their final walk through yesterday afternoon.
Speaking of training, here’s something short I read yesterday that I think sums up most of these shootings. Read this,
Isolation and no social development combined with excessive use of gaming and other things including drugs seem to be factors. Destruction of the family, which has taken place in recent decades, with absentee parenting, where a kid can develop into a loner, can create paranoia and dysfunction.
That’s pretty much it in a nutshell. Nothing much like this happened when we were kids. Lori said yesterday we should force our kids to watch The Andy Griffith Show as there’s a lot of subtle life lessons in each episode. And now you already have Dem politicians blaming Trump, unbelievable. This whole thing will spur talk of taking guns away from law abiding citizens and in turn a rush at gun stores with more people buying guns as they’re afraid our supposed representatives will take away their Constitutional rights. So in the end, thanks to the Dems, there will be more guns out there. Kind of ironic isn’t it.
Moving on, Lori’s neck is hurting really bad. She’ll get an MRI today and we’ll see what’s up. It could be a torn muscle or a slipped disc and she could end up in surgery. We’ll see. Hoping for the best. Time to shower and get moving. Emma and Jag hung out most of the day. It’s sure nice not having to drive those two around anymore. She has some new freckles on her face from being in the sun for 10 days! Take care, watch your back and God Bless.
All went well and the piano is gone to a good home. Think we netted like $2K but friends I know had to give theirs away. James went up and so did Tom (to collect the loot) so I didn’t have to drive down. Both boys had their physicals for sports at 9 so it helped a lot not having to drive down.
Next up was breakfast at the Four Seasons and then Lori and I headed down to the home site and then stopped at a few places to look at flooring. We have some samples on the floor here now trying to decide which color wood to go with.
Then the four of us went to the Westin to go to the pool for a couple hours before dinner at Spelndido. Dinner was at 5:30 so we were home at 7:30, stuffed and tired.
So, what’s with all the shootings? First El Paso yesterday then Dayton Ohio last night. The media and Dems will play this up big time wanting more gun control but more people are killed in many other ways each day (think drunk drivers) but it’s still disturbing and not right. I’m one of those responsible gun owners like most gun owners are and don’t object to reasonable restrictions. Just not sure how to solve it but the Universal Background check thing doesn’t bother me as I go through one every time I purchase a firearm. Problem is if someone is intent on getting a gun and shooting up some place, no law will stop that. Sadly I feel it’s necessary to be armed these days, especially when going to Denver. Up here I’m a little more relaxed. The news is even advertising bullet proof backpacks. What a World these days. By the way, guns have always been around and decades ago were easier to get and we had a lot less (hardly any) shootings. Does this tell you anything? Like maybe it’s something else? Like just maybe video games, violence on tv and in music and social media? Think about it. When I was a kid people had guns on a rack in the back of their pickups everywhere. Imagine that nowadays, people would freak out. We need to get to the root of the problem and it’s not the gun people.
Mojo hasn’t eaten in two days even though I had him checked out last week. He’s like 13 and getting old. Somethings up with him. On top of that Harley woke me to go out at 5 am and barely made it out the door before having to go and had a bloody stool so she’ll be going in today, ugh. It never stops.
My coffee tasted funny this morning so after drinking a third of a cup I went to smell the cream and sure enough, it had turned, yuck. I poured it out and made myself another cup. Sour milk or cream is no good.
Today we’ll take it easy. Tomorrow morning I have a couple hours of training in Idaho Springs and next weekend the Stones are coming! Emma is home (landed at DIA last night) as she’s been in the Bahama’s for 10 days. I’m sure her and Jag will be getting together today.
Here’s some pictures of the foundation going up, note the four walls in one area (middle and bottom photo) which is my secure vault that I’m putting in to keep things locked up and also use as a safe room. Check out our views behind the dirt. It’s pretty exciting and overwhelming at the same time to build a house. Lots to do. Have a great day, God Bless.
The night before last Ali lost her Mom Jackie. We’re all so sorry for her and understand what she’s going through. Prayers to her and the rest of her family. As we know from experience, it doesn’t matter how old someone is or how sick they are, when they finally go to the big playground in the sky, it still hurts. God Bless Al and her Mom.
Today I need to drive down to meet the people picking up the piano. This is my third trip down to sell this damn thing. I’ll easily have spent $200 in gas alone, not counting my time, to get rid of this thing. Who knew it’d be so tough to sell a piano! I asked Tom to go up there as we only need someone to let the movers in and collect the cash but when I did I forgot about Al. In any case, no big, it’s more important that Tom is with Ali.
Both boys have physicals at school this morning for Fall sports so it’ll be a tight morning with me having to run to Mom’s. I thought Jag could drive himself but a parent needs to sign and I think Lori has some VIP patient. We’ll work it out somehow.
I was down and up yesterday. After sitting on I-25 I know why we moved up here. Traffic was terrible and it took me at least a couple hours longer than it should have. The boys actually cleaned their rooms probably the best they ever had. I put them on notice that they had to take responsibility and do it themselves and low and behold, they did! They then went swimming around 5 pm.
That’s it as I need to get moving. Hope all’s well, GB.
